Fracturing Cloaks
Your eyes glazed over softly as your watched the match before you. You had been waiting to see what would happen but... what the hell... You watch Dawei just... why would he do that? Dawei in a matter of moments took down Mira was a few calculated punches. It didn't even seem like he was in this for the fight but to totally take her down. Wasn't she... weren't they friends?
Dad: Son? You alright there?
You turned to your dad and blinked softly, zoning back in.
(Y/n): Ah yeah I just wasn't expecting the fight to be over that quick.
Mom: It kinda looked like that girl was a bit hurt?
Your mom questioned next as you could hear your heart pounding in your ears at the sight of Mira being taken out on a stretcher. The thought process of your brain simply couldn't figure out what was going on. Why... why... Sadly your brain didn't get much longer to focus on it as you were called up for a match. At this point, you didn't quite care about the ranking and scores or how this whole thing would end as you wanted to go and check on Mira. A gross feeling coursed over you as you took your first step down the corridor leading to the ring. The lights... the cheers... it was that same feeling you felt as you entered the tournament. A feeling that reminded you of the two-sided nature of fighting. The natural drive to defends oneself and the bliss that comes with inflicting a blow on an opponent. A cocktail that should never be mixed yet tasted divine in the right circumstances.
???: What's your name?
You glanced around yourself to find that you had supported yourself onto the stage again. Your eyes lifted to find an opponent before you, as you had expected, smiling softly.
(Y/n): It's uh... (Y/n).
He nodded his head and went to repeat his name as the fight began.
???: Hah, I'll tell you after I win, ok?
He seemed to be making a teasing gesture at you. He approached you in a... hmm it appears to be a boxing style. Ah well, it doesn't really seem like he can-
You were cut off as a fist laced its way across your lips forcing your head to the right. Your eyes widened softly as you glanced back at the male.
???: I wouldn't daydream if I were you.
Why the hell wouldn't this guy leave you alone? You just wanted a moment to think. Just to clarify things for a moment before you do something you'll regret. You want Dawei to explain himself and furthermore, you need to check up on Mi-
Another punch collided into your face, catching your nose and causing it to pop slightly as the guy with his cocky smile stared at you.
???: I told you to stop daydreaming, buddy!
Two more fists collided with your face, causing you to stumble back a bit as you wiped your nose. No blood yet. A cold tone filled your eyes, lifting to calculate the next move the guy would make.
???: Do you need some pointers? After I win I'm sure we can find some time to ta-
He ended his sentence with a quick jab but found his wrist gripped tightly. Before the boxer could question anything a loud popped filled the ring followed by a sharp pain flowing through his wrist and hand.
???: G-Gah what the hell?!
He gazed up to find one of his fingers broken, bent backward at a strange angle.
(Y/n): I don't really have the time to play games with you right now. I'm in no mood to fight either.
???: You asshole!
The boxer barked out an insult, pulling his hand back and throwing his uninjured hand forward. Of course, this hand would no go uninjured as well, his wrist snapping quite easily in your iron grip.
(Y/n): It seems you don't want to hear me so I will show you.
Your hands cast outward and took hold of the male's wrist. With a pull, you yanked the male forward and brought a knee into his nose, feeling a crunch through your attire. Your opponent howled in pain falling back with a busted nose and wrist.
(Y/n): You've lost. Now hurry up and forfeit so I can go visit a girl.
To further prove your point, your shoe lifted and dug down onto the knee of the other male, gazing down at him softly.
(Y/n): Unless you have something else you want broken?
For a moment a look flashed through your opponent's eyes, maybe he would surrender. But of course, with pride and the like on the line, he wrenched his leg free and jumped into a standing position punching at you, seemingly not caring about any of the damage he had sustained so far.
(Y/n): I don't want to say that you've impressed me, cause really you haven't. But since you want to be put down like a dog, I will demonstrate just a tiny bit of something I used to work on.
You took a soft stance and lifted up your left arm in a beckoning motion. The boxer took a step forward into your kill zone and sealed his fate. Your left hand struck quickly, coiling like a serpent around his outstretched right hand. With your own right hand, you coiled it into a tight fist and started delivering devastatingly powerful punches to whatever part of his face you could. A morbid excitement-filled you as you could hear the crowd counting along with each strike. After reaching ten, you snaked your arm further around his, locking it around his shoulder and spinning behind the male. Locked in at the shoulder, you forced the male forward, feeling a soft pop before coiling your other arm around his throat and locking in a deadly sleeper hold. Like a serpent claiming its prey, a vicious kick to the back of the boxer's knee noosed the boxer in your arms as it was only a short matter of time before he went limp in your arms and dropped to the mat.
(Y/n): Done.
The arena was quiet for a moment as you found a renewed vigor in your bones. Your legs carried you through the ropes and toward the medical area as the announcement of your brutally decisive victory was announced along with a change in the tournament...
(Y/n): I-I assure you I'm fine...
???: Are you sure? You were struck in the face a few times.
You were inspected rather closely by a nurse, her face inches from yours as she checked for bruising.
(Y/n): Yes please can I see Mira?
???: Ah of course. There really isn't a need to worry about her injuries, young man. Just let her sleep for now though I won't stop you from checking on her.
The nurse chuckled softly, patting your left cheek before walking off to attend to a much serious case in your opponent. You knew she was more than likely lying about the injuries but pushed aside the thought to sit next to the bed with the resting girl.
(Y/n): I don't know why Dawei did that but...
You took a moment to pause. You didn't know Dawei as well as Mori or Mira, but he didn't seem like the type to do something without reason. Of course, he could just have been lying. Your hand lifted to run through your hair, trying to settle your racing mind. Lifting your gaze, You found a box next to her bed with a small card. You didn't like to pry... but, it seemed like fate that the card and box ended up in your lap so how were you to argue with that?
(Y/n): For... me?
Flipping the card open, it appears Mira knew you might swing by.
(Y/n),
Don't worry, I'm gonna be fine so please don't get mad at Dawei or do anything reckless.
(Y/n): How am I the reckless one here...
Crashing that wedding was a pretty good example.
(Y/n): Eh? Are you reading my thoughts?
I'm not a mind reader but if you fight them, I know you might lose it a bit so do your best to hold back ok? Those two are kind of freakishly strong. If you promise to not doing anything reckless you can keep the gift in this box.
Not one to look a gift...uh gift in the mouth, you set the note to the side and opened the contents, feeling your face grow warm.
(Y/n): Either you think my standards are really low... or you know me very well...
Lifting the contents of the box up... it was the pantyhose Mira had worn the day of the wedding crash.
(Y/n): I... I can't really accept this. I mean... is it rude to not accept? But It would make me look like a perv carrying around pantyhose, right?
The mental debate was surprisingly deep and as you considered it over, you took a moment to lift one of Mira's hands and place the card beneath it carefully.
(Y/n): You may be fine Mira and that really puts me at ease, but I can't just put a stop when I'm fired up like this. I don't want to roll over like I did in that one match. I'm gonna show Mori and Dawei I can keep up with the best of them. I promise you that.
That declaration filled the air before you walked out of the medical area to prepare for the upcoming fights. Beside Mira's bed was the box with the rather strange gift, but with its lid secured on top, whether the contents still remained would remain a question...
(Y/n): Mori... Dawei... I will admit that I may not be good enough to win our battle, but there is no way in hell I'm gonna give in so easily. So you better prepare yourselves because brutality knows no mercy!
