Epilogue
A short-lived reunion but worth it as Willow says goodbye to her adoptive cousin and her best friend.
***
"Last night I had a dream."
"Rose..." Willow's voice whispered.
"I heard a voice and it was calling my name."
Rose was asleep in her bed, restless as she heard her cousin's voice over and over in her head. "Rose... Rose..." She slowly opened her eyes confused. "Rose..."
Suddenly, she realised the voice was coming from her head. Rose abruptly sat up, stunned and confused about what she had just heard.
***
Later, she was downstairs in their living room, talking to her mum, her adoptive dad, her adoptive sister and Mickey. "I had a dream..." She began.
"I told Mum and Dad and Mickey. Anyone else would think I was mad. But not those three. They believed it because they've met the Doctor. So they listened to the dream."
"She was calling me, and..." explained Rose.
***
"And that night, we packed up, got into dad's old Jeep and off we went. Just like the dream said. Followed the voice across the water. Kept on driving hundreds and hundreds of miles, because she's calling."
"Rose..."
***
The next thing she knew, they were on a beach in Norway. Rose was strolling across it alone, feeling Willow's close presence.
"Here I am at last. And this is the story of how I died..."
She stood watching the sea and feeling the wind blowing through her hair until a few feet away from her, a figure faded into reality. Rose turned her head, observing as her cousin appeared in front of her very eyes. While she knew that Willow wasn't really here, Rose still smirked. She returned the smile with sad eyes.
Her feet guided her along the sand towards her ghostly image. "Where are you?"
"Inside the TARDIS." She mentioned.
***
Willow stood by the console, gazing at her cousin on the beach. Nearby was the Doctor, stabilising the connection. He knew that the girls had a special connection and didn't want to interrupt their final goodbye. "There's one tiny little gap in the Universe left, just about to close, and the Doctor says that it takes a lot of power to send this projection. We're in orbit around a supernova. He's burning up a sun just so I can say goodbye."
"You look like a ghost." She noted.
"Hold on." The Doctor spoke from behind, she turned her head to see him improving the connection.
***
The image of Willow was solidified as she faced Rose once again. She edged closer, raising her hand. "Can I?"
"I'm still just an image. No touch." She told her.
"Can't you come through properly?" requested Rose.
"The whole thing would fracture. Two universes would collapse." Willow informed.
"So? Since when did two universes ever stop you, Willow."
The girls giggled, sharing a moment of happiness for a moment. "Where are we? Where did the gap come out?"
She gazed around. "We're in Norway."
"Norway?" She said in disbelief. "Seriously?"
"About fifty miles out of Burgen. It's called 'Darlig Ulv Stranden'."
"Dalek?" Willow misheard.
"Darlig." Rose corrected her. "It's Norwegian for bad. This translates as Bad Wolf Bay."
She simpered, cracking a joke. "Oh, it's meant for me!"
They laughed again before the short-lived sunshine died out. "How long have we got?"
"He said we've got about two minutes."
The tears came back, Rose's eyes watering as she awkwardly chuckled. "I can't think of what to say!"
"Neither can I." Willow's eyes glanced behind her, recognising that Jackie, Pete, Indigo and Mickey were all standing by their jeep, silently watching. "You've still got Mickey, then?"
"There's six of us now. Mum, Dad, Indy, Mickey... and the baby." She mentioned.
Her eyes widened in disbelief. "You're not?"
She shook her head. "No. It's mum. She's three months gone. More Tylers on the way."
"I'm going to have loads of cousins aren't I?" Rose nodded, confirming it. "And what about you? Are you...?"
"Yeah, I'm back working in the shop." commented Rose.
"Do me a favour and blow it up will you?" She quipped questionably.
She continued. "I mean, there's still a Torchwood on this planet. It's open for business. I think I know a thing or two about aliens."
"Rose Tyler, Defender of the Earth." Willow grinned, crafting a title for her. Their conversation grew silent. "You're dead, officially, back home. I mean, so did I. So many people died that day and we've gone missing. We're on a list of the dead. Here you are, living a life day after day. The one adventure I can never have. Meanwhile, I'm in the TARDIS with the Doctor, travelling forever... and without you..."
Rose began to sob again, tearfully speaking through her tears. "Am I ever going to see you again?"
"No." She stated, shedding a few tears of her own. "I really wish we could but I can't."
"What're you going to do?"
"Oh, we've got the TARDIS. Same old life, last of the Time Lords." noted Willow, getting used to the title.
"Just the two of you?" Willow bobbed her head in response. It reminded her of how it was when she lived with her father, he was gone too. The only person she has left is the Doctor. "You know, I've always been kind of envious of you since I was a kid. You say you were lonely but you were given so much attention and I..."
"I know." She asserted. "You know what, I'm jealous of you at points."
"Why?"
"Because you're amazing and you get a human life, a family... everything I can never have..." Her saliva clogged up in her throat from all of the emotion. "But hey, you don't need to be like that anymore. You don't need me now. You're growing up and it's time for me to go."
"Don't say that... I can't live without you being here..." Rose held a hand over her face, trying to stop the sobs but they were uncontrollable. "You've always mean more of a big sister to me. I..." She couldn't get the words out as if they were stuck in her throat. "I... I love you..."
"Quite right, too." Willow acknowledged, smiling. "And I suppose, if it's one last chance to say it, Rose Tyler-"
However, before she could give Rose her final words, her image disappeared and Rose was left standing in the middle of a Norweigan beach, on her own. All the emotions started to flood out again, all those years of growing up together were now like a distant memory. It was like she was never there.
***
A single tear ran down her face as the image of Rose and the beach faded from her eyes. Willow turned to the Doctor, taking a breath. "She's gone."
He wrapped his arms around her, comforting her as she cried. Once again, it was just the Doctor and Willow in the TARDIS, but a piece of them had been taking into an entirely different universe.
***
Rose turned around, now a complete mess as her mother sprinted over to join her. She too had tears in her eyes, Willow was her niece for so many years. They both loved her.
***
After Willow recovered, she wiped the tears away whilst still being held by the Doctor. "What do we do now?" She asked, murmuring.
"We move on, but we never forget." The Doctor pressed a button and set the controls before curiously glimpsing up to see a woman dressed in white nearby. He tapped Willow's shoulder, alerting her to the stranger. "What?"
The woman turned around, gasping. Her hair was a deep red and her eyes a blue-greyish colour. "What?" Willow asked, just as confused.
"Who are you?" She queried.
"But-"
"Where am I?" The woman questioned.
"What?"
She raised her voice. "What the hell is this place?!"
The two glared at her, bewildered on how this woman had managed to get inside the TARDIS. "What?"
