Chapter 25
When I learned that they were planning on killing Buckbeak my heart ached and I instantly left to check on Hagrid.
"I can't believe they're going to kill Buckbeak! It's too horrible." Hermione said as I let out a sigh and nodded my head in agreement.
"It just got worse."
I looked at where Harry was looking and saw Draco laughing with his friends. Instantly my hand turned into a fist and I gritted my teeth.
"Did you see the big, fat blubbering oaf?! Oh, this is going to be rich. Did I tell you, Father said I can keep the head-"
Draco stopped taking when he spotted us, a massive smile on his face.
"Ah. Come to see the show?" Draco asked with a laugh.
"You... foul... loathsome... evil... little cockroach..." Hermione said aiming her wand at Draco.
"Hermione! Don't! He's not worth it." Ron said stopping her.
Hermione nodded her head and lowered her wand, but after she heard Malfoy laugh she turned and punched him as hard as she could in the face. His head fell back and he let out a groan. He then ran away his friends behind him.
"That felt good." Hermione said as I swung an arm around her shoulder.
We made it to Hagrid's hut and he let out a sigh as he stared at Buckbeak.
"Look at 'em. Loves the smell o' the trees when the wind blows..." Hagrid said as he stared out the window.
"I say we set him free."
"They'd know I did it. And tha' would only get Dumbledore in trouble. Gonna come down, yeh know. Says he wants ter be with me when it... when it happens. Great man, Dumbledore." Hagrid said sadly.
"We'll stay with you too, Hagrid." I said as I patted his back.
"Yeh will not! Think I wan' yeh seein' a thing like this! No. Yeh'll drink yer tea an' be off. But before yeh do- I wan' ter see you an' Ron shake hands, Harry."
Ron and Harry exchanged a look, and then looked back at Hagrid.
"Thin' I haven' seen 'ow it's bin betw'n you two? Go on now..." He ordered motioning to the both of them.
Harry let out a groan and shook Ron's hand, making me laugh.
"Good. Now then. Ron, I wan' ter see you give Hermione a hug. Go on! You two've been at it all year. An' I'm sick o' it." He said angrily.
They hugged and I burst into laughter.
"Crikey, tha's jus' abou' the most pathetic hug, I e'er seen. But yeh did it, an' tha's wha' matters. There's jus' one other thing..." Hagrid said as he walked away from us.
"I'm not kissing Fang if that's what you're thinking..." Ron mumbled as I rolled my eyes.
Fang's ears perked up and I let out a laugh.
"I'll give you a kiss, you sweet angel." I said as I scratched his ears.
"Scabbers! You're alive!" Ron exclaimed as Hagrid handed the rat over to him.
"Fang, you couldn't have ate the rat." I mumbled shaking my head.
"Yeh should keep a closer eye on yer pets, Ron." Hagrid said sternly.
"I think you owe someone an apology." Hermione said angrily.
"Right. Next time I see Crookshanks, I'll let him know." Ron said with a nod of his head.
"I meant me." She mumbled causing another fight to start.
"When they get married, think I'll be the maid of honor?" I whispered to Harry.
"As long as I'm the best man." Harry said with a laugh.
Before I knew it something hit the back of my head. I turned around and gasped as I saw Dumbledore walking down the path.
"Yeh got to go! It's almost dark. Anyone sees yeh outside the castle it'll be trouble! Big trouble! 'Specially you, Harry."
Hagrid snuck us out the back and we hid behind some pumpkins. When the coast was clear we ran back to the castle. We stared down at a Hagrid's hut and I felt tears stream down my face as I saw the axe go down. I instantly hugged Hermione, who was hugging Harry. Ron let out a sigh and wrapped an arm around both of us.
"Ouch! Scabbers bite me. Come back!" Ron yelled as he chased his rat.
"Ron, come back!" I yelled chasing him.
Ron fell to the ground and caught his rat, just as we made it to the whomping willow.
"Ron, you have to move now!" I yelled in fear.
His face turned to one of fear and he pointed behind us.
"It's the grim!" Ron yelled making us all turn around.
A dog came out of no were and ran past us, charging at Ron. It grabbed his leg and he was dragged into the tree. We tried to grab his hand but barely missed. I stood up in time to be hit by a tree branch. I grabbed a hold of it and screamed as it threw me all over the place.
"Harry!!!"
Hermione was grabbed too and I instantly let out a scream as I fell into the hole. Harry soon came down and then Hermione, behind him.
"Lumos." I mumbled lighting the passage way.
"Where do you suppose this goes?" Hermione mumbled as I rubbed my shoulders.
"I have a hunch. I just hope I'm wrong..." Harry mumbled as we walked through the passage way.
"We are in the Shrieking Shack, aren't we?" I asked as fear crept into me.
Harry nodded his head and we continued to look around. I heard a sound and rushed to find Ron on the ground.
"Ron!" I exclaimed as I ran up to him.
I pulled him into a hug before he could speak.
"It's a trap, Harry. He's an Animagus..." Ron said pointing behind us.
The door slammed shut and I turned to see Sirius Black standing behind us, a smile on his face. I pulled my wand out along with Harry and stood up aiming it at him.
"If you want to kill Harry, you'll- you'll... have to kill us, too!" Ron yelled trying to stand.
"Sit back down you idiot... No. Only one will die tonight." Sirius said calmly.
"Then it'll be you!" Harry yelled tackling him to the ground.
Harry pinned him down as Sirius laughed like a mad man. Harry pointed his wand at him and I held my breath.
"Going to kill me, Harry?" Sirius asked with a laugh.
Just then Remus came in and took Harry's wand from him. He motioned for Harry to go while he walked up to Sirius.
"Professor Lupin!" Hermione yelled as I set Ron back downs
"Looking a bit ragged, aren't we, Sirius? Finally the skin reflects the madness within." Remus said staring down at him.
"You'd know all about the madness within, wouldn't you, Remus?" Sirius asked with a laugh.
My heart skipped a beat as I watched Remus stare down at him. After a couple seconds he put his wand away and helped Sirius up. They hugged and I froze up as Ron held onto my hand.
"No! I trusted you! I covered up for you. And all this time you've been his friend! He's a werewolf! That's why he's been missing classes!" Hermione exclaimed.
"How long have you known?" Remus asked while Ron squeezed my hand.
"Since Professor Snape set the essay."
"Did you know?" Ron asked looking at me.
"Since I was like five. Guys they are Moony and Padfoot." I said with a groan.
"He's the asshole that kicked you out?" Harry asked in shock.
"You kicked her out-"
"Moving on. You really are the smartest, wait I didn't tell you when you were five, I didn't tell you at all." Remus said shooting me a look.
"Yes, you glow like the sun. And you howl at the moon. Enough talk! He dies. Now. If you won't do it with me, Remus, I'll do it alone." Sirius said angrily.
"Sirius wait-"
"I did my waiting! Twelve years of it! In Azkaban! Trust me, you wouldn't have lasted a week!" Sirius yelled angrily.
"All right then. As you wish, but let me at least tell Harry why."
"I know why. You betrayed my parents! You sold them to Voldemort!"
"It's a lie! I never would've betrayed James and Lily!" Sirius yelled.
"Harry! You've got to listen-"
"Did he listen! When my mother was dying! When my aunt! His wife died! Did he hear her screaming!" Harry yelled cutting Remus off.
I froze up almost instantly, I hadn't told Harry about my mother. I didn't know how, how could I tell him that my mother was alive."
"No! I wasn't there! And I'll regret it the rest of my life!" Sirius yelled angrily.
"Someone else betrayed your parents, Harry. Someone in this room right now. Someone who, until quite recently, I believed to be dead." Remus said calmly.
"He's as good as dead." Sirius mumbled angrily.
"What're you talking about? There's nobody here." Harry said as we looked around the room.
"Oh yes there is..."
Sirius looked over at Ron and walked towards him.
"Come out, come out, Peter! Come out, come out and play..."
I stood in front of Ron and Sirius stopped.
"Expelliarmus!" A voice yelled taking the wands from Remus and Sirius.
I instantly let out a sigh of relief upon seeing Snape walk into the room.
"Ah, vengeance is sweet. How I hoped I'd be the one to catch you." Snape said with a smirk.
"Severus-"
He pointed his wand at Remus who took a step back.
"I told Dumbledore, you were helping your old friend into the castle. And here's the proof." Snape said angrily.
"Brilliant! And as usual dead wrong. Now give us our wands back. Remus and I have a bit of unfinished business to tend to."
Snape pointed his wand to his neck and I held my breath. Ron pulled me towards him and kept a hold of my hand.
"Give me a reason, I beg you." Snape hissed out.
"Don't be a fool, Severus!" Remus begged.
"He can't help it, it's a habit by now. I bet you're still pissed that Cass chose me-"
"Keep my mothers name out of your mouth!" I yelled angrily.
Snape turned to look at me and so did Sirius. Sirius' smile faded and he instantly had a look of regret.
"How dare you use her! How dare you bring her into this! Hasn't she suffered enough!" I yelled as tears streamed down my face.
Hermione quickly pulled me to her and pulled me into a hug. I closed my eyes and frowned out everything else. I didn't want to hear it, I wouldn't hear it.
