Chapter 8: Moonstone

*(Y/N) POV*

The moonstone started glowing around my neck, but then it stopped. We all stood still. I didn't feel different. I looked at Wyatt, and my insides fell.

'I'm not...'

Looking down, I was holding back tears; I got my hopes up. I really thought I was a werewolf. I've never felt so beaten before.

"(Y/N), I-" Wyatt came towards me and put his hand on my shoulder.

My head snapped up as I stared at nothing; something was wrong. It was getting hard to breathe. My hands went up to my neck as my breathing became raspy.

"Are you okay?" Wyatt looked at me with concern.

I tried talking, but my voice cracked, and I started coughing. Covering my mouth and hunching over, my eyes watered. It was almost impossible to breathe. I saw Wyatt's expression become very worried as his mouth was moving, but I didn't hear him. My vision has started to blur with every beat of my heart, and my head was pounding as my brain screamed for oxygen. I was gasping for air in between my coughs. My knees became shakey as I saw this white fog being sucked from my body and into the moonstone. The more I watched, the more my body became numb; the more everything around me was a blur. Trembling, gasping for air, the only thing that wasn't blurry was Wyatt's face. He was the last thing I saw before everything went black.

*Wyatt's POV*

I quickly caught (Y/N)'s body as her eyes rolled to the back of her head and passed out. The pack started yipping with worry, whining to each other, and asking what happened. Willa and Wynter pushed them back. With (Y/N) in my arms, I bent down to the ground, laying her legs out and propped her back against my leg, my arm supporting her shoulders, her head tilted backward, limp. She was still breathing heavily; beads of sweat started to form on her forehead. I held her right hand, and it was getting hot.

"What happened?" Wynter's face expressed her worry.

"I-I don't know. She was fine a moment ago. Get some water!" I barked over at a group standing to the side, then I looked back at (Y/N), worried.

They came back with a blanket and a bowl of water, I snatched the blanket from Ralf, he flinched away. I quickly put it down and laid (Y/N) on it. I got on my knees next to her, my hands clenched into fists on my lap, my eyes darting all over her body to see what was wrong. Her moonstone was glowing a pale shade of white. Sweat was dripping from her face now, Willa put her hand to her forehead and quickly pulled it away, shocked.

"She's burning up." Willa put her hand into the bowl of water and dabbed (Y/N) forehead with it.

A wolf brought over a fan, I snatched it from them and began to fan (Y/N) with my left hand while Willa put her hand over my right fist.

"Brother, you need to calm down."

I didn't even realize how fast and heavy I was breathing. I took a deep breath and released it, still fanning (Y/N). Suddenly, (Y/N) mouth and arms twitched. I set the fan down, both Willa and I leaned closer to her to see if she was going to wake up. Instead, she started thrashing around, kicking, throwing her arms around as she screamed in pain. Her back arching, her hands flew her mouth as she kept screaming in pain. It took Willa, Wynter, and a couple of others, including me, to pin her down. She was still unconscious, but she was thrashing her head around, grunting and crying. I grabbed her head to stop her, tears were rolling down the sides of her face. My chest hurt seeing her like this. I glanced in her mouth and realized why she was in pain.

"Willa!" I was feeling a combination of excitement and fear.

Willa looked inside her mouth and gasped, "where are her teeth?!"

(Y/N)'s top canine's had fallen out, I quickly pulled the two teeth out of her mouth before she swallowed them.

"Right here."

"Ew, Wyatt, that's disgusting." Willa wrinkled her nose in disgust.

(Y/N) started thrashing again, I thought it best to let go of her head. She shook her head back and forth, grunting, whining, screaming, then finally, she howled. I saw them clear as the full moon. She had just grown fangs. Then her muscles twitched again, and her eyes snapped open glowing gold. As she growled, she started throwing the wolves who were holding her down off herself with ease. She jumped on all fours. Her moonstone was shining blue, and her fangs sparkled in the moonlight.

"(Y/N), are you-" I was cut off as she lunged at me.

*(Y/N) POV*

All I could see was black, but I knew I was awake. I couldn't hear anything except something growling in my ears; all I could do was feel the movement around me. I felt something near my right move towards me, so I lunged at it. I felt fabric in my hands as I pinned down whatever I had just attacked. A power was pulsing through my veins, and in my bones, it felt like the moon itself was beating in my chest. It felt so amazing, yet terrifying. Then I felt a pair of arms wrap around me, pulling me close to whatever I was on top of. I realized it wasn't what, but who. I didn't know what was going on, I struggled against the person holding me, but they wouldn't let go. Then a familiar scent started to leak into my nose. The growling that was constant in my ears was dying down, and I began to hear muffled sounds. My vision started to spot back. I inhaled the scent, and I knew exactly who this scent was.

"W-Wyatt?" I barely heard myself, quieter than a whisper.

Using my hands, I had to feel my way up the pair of arms, a neck, to some slightly pointed ears before I finally had his face in my hands, a blur of colors before me.

"I-it is..." Now I sounded like a loud whisper, "I-I can barely see, I-I can barely hear."

The next thing I knew, his arms were back around me, holding me tight, I felt his breath on my right ear, sending shivers down my spine.

"You're safe..." I heard his voice whisper, "Try...calm down."

I nodded and took several deep breathes in and out. Slowly the colors formed into objects, and my world was filled with sounds. I had to keep blinking to keep my eyes focused. Finally, I was able to see Wyatt's worried face.

"Are you okay? What happened?"

"I-I don't know. I was going to ask you that," I felt terrible seeing the worried look on Wyatt's face, "all I remember is feeling disappointed...because I'm not...I'm not a werewolf.." That feeling returned, I held my tears back as best I could, "then I felt some kind of pain, then everything went black."

Wyatt chuckled a little, "Okay, so do me a favor, aaaand stick your tongue out like this." His tongue was sticking out between his fangs.

I was so lost, but I did so anywa-

"What the?!" My tongue had to squeeze between two teeth. I used my thumbs to feel my canines; they were so much longer and sharper.

"Now, feel your ears." Wyatt felt his ear tips.

My hands quickly flew to my head as I felt my ears, they were no longer round and smooth...they were slightly pointy. My eyes widened as I looked at Wyatt.

"S-so am I?"

He smiled, "a werewolf."

Suddenly the pack around us howled in joy, Wyatt and I smiled at each other before joining them. Our celebration was quickly interrupted by an earthquake of some kind, causing the pack to freak out.

"What was that?" Willa looked at me as it stopped.

I raked my brain to think of what I could be, then it hit me, "Oh! They're going to demolish the old Seabrook power plant tomorrow, so they're probably just doing some testing."

Soon the den calmed down, well as calm as it could be. I was being asked questions left and right.

"What's it like becoming a werewolf?"

"Where's the moonstone?"

"Will you save us?"

I didn't know the answers to most of them.

"Hey!" Wyatt smiled at the pack, and they quieted down, "Let the Great Alpha get some rest here; it's been a long night for her."

It was sweet how he was looking out for me, and it made my insides all gooey. The pack dispersed as Wyatt helped me up off the floor. Smiling softly at each other, we got lost in each other's eyes; I don't think I could ever get over how dreamy his brown eyes are. I didn't even notice Willa and Wynter come over to us.

"Welcome to the pack (Y/N/N)!" Wynter smiled widely.

Willa's voice sounded slightly irritated, "I don't mean to be rude, but the rest of our pack needs the Moonstone. Now."

I popped my hip, putting all my weight on my left leg as I put my finger to my mouth thinking. I walked outside and climbed on top of the den. I stood there, scanning Seabrook from a distance, the full moon letting me see clear as day.

"Ya know," Wyatt made his way up to me with his thumbs in his belt loops, "Ya ignored Willa and just walked off."

"Ops," I felt terrible. I didn't mean too, "I just had the urge to go outside."

Wyatt nodded and chuckled, leaning towards me, "Ah, it's okay. So, any ideas, O great powerful alpha?" He said in a teasing tone.

"Well, O great faithful one. Can you tell me what it looks like?"

"It's a big rock." He said, using his arms to show me how big it is, "That's all I got for ya."

I racked my brain; I had no idea where a rock that big could be.

"I don't know if it'll help ya, but our necklaces have a way with electronics," Wyatt told me as he sat down.

"Electronics?" As I thought about it, the more it came together, "Electric!! Power! Lime soda!!"

As I jumped up and down, finally squatting next to Wyatt. His confused face made me howl with laughter.

Once I calmed down, I explained to him, "Our moonstones are made of energy! It's been under our noses the entire time!"

"Well," He smiled at me as he held up his necklace, "yes, but we weren't looking for these."

I playfully rolled my eyes, smiling, "Its the power plant! It explains so much the mysterious power that created zombies!"

"Then how 'bout gettin' it right now?" He said, leaning close to my face.

I blushed slightly and smiled wider, "Sounds good to me; I think Willa will like it too."

Wyatt and I got up together, and we gazed into each other's eyes. Something about the moonlight made this feel romantic.

"Then shall we?" Wyatt offered me his hand.
