Chapter 9

You walked down the street with Koujaku by your side. You were well into Black Dragon territory now and nearly at the hideout.

"I'm not sure how bad it's going to be in there so I'll apologise now. It's not usually like that." You told him.

"Honestly it's fine but may I ask who this Shuu is? He seems like a trouble maker."

"That's not even the half of it. I recruited him about a year ago. He's a great fighter but also very quick tempered. He doesn't get along with people and only stops by the hide out once a month if that. When he does come somebody does or says something to set him off and he starts a fight. He's the kind of guy that is able to get everyone around him angry and most of the people in the team get dragged into his ridiculous fights. The only one able to stop his little rampages is me."

"Wow, that's impressive."

"Not really. He knows that I could take him in a fight if it came down to it. I'm about the only one that can take him in a fight. It was when he and I first met, he was bullying these two guys in my gang so naturally I stood up for them. I beat him to a pulp and I guess I gained his respect. About a month later when his wounds had healed he came begging me to let him join the gang. I was a little weary at first. He was strong and pretty brave too but I was worried about his loyalty. I guess I didn't need to be though. That guy would take a bullet for anyone in the team, I know that...even if he doesn't show it."

"You seem to make a large impression on people them." You shrugged.

"Yeah I guess." You turned a corner and you heard Koujaku following you. You heard the members of your team before you saw them. You sighed and opened the door to the hide out. You froze when you saw the state of the place. Tables were unturned, people were throwing punches everywhere, hoping one would hit. It was loud, hot and everyone was yelling.

"(Y/n) thank goodness you're here." Said Meg as she ran over to you, avoiding the bottles that were being thrown around. There was a slightly panicked look on her face and she tightly wrapped her arms around you. "I tried my best to calm them down but it didn't work."

"Where's Shuu?" You asked her with a stern face. You were not happy about any of this.

"I think he's somewhere in the middle of the crowd. He got mad when someone..." She stopped talking when she saw Koujaku stood behind you looking on at the scene. Her face became slightly defensive. "Who's that?"

"It doesn't matter right now." You told her with a sigh. You pushed past her and began to make your way into the crowd. Some people saw you and stopped fighting, some bowed their heads in shame, others backed away completely seeing your unhappy face. By the time you had made your way to the middle the fighting had stopped and everyone was stood around in silence. You eyes fell on the young dirty blonde boy with a spider tattoo on his neck. He was still beating his victim, not seeing who was stood behind him.

"Shuu!" You said letting your anger come out in your voice. The whole room was silent as Shuu turned around to face you. Your face was one of thunder and you saw him seem to shrink slightly under your terrifying gaze. "What are you doing?" You asked him sternly.

"I...well this guy said I was stupid..."

"So you hit him?" You asked cutting him off.

"Well I got pissed so yeah I..." Shuu was cut off when your fist met his face. He let out a surprised cry and flew a few feet across the room. You brought your hand back and cracked your knuckles before looking around.

"Anyone else feel like starting a fight today?" You asked looking at your other team members. Everyone was looking at the floor. "We're a team, we're meant to help each other not fight each other like this. I don't care what they did or what they said you do not hurt each other like that and if you do I'll be the one to punish you for it. We have bigger problems right now and we can't be fighting among ourselves like this. You're aware that people are disappearing and a few days ago the whole of Dry Juice vanished too." The crowd was completely silent. "I just visited their hide out. I don't know what happened there but it was serious and if we're not careful something like that could happen here. If any of you have any information about what might have happened to them let me know straight away. It's our duty to do all we can to help our fellow Rub groups. We owe it to Dry Juice. Now clean this place up and go home." You ordered them and then made your way back to Meg and Koujaku. You sighed and made your way up the stairs to the small balcony were you usually sat. Meg and Koujaku followed you up and you watched as everyone began to clean up rather silently. You hated what you just did but everything you said was true. Now of all times they couldn't be fighting among themselves. Ryuu curled up on the floor next to you and entered sleep mode, knowing they would be there for a while.

"I think you handled that very well." Koujaku said as he took a seat on the balcony next to you. "They all seem to respect you greatly."

"I hate what I just did but it had to be done." You told him.

"So who are you? (Y/n)'s boyfriend?" Meg spat at him and she possessively placed a hand on your shoulder.

"Meg I can't be dealing with your jealousy right now." You said with a small sigh.

"I'm not her boyfriend. Though after just witnessing that I think it would be a privilege to be able to say that I was." He said with a smile that made you blush slightly. God he was charming.

"Well don't think that I'm going to let you place your grubby man hands all over my innocent (y/n)." You rolled your eyes, did she really have to add innocent on there?

"I wouldn't dream of it." Koujaku said remained perfectly calm and cool as always. A gentlemen like he always was. Everyone was almost done with the cleaning now and were starting to leave the hide out already. Meg's coil began to ring and she answered it.

"Meg get your ass home right now." Shouted a voice from the other end of the line.

"Yeah alright Mom I'm coming." She replied her face slightly red when she saw both you and Koujaku listening in to her conversation.

"You better get here in the next ten minutes or so help me I'll..." Meg quickly hung up the phone before her Mother could say anything more to embarrass her.

"I'm sorry I have too..." She trailed off but you smile slightly and nodded at her.

"I understand. Thank you for all you're help today Meg. I'll see you tomorrow." She smiled.

"Okay." She glared at Koujaku. "Remember what I told you." Then she walked out of the hide out leaving Koujaku and you in the hide out alone. The thought suddenly hit you that you had never been alone in a room like this with him. You felt your heart rate speed up slightly and you were starting to get a little nervous. Why? Surely you didn't have a thing for him right? There was no way you would be so stupid as to have feelings for him, the man that had an army of women ready to throw down their lives for him but he never dated any of them? He was a heart breaker, you knew that so what was this feeling? You suddenly stood up and looked towards the bar, leaving the sleeping Ryuu were he was. That would take the edge off.

"Do you want a drink?" You asked him. He smiled at you and nodded.

"If you don't mind I would love one." You nodded and made your way down the stairs and headed towards the bar. You're eyes glanced back at Koujaku and you saw him stand up and begin to follow you down. You skillfully jumped over the bar counter and pulled out two shot glasses and set them on the bar. Koujaku took a seat at one of the stools on the opposite side of the bar and watched you skillfully pour alcohol into the tiny glasses. "There aren't many hide outs with bars like this in them." He stated.

"Yeah I know but I believe that it's important to develop the bonds between team mates and the easiest way to form a bond with someone is to have a drink with them. At least that's what I have come to believe." You finished pouring the drink and slid on over to Koujaku.

"Is that what we are doing now, bonding?" He asked with a slight smile. You laughed slightly and lifted up you shot glasses and the two of you clinked them together.

"We can be if you want." You said before downing the shot. Why were you feeling so nervous around this guy all of a sudden? Koujaku smiled and finished his and you began to pour the two of you more.

"So since as we're bonding, tell me a little more about yourself." He said cheerily. The dreaded question, you thought to yourself. What were you meant to tell him exactly?

"Not much to tell really." You lied.

"Okay maybe I should be more specific. Where did you learn to punch so hard you send a full man flying across the room?" He asked. You mentally sighed in relief, nothing too personal.

"My Father was the cause of that." You said trying to keep the hate from your voice. "He was...determined shall we say to make me a great fighter. He had me trained by the best of the best from a young age."

"Had you trained? He didn't do it himself?"

"Well I come from a well off family so no, he didn't."

"May I ask where he is now?"

"He's dead, so is Mother." You asked plainly. You downed the next shot, you hated this. Talking of your past you would rather just forget about it.

"I'm sorry to hear that. I lost my Mother too...when I was younger." You're eyes widened at the great sadness in his eyes. You knew saying you were sorry wasn't the best idea. Those words wouldn't help the pain.

"Want another refill?" You asked noticing his glass was empty. He nodded and you poured him some more. You did the same for yourself and downed it, slowly you were feeling yourself begin to relax. "So tell me, can you really use that big ass sword you always carry around?" You said lightening the mood. Koujaku smiled his usual self returning.

"I can indeed. What about you? I never seen you carrying any weapons around."

"Ah, you cannot let yourself be fooled. I have several daggers hidden on my person in case of emergencies. Plus I myself am skilled with a sword." You told him.

"Really?"

"Yes, I practised with duel swords though however I hung them up a long time ago and took up the art of chi blocking instead."

"I have heard of that. They say that it is a trick art to master."

"I think that the technique is simple however remembering all the different points on a body to hit is difficult and of course making sure that you are agile enough to be able to apply it in battle, agility had never been an issue for me though." Koujaku let out a small laugh.

"Oh I see, that good to know for future reference." He said winking at you. Wait, was he being dirty? No that wasn't like Koujaku.

"I think the alcohol might be effecting you more than I anticipated it would."

"No it takes more than that to get me drunk. I am simply stating the truth. I think that you're amazing (y/n) I really do." He smiled at you warmly making your face become slightly red. You averted your gaze and then you felt a hand gently begin to stroke your face. Your eyes met with Koujaku's and he gently began to play with a strand of your hair. You let him do so your face becoming redder by the second. "You have beautiful hair too. I've never seen hair so purple before. Hair like this should be cherished. I could do it for you if you wanted. I could be the one to take care of your beautiful hair, if you would let me of course." He said as he leaned forward. He brought the strand of hair closer to his face and inhaled deeply, taking in it's scent. His face was so close to yours that you could feel his body heat. Your face became as red as a tomato when you saw him looking into your eyes with a warm look on his face. You couldn't take this anymore, you couldn't do this. You quickly pulled away and turned away from him, hiding your blushing face.

"I-I-I think that maybe I should go home now." Koujaku stood up from the stool, his own face blushed after he realized what he had done.

"Yes I...think that would be best." He said with a nod of his head. "Goodnight (y/n), I see you at a later date."

"Yes goodnight Koujaku." You said not turning to face him. You heard him walk out of the hide out and you let our a deep sigh when the door closed. Little did you know though that you had just broken Koujaku's heart a little by rejecting him so easily...
