Chapter 2

I kept running. I pulled the piece of paper out of my pocket. I eventually found the address.

The driveway had a few cars. I knocked on the door. A teen with brown hair and light green eyes answered.

"You're early." He said.

"I'm sorry, are you Aiden?" I asked.

"The one and only." He held the door open. "Come on."

There were a few people inside, one setting up a DJ, one setting up lights, one setting up the food, and one sweeping. I saw Lukas at the food, and walked up to him.

"Woah! Dude, are you OK?" He asked.

"Yeah, why?"

"Your eye... It's kinda bleeding..."

"What!" I looked into the glass case with lots of trophies in it.
I touched my eye and blood covered my fingers. I covered it. "Where's the bathroom?" I asked.

Lukas pointed to a hallway. I hurried into the room, and shut the door behind me. I uncovered my eye. Blood poured down my face, and made my hand red. My face was scratched. Badly. My eyelid had a giant gash across it. How did that get there?
I splashed my face with water, and let all the blood drip from my face into the drain.

I dabbed it with a wet paper cloth, and threw it out. I walked out, up to Lukas.

"You OK?" He asked.

"I'm fine. It was probably from my mom." I said.

"It's still bleeding a little bit."

"I know. It's fine." I covered my eye with my hand.

"Alright then."

I helped set up, until more people showed up.

"Hey, babe! Come on in!" Aiden said. Petra stepped into the house.

"Hey, New Kid." She said to me.

I waved shyly. I thought it would be a good idea to keep my distance.

After a while, all the ceiling lights were off, and the lasers were on. I leaned on a wall, until I heard a scream.

I walked into the hallway where the noise came from, and saw Petra get punched by Aiden.

"Hey!" I yelled.

"Jesse?!" Petra asked, holding her arm.

Aiden ran towards me, his fist behind his head, ready to punch me.

"Aiden, what's going on!" A male's voice yelled. I turned to him. He was wearing the same jacket as Lukas. He was wearing a light blue shirt under it, with jeans.

Aiden screamed, and held his head, getting his fingers tangled in his hair. He fell on the wall, as sweat beat down his face.

"Gill? What happened?" Lukas pushed through the crowed into the hallway. "Aiden! You idiot!"

"Is he-" I started to ask.

"He's drunk!" Lukas yelled. He grabbed Aiden's arm, and pulled him back into the crowed. The other guy followed.

I turned to Petra who was on the floor, holding her bleeding arm.

"Petra!" I ran up to her on the floor.

"That idiot!" She yelled through the pain.

"Are you alright?" I asked.

"Does this look like 'alright' to you!" She hissed in pain, gripping her arm harder.

"We need to find-"

"We need to get out of here! I'm not spending another minute with that jerk!"

(You will never see cuss words in my books. Not even blurred out.)

I helped her stand up. She hissed in pain again.

"We should get you cleaned up, first." I said.

She nodded, as I took her to the bathroom.

I pulled on the mirror. It didn't open.

"Why not try the left side!" She yelled.

I tugged on the left side of the mirror and it flew open. I could hear Petra face-palm behind me.

I eventually found a bandage in the mess of the cabinet. I dabbed on her wound with a wet cloth, and wrapped it with the bandage.

"Thanks, Jesse." She said, holding her arm. She stood up. "Well, I'm gonna get out of here. You wanna come?"

"Sure! Why not?"

She smiled, as she opened the bathroom door.

Not all of us had driver's licences, but Petra did. She took the helmet off the back of her motor cycle. "You coming?" She asked.

I nodded, and sat on the back of her bike. Petra tucked her hair in her vest, and put on the biker's helmet.

"You're gonna need this." She said, tossing me a helmet, that I nearly dropped.

I put it on my head being careful of my eye, and wrapped my arms around her waist. I felt a shudder go down her back.

"Don't get comfortable doing that!" She yelled.

"I promise I wouldn't dream of it."

"Good. Now, where's your place?" She asked.

"Uh... Can we go somewhere that isn't my house...?"

"Why not?"

"My mom is kinda abusive..."

"Ohh... I'm sorry. So, where do you want to go that isn't your house?"

"Um... Town Square?"

"Alright. Hang on!" She turned on the engine of the bike, and pressed the gas.

Time Skip!!!

The bike slowed to a stop on the curb. Petra was already off, before could remove my arms from her waist.

"Hurry up, new kid." She said, starting to walk away.

"Wait a minute!" I yelled, getting off the bike. I took off the helmet, and ran up to her. "My name isn't 'New Kid.'"

"I know. It just suits you. You're a new kid. So that's how I remember you."

"I got it..."

"So... You hungry?"

"Am I?" I asked.

"Do you want something to eat or not?" She asked, annoyed.

"Yeah, sure."

She smiled, and held open the door to a restaurant. "M'lady."

"Ha ha." I walked in.

We sat at the counter. "Yo! Axel!" Petra yelled.

"Hey, Petra! Who's this?" A teen asked.

(Just imagine what Axel would look like as a waiter. I don't really feel like describing someone you know. And if you don't, go look him up on Google.)

"Axel, Jesse. Jesse, Axel." Petra said.

"Hey." He said, holding out his hand.

"Hi." I shook it.

"So. You feel like getting us the usual?" Petra asked.

"Ugh! Do I have to!" He whined playfully.

"Yeah."

Axel laughed, and walked off.

"Um. What's the 'usual?'" I asked.

"You'll see." She smiled.
