In which Prince trusts a Firey more then a wizard.

Time passed, with Toby visiting every other weekend with Sarah and sometimes Prince going to the mortal world to visit him.

Toby ended up playing Roundtable rival with Prince, garnering a large audience, in the park they played at.

Prince ended up consulting both his father and the Wiseman, placing a spell on Ginny using her true name to protect her from the darkness, causing the source of any magic that targeted life force to wither away. The same spell Jareth had used on Prince before he had been spirited away.

Ginny was better the next time she visited, reporting that a basilisk had been discovered in the castle but had been defeated by eight seventh years and the potions master.

Toby turned ten and Ginny started coming less and less, more naturally this time and Prince enjoyed what time he had left.  Soon, she had stopped altogether, and while Prince was sad, even fae had to grow up.

When Toby was nearing his 11th birthday, Jareth sent for brochures from leading magic schools around the world, goblins from above delivering them with discretion.

"Alright. So we have Ilvermorny, which is in the states but it's relatively new so you don't get that history and prestige you would get at an older school. Then you have Drumstrang, the only school in the world to have wards that prevent any student from saying the name of a fae. Not sure if they know those wards are up but it's a no go."

"I think the fact they speak Bulgarian is a bit of a deal-breaker, dear," Sarah said, putting the Drumstrang brochure in the reject pile.

"Oh, yes. Sorry." Jareth said.

"I think father forgot that you aren't actually fae yet," Prince whispered to Toby, who laughed softly.

"Beauxbatons is also out due to the fact they speak French," Sarah said. "So is Mahoutokoro, Castelobroux, and Uagaodo."

"That leaves Ilvermory, Salem, and Hogwarts," Prince said, spreading the remaining brochures on the office desk.

Toby picked up the Salem one. "This is an all-girls school." He said, the brochure vanishing a moment later.

"At least there aren't too many choices," Prince said, picking up the Hogwarts one. "This one is in England and was founded over a thousand years ago. It's in an ancient castle filled with ghosts and secret passageways."

Sarah looked concerned. "Isn't that where that tournament is happening?"

"Tournament?" Toby asked.

"The Triwizard tournament," Jareth explained. "The wizards from Beauxbatons, Drumstrang, and Hogwarts gather and compete in three tasks with a champion from each school. I was at one of the last occurrences over a hundred mortal years ago. They discontinued it because the students kept dying."

"Why are they continuing it?"

"According to Ragnok, the director at the British branch of Gringotts, the wizards have claimed to make it safer."

"That's good," Sarah said.

"I trust the promise of a fiery not to chop my head off more than a promise of safety from a wizard." Prince muttered.

"That's not good." Sarah corrected.

Toby laughed. "Hogwarts sounds pretty cool but I would rather attend one closer to home."

"What if you attend Hogwarts your first year and transfer to Ilvermorny your second," Prince suggested, looking thoughtful. "One of us can always take you home during breaks so distance isn't a problem."
"I can arrange for an above ground goblin to handle mail." Jareth offered.

"You'll have to study during the summer break to catch up on any curriculum Ilvermory has that Hogwarts doesn't but the time gap will make it easier." Jareth mused. "We can even hire a tutor. I've heard nothing but good things about an up and coming Cursebreaker in Gringotts London. He graduated from Hogwarts with O's in all his NEWT's so he is qualified to teach."

"O's? NEWT's?"

"O for Outstanding. The top score. And Newt's are like a college degree in each subject taken at the end of their schooling, while Owls are taken during the students fifth year and more along the lines of a High School diploma."

"Oh, okay. Thanks, Prince."

"How many times do I have to tell you to call me Elwynn in private?"

"At least once more," Toby said, quoting his favorite movie.

Prince scowled and resumed looking at the pamphlets while Sarah and Jareth exchanged a knowing look.

"You don't have to make a decision for a few months, Toby." Sarah reminded him. "We still need to break the news to Dad."

"No need," Jareth said. "You just need to practice your shocked faces." He waved a hand dismissively and took a bite from one of the centerpiece peaches.

"They send a representative to MundaneBorn when they are accepted." Prince explained, used to interpreting the elder fae for any mortals in the room. "They will explain everything so if you are there when they come you need to act surprised."

"I can do that. I'll just pretend you dropped another world-shattering bombshell like you do every other mortal week." Sarah said dryly.

Prince smirked, no shame whatsoever. "Anyways, it will be Toby who needs to be convincing. The representative will be focused on him for the most part."

"Really?" Toby said, looking surprised.

"Really." Prince began, before seeing the glint in Toby's eye and nodding in approval. "Well done."

"I just mimicked the look Sarah has when you drop a bombshell every other mortal week."

Jareth laughed.
