Potter vs Potter
The night before the first Quidditch match, neither Potter twin got a lot of sleep. Both were restless, nervous about what would take place the following morning.
They both knew the other was nothing less than talented when it came to Quidditch. They grew up playing the sport. They weren't forced too, but they chose to. They learned from one of the best Quidditch players to ever walk the planet (in their opinion).
Their mother; Nova Potter.
As a duo, a team, the twins were unstoppable. They were synchronized. They were a unit of power. A unit no one dared to break.
But what happened when they were split?
Of course, they have been playing on separate teams since they got to Hogwarts...which neither admitted how hard it was to play against the other.
But now it was different.
Before they were playing under someone else's command. Now, they were playing under their own orders. They were in charge of their own team.
Neither twin would admit it aloud, but this was a chance for both of them to prove themselves worthy of the Potter name.
It had nothing to do with their father, the savior of the Wizarding War. It related to their mother, fierce warrior and all-star Quidditch player.
They knew their mother would be proud of them no matter what. However, this was their chance to prove to the world they were Nova's children. That they were worthy of her blood.
Ruby thought they were being ridiculous. While she loved watching the sport and getting furious about fouls, she didn't see the point in making it such a big part of your life. She recalled James sobbing about there being a scratch on his broom, believing it wouldn't fly as well. She didn't see the point in having new dragon hide gloves. Of practicing nonstop. Of buying the top quality broomstick polish.
She didn't see why the twins felt the need to be so competitive, especially when they'd be playing on the same team with a month.
With the transfers coming in the next month, Headmaster Minnie had come to a conclusion. Each house team would play one game this season. This would serve as an audition of sorts. After, the teachers, headboy, and headgirl, would come together and converse about the best students to play this school year, representing Hogwarts.
There will be a total of five teams playing. The Hogwarts team, composed of the obvious, Hogwarts students. The Ilvermorny team made of students from America. The Bulgarians along with the students from Russia would each have their own team. The fifth team would be composed of the lone transfers that were homeschooled or came from one of the smaller schools, providing limited students.
It was safe to say the Potters were thrilled to see their Uncle Vicky.
Nova, who has gotten a reputation of being intimidating, has remained in contact with Victor Krum. She even went as far as to pay a visit to Durmstrang and assist in several classes.
She scared the shit out of the Bulgarians on occasion.

All future plans aside, the moment the sun hit Jade's pink tinted cheeks in the early hours of dawn, her nervousness grew.
"HOLY FUCKING SHIT!" Remus exclaimed as he walked into the Viewing room.
"What?" James asked hurriedly as he faceplanted.
"Oh look!" Tonks shrugged with false enthusiasm. "Jade's on the roof of Hogwarts."
"Why the fuck-"
"Language," James groaned from his place on the floor.
"Zip it, Capsicle Wannabe," Marlene snorted.
"She's always on the roof," Lily rolled her eyes.
And Lily Potter (nee Evans) was right. Jade, despite the danger, climbed upon the walls surrounding the Astronomy Tower to the roof. Much like Nova could often be found by the Black Lake or the Astronomy Tower, Jade could be found on the roof.
While up there, Jade being Jade decided to make a Winstagram post.

Mum...if you're seeing this...it's photoshopped
"What's the plan, Captain?" Alex Langston winked at Jade as she entered the Slytherin locker rooms after eating half a piece of toast to make Marco, who had been piling food onto her plate at breakfast, happy.
"El, you distract Jam Jam," Jade joked.
Her comment lead the team into laughter, breaking the tension in the room. One particular player made the mistake of critizing the Gryffindor Captain earlier this season...
He was no longer on the team...and he was bald for three weeks straight.
And it wasn't Jade who made him bald.
In fact all she had done was kick him off the team, telling him to never disrespect her twin again. She never even mentioned the incident to anyone. The news of what happened never went beyond the walls of the locker room.
But yet...
Elyse Wood was on the team.
No I, the narrator, am not insinuating anything. But...you can't ignore the facts.
Marco sat happily at the microphone, prepared to do his best. He had been waiting for this day for years. He has wanted to be the next Lee Jordan in a sense. He wanted to be known throughout the school as a ground breaking commentator. He, of course, didn't want that to be his profession. He just wanted to be known for something he loved doing...
Embarrassing his friends.
A seat to his immediate left was Minnie. His attention turn to her as she spoke to the young latino.
"Marco..." she warned. "Please, please keep your words clean. Not biases. No swearing...which is a lot to ask from Nova's godson-"
"What?" Nova appeared in her burst of flames to Marco's immediate right. "I heard my name."
"Holy fuck!" Marco shouted.
Minnie rubbed her temple.
"Hey, Marco," Nova greeted with a grin. "How's my favorite Badger?"
"Driving Minnie up the wall," Marco grinned.
"Atta boy!" Nova gave him a high-five.
"Nox, you're late!" Nevile commented.
"I am not," Nova rolled her honey eyes. "The match hasn't started. Besides, I was visiting Jarold!"
"The Giant Squid?" Slughorn asked.
Yes, he was still working. It's a shock to everyone.
"'Ello, Sluggy!" Nova grinned, but frowned. "No bunny slippers today?"
Slughorn gave a deep laugh that shook his belly.
"You never seise to make me laugh, Nova!" He declared. "But no slippers today."
"What a shame," Marco commented. A slight breeze blushed his brown hair across his face.
"To answer your question, Sluggy, yes, Jarold is the Giant Squid," Nova remarked. "He's been talking to Lily lately. Says she keeps him company while I'm busy with work...I missed my tea times with him."

"Welcome back to the first game after COVID!" Marco shouted. "Today's match is Slytherin versus Gryffindor! The Cunning Snakes and the Courageous Lions! Or...as I like to call it... Potter versus Potter and Little Potter!"
Both Potter Twins flipped off their friend from their place on the ground.
"WHO YOU CALLING LITTLE, YOU MOTHER TRUCKING PUNK?" Lily Minerva yelled, her voice projecting up to Marco. Her red hair was braided tightly down her back.
"Oh shit...I got Little Potter mad," Marco rolled his eyes. Despite acting cool he could feel the heat from her glare and it scared him.
Harry, who was refereeing this match, pinched the bridge of his nose. He knew this match was going to leave him with a headache. Especially with his twins as captains, his short tempered princess as a seeker, and his honorary nephew commentating.
"Playing for Gryffindor under Captain James Potter...," Marco began as the players dressed in scarlet entered the field.
Minerva's mind drifted to a particularly talent boy she taught years ago. A boy who gave his life for his wife, goddaughter, and son. A boy that grew into a man, but never got to see his son grow up.
Nova and the rest of the crowd cheered loudly as the remaining Gryffindors entered the pitch.
Roxanne and Ruby sat relatively close to Nova in the stands. Both Ravenclaws gravitated closer to their family, knowing it would get interesting.
Fred and Angelina greeted their daughter with large smiles before moving to join George and Lillian (a/n her name will be changed to Lillian to limit confusion). Unfortunately, Ginny and Luna weren't able to attend due to work. In a actuality, most of the Weasleys weren't able to attend because of their schedules. Nonetheless, they wished them luck.
Ruby sat directly beside her mother as they talked tactics. While Ruby might not like to play Quidditch, she loved the strategic aspects of it. It was something she and her mother always discussed.
Both Potter Twins approached eachother. Each wore a stoic expression as their feet hit the green grass beneath them.
Almost immediately, Jade tried crushing James's hand. He did the exact same to her. It was an old tradition, and it definitely wasn't going to stop for the two highly competitive twins.
"Hang in there, Jam Jam," Jade teased. "If you do bad enough, I might take pity on you."
"The same could be said for you, Jazz," James smirked. "Keep your charity, you'll need it."
"Please don't kill eachother," Harry looked at James then at Jade. Each received a pointed look. "Keep the hostility to a minimum."
"Puh-lease!" Reggie snorted. "He's talking to Potter offspring!"
"Quidditch obsessed, competitive, stubborn Potter offspring," Lily remarked with a grin.
"There's honestly no hope for him," Marlene said dramatically.
"The quaffle is released!" Marco declared. "James Potter swoops in and takes the quaffle like the last pancake during Sunday Brunch! And yes, I'm still upset 'bout it. I wanted my damn pancake."
Minerva McGonagall was immediately regretting he decision for commentator.
"James tosses the quaffle to Veronica Hampshire - oh wait...nevermind. Jade stole it." Marco remarked.
Jade shot down the pitch. Langston, a Slytherin chaser in seventh year, flanked her left.
"Nice hit from Fred Weasley of Gryffindor!" Marco cheered at the sight of his friend sending a deadly bludger at Jade. "Even better dodge by Jade Potter!"
"Thanks, sis!" James grinned as he snatched the quaffle from his twin's grasp. "I'll be taking this!"
Jade cursed under her breath and changed course.
James had a straight shot across the pitch, nothing stood in his way...except Elyse.
Tensions were high as James launched the ball at the far left hoop.
The ball flew centimeters away from Elyse's fingers.
The Gryffindor fans cheered loudly.
As the game continued, points were scored on both sides, making the scored tied 80 to 80. The pressure was on the seekers: Lily Potter and Jason Dale.
"Jade," Nova's voice came from the microphone as she stole it from Marco. "Don't flip off your brother."
James turned toward his sister and stuck his tongue out.
"Don't think I didn't see that, James," Nova stated.
Another ten minutes have passed and Slytherin was up by 100 points.
Out of frustration, James launched the quaffle at his sister's shoulder.
Harry blew his whistle, signaling a foul. However, he was ignored.
"Alright, boys, girls, and none gender specifics," Marco began enthusiastically. "The shows about to begin!"
"Sorry, I hit the wrong thing!" James said innocently. His dark hair flew across his forehead delicately and a fire lit in his honey eyes.
"No! Sixteen years ago your mother gave birth to the wrong thing!" Jade shouted.
"GET THE POPCORN! IT'S GETTING GOOD!" Marco and Marlene shouted in unison.
"We have the same mother!" James countered.
"Okay...and?"
"We're twins!"
"Well maybe you shouldn't have eaten my Cocoa Puffs!"
"I DIDN'T TOUCH YOUR COCOA PUFFS!"
"BULLSHIT!" Jade roared, throwing the quaffle hard at her brother's nose. She would've broken it had he not ducked.
"THAT'S IT!" James flew forward to attack his sister just as Lily Potter caught the snitch.
"LILY POTTER CATCHES THE SNITCH!" Marco shouted. "GRYFFINDOR WINS! 250 TO 200!"
***
After the match, a party was held in the Room of Requirement.
The Potter Twins stood side by side, all previous arguments forgotten. Jade's long golden caramel hair framed her face perfectly as she smiled and laughed, taking a sip of Firewhisky. James stood several inches taller than her, but an identical smile decorated his face.
Freddie's red hair could be seen as he was in charge of the music. Ruby was off to the side laughing with Rose and Scorpius, in their own little world. Roxanne and Marco, who were soon joined by the Potter Twins, could be seen on the dance floor.
Lily and Hugo sad begrudgingly drinking out of their apple juice filled sippy cups and snacking on the cookies.
Author's Note:
I haven't been active at all recently. There is no way of putting it lightly...I have lacked the motivation. But that's besides the point. I have gotten a lot of questions regarding Ruby's name.
Why didn't you name her after Remus?
Why did you name her after Hagrid?
As we know, Ruby is a transgender woman. Her "dead name", which is what people call the name they dropped after they discovered who they are meant to be (I have looked into, I'm just really bad at explaining it. You can always look into it more), would've been "Regulus Rubeus". I didn’t name her after Remus because Harry and Nova left Remus's name for Teddy. Also, 'Ruby' actually comes from 'Rubeus'. I read, and heard, that transgenders go with names similar to their dead names. I had Ruby's character planned out while I was writing The Girl Who Fought.
