Life like Movie

Selene's Pov:

My best friend and I walked to our next class. We were in a lively conversation about school. The topic shifted to our relationship statuses, and my cheeks flushed with excitement and nervousness. I thought about our moments together and wondered if he was the one for me. "Um, I'm not sure. We've been together since senior year of high school, but how do you know when he's the one?" As I felt, my heart began to beat a little faster.

I smiled more as I shrugged my shoulders. "I think he is the right person for me. I mean, he does treat me nicely." Turning back to my friends. Is he the right person?" I stood contemplating while my friend's eyebrows were raised with uncertainty, but she shrugged, walking me to her next class.

"If you say so... he's a cool guy, but it's like he has a magical charm... I can't put my finger on it."

"Magical? Kai is a cool guy, but magical isn't the word I would put it..." I stop again, thinking back to Kai's eyes and the mysterious intensity behind his eyes. His look does have that effect on me. Hitting the corner, my friend and I split ways. "See you during lunch"

"See you then," I responded before swinging to the Art studio.

Grabbing supplies, paintbrushes, watercolor, and a canvas, I sat at my station, ready to enjoy the serene, quiet studio. Only a few students come in, probably from the upcoming holiday season. Adjusting my form before taking a breath, I started my slow strokes up and down, creating a dusky setting sky. A hint of purple fading into a shade of blue. Back down to a white field where flowers bloom upwards. The slick sound of the paint washing over the canvas lulled me more into my craft. I closed my eyes and took another breath as my mind entered a dream-like state.

Being awake in my dream was almost like tethering between my world and the world of my dreams—a view of a field of flowers and the night above. A mysterious person leans on the tree humbly. With a swift turn, he lifts his hand and points toward the starry sky above as if beckoning me to join his star gazing. Above, the velvety night sky sparkles with a million stars, casting a magical glow on everything below and donning a short cape swaying elegantly in the breeze.

He says, "The midnight sky holds the secrets of the stars above, yet the earth below holds the flowers and their mystical dance in the wind. Wouldn't you agree, goddess..." His soft, caring eyes return to me as I take in the ethereal world. My delicate hands blush a warm brown hue, beautifully resting on my lap. Although I can't say or do much, I enjoy the peace. I was looking at the strange person sitting in front of me.

The sky soon eclipsed back into the light as my eyes opened, looking at the completed painting and feeling a tinge of melancholy, putting the paintbrush on my lip, thinking: That dream felt so real... the sky, the flowers, and that person with the cape. I placed my paintbrush into the water and saw the paint mix into a grey sludge. Then, putting my hand on my stomach and caressing my upper stomach, I took a breath, feeling it growl. Now, I'm ready to leave the studio.

I closed my eyes before I was startled by the touch of someone, and as I opened my eyes, my gaze met his warm eyes. In the reflection of the light, his eyes glowed like rubies for a moment, his arms held onto my waist in a tight yet gentle embrace. My cheeks flush with warmth as I look up at him, my heart beating faster with every passing moment. "There you are," I whisper, my voice filled with emotion as I take in his beautiful, loving face.

"Of course, I'm here," he whispered, holding me close in his arms. As he released me, I stepped back and took his hand, feeling a rush of warmth spread through my body. We walked down the hall, surrounded by people brushing past us, but it felt like we were the only ones in the world.

Kai turned his head down towards me, his hand squeezing mine as he asked, "Dining hall?" Entering the bustling dining hall. It was filled with familiar and new people sitting and ready to eat, but all I could feel was the loving feeling in my throat and chest.

As we sit down to enjoy our lunch, I decide to go for something light and healthy. Looking down at my plate, I drifted my food around with my fork. Kai's gaze meets mine, and I'm struck again by how handsome he is, with his alluring red eyes and that smug expression.

"Something catches your eye?" he asked. I finish my bite of food, giving him a sly smirk before his hand reaches out towards me, holding a small, velvet-matted jewelry box. My curiosity piqued, I looked at the box.

Is it a ring or a bracelet? My mind races with possibilities. Then, with a flourish, he opens the box, revealing a beautiful pendant. I gasp in delight, my face lighting up with excitement.

"Merry Christmas." I feel his touch on my neck as he leans forward to put the star pendant on me. I part my hair, revealing my brown, marshmallow neck to him, allowing him to put it on me. The weight of the star pendant and the diamonds are lined in a specific pattern and fit perfectly on my neck.

I whisper, my eyes shining with gratitude. "Thank you, Kai," I said, feeling a lump in my throat. "You shouldn't have..."

But he stopped me with a hug, holding me close and whispering back, "We won't see each other during this winter break. My parents are taking me on a cruise, but I got you an early Christmas present."

He releases me once more, and I admire the pendant. "Besides, it fits you perfectly," he says with a smile, his eyes sparkling affectionately.

"Who knew you were such a softie?" Laughing at him, Kai turns away, attempting to keep his laid-back demeanor. His face sparkled, but his tone turned for a moment to be more subtle, and he placed his hand on my chest.

"That pendant is important, so keep it close to your heart." He gave me a wink, almost like he was hiding something behind that smile.

We finished our meal together, with remnants of contentment washing over me. As we part ways, preparing for our final class, our lips are near each other, and we share a kiss. There is something magical about love that brings a sense of completeness, his eyes glowed red for a moment as we broke the kiss, and my gaze fell to his chest. "Until we meet again in the new year..." I give him my farewell as I turn away. I carry his love with me.

Sitting alone filled with melancholy silence; I was too distracted watching the snow pile down outside. Watching my reflection in the mirror. In the gloomy sky, almost like watching a timeless movie... Playing with my pen, I stared into a daydream, remembering my painting. So vivid like a lucid dream..... The teacher gave his closing remarks before wishing everyone away for the holidays. I geared up, slipping on my puffy winter coat and winter outwear bracing for winter beyond the college campus.

Well, it's time to go home. I walked the regular path to my train stop, hearing the snow crunch beneath my boots, taking in the winter setting, and watching the white Christmas lights string from light posts and trees. Taking in the city scenery from the library to the skating rink lit up with a soft pink glow as the sound of people enjoying the holiday filled the area. I stood for a second to breathe in the cold air filling my body. Admiring the faces passing by and all the Christmas decorations put up. Winter was in full effect. But you aren't here to see it.

I rubbed my hands together as I prepared to enter the subway to my apartment. My parents should be home for the holidays anyway, I thought to myself as I pulled my phone out and texted them quickly. Stepping into the subway, I was hit with a whiff of hot air from the heat emanating from the subway setting. As I looked around, an eerie silence surrounded me. The emptiness was quite surprising.

My eyes scanned the area until they landed on a boy standing in the distance. He had an average-sized height and unkempt, curly hair that seemed to have a life of its own. His baggy pants and hoodie concealed his figure, making it hard to tell what his figure looked like. However, something about him seemed strange and mysterious, and I couldn't help but feel drawn to him as I took steps towards him in the lonely train station.

As he turns to me, our eyes meet, and they sparkle as I step closer to him in this empty subway station the day I first saw you.
