The Third Horcrux

Crreeeeeaaaakkkk.

I groaned. What was that noise? Oh no.

"Crap, crap, crap, crap. Wait! Harry! Ron! Wait!"

"Rose? What are you doing?"

"Follow that Patronus!"

"That's what we were doing anyways."

The solver doe was a few feet ahead of us, egging us on. The Patronus of Severus Snape.

"Is that your patronus?" Ron asked me

"Mine is a fox." I replied, shaking my head.

"Who's Patronus is it then?"

"It's Snape's." i explained "Don't ask, you'll find out soon. And no, it's not a trap."

"Where's it taking us?" Harry asked me

"To the Sword of Godrick Gryffindor."

"What?!"

"We'll destroy the Horcrux tonight. Or, Ron will."

"Me?!"

"Yes, you."

"Why do i have to do it?!"

"Because."

"Because why-"

"Look! Down there!"

"No! Don't. I'll do it." I muttered a spell to keep me from getting wet before walking over to the ice.

"Diffindo..."

The ice cracked and dissapeared. The sword glinted at the bottom of the lake, and a few fish swam by.

"Here i go..."

I dove in and almost sighed in releif when i felt completly dry, but i didn't breathe. Instead, i swam to the bottom and grabbed the sword by the hilt, and ripped it off the floor.

I was running out of air fast, so i swam to the top where i had broken the ice. Only there was no hole there.

I started pounding on the ice where i was, trying to break it.

"Get her out!"

"It won't break!"

The voices were low from where i was, because they were above the ice.

"Why won't it break?"

"There has to be a spell on it! Finite Incantatum!"

"It didn't work! It must be dark magic."

"We can't let her drown!"

"Dis-"

I blacked out before i could hear the rest of the converstaion.

************************************************************************************************

"I think she's waking up."

"She's still freezing."

"I know."

"God..." I shivered, opening my eyes

"Rose? Are you okay? Does anything hurt?" Hermione rushed

"I'm freezing. What happened- The Sword! Where is it?"

"It's fine. The Horcrux is destroyed, Ron did it." Harry explained, glancing at Ron with a knowing look.

"That's three down. I've been thinking... We should go see the Lovegoods." Hermione suggested

"No. I know you trust the man, but he sells you out to the Death Eaters."

"Well, bugger. Where do we go then?" Harry asked

"We sneak into Grigotts." I shrugged casually

"Break into Gringotts? Your mental." Ron breathed

"I know. Hey! What about that radio show?"

"Yeah! I almost forgot."

Ron leant over and grabbed the little radio and pulled put his wand, muttering something and tapping it.

"Uhh....do you guys know the password?" He asked

"It's Albus."

"Oh. Albus!" He tapped the radio and a couple of familliar voices came on.

"...Apoligize for our temporary absence in airwaves, which was caused by a number of charming house calls in the air by those charming Deat Eaters."

"But that's Lee Jordan!" Hermione said

"I know! Cool, right?" Ron asked

"But we have now found ourselves another secure location." Lee said "and i'm pleased to tell you that two of our regular contributors have joined me this evening. Evening, Boys!"

"Hi."

"Evening, River."

"River is Lee, they all have code names. You can usually tell-"

"Shush!"

"But before we hear from Royal and Romulus," Lee continued "let's take a moment to report those deaths that the Wizarding Wireless Network News and the Daily Prophet don't think important enough to mention. It's of great displeasure to us all that we inform you of the murders of Ted Tonks and Dirk Crisswell."

I felt sick, but i knew i couldn't have done anything to stop it. The trio turned and gazed at me in horror.

"A Gobling by the name of Gornuk was also killed. It is beleived that Muggle-Born Dean Thomas was traveling with the others, so if anybody has any information, or if Dean is listening, your family is desperate for news.

"Meanwhile, in Gaddley, a muggle family of five has been found dead in their home. Muggle athourites say it was a gas leak, but the Order of the Pheonis imform me it was the Killing Curse- more evidence, as if it were needed, of the fact that muggle slaughter is becoming more frequent, and little more of a recreational sport.

"Finally, we regret to inform you that the remains of Bathilda Bagshot were found in Godrick's Hollow. The evidence says she died several months ago. The Order of the Pheonix says the body shows harm only inflicted by Dark Magic.

"I'd like to invite you all for a moment of silence for those who have been lost."

There was at least a mineute of silence, even nature was still and silent.

"Thank you." Lee said "And now we turn to regular contributer Royal on how the new Wizarding order is affecting the muggle world."

"Thank's River." Kingsley said

"Muggles remain ignorant of the source oftheir suffering as they continue to sustain heavy casculades." Kingsley reported "However, we continue yo hear truly inspirational stories of Witches and Wizards risking their own safety to protect muggle friends and neighbors, often without the muggle's knowledge. I'd like to appeal to all of our listeners to emulate their example, perhaps by casting a protective charm over any muggle dwelings on your street. Many lives could be save is such simple measures are taken."

"And what would you say, Royal, to thise Wizards that in this dangerous times say, 'Wizards First'?" Asked Lee

"I'd say it was one short step from 'Wizards First' to 'Purebloods First', and then to 'Death Eaters'," replied Kingsley "We're all human, aren't we? As a very wise girl by the name of Rose Potter once said to me, 'Every life is worth the same, and worth saving.'"

"Excellently put! And you have my votes for Minister if you ever apply and get out of this mess. And now over to Romulus or out popular feature, 'Pals of Potter.'"

"Thank's River," my godfather, Remus J. Lupin spoke

"We know it's Lupin!" Hermione shushed Ron again

"Romulus, do you maintain, as you have every time you've appeared on our program, that Rose and Harry Potter, are in fact, still alive?"

"I do." Remus said firmly "There is no doubt in my mind that their deaths would be proclaimed as widely as possible by the Death Eaters if it had happened, because it would strike a deadly blow at the morale of those resisting the new regime. As they say now, 'The-Boy-Who-Lived and The-Girl-Who-Lived', remain a very strong symbol of evrything for wich we are fighting for: The triumph of good, the power of innocence, the need to keep resisting, and the power of love."

I felt grateful towards Remus. I missed everyone so much.

"And what would you say to Harry and Rose if they were listening, Romulus?"

"I'd tell them we're all with them in spirit," Remus said, "And i'd tell them to follow your instincts, which are good and nearly always right."

"...And our usual update on those friends of the Potter's who are suffering for their allegiance?" Lee was saying

"As our regular listeners will know, several of the more outkeen supporters have been imprisioned." Said Remus

"We've also heard in the past fee hour that Rubeus Hagrid"- the trio gasped "well known gamekeeper at Hogwarts School, narrowly escapsed arrest withing the grounds of Hogwarts, where he was rumored to have hosted a 'Support the Potter's' party in his house. However, Hagrid was not taken into custody, and is said to be on the run."

"Guess it helps when you have a sixteen foot high half-brother on your side." Lee said

"It woul tend to give you an edge," Remus said gravely "May we add here at PotterWatch, we applaud Hagrid's spirit, but don't go hosting any parties like that."

"Indeed, Romulus." Lee said "so we suggest you show your devotion by continuing to listen to PotterWatch! And now we switch to some new correspondent's: Rodent!"

"Rodent?" Another familliar voice said

"Fred!" The trio cried out

"No- is it George?"

"It's Fred, i think." Ron argued

"No. It is George. Listen." I said

The two on the radio proceeded to have a long argument about Rodent and Rapier.

"Why yes, River, i can." George said after they quit arguing "As our listeners will know, unless you live in a garden pond, You-Know-Who's game of hide and seek is creating a nice climate of panic. Mind you, if the alleged sightings of him are genuine, we must have a good ninteen You-Know-Who's running around."

"Wich suits him." Kingsley said

"Agreed." Said Fred "So, people, let' try and calm down a but. Things are bad enough whithout inventing stuf as well. For instance, the idea that he can kill people from a single glance with his eyes: i mean, people, that's a Basilisk! One simple test: Check if the thing staring at you has got legs. If it has, it's safe to look at. Although, if it really is You-Know-Who, it's still probably the last thing you'll ever do. I wouldn't wish that as my last sight on anybody."

We all laughed for the first time in weeks! I missed the twins alot.

"And the rumors that he keeps getting sighted abroad?" Asked Lee

"Well, who wouldn't want a nice little holiday from the nice little work he's been on?" Asked Fred "Point is, people, don't get lured into a false sense of security, thinking he's out of the country. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't, but the fact remains that he can move faster that Severus Snape cofronted with Shampoo if he want's to, don't count on him being a long way away if your counting on taking any risks! I'd never thought i'd hear myself say it, but Safety First people!"

Lee laughed along with the others "And one last program before we go. Piro, if you will?"

What?

"This is new." Ron whispered

"Thank you, River."

"Seamus!" I bursted, hearing the familliar irish accent.

"Someone's excited."

"Yeah!" I said

"This is a new program, so don't get any ideas." Seamus was saying "While we have the band of people following Harry, not many people know about Rose Potter like they should."

"Wow. Someone speaks highly of you, Rose."

"Shut up." I whispered, blushing.

"Do you have a backstory, Piro?" Lee asked

"Of course, lad. Here we go. Rose Potter is the famous Harry Potter's cousin. Now, i have seldom met any girl as brave as she is. Hopefully the secret will be revelaed soon, but it's not my place to tell." Seamus went on

"Well, you speak highly of her, don't you?"

"Hush, River."

"Ow!"

"Anyways, i've seen her in action. Don't mess with her. She's risked her life so many times, for me, and for her fellow students and family."

"Well put." Remus interveined

"Now to get to the point." Seamus said seirously "Rosebuds, as i've heard were her seldom followers, tune in. We need you to help her as much as you can, she's as important as Harry. And i mean it. There's not any rubbish imbetween there, it's the truth."

"Is it true, Piro, that she's been sighted? Or is this more rumor rubbish?" Lee asked

"It's all rubbish. She's smart. She knows what to do." Seamus said "So, Rose, if your listening, i wan't you to know, that your friends are here for you, but we're your family. There is one rumor, saying she's a Death Eater working for You-Know-Who undercover. Do us a favor and bugger off. That is not true."

"I told him that in fourth year..." I muttered "Your family isn't just who your born to, it's who you love. I can't believe he remembered..."

"Is there anymore news on Rose? The ministry is even anxious about her." Kingsley said

"Well, i can see why. Cleared Black's name, saved countless lives in the past. We're all curoius." Fred said

"In due time, as Rose said." Seamus told them. "There is more news on Rose."

"What? When?" Lee said. I could hear a faint shuffling, probably of papers.

"Indeed, River, i have it right here." Seamus said "Mystery person reported not half an hour ago to me. Says she's going to be betrayed by someone close. If you have anymore information, report to us so we can inform her is she's listening. Thank you, Rosebuds."

"Thank you all very much or those words tonight." Said Lee "Listeners, that brings us to the end of another PotterWatch. We don't know when it'll be possible for us to broadcast again, but you can be sure we'll be back. Keep twiddling those dials: The next password will be 'Mad-Eye.' Keep eachother safe, Keep faith. Good night."

The radio went off, and grew silent. I sat there, staring at it, dumbfounded by Seamus's words. I didn't know he thought so highly of me... Slowly, the trio turned their heads simeultaniously towards me, and stared.

"What?" I asked,"Is there something on my face?"

"A bit of drool." Harry said, pointing to a spot on his mouth

"Oh god." I muttered, wiping my mouth.

"Sound's like you have an bit of an admirer, Rose." Hermione smirked at me

"Hush. Seamus is...cool." I muttered

"Just cool? We are so talking later." Hermione still smirked

"That smirk could rival Malfoy's, Hermione." Ron said

"Good." She said.

I thought back to the 'Rosebuds'. I can't believe Seamus remembered that from fourth year. Did he mean what he said? Was it true? I miss Seamus, Neville, Ginny. All of those people. I can't get my mind off of that though.

"Rose."

"Yeah?"

"Your drooling again." Harry laughed

"Hippogriff snot." I cursed, getting up and wiping my face off.

************************************************************************************************

Some hours later, and one more wiping of the face...

"Come on. Help me pack up. We're going visiting." I said

"Who could we visit?"

"Bill and Fleur Weasley."

"Why Bill and Fleur?"

"We have buisness there."

"Alright..."

Two and a half hours later, we stood in a circle, our things packed, and ready to leave. All enchantments were gone as well.

"Ready?"

"Ready."

We all connected our arms and a pull in my stomach was felt. I was used to apperating by now, so i didn't feel like i was going to get sick.

"Is this it?"

"Yeah. It's over the hill." Ron confirmed "it used to be our aunt's house."

"Aunt Tessie?" Harry asked

"Maybe..."

Now to speak to Griphook.
