Chapter One
QUICK NOTE: This book is based off of the song "Porcelain Face" by 4 Door Theater. Please look up the meaning for more context. I refer to the song a LOT. Also, THIS BOOK IS IN A WORLD WHERE QUIRKS DON'T EXIST!!

Deku
Everything that Izuku has been called since he was born. Everything that he believes himself to be. Being bullied his entire life, his brain only knew the negative. He hides his pain with a smile though, and tries to be happy; something he is not.
The kid with the cardboard face.
There are two things that keep Izuku going.
One; his mother, the kind woman who has no idea what's really going on in her son's life.
Two; the fictional world of Heroes Awaken. In this world, there are superpowers, and a class of students is trying to become heroes. Izuku loves the idea of heroes, and he truly wants to become apart of their world. Those are the only two reasons Izuku is still here. If those reasons didn't exist, then Katsuki Bakugo would have no one to call Deku.
Today, our green-haired cinnamon bun sits in class, keeping his eyes out the window to avoid confrontations with any of his classmates.
"Oi Deku," he knows that voice, Katsuki Bakugo; Kacchan "you're doing my homework tonight, k?"
The boy nods slowly, still avoiding eye-contact.
Katsuki drops the sheets of paper on Izuku's desk, then sits down and sits his legs over the desk. As class begins and the teacher, named Eichi Suzuki enters the class, a girl with (E/C) eyes and (H/C) hair steps in behind him.
At the sight of her, Izuku's classmates burst into conversation, discussing how the girl looks like a goddess.
"Class, this is (L/N) (Y/N), she's a new student transferring from (Country)." Eichi says, "Please treat her with respect. You can sit behind Midoryia, over there."
Shocked, it takes Izuku a few seconds to realize that Eichi is talking about him, so he raises his hand awkwardly. The (E/C)-eyed girl smiles, and sits down at her new seat.
"Why does she have to sit next to him?" a few voices ask, which changes Izuku's mood immediately.
(Y/N)'s face contorts, glancing at Izuku with concern. To her, Izuku was a version of herself. She used to be the bullied one, she used to hide the pain with a smile, but now, knowing how her life became a living hell, she decided to speak up.
"Leave him alone." the class freezes at the venom in her words, and the class decides to obey.
Izuku turns his head to the new girl, who smiles at him.
She reaches out, touching his shoulder, "If they give you a hard time, let me know, alright?"
The green-eyed boy nods slowly, a blush creeping upon his face. Then everyone turns back to the front of the room, where Eichi begins explaining mathematical equations and tells the students to write down notes.
After school, Izuku tries to leave the school grounds without having to see Katsuki, but his wish isn't granted at that blonde boy greets him at the school gate.
"Nerd, are you done the homework yet?" Katsuki hisses.
"H-Huh?" Izuku replies, "H-How would I get it done so quickly, Kacchan?"
The blonde boy tchs at the nickname, shoving Izuku slightly as he walks past, "Just get it done by tomorrow, Deku."
Kacchan must be in a good mood today.
"Is he always like that?" a voice suddenly asks, startling the green-haired boy enough for him to fall over into a pile of garbage.
"E-Eh, (L/N)-san?" Izuku says, trying to pick himself up.
The (H/C)-haired girl chuckles, "Sorry about that, Midoryia-kun. I guess I forgot how quiet I can be."
She leans down, extending her hand, in which Izuku hesitantly takes and stands up, wiping the garbage off of himself.
"Oh and to answer your question, Kacchan's only like that to me." Izuku says, which makes (Y/N)'s face contort into anger.
The green-haired boy in front of her almost gasps as she intensely glares at the back of Katsuki's uniform.
"H-Hey, don't-" Izuku calls out, as the girl attempts to go yell at the blonde-haired boy, our cinnamon bun grabs her arm, "You'll only make it worse."
(Y/N) eases at his touch, and suddenly her thoughts about killing the crimson-eyed boy disappear. Izuku stares at her for a moment, mesmerized that such a beautiful girl would even glance at him. Until, he realizes that he's been holding her arm for a few seconds too long.
A bright red blush appears on his face and he lets go of the girl.
"S-Sorry, (L-L/N)-san." Izuku stutters, but the girl just giggles.
"Call me (Y/N)," she replies, "we are friends now, aren't we?"
Izuku's blush deepens, "O-Okay, (Y/N)-san."
"So Izuku-kun, has Bakugo always treated you like this?" (Y/N) asks, as she walks beside Izuku down the sidewalk.
"U-Uh yes, he has." the green-haired boy replies, before looking up at the girl beside him, "Wait, why are you being so nice to me (Y/N)-san? Did my classmates put you up to this?"
The girl stops walking.
"U-uh no, they didn't." (Y/N) responds, "It's just you remind me of myself when I was back in (Country). I was always cast out and bullied for my looks, mostly by girls but still. I couldn't let them hassle you so I'll be here to protect you."
Izuku's blush deepens even more, if that's even possible, "T-Then t-thank you."
(Heart squeeze)
Realizing what she just said, a blush appears on (Y/N)'s face as well, "N-No problem, Izuku-kun."
The two lovebirds walk side-by-side for a few moments before Izuku finally decides to speak up; curious, "S-So (Y/N)-san, are there any shows or movies you like?"
"Oh yes, um a show called Heroes Awaken." the girl responds, which makes Izuku's eyes light up.
"R-Really, I love that show too!" he squeals, "There's a new episode coming out tonight, do you want to come over to my place and watch it with me?"
Wait, WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING!?
Taken aback, (Y/N) nervously laughs.
Izuku blushes, waving his hands in front of his face, "I-It's alright if you don't want to, I-I understand."
"No Izuku-kun, it's alright, I don't think my parents would mind." the (E/C)-eyed girl replies, as she takes out her phone. "Here, punch in your number, I'll go home and get ready."
So Izuku puts in his phone number and waves to the (H/C)-haired girl as she leaves for her own home.
When our green-haired boy finally gets to his own apartment he rushes inside and yells for his mom, "Mom?"
The woman peaks out from the kitchen, "Oh Izu-kun! How was school today?"
"It was okay, but I have a question."
"What is it?"
"C-Can a girl come over tonight, not overnight just to watch a show together?" Izuku asks, blushing as he speaks.
Inko drops the pan she's washing and lunges at her son, "Oh! Finally, you got a girlfriend!"
Izuku's blush deepens, "N-No, nothing like that! S-She's just a friend!"
Inko's face contorts but she decides not to push her son any further, "Oh alright, she can come. What's her name?"
"(Y/N) (L/N)."
