Chapter No.70. Birthday

When Robert saw James and Sylvia home in the middle of the day, he thought something was wrong. "What's happening?"

"We just decided to spend time here on an early spring day," James said. "Maybe we'll try some golf."

"Yeah, the grass hasn't started growing much yet," Robert said before smiling at Sylvia. "You look like swinging a golf club would be difficult."

"I'll figure a way to do it like this."

"That wouldn't be much of a challenge if you morphed,"

"Right!"

Robert went back in the house. James and Sylvia went in the garage to get clubs and balls before they walked to the tee off spot. James carried both bags.

Sylvia tried swinging a driver, but it kept getting caught in her maternity top, so she made it disappear along with the maternity bra.

"Little chilly for that," James commented.

"A little chill doesn't bother me. I can swing the club better." She teed up and drove the ball a hundred and fifty yards."

"Not bad for a pregnant woman," James quipped.

She rewarded him with a mock frown.

He drove it two hundred and twenty yards."

"Show off!" she teased.

He smiled.

They walked to where their balls had landed. James carried both bags. Sylvia pulled out a nine iron, lined up and drove it onto the edge of the green.

James put it on the green near the hole. Sylvia used a wedge to lob the ball near the hole, James putted it in, and she did the same.

"Let's try that again," she said.

They walked back to the tee off. James sat the bags down and chose a driver.

"Actually," she said. "It's rather muggy. I think I'll get more comfortable." She made the rest of her clothes vanish.

James gave her a mock smirk. "I don't think that a birthday suit is appropriate attire for golf."

"Ha!" she replied. "We're above the law and any silly dress regulations."

James pulled out his iPhone. "I think I'll film this."

She propped her fists into her hips and frowned. "Don't you dare! If that gets out on the internet, you'll be in big trouble!"

He put the phone back in his pocket. "Yeah, you're right."

She set her ball on a tee and then tried some practice swings before she teed off, driving the ball two hundred yards.

"Wow!" James reacted. "That was amazing!"

She laughed.

"I hope no one's seeing this," James said, looking around.

"We're out in the friggin' woods!"

"There are houses around here."

"The nearest is too far away to see anything," she said.

"Okay," James said before he picked up the bags to walk back to the tee off.

Robert walked up. "Why is she naked?"

"She says that she can swing the club better that way," James replied.

"I doubt that this would become a trend, but you never know."

They laughed.

"Are you two perverts done?" Sylvia said with a frown.

They reacted by laughing again but when they watched Sylvia drive the ball more than two hundred yards, their reaction was somewhat different.

"That was something I doubt anyone would ever believe," Robert said.

"I totally agree," James said.

Later that day, the Steris family was home relaxing when Sylvia came out of her room holding her bloated belly. "I think it's time."

"Okay!" Robert exclaimed. "Let's do this!"

They hustled Sylvia to a special room they had set up for the big event. Sylvia reclined on a birthing rig that spread her legs with her body angled to assist delivery. Sylvia was obviously stressed but seemed calm considering what was about to happen.

Everyone relaxed when they saw the baby's head crown, except for Sylvia who cried out in pain. Despite that, the baby slid out, with some assistance, to be introduced to the world. Of course, it cried, a sign that its lungs had cleared. James clamped the umbilicus and cut it before handing the baby to Janet, who cleaned it up. Robert collected the placenta. The birthing was a concerted effort.

Janet handed the baby to Sylvia who cuddled it close for an emotional mother and child union.

Later, after everything was cleaned up and Sylvia was back in her room with a hungry baby, did the rest of the Steris family relax. The baby wasted no time in suckling at Sylvia's breast.

"Hungry little devil," James said.

"He doesn't seem to be too strong yet," Janet said.

"Maybe that takes time," Robert said. "We have nothing to go on in this situation."

"Hopefully, my milk will hold out." Sylvia said.

"It will," Janet said. "Trust me. I've been through this."

"What about his birth certificate?" James said. "This is basically a rogue birth."

Sylvia smiled. "I can take care of that. I'll hack it into the State's system and register him for Social Security with the Fed system."

"The best thing is the fact that you can be here at home taking care of him and going to school at the same time," Janet said.

"Evidently, God realized that we would need that ability," Robert said.

"I'm not sure how God assumed that we would produce a child," James said. "We have no idea what that entails as far as this experiment is concerned."

"It's been rather quiet out there of late," Robert said. "Maybe this birth was expected. It's the human thing to do."

"Well," Sylvia said. "If our dog can be super, perhaps an infant could function that way too."

"I have trouble picturing that," James said. "But, then again, who am I to argue with God."

They all agreed with that feeling.
