Prologue

I pinned my long brown hair up and took in a deep breath of air. My heels clicked across the pavement as I walked into my classroom, a bright smile on my face. My long black robe barely touched the floor, ghosting across it.

"Good morning class." I said as the door shut behind me with a wave of my wand.

"Morning, Professor." They all called as I walked to the front of the classroom.

"First things first, there will be no foolish wand waving or silly incantations in this class. Now potion making may not be for all of you, but I do expect you all to at least try your best in my classroom." I said placing my hands on my desk and leaning forward.

I saw a young boy writing notes down and shook my head.

"Mister Potter, I do expect you to pay attention as well." I said drawing the young boys attention to me.

The boy beside him had white hair and shot him a look. I let out a laugh and shook my head.

"Sorry, Professor." He mumbled as the boy beside him rolled his eyes.

"Tell me, what would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?" I asked with a smile.

"Um... I don't really know." He said as he looked at his notebook.

"That's alright, so you know where to find a bezoar?"

He shook his head no and I smiled softly.

"How about this, what is the difference between monkshood and wolfbane?"

"I don't know."

"Asphodel and wormwood are best known for make a sleeping potion known as the Draught of Living Death." I said motioning for everyone to write what I said down.

I walked through the class and continued my lecture.

"A bezoar is a stone taken from the stomach of a goat and it will save you from most poisons. As for monkshood and wolfsbane, they are the same plant, which also goes by the name of aconite." I said as I patted Albus' shoulder.

Class ended and I had both boys hand back.

"Albus, I hope you don't think I'm picking on you." I said as I set at my desk.

"I know your not, Auntie." He said with a small smile.

"You remind me of your father. I know that isn't what you want to hear, but you are like him. The same to you Mister Malfoy." I said as I crossed my hands together.

"You know my father?" Scorpius asked in shock.

"I went to school with both of them. I was in the same house as well. Slytherin and proud of it. Your father was a good friend of mine."

"What was he like?" He asked as they both plopped down in the seat in front of me.

"A giant prat. Though I was one myself in a way. But your father also helped me in ways that... no one else could. You see I had a rough life growing up." I said as I handed the boys some chocolate.

I thought it over and shook my head.

"No, I'm sure you boys don't want to know about my old school years."

"Please! Please I am dying to know how you became a teacher. I mean, Uncle George told me you were big on pranks back in your younger days." Albus said happily.

"I heard that you got into more trouble than any other student... rumors." Scorpius said as I looked over at him.

"Well, it's not a story for the faint of heart. A lot of bad things happened to me." I said as I let out a hum.

"Please! I know little about what dad was like back in the old days." Albus said as Scorpius nodded his head.

"I wasn't raised by my mum or dad. Same as your father, I was raised by an uncle. Though my Uncle Moony was a lot kinder than your father's aunt and uncle. Moony actually loved me, where as your father simply was forced to stay with them." I explained as I crossed my legs together.

They leaned forward to listen better as I recalled how I became a Hogwarts Professor and what my school year had been like, when I was a student at Hogwarts.
