Chapter 4~a new life...again?

A/N

Hey I left you on a cliffhanger sorry ma petit amis! sorry!

  Jack: no she's not...

me: shut up Harkness

" Jack! Pass me that mirror!" If I could just pull this off...

My hand grasped the thin square mirror.  "do you have duct tape or something?"

"Do I?" he calls back. Reaching into one of the many pockets on his coat, he pulls out a rather large roll of the silvery stuff. one that couldn't have fit in a pocket.

"how did you... never mind. Just toss it here." holding the mirror up to the angels face, I used the duct tape, wrapping it around the statue's head. To bad that there weren't anymore of the hand-sized mirrors

Honestly right now if I were with a normal family, I would be watching Soul Eater or Sherlock or Hetalia, but no I'm fighting for my life. well this is your life now, Terri. I chided myself. sigh.

"Run!" Jack yelled and I sprinted for the door. We got down the hall, only to meet four angels in the hall.

"Other way!" We were sprinting toward the other end, and I was thinking that I was going to trip on the laces of my red Converse when we ran into three more angels. Okay, time for plan B.

Plan B and been running through my mind for about five minutes, since I'd been trapped by the angel. There's a space-time rift under Cardiff, right? Well... if it can drag things like wevills in here, then can't it bring the angels out? It's an interesting theory but how could I activate the rift? And was the rift still active this far out of Cardiff?  Maybe an energy spike... making one?

I cussed as what I had to do dawned on me. "aww, but I just got this phone." I whined I rustled through my pocket. Finding my phone I did a power check. 76% "Fuck!"

" what?! And language, Terri!"

" you're never one to care about that" I muttered, looking for a solution. I could try it with 76%, but it would be better and more likely to succeed if I had 80%. Aw well. That's my life for you. I started fiddling with the phone. I took inventory again. Friendship bracelet string (don't ask) a hair band, a phone number, a bandana,( no, not a banana, although I could use one right now) the wierd watch, and a paper clip.  A screwdriver? That would maybe helpful. "Oi, Harkness!  You got a screwdriver in those magical pockets for me? "

"Nope. Sorry!"

I groaned, and pulled out the paper clip. This really would be a rough cut project, now wouldn't it? I then turned to find the electrical system of the building. Old building, so it'd probably be in the walls. "cover me!" Jack looked in confusion, but then snapped his head back to the angels, who had advanced again. I braced one foot on the floor, my two hands on the wall, and kicked.

Once the dust cleared, I took a look in the wall. Just as I'd guessed, there was a little metal box in the wall. I undid several wires, which had probably had been for the lights in the '30's. A blue one wire was in there, covered by red and yellow wires.I used the paper clip to open the back of my phone, where I plugged in the blue  wire. Next I struck the battery with the yellow wire. Then, a bright blinding whiteness lit up the room.

Three broken dead statues were grabbing at us. Dust, stone dust, floated in the air. the remains of an angel. I blinked some of the stone dust out of my eyes.

Immediately, a grey, hard hand was pointing at my nose, as if it was 'booping' me. "okay, not dead." I backed up, my hand against the wall.  Plan C-okay, If I had a plan C.

" Jack, these things are only stone when we aren't looking, right?"

"Yeah I think that's how they work, so we have to look at them!" He said, his hand on his pistol.

Plan C formed instantly in my head-shoot the angels while we were not looking. I really don't know if this will work...

"Pass me a gun!"

Jack obliged without question, which was rather unlike him, but I tried to igrore that. "Alright, on the count of three, close your eyes and fire!" He nodded, understanding what I thought might happen. I had watched enough Supernatural to know how to fire a gun.

" one...two.. THREE!" I squeezed my eyes shut and fired again and again. Boom! Boom! Boom! the echo ran through my bones, rattling me.

When I looked up, I saw that dust was floating in the still air, and I was looking at just bits of the stone statues. " Think we got them?" Jack asked.

"I suppose" I muttered. Just then, a loud bang of the door being opened shock the entire building. "now what" I questioned the universe and the void. The void... the void... fun name for hell, but where did my little brain come up with that?

"Jack!" Ianto's voice hollered down the dingy halls.

"We're right here Ianto. We're fine. We need to get the police to clear this place out. make it off-limits."  we got out of the creepy hotel and Ianto joined us at the door.

The SUV was right where it had been. It looked like the same old world. " How do you do this?" I asked." The world is so different now. It's as if everything is too normal-like something's just plain off."

Jack and Ianto both laughed "You'll get used to it" Jack said.

"There are things here that make life...   interesting" Ianto completed

" Aww come on" Jack said. Were they..flirting? Then, he leaned toward Ianto and kissed him. I was in aw of the moment. I probably looked like an idiot, just standing there. Jack and Ianto were just breaking apart when something cold and hard touched the back of my neck. "Terri!" I heard Jack shout as the angel behind me became visible, and I was ripped from time.

I was on a roller coaster, bouncing and turning, going forward and backward and speeding at a million kilometers an hour all at once. It was burning and black and white and everything and nothing at the same moment. I was being pulled apart and stitched back together all with one slice. I squinted my eyes open, only to be surrounded by color and an ever changing space, but it was shaped like a tube. The lack of air terrified me, so there was no air rushing against my face to bite it, just a dull falling in the pit of my stomach.

Then it all stopped, all the falling and confusion stopped. I hit hard ground. solid ground. I hugged the fresh green grass to my chest and shakily stood up.  "excuse me lass" a man in a button up shirt and suspender's called " Whatcha doing in me garden? Now get out!" I ran for all I was worth. When I finally stopped running, I found myself in a park with benches. a newspaper was strewn on a bench near me. I sat down and began to read.

Thursday September 11 1884, Yorkshire

"1884!" I shouted out loud. well, at least I was in the U.K.  I had to find some sort of work here. First coarse of action. I thought back to my 6th grade class on Victorian England. "Okay any adverts in the paper?" I muttered under my breath. After nearly a half hour of search through the paper, I found what I wanted.

Young maid wanted: must be more than eleven years old. hours are seven am to one pm. pay: room and board. reply by September 16 to Ms. smority  at 12 Saul estate Yorkshire England

This was really all that I needed. So I sent a letter that day to Ms. Smority within the hour.

Dear Ms. Smority,

I have noticed your advert in the paper and wish to put myself at your service.  I have experience with young children. This is due to my little brothers which I have had to care for. I am hopeful that, although I cannot make an interview, you shall except me.

Thank you, Terri Jones

Then I found myself a very cheap inn that I could afford with the 20 pounds in my pocket. 3 pounds a night probably meant that it wouldn't be very nice, but It would put a roof over my head.

******************************************************************************************************************* A few days later,  I received a small letter in the mail

Dear Ms. Jones

As you are the only respondent and we are growing weary, we shall employ you. you shall be the morning maid to our youngest child, at the mear age of four, Sofia. enclosed is the fair for a train to our estate, on platform 4.

Sincerely, Ms. Elizabeth Smority

Thus I left the awful inn I was staying at and went to take a train up to the estate. It was a long and boring ride, but I made it without mentioning the new Sherlock episode to anyone. When I arrived at the mansion, Ms. Smority got a girl a few years older than me to fit me in a 'proper Uniform'. I herd a few comments on my 'strange glasses' and 'Atrocious outfit'.( mind you I was in my converse and zippered jacket, not quite normal for 1884.) I kept my converse and graphic t-shirt in my quarters, but now I was in a full length maids dress.

Before I left to figure out my first day on the job, which would be tomorrow, I felt something heavy drop into my pocket. I looked down to see that I had put the fob watch into the pocket on the black and white dress. I might as well keep it. So this was my new life now. Just two months ago, I had been worried about school and my friends. Now I was facing a life of being a servant. Time flies, doesn't it?

A/N
