Back to Hogwarts
Today was the day the Hogwarts letters came.
Everyone at Potter Manor, which for the first time in what seemed like forever were just the Potters, was fast asleep. They slept silently and peacefully. Even Nyx was sleeping peacefully, completely unbothered. No one faced nightmares. Not even Nova who feared one of her enemies breaking out of jail and targeting her family. Not even Harry who would wake up in cold sweat, only calming down once he saw his children asleep in their room, once he saw his wife next to him.
A loud and high pitch scream broke the calm.
Harry Potter fell out of his bed with a loud thump while his wife, with inhuman agility, launched herself from their bed with her wand at the ready.
"You take Ruby and Lily," Nova whispered motioning towards the rooms. "I'll get the twins and Teddy."
Harry, after pushing his glasses up his nose, crept down the hallway. The first room was their youngest, Lily. Against popular belief, her favorite flower was actually daisies. Her room showed nothing less than her immense Gryffindor pride. Posters of her mother, when she was a chaser for the Puddlemere United team and her time now as Head Auror, hung proudly upon the wall. Pictures of her and her siblings could be seen all over her room. A picture of her and Harry sat on her nightstand.
Much like her Uncle Ron, she could sleep through anything.
"Dad," a voice called from the doorway.
Harry spun around to see his twenty-four-year-old adoptive son, Teddy Lupin. His blue hair was splayed in all directions, but his Lupin honey eyes were focused.
"Who screamed?" Teddy whispered.
"I dunno-"
Another scream sounded.
James and Jade Potter woke up at the early hours of dawn, awaiting their letters. They knew neither of them was to be prefect, seeing as those were given in the fifth year and Minnie knew better to give a Lupin-Black-Potter offspring a prefect badge, especially after Remus Lupin, who was the worst prefect in Hogwarts history.
Jade happily snacked on her chocolate while her twin satisfied powdered donuts; cravings they inherited from their grandfathers.
When the letters arrived, it startled the twins. This leads them both to scream.
Once they stopped screaming they rushed to their letters, discarding anything else, desperately searching for theirs.
When Jade opened her brothers (it was a tradition the twins would open the other's letter), another scream fell from her lips.
When Harry and Nova got downstairs, their eyes were lit with fire. Their jaws were set and their wands were ready. Harry still had a massive bedhead, but that didn't appear to bother him. Nova's caramel hair fell around her shoulders perfectly. Teddy wasn't far behind them.
It was at that moment did James and Jade realize their parents were more than their mum and dad. They knew this before, but it was moments like this did it really settle in that their Dad defeated Voldemort, that he is a war veteran, not just the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. It was moments like this did they realize their brother was an Auror. That their mother, despite being easy-going and fun-loving, had a past worse than their fathers. That their mother was a badass that ran the Auror Department.
"There better be a national chocolate shortage in that letter," Nova breathed out in relief as she lowered her wand.
"Sorry, Mum," Jade said sheepishly.
"You wake me up. There better be chocolate." Teddy snatched Jade's abandoned chocolate.
"I mean...they're definitely Remmy's," James snorted.
"Jam Jam got Quidditch Captain!" Jade shouted as she pushed the letter into her brother's hands, taking her own.
"I what?" James's honey eyes scanned the page. As he read his eyes slowly widened. "I'm Quidditch Captain!"
"What's with all the bloody yelling?" Ruby groaned as she slunk into the room with a yawn.
"I got Quidditch Captain!" James said in disbelieve.
Nova smiled and hugged her son, despite him being taller than her.
"Holy fu-"
"Jade Hermione," Harry warned.
"Fuzz. I was going to say fuzz," Jade assured.
Nova moved to read Jade's letter. As she did another smile spread across her face.
"Jam Jam," Jade grinned maliciously. "Looks like you're going to have some competition."
"Of course I am," James rolled his eyes. "That's how quidditch works."
Jade held up her Slytherin Quidditch Captain Pin. "I'll be seeing you on the pitch, Captain."
"You're going down."
"Now, now, Jam Jam," Teddy teased. "All Jade has to do is get Elyse to-"
A white powdered donut hit Teddy right in the nose.

"Welcome back!" Minerva McGonagall greeted as she spoke after the sorting. "I'm glad to see many returning faces."
Ruby wondered how Grandmum Minnie felt after the war. After the war when half of her students didn't return. How she felt remembering their lifeless bodies.
She knew her mum, dad, aunts, and uncle were all haunted by it. The Weasleys, for believing they were going to lose Uncle Fred. Her mum for actually losing her Pa and Tonks, and believing she lost Harry. Her dad for believing the deaths were his fault, that they could've been prevented had he gone sooner.
Ruby couldn't imagine the pain Minnie felt over the years. The Marauders, Ruby's grandparents, were like McGonagall's children. They were her boys. Ruby couldn't imagine the heartbreak Minnie felt when she heard Sirius "killed those muggles and sold out the Potters". She couldn't imagine her pain when the news of the Potters' death reached her mind. When she heard Nova had gone to an orphanage and Harry to his horrible relatives.
Not only that, but Minnie survived two wars. She lost her husband to a killer plant but still fought. She granted Nova the security and paternal love she was starved of for many years.
"I am also pleased to see many new faces looking around in wonder," Minnie stated, a small grin gracing her lips. "Now I'm not one for speeches, I tend to leave those to Nova, but I do have a few announcements."
This caught the attention of the Potter twins and Freddie. The three that rarely paid attention during the opening feasts. While James, who had ADHD, had an excuse, Jade and Freddie didn't. They simply didn't like to pay attention.
"In a month's time, we will be welcoming guests."
James and Jade shared a glance, desperately hoping for a Triwizard Tournament.
They knew how traumatic it was for their parents. Yet, the twins didn't have a homicidal psychopath out for their heads. They knew Uncle Ced "died".
But they also knew he was alive (sorta) and married a daughter. He was, of course, married to a woman Nova and Rosalie didn't like very much. They did, however, love their daughter, Renesmee.
"These guests will be joining our ranks for half this term as an exchange program," Minnie announced. "Several students from Ilvermorny, Durmstrang, Beauxbatons, and a few students from other schools. For those of you wishing it is a Triwizard Tournament, it's not."
"Damn it, Minnie!" James groaned.
Jade waited patiently for Minnie to finish talking. The moment she was, Jade did something that brought many flash backs to Neville, Harry, and Minnie.
Jade Potter was now on the table, addressing the whole school.
"Sonorus," she whispered.
"I'm getting major flashbacks," Remus expressed, rubbing his temple.
"What-?"
"Your offspring, Padfoot."
"Hello!" Jade grinned. "I'm Jade Potter if you didn't know. You can follow me on Winsta at jade_potter."
"Ms. Potter-" Minnie tried, but knew it was pointless.
"Now for a more...Sirius...order of business," Jade grinned wickedly as James and Freddie stifled their laughter. "My little sisters are off limits. I don't care who you are. I will fuck a bitch up if I need to."
"POP OFF!" Elyse cheered.
"Homophobia, transphobia, sexism, racism, and people who hate Peeta Mellark and Grover Underwood will not be tolerated. Or if you hate Alec Lightwood...or Julian Blackthorn..." Jade pondered. "The only phobia that will be accept is spiders."
"Yeah we don't like spiders," Rose pipped up with a grin.
"Or chickens."
"Or ducks."
"We do like Sluggys bunny slippers," James joined his sister on the table.

A/N there will be homophobic, and transphobic slang used. The term 'whore' will also be used.
Nova Potter sat in the carriage on the way to Hogwarts Castle. She had just gotten out of work, and she was exhausted. There have been a series of robberies that she, Blaise, and Theo needed to solve.
"From fighting Moldy Voldy to catching thieves," Nova would joke. "What has the world come to?"
The reality was that the robberies were more than what meets the eye. The crime rate has been considerably low. This case has been open for nearly a year before 'The Big Three' (AKA Blaise, Theo, and Nova) too over the case.
What they didn't know, it was a distraction. The robberies, of course, were huge and needed to be fixed. However, there was a bigger picture.
Nonetheless, she had been called by Minnie. Her son was facing suspension. Which was...great.
Three hours ago, the Golden Marauders were enjoying the sun in the court yard. They sat under a tree as they laughed and planned pranks.
Roxanne sat on a low hanging branch as she grinned. Freddie sat on ground just below Roxanne. Elyse sat in the branch adjacent to Roxanne. James lounged lazily with his back to the tree as he twirled his wand. Jade was in a similar position to her brother, but Marco's head was resting in her lap as he played with her lilac purple pygmy puff.
"Do you think Dad will let us get a dog?" James asked.
"Probably not," Roxanne laughed. "Aunt Nova and Uncle Harry will end up taking care of it more than you."
"Probably not after Lady," Jade frowned.
Lady was the dog Harry and Nova got shortly after Nova escaped Greyback. Lady was a German Shepard that loved the Potters. When Teddy went to Hogwarts, he had constantly asked Harry how Lady was doing.
Now, as the author, I use past tense. Unfortunately, Lady had grown a tumor. To save Lady physical pain, Harry and Nova both agreed to get her youthinized.
The twins were ten.
"At least it isn't Teddy's grizzly bear," Freddie joked.
"Don't dis Gina, Freddie!" Elyse 'scoulded'.
"Do you remember-" Roxanne stopped abruptly as she caught sight of Ruby. "What's wrong with Ruby?"
Roxanne's question was answered by Tyler McLaggen following her. Ruby was near tears and clearly upset.
"I think we should investigate, Jam Jam," Jade suggested.
"I think you're right, Jazz."
The Golden Marauders moved towards the two.
"You're not even a real girl!" Tyler called after Ruby. "You're just some disgusting mutant!"
James immediately stood in front of Tyler. "What did you say?"
"I said he isn't even-"
"She." Elyse hissed.
"No. He. He isn't even a real woman." Tyler 'corrected'.
"What makes you say that?" Freddie growled.
Jade was oddly silent as her anger began to reach it's peak.
"Biology-"
"Listen, McLaggen," Jade seethed. "You don't get to come in here and insult my sister."
"He is not your sister. He is your brother."
"Technically," Marco countered.
"Shut up, faggot," Tyler growled.
"What did you call him?" James asked lowly.
"His fathers are faggots. So is he-"
That was enough for Jade. She moved forward to punch his nose when Marco grabbed her, pulling her back into his chest. He whispered quietly in her ear, hoping to calm her down. "Cálmate, mi amor. El no vale la pena."
"Whore," Tyler scoffed looking at Jade.
James's fist made contact with McLaggen's nose faster than light. Elyse, who had been holding James back, let him go.
No one insults her best friend.
And you definitely don't insult James Sirius Potter's family.
It was safe to say Tyler, much like his father, would fear the Potters now.
It was agreed that Nova would deal with the children if they were to get in trouble at school. Seeing as Harry was a professor, they couldn't make it seem like it was favoritism.
When Nova arrived she saw her son slouched in a chair with his arms crossed. His knuckles were split and his jaw was set.
Next to him sat another student. This student had to black eyes, a broken nose, purple hair, a tail, three sets of antlers, and looked to be the victim of several stinging jinxes.
She didn't need to ask to know he was a victim of a very pissed off James Potter and the rest of the Golden Marauders. However, he didn't have fairy wings so that means Jade didn't hex him. He also didn't have tiny legs. He wasn't hexed by Marco.
"Hello, Nova, good to see you again," Cormac McLaggen grinned as Nova entered.
"I see you don't have elephant ears this time," she commented, hiding her smirk. It was passive aggressive, but affective nonetheless.
"Please sit," Minnie waved her wand and another chair appeared.
"What appears to be the problem, Minnie?" Nova asked sitting in the chair.
Minnie motioned toward the Tyler McLaggen.
"Right..." Nova trailed off. "This has to do with my son because...?"
"Your son hexed mine!" Cormac hissed.
"Oh?" Nova raised a brow.
"According to Tyler," Minnie began. "He was minding his own business in the court yard when James attacked him-"
"He's lying!" James growled.
"Minnie," Nova began slowly. "As much as I respect you, are we sure that's the truth? We both know James isn't the type to attack unless provoked."
"James refused to speak about the incident," Minnie informed, her hair in it's typical bun. "His only words were to call you."
It was true. The moment James entered Minnie's office, he turned to her and said "Call my mum."
"Alright then," Nova said. "James, what happened?"
"He-" Tyler spoke but Nova held up her hand.
"I asked James, Tyler. I know your side of the story."
"He was rude to Ruby," James huffed. He gave his mum a look that clearly said it was about her being transgender and she understood immediately. "And he called Marco the 'f-word'."
Nova was going to ask where Jade was, knowing she'd be in here with her twin. Then she realized that Marco's "signature" wasn't present on Tyler. She knew he used his 'Buzz Buzz Magic' to calm her down.
"That doesn't excuse his actions!" Cormac exclaimed.
"I'm not saying they were justified," Nova countered, but snuck a wink at her son. "I'm simply implying that your son wasn't innocent. And that should he lie, at least make it a good lie."
"My son was simply stating the truth! Your third child is a mutant-"
"Daughter." Nova countered harshly. "My daughter. And she isn't a mutant."
Cormac shot to his feet.
What would Da do? Nova asked herself, hoping to calm herself down.
Yeah...no...bad idea. He would've been out the window by now...
What would Pa do?
That's worse...he'd be dead...
What would Aunt Flower-?
That's just as bad.
Nova abandoned asking what her relatives would do, knowing it wouldn't be pretty.
"Before you continue," Nova countered. "I need something. Kreacher!"
Before the group appeared a house elf with a black cast iron pan in his hand.
James grinned.
"How can I help, Miss Nova?" Kreacher asked.
"I just need my emotional support house elf," Nova shrugged.
"When she's scary brilliant-" Marlene began.
"Couldn't be Sirius."
After an hour, almost two dead McLaggens, and a pissed off Nova, the group finally drew a conclusion. James would serves two weeks of detention while Tyler got two days of it.
Nova wished he got more, but then her son would need to be punished more. She knew this was the best she was going to get.
As the two Potters left Nova turned to her son with a small smile, causing his worries to melt.
"Nice one, James."
