Chapter 26

Harry knocked Snape out and then we learned that Peter was infact alive and that he had betrayed our parents. Ron was carried out by Harry and Sirius, while I led the way out, not wanting to be near any of them.

I leaned against the tree when we made it out. Peter tried to talk to me but I looked the other way.

"You okay?" Ron asked softly.

I shook my head no and brought my knees to my chest. All I wanted was to be back at the school in my bed.

"Harry!" Hermione yelled.

I looked up and froze as I saw that it was a full moon. Ron grabbed a hold of my arm and pulled me towards him.

"Remus, old friend... did you take your potion tonight?" Sirius asked running up to him.

Remus froze up and clawed into Sirius back.

"Run. All of you. Now." Sirius ordered.

Remus started to turn and I felt my heart stop as I backed away from him. I heard him scream and had to close my eyes, I couldn't watch it.

"You know the man you truly are, Remus. This flesh is only flesh." He yelled.

He turned and threw Sirius to the side. I froze up and backed away from him, standing behind Ron, who kept a tight grip on my arm.

"Professor?" Hermione asked sadly.

He looked up at us and bared his teeth.

"There you are!" Snape yelled as he grabbed a hold of us.

He heard a groan and instinctively put us behind him. I held onto his cloak tightly while I closed my eyes in fear.

Before long I heard a howl and Remus was gone.

"Sirius!" Harry yelled as he took off running.

Hermione called his name and before I knew it I was running behind Harry.

"Ebony!" Snape yelled as I took off running.

"Harry wait up!" I yelled as we found Sirius.

Sirius was passed out cold. Dementors were surrounding us and I covered Sirius with my body, hoping to protect him. I felt cold almost instantly and screamed in pain. Before I knew it everything went dark and I passed out.

When I came to I was on a hospital bed. I looked around and saw Harry talking to Hermione.

"Good your awake, come here!" She ordered.

I stood up and walked over to them. She put a chain around us and I watched as she spun her necklace.

"Seven-thirty. Where were we at seven-thirty?" Hermione asked as I looked around in shock.

"Dunno... going to Hagrid's?" Harry said before she grabbed our arms and dragged us behind her.

"Let's go and we can't be seen!" She yelled.

"Hermione! Will you please tell me what it is we're doing?!" Harry asked before she covered his mouth.

My eyes went wide as we hid behind a wall and saw us talking to Draco.

"But that... that's... us. This is not... normal." Harry whispered in shock.

Hermione let out a sigh and held up her necklace.

"This is a Time-Turner, Harry. McGonagall gave it to me first term. This is how I've been getting to my lessons all year." Hermione explained.

"You mean, we've gone back in time?" I asked in shock.

"Yes. Dumbledore wanted us to return to this moment. Clearly something happened he wants us to change." Hermione said calmly.

I heard a smack and turned to see that Hermione had punched Draco.

"Good punch." Harry mumbled with a smile.

"Thanks... Hurry! Malfoy's coming!"

"Not a word of this to anyone, understood! I'll get that jumped- up Mudblood one of these days. Mark my words..."

I pulled my wand and sent Draco forwards onto the ground. Harry and Hermione pulled me back into cover and we watched dad Draco looked around in shock. He stood up and took off running back to the castle.

When past us left we stood up and walked to the top of the hill.

"Look. Buckbeak's still alive." Harry said happily.

Of course! Remember what Dumbledore said. If we succeed, more than one innocent life could be spared." I said with a giant smile on my face.

"Buckbeak? But... how will saving Buckbeak help Sirius?" Harry asked with a frown.

"We'll see." Hermione said softly.

We hid behind some pumpkins and waited.

"Here they come. I better hurry." Harry said when he saw Fudge and Dumbledore.

"No! Fudge has to see Buckbeak before we steal him. Otherwise, he'll think Hagrid set him free!" I hissed out.

Harry nodded his head and we watched as Hagrid's handed Peter over to Ron.

"That's Pettigrew-"

Harry went to stand up but we stopped him.

"No, Harry! You can't!"

"Hermione, that's the man who betrayed my parents! You don't expect me to just sit here..."

"Yes I do expect you to. He betrayed my mum too but you don't see me running in there screaming." I said angrily.

"I-"

"You go in there and we will all be sent to Azkaban." I said angrily.

We saw Fudge nearing the hut and I noticed we weren't leaving. Hermione picked up something and threw it thru the window hitting the back of my head.

"That hurt, I hope you know." I mumbled.

"Sorry."

"We're coming out, go." I whispered as we rushed to the trees.

After we left we grabbed Buckbeak and got him away from the hut. We made it to a spot where we could see the tree and set down and waited.

"Before. Down by the lake. When I was with Sirius... I did see someone... that someone made the Dementors go away..."

"With a Patronus. I heard Snape telling Dumbledore when we were taken to the hospital. According to him, only a really powerful wizard could have conjured it." Hermione said softly.

"It was my Dad. It was my Dad, who conjured the Patronus." Harry said softly.

"But, Harry, your Dad's..."

"Dead. I know. I'm just telling you what I saw."

I let out a sigh and brought my knees to my chest.

"Harry, I need to tell you something... bout my mum." I said as I looked at the ground.

He turned to look at me and I bit my lip.

"What is it?"

"She's alive and... in St. Mungo's." I explained.

"What?"

"Been there for a while now. I found out last year. Remus never told me. I learned from my dad's mum, my grandmother.... Also... Snape is my father."

They looked at me shocked and I bit my lip.

"Are you serious?" Hermione asked in shock.

"Sadly." I said as I laid back against a tree.

We soon came out and I watched Past Harry walk over to Sirius.

"You see Sirius talking to me? He's asking me to come live with him."

I froze up and looked at the ground. Of course Sirius would want Harry to live with him, Harry was his best friend's son and I was just the daughter of his enemy and his wife.

"Really?"

"When we free him, I'll never have to go back to the Dursley's. I'm going to tell him I'd like to live someplace in the country. I think he'd like that, after all those years in Azkaban. We don't need a big place and I can help him.." Harry said happily.

As we watched Remus turn we saw him walking up to us and Snape. I quickly put my hands to my mouth and howled. Harry covered my mouth and looked at me shocked.

"What are you doing?"

"Saving you!" I yelled as I bowled again.

Remus turned to look at us and then I saw him start our way.

"Thanks. But we have to move."

"Yea I didn't think that thru." I mumbled as Harry dragged me away.

Hermione hid with Harry while I hid behind a rock. After awhile it was quiet and I stepped out of hiding only to come face to face with Remus.

"Uncle Moony.... I know you probably don't like me that much... but please don't kill me." I said as I felt to the ground.

I crawled away from him and he moved towards me. He sniffed the air and then stopped, tilting his head to the side. He backed up and I felt my breathing steady. Though before I knew it Buckbeak was between us and had fought him back.

"Professor Lupin isn't having a good night." Harry said as he helped me up.

"I know." I mumbled as I dusted myself off.

We soon found Harry, me, and Sirius at the lake side. Dementors sounded us and I felt cold. I set down and watched from behind a tree. After awhile I had to look away, because I could hear the screaming coming from my lips.

"Expecto Patronum!" Harry yelled walking u onto the ledge.

A deer came out of his wand and the dementors were all pushed back. I stared in shock as I saw us all three pass out. Snape soon came out and rushed over to my side pulling me off of Sirius. He picked me up while he used a stretcher to get Harry and Sirius.

"Snape really loves you." Hermione said softly.

"I know." I whispered as I watched him carry me away.

We made it to the top of the tower and Hermione pulled her want out.

"Alohomora!

Sirius tried the door but it didn't work.

"Didn't really expect that to work." She mumbled as she started to name spells.

"You might try-"

"Shut up!" Hermione yelled making me laugh.

I rolled my eyes and pulled my wand out.

"Bombarda!" I yelled aiming my wand.

"That's my girl." Sirius said with a giant grin.

We got onto Buckbeak and once again I closed my eyes and held onto Hermione.

"I hate this!" I screamed as we took off.

"You truly are your father's son, Harry!" Sirius yelled happily.

Sirius got off with Harry and then helped Hermione down. I felt his hands around my waist and he picked me up and off of Buckbeak.

"I'll be forever grateful for this. To all three of you." Sirius said softly.

"I want to go with you." Harry said sadly.

"One day perhaps. For some time.. life will be too... unpredictable. Besides, you're meant to be here. But promise me something, Harry." He said as he crouched down to his height.

"Anything."

"Trust yourself. No matter the challenges you face -- and I fear they will be many -- you'll be surprised how many times you can find the answers...here." He said as he tapped Harry's heart.

Sirius hugged him and then stood up. His eyes landed on me and I turned to look at the stars. Sirius walked up to me and gently touched my shoulder, making me turn to look at him.

"Ebony, I feel like I haven't got a chance to speak to you any. And I'm sorry about that. I hope when this is over, we can be the family your mother wanted us to be." Sirius said softly.

"I'd like that." I said with a giant grin.

He pulled me into a tight hug and I clung to him.

"Never forget that I love you." He whispered as he kissed my forehead.

We watched him leave and I waved goodbye, a giant grin on my face.
