Chapter 1.4

"Scientists are trying to find a single unified theory that describes everything in the universe.

But then, we are a part of universe too.
Does that mean it should describe us, our actions as well?"

----

Utkarsh Mehra was sitting on a blue chair in his dad's office. He was constantly squirming and tapping his foot on the white floor. With his hands clutching his sweated hair, he gritted his teeth.

He took a deep breath and then chuckled humourlessly. His brown eyes were dull with high medications of the hospital and his once fair face sported dark circles and crisped skin.

"Dad, I swear I saw a meteorite there." Utkarsh said slowly and with big wide eyes, pleaded his dad.

Dr. Mehra looked at his slouched son and patted his shoulder. Young blood, he thought and took a deep breath.

It will take some time to stabilise him. He concluded.

Dr. Jay Mehra looked at his son with calm experienced eyes. He had seen teenagers do stupid stuff and believe in stupid things like Vampires and Werewolves. He snorted at the thought of existence of such creatures and maybe, his son too was just hallucinating.

"Utkarsh, I think you hit your head too hard. " Jay began but Utkarsh started chuckling darkly. He stood up, careful not to hit his fractured right hand and faced his dad. Jay was still seated and knew that his son's rash behaviour was due to him denying the patient's claims.

"Dad, trust me please?" Utkarsh begged and started taking steps backwards. "I swear I felt those waves, I swear I saw a crater and a meteorite in it, I swear I touched the rock with my own hands. "

Jay sighed and Utkarsh saw red. His breathing became erratic and his whole body started shaking. "Will. You. Just. Believe. Me. Once?" He yelled and his legs hit the desk of Jay's office. With papers scattered over it, and the diagram of various machines drawn on them, Utkarsh wanted to tear them to shreds.

And that's what he did.

He pushed the desk with his left hand and saw as it fell on its side. Papers started flying, carried away with the breeze entering the room via the window. The once completely organised room was now a mess and Utkarsh started laughing.

His whole body was shaking, showing symptoms of his unstable mind. He was kicking the table with his leg when suddenly he was turned around and bang!

He felt a rough hand meet his cheek fiercely and his tongue got caught between his teeth. He even spat blood.

As soon as Jay saw what he did, he stepped away from Utkarsh. He eyed the red on the white floor and flawless papers and hung his head low. He clutched Utkarsh's shoulders and hugged him.

When Jay was sure he heard calm heartbeats with stable breathing, he broke the hug. "I am sorry son. I know you can't control it but have you taken the medicines?"

Utkarsh had calmed down now and he simply nodded. He couldn't meet his dad's eyes. He thought he had controlled his random outbursts but it seemed like he hadn't.

Jay made Utkarsh sit and started explaining everything as if telling him for the first time that mass and weight aren't the same thing.
"Son, I think it's a side effect of your medicines that you're hallucinating a meteorite."

Utkarsh said nothing but swallowed the saliva. He was afraid that he might be hallucinating it all the time but it felt so real.

"There are no signals of anything entering the Earth's atmosphere last night. Even I was on my night shift and didn't notice anything peculiar. The meteorite you claim to be there has just vanished. There's nothing there, no proof that it even existed. There's not even the burned trees or deepened crater.

I guess Utkarsh, you fell hard and hit your head when an earthquake hit the islands last night. "

With wide eyes, Utkarsh listened his dad explain the events of last night but in a different view.

He knew last night was not just part of his imagination. He knew it was real and he would prove it to his dad.

Coincidence that the earthquake occurred at the moment Utkarsh touched the meteorite? Or was it the same meteorite who caused the earthquake?
