"ADONIS?" A SOFT voice whispers before shaking me. "Adonis, wake up."
My eyes open slowly before my blurry vision begins to sharpen revealing Farah's round face. A smile was prominent on her face while her small hands continued to shake me.
"C'mon! You have to see what's outside!"
"F-Farah? What the hell are you doing in my room?"
Not that I was complaining or anything...if she knew how hungry her presence made me, she would stay as far as possible.
She doesn't answer me and I watch in awe as she runs out the room in a hurry. I get up instinctively before following her outside.
The moonlight was illuminating the green grass we stood on and our shadows intertwined with one another.
The full moon energized my skin and manipulated my emotions.
"Farah, I can't be out here." I warned her.
"Yes you can." She purred. "You're out here right now. With me."
"Farah—"
"Shh!" She says. "Here it comes..."
My eyes widen in disbelief as white and blue sparks of light erupted from the moon in rapid motion almost like rain. The darkness around us was transformed into a ball of lucid energy.
Farah chuckled to herself before smiling at me. Her smile becomes mischievous and she runs out farther on the field of grass and dances with joy.
"Adonis!" She calls for me.
I didn't know what it was but I felt myself go over to her. She grabs my hands before intertwining our fingers together.
"This isn't real..." I muttered.
She smiled knowingly before looking up at the falling sky. "You're right." She says in agreement.
I narrowed my eyes at her in confusion.
She stands on her toes before whispering in my ear. "It's not real."
As if my body was pulled from underwater, I gasped instantly sitting up on my bed. My breathing is heavy and coughs roughly escape my mouth.
The bond was getting stronger and Farah's invisible pull was dangerously arousing more feelings towards her.
I growl before getting out of my bed and slipping on a T-shirt before heading out of my quarters.
It was still dark out and the pack was nearly silent. I walk down the hallway before making my way to the pack's corporation center.
I open the door to my office before sitting on my desk. I had diplomatic deals and alliances with other packs that needed to be made and I had to focus on other formidable responsibilities.
"Adonis..." My mother's voice says causing my body to tense. I look up from my desk to see her worried eyes glaring at me. "Are you alright?"
"Yes..." I answered bitterly. "Why wouldn't I be?"
"You think your quarters are sound proof? I've been hearing you wake up distraught for two consecutive days now. Now tell me, son? What mother wouldn't worry?"
"It's nothing..."
"Adonis, when your father was Alpha he used to do the same thing." She tells me.
"What are you trying to say?" I question her.
"Maybe this is some generational curse or something that is passed down from Alpha to Alpha. You need to speak with the ethereal queen first thing in the morning. Who knows how deep this can run?" My mother contrives.
I roll my eyes before shaking my head. My mother was the only person in my family line who still believed in generational curses and sins.
"I'm fine. I have just been a little off lately." I admit.
Her eyes widen before she claps her hands together as if her point was made. "Exactly another reason why you should see the ethereal queen."
I sighed putting some documents to the side ignoring her. I could hear her chuckle before she speaks once again.
"You're right," she whispers. "You have been off lately. You are barely congregating with your father, you brought a whole other pack into our borders, and you still haven't found a claim."
I clenched my jaw before giving her a look of warning.
"Adonis you have been Alpha for more than a year now and you still haven't given this pack a strong Luna." She gasps to herself. "The curse must want to eliminate our royal line by not allowing you to find a claim. You need to see the ether-"
"I claimed someone..." I growled out.
My mother's face grows pale. She looks out the door to make sure no one else was near before she closes the door and locks it shut.
"I-I don't understand. Adonis what is up with you and all these secrets?" She questions before a small grin forms on her lips. "Is it Jaxine?"
"No."
"Then who is she? Why are you now telling me of your future Luna?" She asks. "Adonis?"
"Because I can't tell you who she is..." I retort.
My mother now looks as if she were offended. "Well, my son, why is that?"
"Because she doesn't know." I answered. "I claimed her without her knowledge."
My mother eyes hardened before she sucks in a breath. "You need to see the ethereal queen...now."
The ethereal queen lived right outside my pack's borders down in a plateau. The house was old and mythical which added to the witch's aesthetic. I believed it was all for show.
I had supernatural creatures besides werewolves living inside my borders but I never allowed witches to roam inside. I didn't trust them.
My mother was so keen on joining me but I convinced her to stay behind. A part of me regretted confessing to her but I knew my mother was such a traditionalist she wouldn't tell a soul...not even my father.
BI knocked on the wooden door causing the old wood to creek with every hit. I observed as the door slyly opened and a elderly woman with fair, long, white hair and a purple dress that covered her body almost like a drape came out.
"Alpha Adonis," she says faking her surprise. She looks behind me to see if I had brought anyone else. "It's a shock to see you here and none of your soldiers, I see?"
"I need your insight and I need it quickly." I tell her indifferently. "I have a congregational meeting to hold in my pack. Today is the official day I'm announcing the integration of another pack to mine."
The ethereal queen smiles softly. "How beautiful. Shall we start?"
"Sit," she says pointing to a maroon chair with laced sheets draped over it and golden rims.
I sat hesitantly before looking around at the ominous looking interior.
"Should I explain the reason I'm here?"
She shakes her head before she smiles once again. "I already know."
I furrow my eyebrows in confusion and I watch as she grabs a gold necklace with multiple symbols on it and places it on me.
"Farah," As soon as she said her name my body froze. "a beautiful girl who you chose to claim out of infatuation. Now Alpha, I wouldn't say that was the wisest decision considering the fact that she could love another."
I growled.
The ethereal queen chucked. "Xavier? Isn't it? The warrior she's known longer than she's known of you."
I gave her a scornful look. "Look, I didn't want to come here. My mother advised me to seek your guidance."
She nods to herself before walking over to one of her shelves and picking up a mirror. "And she was right."
She places the mirror on the desk next to me. "Lay down." She orders snapping her fingers.
I grimace in aggravation before laying down on the maroon couch.
"Close your eyes," she whispers. "And keep them shut."
I shut my eyes before I hear her whisper something in Greek. Her words travel to my ears in a melodic pattern and soon I found my mind traveling some place else.
In a fast motion, glimpses of Farah race through my mind. I watch as these glimpses slow down and form into movements.
In the first glimpse I saw Farah and I in my bedroom intimate with golden energy swirling around us.
In the second glimpse I saw Xavier and I on the highest mountain top of my land in confrontation with one another.
On the third glimpse, I saw Farah standing still with chaos behind her. I felt my body try to save her before I yelled her name and the glimpse vanished.
My body resurfaced and I felt immense pressure on my chest. I gasp for air and the ethereal queen's voice catches my attention.
"Whatever you do, keep your eyes closed." She tells me before I felt her chilling voice speak again. "Some of what you saw is not reality but of some of which will enter your life in similarity."
"W-What happened to me?" I gasped still feeling the pressure on my chest.
"I subdued you. I allowed you to see a mixture of your internal desires, envy, and fears. That's the only way I am going to make you believe what I'm about to say next." She explains.
"W-What a-are you saying?" I question her.
"You will not make Farah yours through a claim," she tells me. "Because she is not an object that you get to claim with your sovereignty. She is your desire, she is your fear and envy, but she can never be your claim."
I cough. The pressure increasing its intensity. "I-I don't understand."
I can hear her chuckle once again. "Alpha Adonis, you hold a great amount of power. Not just as an Alpha but through your fate as well. I don't know if you have noticed but your eyes take on the pigmentation of gold when you see her just like they did the first time you saw her." She says her voice getting louder.
"Hell, you claimed her without even knowing a thing about her. Do you want to know why?"
"Y-yes..." I struggle to speak. My muscles clenched together at the aggressive pressure.
"Farah cannot be claimed because it is your destiny that she belongs to. Farah was a part of your fate before you even met her. You and Farah will be the first fated mates in two thousand years."
"You're lying..." My voice is now more powerful. The pressure on my chest begins to subside.
The ethereal queen sighs. "Were those visions I showed you in your head lies? Weren't those all things you either wanted, envied, or feared?"
I went silent knowing what I saw when I was subdued were all those things she described.
Her chilling voice is now closer to my ears. "Adonis, what you and Farah will have will be as golden as your eyes and the enemy will want to take it from you. You came here for guidance; I'm giving you an answer. Farah belongs to your destiny and through her you will have access to power you never knew you had."
"What enemy do you speak off?" I question her once again.
I was confused. The witch's words were twisted and metaphorical. Were Farah and I truly predestined mates?
The ethereal queen ignores me and she falls into silence.
Suddenly, I felt a scented serum poured on me and my body dramatically relaxes.
"This will help you heal from your subduction." She says before I felt her hand press on my chest.
"You have a choice. You now know how deep your connection with Farah runs. You can act upon your desires but just know once you do...you will awaken a whole army of evil. And if you think Farah is worth that bittersweet sacrifice...open your eyes."
To be continued...
