We got out of the pool and it was night. I took Ivy upstairs so she could get ready for bed. I go back to mine and change.

I look back up to see Freddy standing there smirking.
S- What?
F- Oh nothing
S- You say that a lot and it's usually something
F- Since when?
S- Earlier today. You said you did nothing but you punched jocks.
F- Good point. It's just that you sound so familiar.
S- Oh
He comes and sits beside me.
F- Summer can I ask you a question?
He said my full name. That means it's serious because he usually always calls me Sum.
S- Sure
F- Why did you change? You know from your goody two shoes side. The girl who was always perfect.
S- You think I'm perfect?
F- Well yea. You're a straight a student. You're rich, beautiful, smart,president of student council, and pretty much a boy magnet.
My jaw drops and my eyes widen. What did he just say? I stand up.
S- HUH? WHAT DO YOU MEAN BOY MAGNET?
F- Well practically every boy except Me,Zack,and Lawrence have either a crush on you or Kale but mostly you.
I still just stand there in shock. DID EVERYONE KNOW THIS EXCEPT ME? Plus did Freddy call me beautiful earlier. I'm missing the point.
S- Did everyone know this?
F- What would you do if I said yes?
S- Maybe kill you and the rest of them.
F- Then no.
S- FREDDY
F- Ok yes. But please don't give me the Summer death stare.
I grab his arm and drag him.
F- Where are we going?
S- Tomika's house.
F- But it's 12am
S- Don't care.
He groans. I drag him out the door and to Tomika's house which was across the street. I knock on it. Tomika answers.
T- Hey what do you need?
S- Let's go brownie.
T- What?
I grab her wrist.
T- What's going on?
S- Group meeting.
T- At 12am
S- Yep
We walk to Lawrence's house. His mom answers.
LM- Oh hi guys. What do you need?
S- Can Lawrence come?
LM- Sure.
Lawrence comes downstairs in a stitch onesie.

He walks out and last but not least Zachary. Are meeting place is usually at a diner but it's too late now. We go to Zack's Backyard.

I roll my eyes at him and then drag them all to the front. He comes out.

S- Tomika you of all people. I would expect that from the boys but you.

S- Well guess how that turned out.
I just walk away back to my house. I'll go back to Freddy's in a minute. I just need to take everything in. Why do people think I'm perfect? Heck I think I'm a mess. My parents practically force me to get straight A's. I walk up to my room. I go to my private bathroom. They think I'm perfect. More like a mess. Should I really do this? My mind says yes but my heart says no. Well people say you should trust your head instead of your heart. Or is that just what my parents said. Eh who cares? I die my hair with blue ombre. The hair dye isn't permeant. Well for 2 months. I don't regret a thing.

Yep don't regret it. I put my sweatshirt on with the hood over it. I walk over to Freddy's house and once I go inside they were all there. They all look at me.

T- I'm sorry

T- Ok what's gotten into you and why do you have a sweatshirt on.
S- A lot of things and I'm wearing a sweatshirt because I'm cold.
T- Summer what'd you do?
S- Nothing
T- I know when you are lying.
S- Well stop trying to pry.
She walks over to me.
T- You didn't?
S- What?
She takes off the hood and they all gasp.
T- WHAT DID YOU DO TO YOUR HAIR?
S- What does it look like?
T- Summer stop this isn't you.
S- Do you even know me? I'm not perfect. I thought you guys of all people would know who I am but I was wrong.
T- We do know you.
S- Do you know why I am always stressed out? Do you know that most of the time I fake my happiness? Do you know why my parents are never home? Do you know that I am misunderstood? Heck Freddy didn't even know I had a huge crush on him. So what makes you think that you know me?
They all just stand there in shock.
S- Exactly.
I run up the stairs to check on Ivy. She was awake but I expected that. We were yelling.
I- Summy what did you do to your hair?
S- I changed it. Can I tell you something Ivy?
I- Anything.
S- My parents are never home.
I- I knew that Summy.
S- But do you know why?
I- No. You always said because of work.
S- Well it's because they are off running the country.

I- You don't mean?
S- Yea I do. My dad is the president. They force me to get good grades so maybe one day I can be there too. Yet it's stressful. I'm depressed sometimes. Sometimes I don't know what's wrong with me. But I don't really have anyone.
I- You have me Summy.
S- I'm glad I do. You know I love you Ivy?
I- Yes.
S- I'm glad I have you as a little sister.
I- I'm glad I have you as a big sister.
We hug and I say good night and then go to my room. Wait isn't tomorrow Saturday? Ugh great. I don't dislike weekends. It's just that it's the first one where I'm not at my own house. My thoughts have me fall asleep.
*Morning*
I wake up to someone shaking me. I assumed it was Freddy and just roll over.
I- Summy get up. Tomika wants you.
S- Why?
I- I don't know but she's coming in an hour.
S- How do you know?
I- Cause Freddy told me and you might wanna get dressed fast. He isn't trying to cook Poptarts. Let's just say if you don't hurry we might have to call the fire department.
I quickly get out of bed and head straight to the bathroom. I take a quick shower and get dressed.

I don't even put on my shoes. I run quickly downstairs to see Tomika tackling Freddy to the ground. While Ivy was eating an apple watching it.
S- What's going on?
T- He was cooking. I had to stop him.
F- Get her off of me.
T- Shut up you piece of scum.
F- SUMMER SHE IS ABUSING ME.
S- Why were you trying to cook?
F- I'm sick of Poptarts and I didn't wanna wake you up.
S- Freddy you could have burnt the house down. Just wake me up.
Tomika get off of him. She hisses at him and then gets up. She looks at me and her jaw drops.
T- WHAT DID YOU DO WITH MY SUMMER?
F- Huh?
He gets up and Does the same thing she did.
F- WHAT DID YOU DO WITH MY SUMMER?
S- Nothing
Tomika walks up to me. She grabs my cheeks at inspects me.
T- Looks like Summer
She then smells me and I just put a confused look on my face.
T- Smells like Summer. What's a deep dark secret that only she knows? Oh I got it. What is my favorite word in the entire universe?
S- Narwhal
T- Yea this is Summer. Wait favorite song?

T- Favorite YouTube Red series?

She gasp and slaps Freddy.

T- Also are you two coming to my brother's friend's quinceañera?
S&F- I guess
T- The date was moved to next Saturday.
She calls Zack and then turns back to us.
T- What're you guys doing today?
S- I don't know
F- Me neither
I- I just follow them anywhere.
T- Ok then. Well I gotta go bye. Remember next Saturday.
She leaves and Ivy looks at me.
I- What are we doing today?
I just shrug. Tomika walks back in. Is she ever going to leave?
T- I forgot. I need Ivy for the rest of the day.
F- Why?
T- Because I need someone to play with Parker and like the song it ain't me. Wow I'm dumb.
S- You're not dumb Tomika.
T- Oh than-
S- You're stupid.
T- Wow. I thought you were my friend. Anyway can I take Ivy or not?

The two leave and I turn back to Freddy who had his arms crossed and was glaring at me.
S- Uh What?
F- Why are you doing this?
S- What do you mean?
F- Why are you changing yourself?
S- Freddy people think I'm some perfect girl with no flaws or imperfections. Guess what, that's not me and nor will it ever be.
F- Yes, you are the girl who's perfect. The perfect girl next door.
S- No I'm not. Do you seriously think of me like that? Wow Freddy of all people-
F- What do you mean of all people? Summer you used barley ever talk to me. That all started 5 years ago and we broke apart, why?
S- That's cause I couldn't talk to you.
F- Why couldn't you talk to me?
S- I'm done with this conversation.
I try to walk out but he grabs my wrist.
F- Tell me Summer.
S- I already did. I'm not telling you again Fredrick.
He looks taken back at me calling him by his full name but he doesn't give up.
F- I'm serious.
S- So am I.
F- Do you not trust me?
S- Of course I trust you. You're one of my best friends.
F- Then tell me.
S- You know what fine. It's not like it matters anyway.
He looks at me eagerly waiting. I can't believe I'm doing this.
S- I have had a crush on you for the past 5 years but it's gone now. So you don't have to worry. Now can we forget this ever happened?
F- You what?
S- I had a crush on you God dammit. Now get over it. I did.

I get my wrist out of his grasp and walk out. I need to go to the mall to get my gown for the quinceañera. I know I said I would go with Tomika but I just need to get away right now. More than anything. I hate this. I can't believe he thinks I'm just some perfect girl next door. My parents aren't coming back in months but it was my fault. I chose to stay here with my friends but I didn't think I would miss them so much. So much has changed in the past 4 days. And I hate it. I call my chauffeur and he takes me to the mall. I go to the gown shop alone. I didn't call anyone. I just needed silence. Well not complete silence since there were hundreds of people in the mall.

I got a Blue gown to go with my now vibrant hair. It's big but it wasn't Cinderella style. I mean I'm not trying to look better than the actual birthday girl. Her name was Violet. She's a Junior. She's actually my friend I have met her many of times. I get back in the car and head home well back to Freddy's house.

I get inside trying to be quite as ever but of course I have to trip over my own bag. I groan in pain but don't bother to get up. I just lay here for a while. Looking at the white plain ceiling. I would continue but the door tries to open and hits me. I groan even louder and roll away. The door opens and Zack and Freddy walk in.

Z- Summer?! I am so sorry.
S- Nope my fault. Laying in the doorway was a bad idea.
He helps me up. I thank him but don't look at Freddy. I just simply shrug and walk away.
Z- I can literally feel the awkward tension.
S- Good you were supposed to.
Z- What's that supposed to mean?
S- Nothing. Just freaking nothing.
Z- Sum whenever you come close or do cuss you scare me.
S- Good.
Z- I am so confused.
T- Me too.
We all scream and look behind us. Yet she wasn't there. I look over and see her in the fridge.
T- What happened to all the pizza?
S- WHERE IS IVY?
T- I don't know. I lost her when I came to the fridge. She's in the house though.
I sigh in relief.
T- And what's in the bag?
S- My gown to the quinceañera.
T- You said you'd go with me?
S- Yea but I needed to clear my head.
T- Ok I'll just ask Esme and Kale. Freduardo?
F- That is not my name Tomika.
T- What's up your as-
I give her a stern look.
T- What's up your butt?
F- Nothing. Now leave me alone.
He walks upstairs. I shrug. He screams and runs back down.
Z- What is it?
F- Ivy is-
S- WHAT'S WRONG WITH IVY?
I run upstairs to see Ivy petting a tarantula. I scream.
I- Hi Summy. Meet Allan.
S- When did you get that thing?
I- I've had him for a while now since I couldn't get a dog.
S- Ivy I will get you a dog just go put that thing in a forest or something.
I- OK.
She puts it in a box and runs downstairs. I hear the door slam.
S- NO IVY WAIT FOR ME.
I run downstairs and out the door with the guys screaming at me. I catch up to her.
S- So where are you going to put it?
I- In Jenny's yard.
S- WHAT?
I- Jenny Calleno. I hate that girl. Always showing off her pearl earrings. Like who gives a crap about those things. They're the same ones she's had since she was 3 months old. Yet she still thinks they're so freaking important. Well guess what Jenny. They just show you a cheap little idiot who's a freaking nightmare that even her parents get sick of her. That's why she has a daycare after school but good for her.
I just look at her in shock. She really isn't related to Freddy is she?
I- OH I JUST WANT TO STAB HER EYE OUT WITH A CRAYON. IF SHE TALKS TO ME ONE MORE TIME ABOUT THOSE CRAPPY EARRINGS I'M GONNA LOSE IT.
S- Calm down.
I- Ok I'm calm.
We finally reach 'Jenny's' house. Ivy opens the back gate and drops Allan down.
I- Ok let's go.

We walk back to the house. We go inside to hear Tomika singing Elmo's world and the guys just face palming. Ivy shakes her head and goes upstairs. I need to now adopt a dog.

S- Anyone going to explain what's going on?
Z- Summer you don't wanna know.

I just nod and head upstairs. I go to the guest room. It's just another room. Like my own house. It's not a home to me anymore. It doesn't have the love of a family anymore. That's why I like babysitting Ivy so much. The Huerta family is so close well maybe not with their dad. But other than that they are so close. So is Tomika's, Zack's, and especially Lawrence's. The only love in my house is my own. Yet that's not enough. It's a giant house with only one lonely girl. I love my parents to death but they're never here for me. I don't attend school family things anymore because I don't have one. They know that my parents are never home but they don't know the real reason and they never need to. My family thankfully has two last names. Hathaway and Clarence. So my father goes by President Clarence for my safety.

I lay on my bed and just look at the ceiling. I didn't even know I was crying until I felt a tear fall down my cheek. I wipe it off and grab my guitar. Music is one of the only things that can help me.

I was in full-blown tears now. I lay back onto the bed. I don't want to go back but I want it all to be ok. Not that it was better back then. I hear a knock on the door but I ignore it. The door was open anyways they could just walk in. So they do exactly that. I don't know who it is and at this point I don't care.
T- What's the matter Sum?
S- I really don't wanna talk about it.
T- Is it something I need to know?
S- No.
T- Then I won't worry unless I need to. Do I need to worry?
S- No Tomika there is no need to worry. Why are you here? Not to be rude or anything.
T- Oh we were going to have a movie night downstairs. Lawrence is coming of course but we just wanted to know if you want to come? We're watching the perks of being a wallflower.
S- That doesn't seem like something you guys would choose?
T- Yea but we know it's one of your favorite movies, and we really want you to come. Plus the only reason why it isn't the boy's favorite movie is because it makes them cry and cringe at the same time.
I laugh a little at that remembering the last time we watched it.
S- I'll think about it.
T- Ok Bye Sum but please come. I can't handle the boys on my own.

With that she goes back downstairs. I get up and take a shower. For PJs I just put on an oversized black T-shirt and shorts. I lay back on the bed forgetting everything and falling into a dreamless sleep.

*Morning*
I wake up to a light shining in my eyes and no it was not the Sun. It was an actual flashlight in my eyes. I open them but quickly close them. Being almost blinded.

Z- Wake up. You have school.
S- Are you trying to blind me?
Z- Maybe. I'm mad at you.
S- Why?
Z- You didn't come downstairs last night.
S- Oh I completely forgot. I'm sorry.
Z- Sure you are. Just get up.
S- I'm suspended remember.
Z- No you're not. Principal Mullins called. She let you and Freddy off the hook cause Kale told her you were being harassed by the jocks and Freddy was just defending you. And since Esme was there to she had no choice.
S- Aw that was sweet but ok I'm up.

He nods and walks out closing the door behind him. Sometimes Zack gets really moody. I think he has mood swings. I get out of the bed and take another shower. I get dressed.

I leave my hair down. I grab my headphones and put them on listening to Alan Walker. I pair my outfit with my nerdy reading glasses. They were regular black square glasses but they were nerdy without a doubt. I try to go downstairs but I trip over something and end up falling. Not down the stairs thankfully but I hit my jaw on a step. I yelp and get back up feeling blood trickle down my nose. I instantly put my head back trying to make it stop. I grab the nearest thing near me. Which was the staircase rail. I go downstairs carefully and when I get to the kitchen I grab a tissue and put it to my nose. I'm usually not even clumsy.

T- Are you ok? And you look hot.
S- No I'm not ok. My nose is bleeding because I hit my jaw on a stair. And thanks I think.
T- Do you need help?
S- No it should stop soon. Hopefully. Actually could you get me another tissue.
T- Sure and I have to tell you something.
S- What'd you do?
T- Nothing. Yet. Anyway, the quinceañera was moved to today instead of Saturday. Is that ok?
S- I guess.
T- Great. Another thing. You need a date.
S- W...what?
T- You need a date.
S- Who's your date?
T- Zack. Why?
S- Just wondering but why do I need a date?
T- To dance with. It's a quinceañera.
S- I know that but how could you tell me at such short notice?
T- I was kinda hoping Freddy would be your date.
S- No way. Just no. I would rather go with that creepy jock from yesterday.
T- Why not?
S- We're in a awkward position right now. We can't even look at each other.
T- For me please. I know you could have any guy at the school to go with you but please?
S- I HATE THAT.
She flinched but then just looks at me with concern.
T- Summer tell me what's going on?
S- I absolutely hate that. Freddy called me the perfect girl next door. Which I'm not. I'm not perfect. I don't want people to think that. Ever.
T- Summer, why don't you? People think so highly of you. The girls want to be you and the boys want to be with you. I mean who wouldn't want that?
S- Me. I don't want it. You can take it.
T- What is your problem? Don't you see. People admire you so fucking much. They don't care about your flaws. Cause you don't have any. Well at least not to them. I know you. I know that you're not perfect. I'm not the one calling you that Sum and yet you are blaming me like I am.
I was taken back by her words. I just wanted to curl into a ball and cry.
S- I'm sorry.

Without her saying anything I walk out. I walk to school by myself thinking about my problems.

The whole day was a blur to me. I walked to Freddy's house again all by myself. I go upstairs and start getting ready for the quinceañera. After three hours. I'm finally ready.

I decided not to wear makeup. I would probably regret that desicion later. Yea I got a plain blue gown. Plain. Exactly what I was going for. I didn't want to stand out I wanted to fit right in. Unnoticed I guess you could call it. A rampagous Tomika burst into my room. She looked beautiful.

T- Summer you skipped class today and you weren't at lunch.

T- Let's forget about that for right now. Be downstairs in 20 minutes.

She then picks up her dress again and runs out the door. Her mom definitely forced her to wear that dress.

Freddy's Pov

Me and Zack were in the kitchen just waiting to go. I was kinda depressed and yet also confused. Summer had a crush on me. For 5 years. And she is really mad at me. But why though? I have always considered her a perfect girl. Because she is ever since day one.
Z- Are you ok?
F- I'm fine.
Z- Liar liar hair on fire.
F- No never.
Z- You can lie to me all night but tomorrow you tell me the truth. Got it?
F- Yes.

Tomika comes running down the stairs. This is the first time I have ever seen her in a dress and I've known her since Preschool. I was wearing a plain black tux with a blue tie. Zack was wearing the same but with a purple tie. The colors were blue and purple. Zack was staring at Tomika almost drooling. I just shake my head.

T- I hate this thing. I can't even get down the stairs. Why can't the girls where the tuxes also? Like seriously this is a pain in the butt. I'm surprised I haven't fell.
F- You look great. I bet Zack would say the same if he could talk.
T- Zack wake up. ZACHARY WAKE UP.
He snaps out of his trance.
Z- What?
F- You were daydreaming.
T- How do I look?
Z- Beautiful.
T- Aw thanks but I hate this thing. Where is Lawrence and Esme?
F- They'll meet us there.
T- Ok.
Z- More important question. Where is Summer?
T- Upstairs panicking. I think.
S- I'm not panicking.

We look upstairs and see Summer. My mouth drops. What is happening to me? She walks downstairs and looks at Tomika.

S- Why would I be panicking?
T- I don't know. You tell me.
S- I can't because I wasn't.
T- Oh who cares. We have to go. Or my mom will kill me.

She runs out the door. We all follow behind her. This girl can eat anything but is also one of the fastest girls I know. We finally reach her house which was only a block away. There were two limos and people rushing around outside. I instantly noticed her 4 brothers, her mom, and dad. Since I knew her whole family but the rest of them I was clueless about.

TM- TOMIKA YOU MADE IT.
T- You forced me. I don't exactly have a choice.
TM- Hi Zack, Freddy, and Summer. Where's Lawrence and Esme?
T- They're meeting us there.
TM- Oh ok. All of you look wonderful but we gotta go.

We all pile into the limo. It was just us 4 and Tomika's brothers. The adults wanted to all be in the another one. Even though Nathan is 18 about to turn 19. Most of the ride was quite. Who am I kidding? It was Tomika and Zack arguing with her brothers the whole ride. I was silent just looking out the window.
N- Fred are you ok?
F- Yes.
T- You seem more distant than usual. Is this still all about Monday?
F- No.
T- Ok.
ER- You sure?

That was Eric. He is only one year older than us. He is a sophomore. Yet we all knew his darkest secret. It wasn't even that bad but to him it was. He has a crush on little miss perfect herself. I'm surprised she has never noticed but I can't even talk. And for some reason knowing he has a crush on Sum made me mad. It always has. I just didn't know why.

F- I'm fine. Can we just stop talking about it?
T- Sure. Ok back to the argument. What do you mean Grilled cheese is better than a turkey sandwich? What smacked you across the head this morning to make you think that?

I blocked out the rest of the conversation. I just wanted tonight to be over with. We finally reach the plaza hotel. We get out and go inside. Music blasting. People dancing. And what made Tomika the happiest was the food.

T- THEY HAVE A MEATBALL DUCK AND A CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN. LET'S GO.

She grabs Zack's wrist and drags him a long with him saying help me. No it wasn't actual duck. It was a meatball statue shaped as a duck being Violet's favorite animal. I just stood there awkwardly not knowing what to do or what's going on. Then I see Lawrence and Esme.

F- Hey guys.
L- Sorry we're late.
F- You aren't late. You are 20 minutes early.
E- Dang it.
F- Why did you want to be late?
E- There's a thing called fashionably late Freddy and that's what I was going for.
F- Uh sorry?
E- Whatever. Have you seen Tomika and Summer?
F- Tomika is over at the food table with Zack and Summer is-

E- Stop sneaking up on people.
S- I didn't sneak up on anyone.
L- Yes you did. You almost gave me a heart attack.
S- Sorry. I'll talk to you guys later. I need to talk to Freddy.
F- Me?
She grabs my wrist and pulls me away. She finally stops and we're outside.

S- I'm sorry for being so mean lately. It's not your fault. And don't think it is.
F- It is my fault.
S- Ok fine it is.
She walks over and sits on a step. I sit beside her.

S- It hurt. It hurt so much.
F- What?
S- That you think I'm perfect.
F- I really don't understand what's wrong with that.
S- No one is perfect Freddy and especially not me.
F- Yes you are perfect compared to the rest of us. You are a straight a student without even trying. You are president of student council. You boys falling at your feet.
S- I am forced to get straight A's. I only got student council because of that. I go through minor depression. I don't care about boys falling at my feet. I don't have a family. I fight the urge to cut myself. Does that sound perfect to you? I cry everyday. I have a condition where I can't gain weight anymore. I lost my parents to their freaking job. Does that sound perfect? Does it? Cause if it does then that means everyone is pretty much perfect.

I look at her in shock. Ok maybe I don't know Summer like I used to.  I hated that. I want to know her and yet here she is telling me things I would have never even guessed.

S- Because you need to know. And get that crazy thought out of your head.
F- Summer?
S- Yeah.

She hugs me and with that she goes back inside. That girl never fails to amaze me. I look up at the sky. Stars everywhere shining brighter than ever and only one constellation can be seen. Cassiopeia. I feel a tap on my shoulder. I look behind me to see Tomika.
T- Come on. The ceremony is about to start.
I stand up and head inside with her. The music still playing and people still dancing but what I spotted out of the whole crowd was Summer dancing with Eric. That made me feel angry but I also felt a piece of my heart drop. Why? I don't know.
F- You lied to me.
T- I know. I just wanted you to come taste the meatballs.

She grabs my wrist and drags me over to the meatball statue. Then I see Violet.

V- TOMIKA. FREDDY. YOU CAME.
T- Of course.
F- Happy birthday.
V- It's not my birthday.
T- What?
V- Kidding but thanks.
T- Oh thank God.
V- Where's Zack? And Summer? And Lawrence who is my favorite?
T- That was just so mean.

T- Zack is nowhere to be seen. Summer is with Eric. And Lawrence is on stage.

F- No.

ER & S- Hey guys.
V- SUM. I NEED YOU TO SING.
S- Happy birthday V.
V- Thanks no but seriously I need you to sing.
S- Why?
V- Cause I wanted either you or Tomika to do it and her throat is sore.

She grabs Sum's wrist and pulls her away.
T- Anyone else terrified?
We all raise our hands.
T- Good I'm not the only one.

The next thing we see is Summer on stage with Violet beside her. Everyone's attention goes to the stage.

V- Thank you all for coming to my quinceañera. Yet I will be the one giving the treat. This is Summer. She will be singing tonight. I hope you enjoy and thank you.

She runs off stage. Our attention goes to Sum.
S- Uh hi. Happy birthday Violet and this song is for you since you are the one who is making me sing it. Other than that Happy birthday.

Me and the gang stand there is shock and amazement. People applaud and she bows and gets down. The music from earlier starts playing again. Violet and Sum come back to us. We were still standing in shock.
V- Oh yea in an hour can you sing another one?
S- Fine. I'm only doing this because it's your birthday. Are you guys ok?
T- No not really. You sound so freaking familiar though.
S- Thanks I think.

The rest of the night goes on and Summer didn't have to sing again. But this was a night to remember and a night of confusion.
