Sibling Drama

Hello! Before I get to the epic Sister vs. Sister battle you all have been waiting for, I want to flex real quick.

Look what I did. :P

  I love it. 😩

"Where is Omega, Tech?" I ask, running back through the streets, my boots rubbing my heels.

"It appears she is in the sewer pipes, with the woman following close behind her."

"Kriffing hells." I mutter, turning into an alley. "Send me her location."

Seeing a sewer entrance, I yank the cover out of the concrete. Theres a short grey ladder and I clamber down, not bothering to put the cover back on.

As I run, I calculate my options of attack. She is going to be armed-- with either a blaster or a knife, this is an absolute. But I can't hurt her. Not my sister.

I just have to deflect her attacks long enough to get Omega back to the ship, using myself for a distraction.

She won't fall for it. She will try to take me out as fast as possible.

I jump over a puddle, nearing Omega's location. I hear Wrecker's deep voice echo through the tunnels, and I Speed up, almost running into Omega. She cries out, jumping back, before she realizes it's just me. She clings to me, her body shaking as she says my name over and over.

"Thank the maker." I murmur, pulling her into a hug. There's a clang, and I look up to see Fennec standing above a fallen Wrecker. Her fierce brown eyes look out at me from her helmet, and I inhale deeply.

"Go." I say to Omega, shoving her towards the nearest ladder before standing. I hear Omega reach the ladder, her boots clanging as she starts up it.

"It's been a while, sister." Fennec calls, taking a step forwards.

I adjust my stance.

"It certainly has." She nears me, before stopping.

"I didn't expect you to be hanging out with a band of clones, Ava."

No-one has called me that in a long time. I shake it off.

"They are like family." I say curtly. "They have taken care of me."

"Oh," Fennec said, a hint of mockery in her voice. "Just like I did for years?"

My anger flares and I take a threatening step towards her.

"When I took this protection detail we agreed to part ways." I snap.

"Yes. But I never agreed to lose my sister." She snaps back.

I attacked first, doing a quick uppercut to knock off her helmet, before attempting to sweep her feet.

She jumps, before swinging her elbow, striking me in the stomach. I grunt, taking a step backwards, before blocking a punch to my face. Twisting her wrist, I flip her onto the ground, but she yanks me with her.

We fight dirty, wrestling across the disgusting floor, each of us determined to win. I growl as she accurately punches my jaw, and I taste blood in my mouth. Gripping her shoulders, I kick her off of me, rolling so I am on top of her, my elbow to her throat, my knees pinning her arms. Her legs wrap around my head, yanking me backwards onto the floor. She is on top of me on a matter of seconds, a knife to my throat. I smile tauntingly at her, blood from my split lip spilling into my mouth.

"You don't have the nerve." I say, because I can see she is shaking. She growls, pressing the knife to my skin.

"You have No idea what I have done since you left me." She spits.

"I think I do." I counter. "You're a murderer, just like me. We are the same."

Pinning my hands with her knees, she removes a tiny medical syringe from her pocket, popping off the plastic protecter around the needle. I recognize it as the drug cocktail we used on bounties to keep them from fighting. Before I can stop her, she plunges the needle into my arm, the pain of the puncture causing me to cry out.

The drug works almost instantly, my vision fogging. She stands, and I try to, but I collapse.

"This all would have been easier if you didn't fight, Ava."

I barely process her words, but I am able to make out my own,

"Please.... please, don't hurt her, Fenn." I whisper, laying my head on the cool floor.

Useless. That's what I am.

Hunter will be so disappointed.

The ship is utterly and completely silent. As I move along, I feel the engine whirring under my feet: the Havoc Marauder must be traveling in hyper space.

"Omega?" I try to call out, but my voice is caught in my throat, and no sound comes out. I place a hand to my neck, gently rubbing it.

Pressing my fingers the door panel to enter the cockpit, my eyes widen as the door opens. The small room is.... Empty. Stars travel by the windows in lines, but there is no-one manning the ship.

I sit down in the pilots seat, attempting to pull the ship out of light speed. But nothing happens as I pull levers and push buttons. Frantic, I grip the controls, yanking them towards me. The controls move, but the ship doesn't appear to change its course.

I let go of the controls, letting them return to their resting position. My breaths coming in short gasps, I stand again, but there is someone in the doorway.

"Fennec?" I whisper, staring at my older sister. Her eyes are kind, and she holds open her arms. I run into her, wrapping my arms around her.

"I'm so sorry." I sob, clutching onto her. She hugs me back, stroking my hair. "E-everything I said was a lie. I'm so sorry."

"Shhhh, Ava." She whispers, hugging me tighter.
"It's okay." We sink down to the floor, and she pulls me to her.

"I will always be here for you, sister." She whispers....

And then she's gone, like a whisp of smoke. I fall into the wall, the solid weight of my sister gone.

"No!" I scream, banging my hands into the wall of the havoc marauder.

I clutch my arms around myself, laying on the floor. The hum of the engine is a slight comfort, and I let my tears drip onto the floor.

I can't do it all alone. I'm not strong enough.

I'm not sure how long I laid there, but I was there long enough to wonder where it all went wrong.

13 years prior.

"Fennec!" Eight year old Ava Shane called, trotting up to her older sister, who was hiding in the barn not far from their run down house. Tugging on her sleeve, she looked up at her with large grey eyes.

"Can you play with me?" She asked, holding out a toy blaster. "You can be the bounty hunter."

"I'm kind of busy, Ava." Fennec said, making adjustments to her speeder. The fourteen year old wanted it to be fast; fast enough to beat all the kids on the block. She was oblivious to everything else: Even the large red handprint on her sisters face.

"Come on. Please?" The younger girl asked, persistent.

Fennec glared at her.

"No. Go bother someone else." Ava looked down at her toy blaster, before sitting down next to her sister.

Fennec raised her eyebrows at her, before going back to her work. If her sister was being quiet, Fennec wasn't about to complain.

"Fennec?"

Fennec groaned, looking at her sister.

"What?"

"Mama is mad again." The younger girl murmured, looking at her hands. "She hit me."

Fennec froze, looking down at her sister. Her eyes widened at her face, which was already starting to swell.
"S-she hit you?"

Ava nodded, tears welling in her eyes.
"I don't know what I did."

Fennec stopped her work, scooping her younger sister into her lap.

"How about you help me finish my speeder, okay?" She said, wiping the tears off her sister's cheeks. "And then we can go play."

Ava nodded, sniffling.

"So, it's an undercover job?" Nineteen year old Ava asked, leaving back in her seat.

"Yes. And I think your fake name will be Delta." Fennec said, looking up at her younger sister. Ava tilted her head, a smile gracing her features.

"Delta Shand." She said, twirling the knife around in her hand. "Has a nice ring to it, don't you think?"

"I don't want you taking the job." Fennec spat as she watched her sister pack her bags. "Who knows what those Kamoans are up too."

"I'm protecting a little girl, what harm could it be?" Ava says, standing. "It will be no longer then eight standard months."

Fennec grabbed her wrist. "I don't want you going."

Ava's anger flared.
"Well it's a good thing you're not in charge of me, isn't it?" She snapped, yanking out of her sisters grip. "Let me do something on my own."

"On your own? Ava, we've always done everything together. Is that not enough?"

"I need to do this, Fenn. Maybe.... Maybe, someday, you'll understand."

"I'm so sorry." I sobbed into the empty ship.

"I-I never meant for anyone to get hurt."
