Chapter 9- The New Team

The Grievers drop down on the ground, dead. A sign appears in front of us, saying, "The quest has been cleared. Location unlocked- Central Park . Five silver coins, 500 exp awarded."

Matthew sighs as he puts back his sword in its scabbard at his waist, and walks towards us. "So, shall we create a team?", he asks grinning, while he stretches his arms.

We all agree to it. The only way we could get past this world is by teamwork. Here, a team consists of six players. Even though we still lacked two players, I could sense a strong power and the will to fight, within our team. All of us had only one goal, and that was to survive in this world and beat the game master.

Matthew was chosen the team captain. Then, we start clearing all the nearby quests we could find. The next quest involved killing the bug biters. They were huge moths like monsters which Anderson and I had encountered before. Mathew and Amber were at a great disadvantage this time. Anderson was at an advantage, because his fire magic was very effective against them.

We kept clearing quests until it was midnight and then decide to go back to the great hall, which which is now safe from all harm.

Upon reaching, we found many people injured and also those who had suffered a near death experience. There was a board in the center of the great hall which showed the number of casualties and deaths. There were around twenty injured and five deaths.

We look at it, shocked. It was just the first day, and people have already started to die. We eat our food, silently. I haven't concentrated on what I ate. The thought of the chances of dying, had frightened everyone. I could see Matthew's hand trembling with fear, as he ate his food.

The great hall was full, so we had to camp in the central park. As it has been cleared, it looked lot more pleasant than before. The water in the fountain, shining due to the moonlight, and the swishing of wind through the branches of the nearby tress, had a soothing effect.

I lie down, and stare at the stars for a while. We had barely managed to survive the first day. If Matthew and Amber wouldnt have shown up, Anderson and I would have been done for. If we have to survive this game, teamwork would really play an important factor. I keep staring at the night sky, until I finally fall asleep.

The next morning, a loud scream had woken up everyone. Matthew immediately reacts and sprints towards the sound. Matthew was fast, so it was hard to catch up with him.

Upon reaching, we find a girl. With her clumsy, blonde, and long hair, and brown eyes, she looks at Matthew, gloomily. And then she starts crying.

Worried, Matthew hugs and pats her.
Still crying, she mumbles, "Don't pat me." She starts sobbing even more.

"Brother, you made her cry even more!", Amber says, as she pushes him aside and consoles her.

"What happened?", Amber asks her in a soothing voice.

"I ran out of coffee!", she shouts as she cries louder.

"Wait what?!!", Matthew shouts shocked.

"Okay, is it only me who's shocked here right now? You screamed because you ran out of coffee?" I ask, as shocked as Matthew.

She wipes off her tears as she looks at our shocked faces, and says, "Well, I cannot live without coffee. It's my life, and also helps me in fighting all night!"

Suddenly, a huge bird like creature, a Frageye dives down with fire blazing out from its mouth. We were a bit too late to react and it targetted the girl.

But, something quite unexpected occurs. The girl draws out a silver sword, and then a lightening strikes the bird, coming out from the tip of the sword.

Then, she says in an angry voice, "Never dare to attack me when I'm in a bad mood!"

She puts her sword. Now, her complexions were more visible than ever. Her blonde hair, sparkling in the bright sunlight, her fiery brown eyes, looking at the frageye, and her pale brown skin, gave her the looks of a princess. Now, she looked like a completely different person.

She turns towards us and bows down saying, "Sorry for acting like a child back then. I love coffee so much, that I started crying, when it had gotten over."

Matthew laughs and says, "Well its not a problem though. Well, couldn't you have just gone to the great hall, to replenish your coffee stock?"

"Umm everyone were sleeping, when I got there. So, I didn't want to disturb them. And when I went back to the battlefield, the coffee withdrawal symptoms had started taking over me", she sighs as she replies.

"You were battling all night, drinking coffee?", Anderson asks, astonished.

"Yes!", she replies with a bright smile.
Now, everyone stare at her, astonished.

"Excuse me, may I know your name, please?", Amber asks her. At that moment, we had totally forgotten to ask her name. We were just fixed in the thought of how she managed to stay awake, fighting the whole night!

"I'm Sarah", she says, smiling.

"Oh that's a very nice name!", Matthew smiles as he compliments her.

She suddenly trips, and falls. Matthew catches her before she hits the ground. She blushes, looking at Matthew. Then she groans as her leg starts aching.

"Oh my! You must have an ankle sprain. We need to cure it immediately!", Amber says, as she bends down to look at Sarah's feet.

"Yes, I guess", Sarah says, crying. Matthew lifts Sarah up, and carries her.

"Then, I should carry you to a healer, I guess!", Matthew cheerfully says.

"Y-you don't need to!", Sarah says, as she blushes looking at Matthew holding her.

Anderson nudges me, as he says laughing, "Why do I feel that its gonna turn out to be an interesting adventure!"

"I know what you are speaking of, Andy! And yes, I feel the same too!", I laugh as I say.

Well, it was not only us, but Amber was found smirking at Matthew too. But Matthew's expressions were as though he never noticed that.

"Brother, aren't you being a bit too generous towards her!", Amber says, as she smirks at him.

"What do you mean sis? I'm just helping out a person in need!", Matthew replies.

"Well, aren't you a true gentleman?", Sarah says, as she smiles, looking at Matthew.

"Maybe!", Matthew says, as he grins.
Matthew carries her to an infirmary, in the great hall, where she was treated by a healer. Then, we decide to add her to our team.

After that, we go back to clearing quests.

Most of them looked pretty easy. We had to solve quests like finding a golden key which was in the hands of a gomole, a mole like creature with huge claws, and who loves shiny objects.

There were also the other quests like taking down five drones, where Matthew, Sarah and Amber were at a huge disadvantage. But during these quests, I had noticed one thing. Sarah had the highest level. It must have been because she was clearing quests all night!

By the time it was evening, we had only one quest left, to unlock the whole town.

The quest took place in an old alley. The worst thing about this quest was that monsters could attack you from anywhere. But we also had an advantage. Anderson's fire traps could slow down the monsters, and the rest of us could have a head on battle. But we still weren't sure what kind of monster might pop out for the final quest.

We start the quest. A huge banner pops out in front of our eyes, saying, "The final 'clasender town' clear quest has begun. Kill hundred webugs to clear the quest!"

Suddenly, numerous, blue, spider like creatures appear, moving towards us with a very high speed.

This match is definitely gonna be hard. A sniper is a very slow shooter, and also Matthew, Sarah and Amber's speed was slower, compared to that of the webugs. Anderson's traps were enough to slow them down, but the webugs were just too many and few of them even attacked us from the top, where Anderson failed to place his traps.

I switch over to my secondary weapon, 'The Deathly Hand'. But even then, its firerate was way more slower, compared to the webug's agility.

All I know is that we were at a total disadvantage.

Finally, we were all cornered. The webugs had launched some kind of sticky strings, to disarm us. At that very moment, I felt like we were going to die!

Suddenly, a huge bluish white electric ball appears from the other end of the ally, knocking off all the webugs close to us. The user definitely must be using a blast cannon. But who could it be? With such kind of precision and accuracy, he was able to aim only at the webugs, and it had'nt hit us. The user must have been really very skilled.

I turn towards end of the ally to find a brown haired boy, with dark brown eyes, grinning at me. The only one who could grin at this kind of situation was, "Shu!"
