Chapter 18: Analia

After riding on a horse for a long time, we end up on top of a mountain.

It's a breath-taking view. I stare at it, mesmerized. It's snowing very lightly and the city is glowing bright with lights. There is a light breeze and everyone is starting to move inside their homes.

I get off the horse and so does Prince Drake. We walk towards the edge and he sits down, his legs hanging in the air. When I hesitate to sit down next to him, he looks up to me, his one eyebrow shooting up, and I sigh, then sit down next to him.

"It's a beautiful view from up here," I say, to break the unbearable silence.

"It really is," he replies.

Silence.

"So... Do you like coming here?" I ask.

"Yeah, mom and I used to come here all the time. She used to love it. She said it made her feel on top of the world, as if everything was perfect when she came here. She used to come here a lot, especially when she and father had arguments," he says, looking at his hands.

"Oh... Um, do you miss her?"

He looks at me, perplexed, his eyebrows creased.
"How do you know she is no more?"

My eyes go wide and I quickly look away, afraid to give myself away and say, "Well, you said it in past tense so I assumed..."

He nods and keeps on looking at the city.

The atmosphere gets gloomy so I decide to cheer him up a little.

"Hey, do you listen to music?" I ask.

He looks at me in a way that says, 'Duh'.

"There's a parade on my birthday every year. They play beautiful instruments that day..." he says.

What the hell? That's it?

"You've never heard like pop?"

A bit shocked now...

"What's that?"

My mouth drops open and I stand up.

"Geez, Oh my... You are kidding me! You're a prince and you've never heard pop? No, no, no. Do you have a recorder or something here?"

"What's that?"

I can't believe it.

He doesn't know what it is.

No way!

I sigh. Well, I guess this is my chance to become who I'd always wanted to be when I was a kid.

"Well, it's time you learned what it is."

I close my eyes and take a breath. Let's do this.

And I open my mouth and start singing.

"Can you feel it, can you feel it, can you feel it
If you look around
The whole world's coming together now, baby-"

"Woah, Woah, Woah! What are you doing???"

"Umm, showing you what pop is! It's 'Can you feel it' by Michael Jackson. Please tell me you've heard of the guy! Lemme continue! I can't let you livin' like this," I say, trying to be cool. It helps build my confidence, which I really need right now.

I clear my throat again and start singing.

"Can you feel it, can you feel it, can you feel it
If you look around
The whole world's coming together now, baby
Can you feel it, can you feel it, can you feel it
Feel it in the air, the wind is taking it everywhere, yeah
Can you feel it, can you feel it, can you feel itAll the colors of the world should be that
Lovin' each other wholeheartedly
Yes, it's all right
Take my message to your brother and tell him twice
Spread the word and try to teach the man
Who's hating his brother, when hate won't do
'Cause we're all the same, yes, the blood inside me is inside you
Now tell me-"

I stop singing because of laughing. Not my laugh though. My hands and body are in a weird position, like I'm trying to be a cool singer, and I quickly stand straight.

He... He's really laughing. It's... Beautiful. It's different.

His eyes almost close because of how he is laughing and he is clutching his stomach.

I blush. Not sure if it's embarrassment or something else though...

"It's wasn't that bad," I tell him.

He controls himself and is out of breath. He says, " You sound like a dying rat. This is pop? You have some terrible taste in music."

I walk up to him, trying to put an angry face on, and point at his face.
"You don't have any taste in music! EVERYBODY loves Michael Jackson. You don't have any music sense! You're like those weird, old-schooled parents."

He continues laughing, trying to stop himself, which apparently, makes him laugh even more.

After an eternity of laughing, he finally stops himself.

He pushes my finger aside and only then do I realize how close we are standing. Way too close. Our bodies are only inches apart and I have to crane my neck to look at him.

I'm once again lost in his blue eyes, which stare back at mine. My heart quickens and takes a leap. Why do I feel like this?

His hand is still holding my fingers and he says, "You're really crazy, aren't you?" His voice is soft now. It's not as husky or rough as it always is.

Once again, it feels warm. It's snowing lightly, but it should still be cold. But all of a sudden, I feel warm now.

"Well, that's how anyone normal would react if you told them pop sounds weird," I answer, my words a half-whisper.

He gives a smile and a small snowflake falls on his cheek. Without thinking, my hand reaches out and wipes it away.

He stills. I still.

I shouldn't have done that.

He lets go of my finger and once again, the cold breeze is back, and I shiver. He turns around and I see Camara approaching on a horse.

Does he have special hearing too? Because I clearly didn't see or hear a horse coming. But, then, I wasn't even in reality a few seconds ago.

"What's wrong?" He asks her, his voice back to a commanding tone.

I can sense something is wrong. Very wrong.

"It's- She's back."

Camara doesn't have to say who is back. We all get who is. I wrap my hands around me and look down at my feet. I don't want to see the Prince's reaction.

The real Princess is back.

Princess Liferia is back.

A/N:

Check out the song at the top 'coz Analia actually did sing very weirdly and I don't want you to imagine the actual one like that. It's an amazing song!
