Chapter 11
When it was time to return to Hogwarts, I was shocked to learn that I was taking different classes than my peers. I decided the best person to question, was Snape himself.
"Professor Snape... why do I have a different schedule then everyone else?" I asked walking into his classroom.
"Professor Dumbledore has requested it. He said that you are being wasted in normal class, so he has requested me to allow you to instead take forth year classes. You will be studying with Slytherin and Gryffindor is that a problem?" He asked with a frown.
"No sir, thank you."
I went to leave but was stopped by Snape once more.
"You will also be having an extra potions class with me. Were I will be making sure you don't... stray behind." Snape said calmly.
"Yes sir." I said nodding my head.
I quickly turned back around and returned to my dormitory. As I plopped down on my bed, a giant smile on my face. If I was taking better classes then that must mean I would be able to graduate ahead of my class, something that very few people have done.
This year was going great, I had yet to be given detention with the twins and was hoping to make it to at least a week. As I walked through the corridors, I heard people talking, making me stop and listen in as I heard Harry's voice. I watch as the quidditch team stood in the courtyard, both Slytherin and Gryffindor.
"I, Professor Severus Snape, do hereby give the Slytherin team permission to practice today, owing to the need to train their new Seeker." You've got a new Seeker, who?" Oliver asked angrily.
Marcus stepped to the side and I watched as Draco walked towards the Gryffindor's.
"Malfoy?" Harry asked in shock.
"That's right. And that's not all that's new this year." Draco said showing his broom.
Almost all of the team had the same broom, leading me to believe Draco had bribed his way onto the team.
"Those are Nimbus 2001s. How did you get those?" Ron asked in shock.
"A gift from Draco's father." Marcus said with a smirk.
"You see, Weasley, unlike some, my father can afford the best." Draco said cheerfully.
"At least no one on the Gryffindor team had to buy their way in. They got in on pure talent." Hermione mumbled under her breath.
Draco glared at her, in annoyance and I knew as soon as he stood in front of her that something was going to happen.
"No one asked your opinion, you filthy little Mudblood." Draco hissed out.
And goodbye to no detention, I quickly pulled my wand out and walked over to them.
"Incarcerous!" I yelled causing rope to wrap around Draco and make him fall to the ground.
"Miss Potter!" A voice yelled from behind me.
"Damn it. Every time." I mumbled as I let out a sigh.
"Though I understand wanting to tie up Mister Malfoy, I can not stand by and allow it to happen. Detention."
McGonagall walked up to us and with a wave of her hand untied Draco.
"But professor-"
"Detention, with me tonight. No excuses."
"But he insulted Hermione! He called her... he called her the m word. He had it coming! He is a Prat!"
"Two weeks. Keep talking and I shall make it three." She said sternly.
I let out a sigh and nodded my head, I knew I couldn't get out of it so I didn't even try to. When detention came I saw the twins already there.
"What did you two do?" I asked with a laugh.
"Hexed Marcus-"
"- and broke Draco's broom, by accident of course." Fred said with a smirk.
I shook my head and set down at a desk. McGonagall ended up giving us each an essay to write, and we had to finish it before we were allowed to leave.
"Before you leave I need to talk to you, Potter." McGonagall said calmly.
The twins rushed out of the room, mostly likely to eaves drop on her conversation.
"Miss Potter. I hope you realize your mother had been my favorite student, growing up. She was brave and loyal. She was kind and she stood up to those who couldn't fight back. She was a true Gryffindor, thru and thru."
"This were you say I'd disappoint her?" I mumbled looking at the ground.
"No, this is where I say that you remind me of her. I see so much of your mother inside of you and you don't even know it. I just hope you will keep being you and never allow anyone to burn your light out." McGonagall said soflty.
"Thank you professor."
She nodded her head and I quickly left the room, smiling as I thought about what she said.
When breakfast came the next morning, I was shocked to see a letter from my grandmother.
Dear Ebony,
I know you know little about me but I was wanting to get a chance to know you. My name is Eileen Prince and I am your father's mother. Your father had asked me not to contact you for fear of you learning his identity.
But I feel that as your grandmother I should at least try to contact you now that you are a young woman. I have high hopes for your future and would like a chance to be in it.
Your grandmother.
A small smile spread across my face as I quickly rushed to my room to scribble a reply back to her.
Dear Eileen or grandmother,
I don't know what you would like for me to call you, but I'd love to get to know you and maybe learn a little about my father.
You don't have to tell me his name but I'd like to know more about him, I know pretty much nothing.
I'd love to learn more about you as well. I hardly know anything about my family, besides from my mother's side.
I am right now living with the Weasley Family, they are some wonderful people.
Love Ebony,
I quickly sent the letter out a giant grin on my face as I watched my owl disappear.
