Part - 20 : Coincidence

It was already eight o'clock at night. Everyone in the mansion was used to had dinner by 7 PM. So by now, almost all the staff had finished their work and gone to their rooms. Lucky also finished all her works quickly and came to her room. She checked all the doors and windows twice if it's lock perfectly or not. Virat had already spread the word throughout the mansion that Lucky saw the murderer of Rajshree. She knew well that those who were behind all this are still roaming free. May be they are still inside the mansion right under their nose. The thought of someone waiting for her with a knife, sword, or even a cannon made her too scared to go out. After all, what did she have for self-defense? A plate and a spoon? And all Thanks to Virat, she didn't even have a phone, lets not talk about to keeping a gun. At this moment, she was missing Neelam and Sweety badly. She wished she could contact them any how. Suddenly, she heard a knock on the door.

"Who is there? These people don't let me live in peace even at night." Lucky grumbled in frustration. "Go away! I am not opening it. My duty time is already over."

"Are you opening the door or not?" Hearing Rakesh's voice from outside, Lucky bit her tongue and quickly adjusted her clothes before opening the door.

"Sorry, sir. I wasn't expecting You at this hour. Is there any work left for me?" Lucky asked, pretending to yawn. Like she was tired too much.

"Come on, Your Highness has called you." Rakesh signaled her to follow him.

"But at this hour... why?" Lucky mumbled.

"He wants to talk to you. And he has an injury on his hand, so..."

"So? If you don't remember, let me remind you, I'm a chef. I understand only spices... not medicines."

"So?" Rakesh looked at her with creased brow.

"So its better to call a doctor and get him treated. Why should I go there?" Lucky replied nonchalantly.

"Are you coming on your own, or should I call Disco..." Rakesh looked at her with a crooked smile. He was clearly threatening her. The mention of Disco's name made Lucky's sleep vanish instantly.

"Why will you disturb Mr Disco for such a small matter? If you don't know, let me tell you. Disturbing innocent and poor animals at night is a serious sin. Their ancestors' spirits will haunt you if you do this regularly."

Rakesh handed her the first aid box.
"Follow me quickly If you are done making your fantasy stories." Lucky had no other choice so she reluctantly started followed him. She wondered what new command Virat had for her now. After few minutes they reached to his room. Rakesh signalled her to go inside and went away. Lucky looked at the closed door of his room like it's a cave of lion. She took a deep breath and knocked the door softly.

"Come in..." Virat's voice came from inside, and Lucky entered into the room.

"Your Highness, why did you call me at this late hour?"

"I wanted to discuss some matter with you." Virat replied.

"What matters?" Lucky looked at him totally confused.

"As I said before. I've spread rumors throughout the mansion that you know the man who orchestrated the attack at the party that evening. So... be careful. I've told the guards to stay around you, but you need to be alert yourself. If you see anything suspicious, just call me... understand?" Virat said with concern in his voice.

Lucky looked at Virat in surprise. 'This arrogant prince is worried about me? He was the one who is after my life since I step my foot inside this mansion. And now he is showing concern about my life? How did his heart has changed suddenly?'
Seeing her staring at him with wide eyes, Virat snapped his fingers in front of her face.

"Hey! Are you even listening? I am talking to you." he said in a slightly stern voice, and Lucky snapped out of her thoughts. Her gaze fell on Virat's hand. The bandage on his hand was completely drenched with his own blood.

Lucky immediately hold his big hand in and looked at the injury with concern,
"Your Highness, your wound is bleeding way too much. Dont worry I'll apply some medicine right away."

"There's no need. I'm perfectly fine. You may go now." Virat pulled his hand back carelessly.

"Dont be so careless. I can see So much blood is there. If it's not treated now, the wound will get worse. I have a first aid box. Please let me apply some medicine to you." Before Virat could say anything else, Lucky took his hand again and started removing the bandage. Seeing his blood-soaked hand, Lucky's face showed signs of pain.

"Just looking at this wound hurts me so much, and you're saying you're perfectly fine? I know applying medicine stings a bit, but that doesn't mean you should be afraid to apply it."

Virat glared at her, "You mean I'm afraid of pain that's why I don't want to apply medicine?"
And then lucky realised what she has said to this proud grumpy prince.
"I... I didn't mean that. I know you're very strong. These little wounds are just like a scratch for you." Lucky quickly corrected herself. 'That's the problem with these boys. Even if they're dying in pain inside, they think admitting it infront of others is an insult of them.' Lucky fumed inwardly. 'Anyway, the almighty gave me a good opportunity to get back at Virat Singh Tughlak for hitting me.'

"Alright... apply the medicine quickly. I have to do other works too." Virat replied in a slightly irritated voice. Lucky now looked at the medicines in the first aid box.

"These medicines won't hurt you at all. But it will take at least four to five days for your hand to heal. I have a tried and tested remedy from my grandmother. If I use that, your hand will be fine by tomorrow. But the problem is, it will hurt a little. Now you decide which medicine you want to apply." Lucky looked at Virat with an innocent face.

"Of course, use the medicine that works faster. I don't care about small injuries and pain." Virat replied nonchalantly.

'This is Lucky's remedy Mr virat singh tomar. Today you'll find out that men feel pain too, and it hurts a lot.' Lucky barely suppressed her laughter.

"Your Highness, just wait for two minutes. I'll bring the medicine." Lucky picked up a cushion from the nearby sofa and carefully placed Virat's hand on it so it wouldn't hurt much. Then she went out quickly out of the room. When she returned, she had a tray with some items on it.

"Your Highness... it will hurt a little, but trust me, your hand will be perfectly fine by tomorrow."

"Okay, do it quickly. I have a lot of work to do." Virat replied a bit curtly.

"Okay... your command is my wish." Lucky held Virat's hand with one hand and applied some liquid from a bowl to his wound. Virat didn't feel anything. He found it amusing that Lucky had warned him so much about this medicine. Lucky then took something like powder from another bowl and applied it to Virat's hand, and this time, Virat winced in pain. He immediately back off his hand and burst out of anger, "What did you put on my hand? It burns like you put chili or salt on it."

"Your Majesty, I warned you that it would sting a little." Lucky was trying hard to suppress her laughter. This was the first time she get the opportunity to take advantage on virat and she didn't want to miss this.

"You called This a little sting?" Virat said with clenched teeths.

"Don't worry... this is a tried and tested remedy. When I was a child Whenever I got a cut or scrape my grandmother always apply a paste of mustard oil and turmeric on my wound. And By the next day, my wound gets disappear as if it was never there. You'll see, your hand will be perfectly fine. Let me blow on it. it will reduce the burning." Seeing Virat seething in pain, Lucky's heart finally melted, and she started blowing on his wound while gently applying the turmeric and oil paste. Virat was speechless seeing her actions.

In his childhood while playing with Rajshree at her house, Virat always tried to cook with her mom or chef sanjeev. One day when he was trying to cook in elders absence he ended up cutting his hand while chopping vegetables. At that time, Rajshree had applied the same turmeric and oil paste to his wound. The way Lucky was applying it and blew on his hand made Virat remember Rajshree. He didn't even realise when he started imagine his lost Rajshree in her. Lost in past memories, Virat didn't realize when a smile appeared on his lips while looking at Lucky.

"It's fine now. You won't feel any pain." Finally, after bandaging his hand, Lucky sighed in relief and looked at Virat. But Virat didn't respond. He was still smiling and staring at her. Seeing this, Lucky snapped her fingers in front of his face.

"Hello... Your Highness... are you okay?"

Virat immediately pulled his hand back in embarrassment. He was surprised at himself for imagining such foolish things. Rajshree was a girl, and the person sitting in front of him was a well-built young man. How could he see Rajshree's reflection in him?

"What... what were you doing? Sometimes your actions seem just like a girl." To hide his embarrassment, Virat looked away and showed a false anger.

Lucky was shocked to hear this. Was she acting like a girl? Even when she was in a girl's getup, no one had ever said that her actions were like a girl's. And now, even in a boy's getup, Virat thought her actions were like a girl's? If this continued, her truth would be revealed soon.

"Your Highness, this is also part of the remedy. The better you blow, the faster the wound heals. That was the reason of doing that. If you feel anything wrong than I am sorry." Lucky gave a nonsensical logic to save her face.

"Shut up! Never do such things in front of me again... do you understand? Now get out from here." Virat said showing his irritation. He was again trying to focus back on his file.

"Okay, than I will take my leave... good night." Lucky picked up the tray and left the room. As soon as she left, Virat sighed in relief. He couldn't understand why seeing Lucky reminded him of Rajshree today. Is there any possibility that Lucky and Rajshree are siblings? The thought crossed Virat's mind for a moment, but then he quickly dismissed it. Rajshree was the only daughter of Chef Sanjeev Vohra. In the end, Virat convinced himself that whatever similarities he saw between Lucky and Rajshree were just a coincidence.

To be continued...
