Chapter 1.6

"Belief is the most important weapon and believing in something is the most powerful feeling.

Because it's a belief that makes people do things, they never thought they could do.

And it's a belief that people have about someone looking after them that gives them courage to fight their fears.

Does taking God's name give you physical strength or is it your belief in Him that helps you walk in darkness? "

The moment Utkarsh's eyes fell on Squi, his body froze. His heart stopped pumping blood as his eyes went wide like saucers.

Squi was kept in a glass cell with wires hooked all over his small body.

Slowly, Utkarsh's fingers curled into a fist and with a deep breath, he turned to see Dr. Brown. Everything was silent. It seemed like the air stood still, afraid to touch him.

Dr. Brown bit his lip, but didn't move. The veins had popped out of Utkarsh's neck when he said, "What did you do to him!"

Dr. Brown bit his lip so fiercely that his teeth pierced the skin and he tasted blood. "I... Uh... I..."

But before he could say anything further, a small squeak resonated in the silent corridor.

"Squi..." Utkarsh said, releasing the breath he didn't know he was holding.

"Free him." Utkarsh spoke slowly and grabbed Dr. Brown's collar. He pushed him against the cold Hospital wall and raised him, the blood veins distinct in the whites of his eyes.

"I... I didn't do anything. I swear, your mom..." Dr. Brown started rambling with fear and took a breath when he saw the pupils dilating in Utkarsh's eyes. "Your mom is the one experimenting on him. "

"What?" Utkarsh backed off with surprise and his eyebrows knitted together. Dr. Brown fell on the ground with force but said nothing and took the opportunity to escape from the scene. He grabbed his clipboard and hugged it near while running away from Utkarsh Mehra, literally.

Utkarsh gritted his teeth and he cracked his knuckles. And as the sound of bones cracking up started filling the silence, his laughter joined in too.

There, standing in the pristine white halls was Utkarsh Mehra laughing wildly while clutching his stomach.

He was still holding onto his stomach when he dragged his feet to knock on the room's door. His eyes started scanning the insides while he waited it to be opened and sure enough, he saw the straight black hair shining under the bright hospital lights.

The door he was leaning against flew open and he fell down with inertia.

"Utkarsh? " A soft voice gasped and he looked up to find his mom looking at him with wide eyes, blinking rapidly to calm herself down.

She took a deep breath and helped him get up. "How did you-- Ah, Yeah, I got it. You are here because you're hungry right? I'm so sorry I was busy so I forgot to call Eve, wait here, I'll just ring her---"

Susan was rambling but Utkarsh had his eyes on Squi. His head was exploding with anger and all he wanted was to feel that fur against his skin.

With a stern voice, he commanded. "Free him. "

His mom's head turned at his voice and she gasped. "What are you saying? "

Utkarsh took a step forward and looked at his mom from his tall 6'3 grandeur. Susan stepped back and blinked. "Honey it's not Squi, it's another squirrel we found in woods yesterday. "

Utkarsh laughed at his mom's stupidity. She thought he can't even recognize Squi, his Squi. "Cut it out mom. Give him back and I'll forget that this happened. "

At this, something changed inside Susan. Her expression hardened and she stood straight, gaining as much height as her 5 feet body would allow her. She looked straight in her son's eyes and said just one word that would change all of their fates.

"No."

Utkarsh looked at his mom for a good five seconds. He put his hands in his pant's pockets and took a step back. He chuckled and bowed while bending on his knees.

"As you wish Ma. "

Susan frowned, not believing it was so easy to call him off. And then the time slowed.

Utkarsh grabbed the foot of the glass cell's stand and pulled it out. The force was great and the glass lid fell off to the side. The wires linked to Squi got stretched and Squi let out a wild yelp. But soon, Utkarsh threw the rod he had got off from the stand and threw it to the beeping machines.

The alarms in the hospital turned off. The sound of sirens now fill the whole room and Utkarsh smirked. Everyone had their focus on the wrecked machines and the sparks flying from them, when Utkarsh removed all the wires and picked up Squi.

Susan looked at him in just time and yelled with stretched hand to stop him, "No Utkarsh. "

And with a mock salute, he winked and left the room. He pushed the door close with his foot and closed it.

Utkarsh had put Squi in his pocket and was running towards the woods when he felt movements. With alarms buzzing in the background, he knew he wouldn't keep his mom off for long but he was ready to risk his life for that brown fur ball.

Sure there was connection between them before, but now, after that meteorite crash, it seems like now their souls are entwined.

The dirt flew past him and the sound of footsteps echoed from behind him. And with the speed Utkarsh was going, he knew they would chase him. He never had an athletic bone.

He was breathing quickly and the adrenaline had rushed off. He knew he had to go on but there was no ground.

He has reached the cliff by the hill.

And there were people behind him.

"Utkarsh, come back." His mom ordered in stern voice. Her white lab coat was dirty now but it didn't falter the diety look her long black hair honoured her with.

His voice was caught in his throat. He looked down at the pocket Squi was in and gulped. He won't surrender.

So, slowly he shook his head.

His mother Susan looked at him with disbelief. She shrugged and mouthed 'I am sorry' when she raised her gun.

Utkarsh stepped back. He couldn't believe his own mom was ready to shoot him for whatever damned experiment.

He watched his mom's finger touched the trigger. He swallowed as her index finger began pulling it.

It wasn't his whole life repeating in front of his eyes. Because before he could think anything, he felt a presence inside his mind.

"Jump...NOW."

Coincidence that Utkarsh had to run to a cliff? Was it a destined fate or was it just a random selection?

Thank so much for reading my book and it means the whole world to me and guess what, I can't be silent!!!

I just have to interact with you all. But I wasn't writing any A/N because I thought it breaks reader's attention.

So first of all, do tell me if you want an A/N or not?
*Beware I ramble a lot*

So now, since it's a sci-fi and we all love science, let's help each other by broadening our scientific knowledge.

I was thinking about asking random scientific questions like 'Why space is black?' and we all will answer it.

Make it a healthy discussion and do PM me if you have any questions of your own.

And....

Is it a good idea 💡???
