Chapter 34 ✏️
HI! BYE!
***************************************************
Miko's P.O.V
Detention. Again.
A place full of despair and boredom. Bulkhead wasn't here to pick me up yet, though I was only five minutes away from freedom. The past two hours have consisted of nothing but a nagging algebra teacher and my thoughts.
Lots of things have been on my mind lately. My foster parents, who I overheard talking amongst one another whether or not to send me back to Japan for the summer so they wouldn't have to deal with me. I mean seriously, am I that hard to handle? I'm never around half the time anyway.
Bulkhead was more fun to hang out with.
Along with that problem, I've had to deal with a rather large case of grumpy syndrome. A sigh escaped me as I stared at the slow clock above the language teachers head. My thoughts were wrapped around Hope.
I haven't known her for that long, merely a few weeks, but she was now a close friend. Maybe the 'bots have found her. Speaking of the bots, why isn't Bulkhead here yet? When the bell rang, I was the first out the door, ignoring the teachers planned speech on not coming back to Detention.
Rushing outside, I found no one waiting for me.
"Did they ditch me or something?" I questioned myself. A few minutes went by, until finally a familiar car pulled up. Mrs. Darby. Not Bulkhead. "Sup?" I asked, hoping in. Immediately, the gas pedal was slammed and we went surging forward.
"Jeez, what's the rush June?" I snapped. The throbbing in my began as soon as my head hit the window. She threw me an apologetic look before twisting the steering wheel and sending us out of town. "What-"
"Hope is back." Immediately, I perked up.
"That's great!" I smiled.
"She isn't in good condition, Miko." she hesitated before speaking. "I don't know much, but Ratchet requires my help."
We were now at the Autobots base, pulling up slowly and watching the rocky wall move for our entrance. Immediately, I was met with Ratchet yelling at everyone to give him room. His eyes showed relief when he saw Jack's mom.
"Nurse Darby, I-"
"Put her down." She ordered. Bulkhead picked me up.
"We just got back. Sorry I couldn't pick you up."
"No need to apologize, Bulk. What happened to her?" I asked Optimus. Every 'bot shared uneasy glances.
"We.. W-we are unsure." Ratchet stuttered. "Megatron did something to her when she was up there, and now she has changed."
"Her heartbeat is irregular." June stated, feeling her pulse. "I need.. I need... What is wrong with her blood?" she asked, rather startled. I gasped.
Energon was running down Hope's nose. "A nose bleed? With energon?" I asked. My friend looked awful. Her hair was practically a rats nest, and she definitely hadn't showered since she had been taken.
I was going to kick something. And I was going to do it hard.
"Ow! Miko!" Bulkhead immediately rubbed the side of his head, where I had let out my anger. "What was that for?!"
"Will she be okay?" my anger passed, I felt like crying, but bit my lip and silently watching June and Ratchets hologram work together.
"Do not worry, Miko. I do not want you to worry." Optimus said softly. I sniffed, feeling a tear run. Immediately, it was wiped away.
"I'm her friend. I-it's my job." I smiled weakly at him. Ratchet sighed, running a hand down his face.
"It makes no sense." He muttered. "Optimus, it appears she is loosing blood... energon..."
"So is she part Cybertronian now?" I asked.
"I do not know. She absorbed plenty of energon. Perhaps she absorbed to much?"
:Maybe she doesn't have enough?: Bumblebee whirred, though I didn't understand what the heck he said.
"How could she possibly not have enough?" Arcee asked. "We all saw what she did."
"She is flat lining!" June yelled suddenly. "Her pulse has stopped!"
"Hope!" I screamed, running to the side of Bulkheads shoulder. He immediately grabbed me as I jumped, as I knew he would, but didn't release me.
"You need to calm down." he whispered softly, walking me away.
"She is my friend!" I sobbed. "Let go of me, Bulkhead!" After walking down the hallway, he had placed me down. I ran back, but he caught me before I could go far. His holoforms arms hugged me close and I sobbed into his shoulder.
"S-she can't die! She's my friend."
"I know. I know... She'll be fine, Miko. It's okay." Bulkhead soothed. I continued to cry, my thoughts jumbled and my watery vision blurred.
"It's gonna be okay."
He repeated the sentence over and over, but I couldn't help but doubt.
Will it really be okay?

Wheeljack's P.O.V
"Welcome back from the dead." Bulkhead joked. I opened my optics slowly, taking in the sight around me. It took a moment for me to realise what was going on.
"Hope!?" I sat up, groaning.
"Ep, ep, ep!" Doc bot snapped, gently pushing me back down on the berth. "She is fine. Gave us a scare, but she is stable now."
With a sigh of relief, I spotted her small figure on the little berth next to me. "She's okay.." I whispered. "What happened?" Bulkhead winced.
"ummm..." he spoke so quickly, explaining what happened after I was stabbed, and all I could do was hold my mouth open.
"Megatron succeded..." my voice cracked. "I couldn't keep her from being changed again."
"Don't beat yourself up about it." Ratchet said softly, taking off my energon supply.
"Thanks Doc."
"Don't call me that."
"Good to see you again to."
"I wish I could say the same."
"you-" I stopped at a soft tapping from inside me. I gasped, opening up and finding Ryan, softly tapping his foot.
"I forgot about you, kid." I said, gently taking him out.
"Where are we? Did we escape? I sort of fell asleep..."
"Who's the human?" Arcee asked, already alert. Optimus' attention was immediately caught as he turned from his work across the room.
"This is.. um.. Ryan. Hope's.. brother..."
"I thought he died."
All the bots knew her story. She said very little about it to them, though I knew more, I didn't want to tell them. All they knew was that Ryan died a long time ago.
"I'm alive, alright." Ryan said. Then he paused. "W-wait... Hope..." he whispered the name. "I know that name... Wheeljack, is what Megatron said true?"
Which part? I wondered glumly. "Yes. You are her brother."
"No, not that part. I know that... I remember having a sister, I think.. Silas said she dies at birth."
"You remember, but he said she died at birth?"
"That's why I was confused. So my s-sister is alive?" he whispered.
"It is good to see you alive and well, my friend." Optimus said kindly. "Your sister is in medical care right now. Would you like to see her?"
"I can't really, but I can feel her." he stated, tapping his foot and looking up at me expectantly. I started to get up just for Ratchet to push me down again.
"Really, doc bot I'm fine. Let me up."
"Must you be so annoying?"
"Must you be so stubborn? Let me up!" I growled, pushing past him. Bulkhead chuckled.
"That's my Jackie."
"What i-is wrong with her?" Ryan stuttered.
"She will be fine. Her body absorbed lots of energon. But she required more, actually."Ratchet chuckled nervously. "She no longer has normal blood. It's mixed with energon.
"I'm going to take her to her berthroom." I said, turning on my holoform and standing next to Ryan, who's blind eyes were staring down at the girl.
"She requires more monitoring." Ratchet argued.
"Then you can do it in her berthroom." I snapped, picking her up and walking down the stairs.
"Wheeljack-"
"Look, Boss bot, let me have some time alone with her." I interrupted Optimus. With a short nod, he allowed me to pass and I walked Hope into her berthroom. She didn't stir as I placed her onto her bed. I sighed.
"Please wake up.." I whispered, shaking my head.
(six hours later)
Somehow, I managed to close my optics and gather a little recharge. A small groan caused me to open my optics. Hope groaned again, rubbing her eyes sleepily before opening them. She jumped up suddenly, shaking her head back and forth, looking around the room to everything but me.
"Where-" she let out a squeal when she saw me. I jumped back, and she shoved herself off of the bed and away from me.
"Get away! I'm warning you! Get a-away!" She yelled, throwing a pillow at me. It hit me in the face, but my holoform felt nothing.
She continued to yell at me, screaming for me to leave. Hurt, I allowed my holoform to disappear and I looked over to Ratchet, who raised an optic ridge at me. "Is she still asleep?" I ignored the question, looking down at my servos.
Why did she act so scared around me? What did I do? Didn't she remember me? Of course she did, scrap head. I told myself mentally. Anger boiled up inside of me. What had makeshift done?
"Wheeljack!"
"What!?" I snapped at Ratchet. He looked taken aback.
"I am going to check on her." he said, his holoform appearing down below and walking away. The other bots were gone, disposing on makeshifts remains, and the kids went home for the night. Optimus was on another one of his drives, apparently.
Ryan was laying on the couch, sleeping. His long hair fell into his eyes, and a soft snore came out of his mouth. How would Hope react, talking to him. As if knowing I was thinking about him, Ryan woke up with a start, a small scream escaping his lips as he looked to me.
"You okay kid?" I asked, concerned. He nodded, rubbing his forehead.
"Yeah.. Nightmare." He said, tapping his foot in nervousness rather than to see.
"Is she awake yet?" he asked, rubbing his eyes. I nodded.
"She... she didn't act like I thought she would." I admitted. "She acted so scared of me."
"You know she was with your evil twin."
"I know, but-"
Suddenly, small footsteps came from the hallway and Hope ran out, her eyes wide with fright as she desperately looked around, her eyes meeting mine as she stopped. Ratchet began moving suddenly, and he looked down at her, wagging a digit at her sternly.
"I told you to lay down." he scolded.
"Is is true?" she asked, breathless, looking around before her eyes met Ryans. He paused, feeling her eyes and tapping his foot.
"She's staring at me, isn't she?"
"He's not real." Hope yelled, running in the oposite direction. Up the stairs she ran and to the elevator leading to the top of the base.
"Hope!" Ratchet began. But the elevator doors were already closed. Ratchet sighed. "I will inform Opimus." Ryan looked to me, tapping his foot and wiping a few tears from his eyes.
"I recognise her voice..." he whispered. "Why didn't I remember her before? I think Silas messed with my head when I was younger... I- I don't even know what she looks like." he cried. My optics never left the door she ran to.
Scrap.
This was going to be harder than I thought.

Hope's P.O.V
"Just calm down, Hope." Ratchet tried reassuring me. I shuttered involuntarily as he came closer. "I just want to check your vitals. You gave us a scare. Please let me see if you are okay." he said softly.
I'm not okay. Everything isn't okay. Memories from before came back to me so suddenly when I woke up, I couldn't help freak out when I saw Wheeljack. Or was it Makeshift? No, Wheeljack was stabbed, right? Which means Makeshift was the one in my room, since he was healed and practically watching me sleep.
I, again, shuttered at my thoughts. Then another one hit me. Didn't I kill Makeshift? Or whatever I did to him? Groaning, I put my head in both hands, feeling tears leak out and fall onto my face. Everything felt wrong. Off.
I am in my room.
I am not a prisoner.
Everything is too bright.
Feels too okay.
Something is wrong.
"Nothing is wrong, Hope." Ratchet was right next to me and I gasped, not realizing he was so close. He already had a needle in my arm and out before I could protest. He gave a slightly amused smirk at my reaction before shaking his head and laughing softly.
"You escaped the Nemesis, Hope. You are back at base. No one is going to hurt you. especially Wheeljack. Tell me what's wrong? Please?"
Instead of answering, I stumbled out of bed, shaking my head as more memories came back to me. What Silas told me about my brother. Ryan. He isn't alive. But I saw him!
He is younger than me, he can't be Ryan.
"God, my head hurts..." I muttered angrily before shoving past Ratchet, despite his protests of me resting, and storming out into the hallway. When I reached the main room, I found Wheeljack and Ratchet, who was out of his holoform now, watching me.
"I told you to lay down." he scolded me, wagging a finger like a father.
"Is it true?" I felt rude for ignoring him, but my eyes were now set on the older teen aged around eighteen sitting on the couch. He paused his fidgeting for a moment before making a sort of groan-sigh.
"She's staring at me isn't she?"
"He's not real!" I shouted, running to the elevator. I didn't stop when Wheeljack yelled for me. I didn't stop my constant pacing in that tiny elevator until I reached the top of the base, where fresh air hit me and I stepped out into the night.
Then I started pacing again.
How could Ryan be alive? He has to be my brother. Silas and Megatron acted so certain... but then again, it could be a trick.
So there I sat, on the edge of the large rock that is called the Autobots base, dangling my legs over the large edge and kicking slowly. Thinking things through. The stars looked so beautiful and untouched.
I wish I was like that. That sounds so stupid... But it is true. I want to be so far away from others that they can only look and not touch. I want to be left alone and not bothered. Alone.
How can I be alone with thousands of other stars in the sky?
"Because everyone needs a friend." A hand was placed on the small of my back, and I jumped.
"Optimus?" I stuttered, looking away from him. I said that outloud.... So stupid, talking about stars in my head. His holoform nodded with a small smile. He had long red and blue hair, with ripped blue jeans and a black sweatshirt.
He looked older. In his late twenties early thirties. I looked away, rubbing my arm nervously with a shaky hand. "Why aWelpre you here? I want to be alone."
"Haven't you have enough of being alone? You need your friends, sparkling." Optimus said softly. "I am so sorry for the horrible things you have had to endure. But the only way to get through It is with friends."
"How did you know I was up here, anyway?" I sniffed, rubbing some tears away.
"Wheeljack informed me that you needed to be talked to... and that he was not the one able to do so." a pause. "It is not your guardians fault you were captured. You know that, don't you Hope?" Yep. That wraps that up. Now I feel awful.
"N-no! No... I just am trying to get the fact through my head that Wheeljack.. the one on the ship I was with, wasn't really Wheeljack. Optimus-" my voice cracked. "Wheeljack on the Nemesis was the closest person to Macen to eve make me feel like nothing. I though I left Macen, but then he came along. I hated him, Optimus. I thought my guardian was a Decepticon and I hated him. I wanted him dead, Optimus!" I cried. "A-and now I feel terrible about it! But he still scares me."
"You know that Makeshift is no more?" Optimus pulled me into a slight hug, wiping away a few tears.
"I-I know... I just hate the fact that he was manipulating me, Optimus."
"Your guardian is worried about you. You have to talk to him." I shook my head desperately.
"No! Please, Optimus, give me some time. I can't talk to him right now! I just need some time to think things over..." Optimus sighed, looking up at the stars and giving me another reassuring hug.
"Sparkling, I will do that for you. But know that it will only grow worse if you don't face the thing scaring you."
"Thank you for understanding."
And then we sat quietly, staring out into the night sky until I found my eyelids growing heavy. I suddenly realized that everything was okay for the most part. I'm safe with the Autobots. I am back home. Not being experimented on anymore. Back with my friends.
That's all that matters.
