Chapter 6

You were drenched as you leaned against the wall of a shop trying to hide from the rain. You had been out in it for about two minutes and you were soaked to the bone. You weren't even that fair from the junk shop. You clung to the bundle in you arms that held a sleeping Ryuu in it. You were worried that your jacket wasn't thick even to protect him from the rain. You were under a small porch, safe from the rain at that moment. Maybe it would have been best to just go back into the shop and wait there with Aoba until the rain stopped.

"I'm sorry Ryuu." You whispered hugging your bundle tighter. This was your fault, if something happened to him because he got wet it would be your fault. Why were you in such a hurry to get home anyway? You haven't even thought about it, you had just stepped out into the rain. You began to shiver from the cold and you sneezed. "Great." You said sarcastically to yourself.

"(Y/n)-san?" You heard a voice say from behind you. You turned to see a familiar gas masked white haired boy stood in the rain with a translucent umbrella above his head.

"Clear, hi." You said. You hadn't seen this guy since you met all the guys at Dr Tae's house two days ago.

"You're soaking wet." He observed out loud.

"Yeah, I guess. I was heading home when it started raining." You confessed.

"If you want I'd be more than willing to share my umbrella with you." He said. You smiled at his kindness.

"You don't have to do that. I think I'll just stay here until the rain stops."

"But your wet. If you stay outside in the cold like that you'll get sick. Please allow me to share my umbrella with you. I don't mind." He said. You looked down at the bundle in your arms. It would mean that Ryuu would be safe from the rain and he was your main concern at that moment. You didn't mind getting wet but it would be awful if he got wet.

"Okay, if you'r sure that would be great." You said making up your mind. You ran to him and stepped under his umbrella. You could here the rain tapping against the top of the umbrella while you stood shoulder to shoulder with Clear. "Thank you for this."

"That's okay." The two of you then slowly began to move down the street. "Were you just visiting Master at his work place?" He asked.

"Master? Who's Master?" You asked him.

"Master is Master." Clear said like it was obvious.

"Are you talking about Aoba?"

"Yes, Master." Clear confirmed.

"Why do you call him that?"

"Because he's my Master." Wow, he's like a broken record you thought to yourself. It was clear that you weren't going to get anything more out of him so you decided to drop the subject.

"Well yeah I was. I needed a new chip for Ryuu." You said gesturing towards the bundle of clothes that you clung too.

"Ah you're dragon." He said as if he only just remembered who you were talking about. You nodded at him. After a moments silence you felt the need to ask a question that you weren't sure you would get an answer too.

"Clear why do you always wear that mask?" You asked him.

"Because Grandfather told me to wear it. He said I must never take it off but he's asleep now." He said. You looked at the floor.

"I'm sorry to hear that. He must have been really important to you for you to continue to do as he asked after he is gone."

"He was. He used to tell all about jellyfish."

"Jellyfish?" You questioned.

"Yes. He used to tell me that they dreamed when they were asleep. Do you like jellyfish (y/n)-san?"

"I've never really thought about but I guess I do. They are rather extraordinary creatures."

"I think so too. Grandfather even taught me a song about them." You smiled and then sneezed loudly. "(Y/n)-san are you sick?"

"No, no I'm fine I just need a warm shower when I get home that's all." You assured him. "I'm down here."  You told him looking down your street.

"If I may I'd still like to walk you to your door. It's still raining after all."

"Okay, thanks." You said not having the energy to argue. You weren't feel well, you head was feeling foggy and your nose was starting to run. The two of you began to make your way down the street and stopped at your door. You opened it and stepped inside, feeling thankful to be home. You turned to face Clear. "Thank you for your help." You said but Clear didn't move. He stayed completely still. "Do you...want to come in?" You asked him not sure what he wanted.

"Yes please." He said stepping into the house. You closed the door and looked around to find that Clear had already gone. You rushed into the kitchen to find him looking through your cupboards like an excited kid looking for sweets. You smiled not really minding, actually thinking that it was really cute. You placed Ryuu down on the table and carefully unwrapped him. He was curled up, asleep but completely dry.

"Oh thank goodness." You said and then you sneezed loudly.

"(Y/n)-san you need to go and lie down."

"Yeah I guess." You said knowing he was right.

"I'll make soup." He said happily.

"You don't have to do that."

"No it's okay. I'm good at doing chores, you just go and lie down." He said with a smile.

"Then...I guess I'll go for a shower." You told him. He nodded at you and then turned around and started pulling ingredients out of your cupboards, almost as if he had been cooking in your kitchen for years and it wasn't the first time he had been in it. You smiled and picked up Ryuu, leaving the wet jacket on the table and headed up the stairs. You placed Ryuu on the bed and jumped in the shower...

You don't know how long you were in there but you guess that it was quiet a while. When you got out you were feeling a lot better but still a little rough. You wrapped the towel around you and opened the bathroom door.

"(Y/n)-san!" Called a voice and your felt arms wrap around you neck. You were met with white hair in your face.

"Clear! What are you doing?" You said loudly. You pushed him away from you and grabbed your towel to make sure that it didn't fall off, your face slightly red.

"Well you were in there so long I thought something might have happened. I was really worried but when I tried to come in you had locked the door."

"W-why would you try to come in? Clear I'm naked!" You shouted at him feeling completely embarrassed. In truth you had completely forgotten that he was even in your house at all.

"That doesn't matter. I wouldn't do anything (y/n)-san wouldn't like." He said with an innocent voice. What was up with this guy? Although you were uncomfortable and nervous about the situation you couldn't help but believe him. There was something about his childish nature and innocent attitude that made you think of him as someone you could trust, but you were still weary. This guy was still a guy after all and his innocent exterior might be an act.

"Alright fine. Sorry for making you worry, now you stay out here while I get changed okay?" You said firmly.

"Okay, I'll bring up the soup that I made for you." He said nodding his head eagerly and then he rushed down the stairs. You sighed and entered your bedroom were you dried yourself and got into your pyjamas. Not long after you had finished dressing you heard a loud knock at your door. "(Y/n)-san, I brought your soup can I come in now?" Clear asked from outside the door. You looked over at Ryuu, if Clear was too loud he might wake up. He might be an AllMate but he still needed his sleep too. You opened the door.

"Yeah but just keep it down, Ryuu's asleep." You whispered as he came in with a bowl of warm tomato soup.

"Sorry." He apologised placing the soup down on your bed side table. You walked over and sat on the bed, looking over at Ryuu who was on the end of the bed still asleep. "You care about him a lot don't you?" Clear asked in a quiet tone. You looked over at him. That makes him the second person to mention your affection for Ryuu in one day.

"Yeah I do."

"So you love him even though he's a robot...without a heart, he's unable to love you back, right?"

"No I don't believe that. Just because he's a machine don't mean anything to me. He's my companion and I care for him. He's been by my side through the good days and the bad. Some might say that he's and AllMate and that's what he's meant to do but I don't think like that. If Ryuu wanted to leave he would have said something, he still has his own free will after all. That's the way AllMates were designed and just because he doesn't have a heart doesn't mean he's incapable of love."

"You really believe all that?" He asked you with a very interested tone.

"I do." You said with a smile as you picked up the bowl of soup Clear made you.

"Then I have learnt something today thanks to you. Even though we may not be human we can still feel like one." He said repeating what you said.

"We?" You questioned him. Clear shook his head quickly.

"I didn't mean 'we.'" He said defensively. You frowned at him and took a spoonful of soup and placed it in your mouth. You're eyes widened as flavours exploded on your tongue. It was good, really good and you hadn't expected it too be.

"This is amazing Clear." You told him.

"I'm glad you like it (y/n)-san." He said as he watched you finish the bowl of soup. "You should get some sleep now (y/n)-san." He told you taking the empty bowl from your lap. You climbed under the covers, letting the warmth of your bed surround you. Clear came and sat back down next to you then you remembered your pills.

"Clear can you pass me those please?" You asked pointing to the small jar of medicine Dr Tae had given you. Clear picked it up and gave it too you.

"What is it?"

"It's just medicine to help me sleep."

"You have trouble sleeping?"

"Yeah but these usually help."

"Usually? Don't they always help?"

"Not these ones but Dr Tae's working on some other medicine that is mean to work all the time. For now though she's given me these ones to take until their ready." You told him. Thankfully he didn't ask why you had trouble sleeping. You would have been pretty reluctant to answer that one.

"If you have trouble sleeping maybe I can help? That song Grandfather taught me that I told you about early, it helps Master get to sleep sometimes. Maybe it can help you?"

"You want to sing me to sleep?" You asked him.

"Yes, if I may of course." You felt your heart beat faster in your chest. The last person to sing you to sleep was your Mother. After she had told you storied of dragons she used to stroke your hair and sing you a lullaby. She hadn't left your side until you had fallen into a deep slumber. You smiled at the memory. It had been so long since then and you could hardly remember the feeling of being sung to sleep.

"That would be really nice Clear...thank you." You said as you snuggled down and closed your eyes. You waited for a short while and then Clear opened his mouth and began to sing his beautiful melody...
