"ALPHA, WHAT ARE we to tell them?"
The question flew from Fredrick's mouth, but I was unable to focus. I couldn't stop thinking about that girl; I knew that was primarily due to the fact that I had claimed her, yet a part of me couldn't help but notice the natural, aggressive attraction I felt for her.
"Alpha?"
My eyes snapped up and raised an eyebrow at him. I sighed before motioning my hands in the air as if to shrug it off. "I have trained this pack to be as accepting as our dear moon goddess. As of the new pack we intergraded, they will assimilate."
Fredrick's eyes narrowed at me before a humorous smile corrupts his lips. "Well, what are you going to tell your father? Did you ever think about revealing this huge act of charity to him?"
I rolled my eyes. "My father is not Alpha anymore..." I told him lowly.
Fredrick put his hands up defensively. "It was just a thought."
I give him a challenging look before looking at the paperwork that was sprawled across my desk. Many of these were documents that featured contracts of alliance with other packs.
"What about the girl?"
Instantly, images of her dominated me internally. A slightly painful ache became present in my chest.
"What about her?" I breathe out.
"Have you attempted to talk with her at all? Do you even know her name?"
I remembered the conversation she and I had yesterday...well, it was not much of a conversation...but it was a start. As for her name, I had never even thought of asking.
"And what about Jaxine?" Fredrick questions again. "Have you told her-"
"Fredrick..." I growled. "Why don't you stop pestering me on how I'm doing my job and start doing yours. There is a new pack that we are incorporating into ours. Order Otis to train their warriors with our own."
Fredrick nodded slowly before beginning to make his way out of my office.
"And as for that Beta of theirs," I cut in before he left. "Watch him closely, something isn't right..."
I refused to believe that a Beta would just give up his title with no resistance. I don't know whether Beta Damon was thinking of the interest of his people before his...but things were not adding up. It was to easy with him...Where was the challenge?
"You're back!" The feminine, familiar voice rang in my ears.
Jaxine's arms wrapped around me tightly. I hug her back hesitantly caught off guard by her presence.
She pushes her dark hair away from her face before giving me a smile. "I missed you so much. The pack will be so happy to hear of your return; when are you making a official announcement?"
"Tomorrow," I answer her. "As well as announcing the integration of a new pack."
Her blue eyes widen before she returns a look of confusion. "A new pack is being integrated? How come I have not seen any of these new members?"
"They are in the west inn of our pack. They will be staying there until our pack knows of their presence, though their warriors will be training with us as early as today." I tell her. "Their pack was struggling. They would not be able to survive on their own."
Jaxine reaches up to touch my arm rather seductively. Her pale, small fingers gently trailing up my biceps.
"We have got ourselves a mighty generous Alpha." She then trails off. "I have a lot to learn from you. So in the future, this pack will have a mighty generous Luna."
My body began to grow stiff. "Jaxine," I sighed.
Jaxine eyes became innocent. "What, Adonis?"
"You know, that I'm not going to claim you right?" I asked her gently. "We have already attempted the possibility of us and we were left in chaos. That is not something this pack needs in a hierarchy. I told you, it's finished."
Her rosy cheeks began to fade, and her porcelain skin grew even more pale. "Adonis, I—No, I refuse to believe that bullsh*t. You are just scared. You are scared of how authentic we were-"
"Jaxine," I cut her off. "What will make you move on?"
"Nothing, nothing because I know you are bluffing."
I run my hands through my hair. "Is that so?"
"Yes."
"Jaxine-" I started out but I couldn't bring myself to say it. I just stared into her eyes attentively before looking at the floor.
If only Jaxine knew about the girl I had already claimed. If only she knew how a girl I had only laid eyes on for seconds had the power to push me to do something so detrimental. If only she knew...
I made my way outside the pack house after getting through a crowd of pack members that were embellishing themselves in the joy of my arrival. Outside, Otis and Fredrick were training the warriors on combatant techniques.
"Alpha!" My warriors chant at the sight of me. Hundred of my men were grouped into a complex line up. The newly integrated warriors from the other pack were lined up front.
I nodded my head in respect before heading over to Otis. "How's it going?" I question.
Otis scoffs. "I feel like the new warriors are really adapting to our more demanding training, yet Fredrick disagrees."
I watch Fredrick who was in the middle of discipline a group of unruly warriors. "Fredrick is your Beta. He has different expectations and visions for this new line up."
"Adonis!" Fredrick calls while jogging over to Otis and I. "Alpha, I'm having mixed feeling about our upgraded lineup's competence."
"What's the issue."
"All of the new ones have basic skill. The only ones that catch my eye is that Beta whom you stripped away his title, and that guy over there next to him." He said pointing.
My eyes sharpened at the sight of that warrior who the girl I claimed always seemed to be around. My muscles tightening lightly, and the veins in my hands grew more defined.
"Good," I gritted. "Keep and eye on them and let me know if any change occurs."
"Affirmative." He said. "Also, that girl. I saw her down the mountain at the coast."
Otis furrows his brows. "I'm confused. What girl?"
We turn to him in slight aggravation before he soon notices his exclusion in the conversation.
"I see how it is..." Otis confronts. "You both are some shady motherf*ckers..." he muttered before walking away.
Fredrick and I couldn't help but finally subdue into aggressive laughter when he was finally out of our sight.
"As I was saying," Fredrick continues. "I saw her a couple of minutes ago heading over there. She should be there now."
"And why is this news for me?" I ask.
He chuckled. "C'mon. Don't be like that. You know in that cold heart of yours you want to see her..."
He was right but I wasn't going to tell him that.
The coast was one of the most beautiful areas of my pack. It was fresh and quiet. Yet, if I had to admit it was quite far. I wondered how a girl so petite could get herself all the way out here on human foot.
My senses went crazy when I finally found the girl. Her long blonde hair was blowing in the wind rapidly while her olive skin was wet. She wore a white bathing suit which hugged her dramatic curves effectively.
If I was any sort of a fool, I would have ran over to her and marked her right then and there; However, I know that would be irrational and inappropriate. I had to develop some sort of relationship with her.
I watched intrigued as she grabs a wooden stick from the sand and begins to spar with an invisible partner.
As I watched her, I couldn't help but be beyond impressed at how skillfully she could perform combat.
"I know you're there." A soft, adorable voice calls me out. "We wolves have hindsight senses; have you forgotten?"
I couldn't help but smirk at her sass. I licked my lips before responding. "Is that anyway to speak to an Alpha?" I joked.
She turns around before her eyes widen. I guess she didn't expect it to be me.
"Oh, Alpha Adonis, I apologize. I thought it was-"
"Xavier," I interrupted. "That guy you were looking for last night?"
She nodded hesitantly. "Yeah, he's supposed to meet me here soon. We were supposed to—never mind."
"Supposed to what?" I question curiously.
Her gorgeous lips curled into a sheepish smile. I loved yet hated how shy she became around me. She wasn't shy when she basically demanded me to not attack her pack days ago. She was confident and strong.
"He was going to teach me the new drills he learned from his training today."
I widened my eyes in surprise. She was interested in combat?
"Why don't I teach you then?"
Her lips part before she nods her head in agreement. "I mean, if you're not busy Alpha."
The way she said my title ignited this possessive emotion in me. The emotion I had no right to, yet an emotion I struggled to control.
I shook my head before walking over to her. I grab her small hand in mine and move her arm upwards. "That's right, now keep your left hand steady."
She nods and I watch her movement closely before I gently bring her closer to me to tighten her stance. "You must be strong, and confident when in position. You don't want the enemy to sense your fear."
"So how would I know when I am to attack?" She asks.
"You have to be smart and patient with your movements but in times of war...you have to be fast and wise of your movements."
I couldn't help but become consumed in her breathing. The sound of her heart beating became this lovely sound of music in my ears. I was suddenly entranced by her; even more infatuated then I was before.
"Always make sure there is distance between you and your opponent, so when you shift you'll be at ease." I couldn't help but notice how tense her body became at my words.
"Are you alright?"
"Yes," She answers genuinely. She turns her body around to face me. "Thank you."
"I never got your name?" I ask her.
"It's Farah."
Her name was beautiful and I couldn't help but take note in the way she said it. Her eyes looked deep into mine giving me a look I could not quite read. There was something about her.
"Your eyes.." she mumbled. "They're gold again."
"Farah!" A male voice called for her ruining our moment.
She turns her head away from me trying to find who had called for her. "Xavier..." she acknowledges.
She turn her head around giving me an apologetic look. "Thank you so much, Alpha Adonis."
I gave her a grin before I watched her go to him. I knew claiming her would be painful but nothing could prepare an Alpha for the pain of watching someone you so desperately wanted and needed go to another man.
A man I knew who wanted the same as me.
As for Farah, she had no clue about how she made me feel. She had ignorance towards the chills I got while being a round her, and the dominating raw emotion I endured by her subtle touch.
And I couldn't blame her...
Because she didn't know she was mine.
To be continued...
