At the time it seemed like a bad choice. The tap on my shoulder, the question, the note telling me to meet her at the abandoned skate park across the street from my house without any explanation. I mean, how did she even know that I know what the abandoned skate park was? And to ask me to meet her so randomly? At eleven p.m? All of it seemed way too mysterious, suspicious even. Plus, I didn't even know her name.

But then again, part of me was intrigued. Part of me could trust her, wanted to trust her even.

So that's what I did. I trusted her and committed one of the most reckless things I've ever done in my life; I snuck out of the house.

And to those who are totally bad-ass and have snuck out of their house hundreds of times before without getting caught, let's just say I was a good kid and not a part-time ninja.

The skate park was just down the street from my house, so as a precaution, at exactly 10:50 P.M, I decided to leave.

I pressed my ear against the flat surface of my thin bedroom wall, just to make sure Dad wasn't awake, which as expected, he wasn't. All I could hear were his muffled snores.

Quickly, I stuffed pillows under my blankets in replacement of my body, a tactic that I saw numerous times in movies. Once the pillows looked enough like a sleeping body, a.k.a a lump of some sort, I grabbed a Post-it note off my desk, hastily scribbling the words "I've gone out, don't panic" in black Sharpie. I peeled back the comforter and stuck the note firmly on one of the pillows, carefully placing the blanket back over it.

Holding my breath, I crept out of my room, past Dad's room, down the stairs and right out the door. Dad's booming snores drowned out the sharp noises of creaky wood that followed me with every step.

The moment the front door closed behind me I let out a sigh of relief.

I started for the skate park, walking quickly along the sidewalk. The only useful light source I had were the rare dim lights flaring out from houses as I walked by, illuminating some slips of cement crosswalk. The luminous moon was covered by mobs of dusky clouds, allowing only slim streaks of white light to pass through.

After a bit, I arrived at the meeting point. Shadows cast by the hazy street lamp in front of me highlighted thick slivers of the grey concrete ramps, giving the vacant space an ominous feel.

I scanned the park, from the rusting steel rails to the decaying wooden benches, and there she was, sitting peacefully at the tip of the highest vert ramp, gazing intently up at the sky.

A dim ray of light soaked her skin at a perfect angle, illuminating her golden brown hair. Her cherry earrings twinkled in the limelight, glistening like bright scarlet stars.

Suddenly she spun around, her eyes lighting up as a beautifully genuine smile formed on her lips.

And at that moment, I realized that this might of not been a bad idea at all.
