Nova's Been Exposed

The April air was humid as Snuffles walked through Hogsmeade. Eagerly, he searched for food. One wizard would set food out for him, but today there was no food. Moreover, he had to dumpster dive.

If Prongs could see me now, Sirius thought bitterly, I'd never hear the end of it.

After finding half eaten chicken and devouring it, Snuffles found a news paper. He planned on ignoring it, assuming it was of him. But once he saw the title, the "mass murderer" eagerly grabbed the paper in his mouth and ran to the Shreaking Shack.

Sirius, who changed out of his animagus form, sat and read the article.

Daughter of Mass Murderer Disowned

Nova Lily Black, the daughter of Sirius Black and some unknown woman, was rumored to have been disowned from the House of Morgenstern over the Christmas Holidays.

"She's arrogant and just like her father," Severus Snape, Potion's Master at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, said when asked what the young Heiress is like. "Add on the daddy issues. She's horrible."

To which Miss Black responded with, "Of course I have 'daddy issues'! The things a man was supposed to teach I learned by time I was ten on my own"

Fiercly independent and self-reliant, Nova Black has a mind of her own.

"She's a young charismatic student with life." Said Minerva McGonagall, Transfiguration professor at Hogwarts. "She's a great student and an excellent Quidditch player."

Molly Weasley, the mother of seven and mother to a close friend of Black (Ronald Weasley), reports Miss Black to be "charming a sweet girl".

"She should be locked up with her father," Pansy Parkinson, classmate of Black, told Skeeter.

"I find her rather delightful," Remus Lupin, Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, reports. "She is always found laughing with her friends, defending others against bullies, and helping the years below her."

The question remains:

Is Miss Black following in her father's footsteps?

Is Nova Black helping her father murder her 'best friend'?

Luckily during Easter Vacation, Daily Prophit reporters were able to question the girl when she appeared in Diagon Alley. She was found shopping for potions ingredients.

Was she planning on poisoning someone?

"I'm buying ingredients for a potion to help with the common cold," Black informed Skeeter. "It would appear my house-elf has fallen ill."

When asked if she was disowned, Miss Black responded without looking away from the shelves of ingredients as she gathered what she need to 'treat the common cold'.

"It would appear you have gotten something correct for once, Skeeter" Black had said, her eyes flicking to the list in her hand. "I was disowned. In fact, I planned on running away."

Shocked by her bluntness, reporters questioned why a mere fourteen-year-old was going to run away.

To which Miss Black responded with "I'm thirteen, actually. I won't be fourteen until June. But to answer your question, I did not and do not like their beliefs and methods. And if you are insinuating this has something to do with Sirius Black, you're more wrong than the no-nosed bastard, V********."

Upon using the name of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, Black turned the corner and walked into another isle.

"If you didn't leave for your father, why did you leave, Black?" Another reporter questioned.

"I will proudly admit that I admire muggles and their customs. Their music is divine and their technology is fascinating. They are just as much as humans as we are." Black said. "In fact, my sister by all but blood is a muggleborn. She is perhaps the brightest witch of our age, and twice the witch you'll ever be."

One infers the witch in question is Miss Hermione Jean Granger, a fellow Gryffindor with Black and a member to what the school refers to as The Golden Quartet.

"The Morgensterns did not take a liking to my views. In fact, they tried to force me into hating muggles. Didn't work out fairly well." Black informed reporters. "They also happen to be toxic, homophobic, and transphobic. I want nothing to do with them, nor them with me.

"I also happen to have a mind and personality of my own. A stubborn one, but my own. They, like other old fashioned families, believe that women are not meant to do anything for themselves. They believe women are meant to serve their husband and care for their children. Imagine raising your daughter to believe that being violated by a man is something she'll have to grow use to. Imagine explaining to your small and precious daughter she is meant to serve a man. It's barbaric and unjust.

"I believe females deserve to know the luxury men do. I believe we are equal. I believe women have the right to be bossy and spontaneous. I believe women have the right to think they have self worth. I believe a marital relationship between husband and wife, husband and husband, or wife and wife should be a team effort. Not one side controlling the other." Black stated her warm honey eyes were lit with fire as she talked animately and passionately. "Women are stronger than most think. I'm not saying this because I am one. I'm saying this because I have seen it.

"Molly Weasley has given birth to seven brave and wonderful children. Children I am lucky enough to be close to." Black began to praise. "The Holyhead Harpies, an all female Quidditch team, play in a male dominate league. Minerva McGonagall, who I hold the utmost respect for, has to deal with little rascals like myself for months on end.

"My point is, The House of Morgenstern is toxic." Black said, grabbing an ingrediant off a shelf. "They attempted to raise me to obey my 'master', my 'husband'. Didn't work out for them, did it? The toxic masculenity only made me realise I'm strong and powerful. It made me believe that I cannot and will not take s*** from a man. Besides, by definition a husband is someone who loves and respects their martial partner."

"You left because you didn't believe in their views of homosexuals, transgenders, and gender equality?" Skeeter asked.

"Correct" Black answered. It seemed as if she wanted to say something else, but did not.

"Now, if you don't mind, not that I care what you allow me to do or not, I'll be going. Binky is sick, and needs to be tended to." Black said as she walked from the shop after paying.

Where is Nova Black living?

Is she helping her father?

Is she trying to kill Harry Potter?

Is she using her beliefs as a ploy to throw off investigations?

"YOU WERE DISOWNED?!"

That was the first thing Nova heard when she walked into the Great Hall for breakfast.

"Wha?" Nova asked as she ate her chocolate chips pancakes.

Harry thrusted the article into her hands.

"Oh look!" Nova said in a lofty and amused look. "I've been exposed!"

"This isn't a joking matter!" Hermione hissed.

"And I've made the front page!" Nova said ignoring her friend. "Ew. Why'd they pick that picture? I look gross."

The group looked at the photo used.

Harry didn't find it gross as she called it. She sported her scarlet Gryffindor Quidditch robes. Her caramel hair was braided into a side french braid as she smiled and laughed. The picture looked as if it came from the quidditch section yearbook for this year. (a/n I don't care if they have yearbooks or not, they have them now. And ya'll will deal with it). Harry knew this because she didn't have a baby face like she had the year before hand.

"I don't think it looks bad," Ron stated.

Nova scruntched her nose up in disgust.

"But I'm pale!" Nova exclaimed.

"Nox, you look fine," Hermione stated, still reading her book.

"Why does my smile look like that?" Nova pointed out.

"I think it looks beautiful," Harry said, examining the picture.

Had he been looking at Nova, he would've seen the red blush that crept onto her face.

"Thanks, Darlin," Nova smiled.

"Anyways..." Ron began trying to get back on topic.

"Nox!" Seamus exclaimed sitting down beside the girl. "Why didn't you tell us you were disowned?"

"Yeah!" Dean and Ron agreed.

"You never asked..." Nova stated, bitting into her pancakes.

"Oh yeah!" Harry began sarcastically. "Let's just come up to you, 'Hey, love! Nice hair! Have you gotten yourself disowned?'"

"You think I have nice hair?" Nova asked raising an eyebrow, hoping to forget what the group was supposed to be discussing.

"Yes-er-what?" Harry stammered.

"That's besides the point!" Hermione squeaked. "You were disowned!"

"I was going to run away anyways. Besides, my exit was pretty amazing," Nova smirked.

"What did you do?" Nevile asked eagerly.

"I hope you punched someone!" Ginny exclaimed.

"Or set off fireworks-" Fred said grinning maliciously.

"-or pulled a prank." George finished, a similar expression on his face. However, George's smirk was less evil.

Nova frowned. "Those sound better than what I did."

"What did you do?" Dean asked.

"Well, I did push Marcus Flint to the floor as he was being a little too friendly." Nova shrugged. "Then I called everyone out on their bullshit. Basically called the lot of them sexist, homophobic, and transphobic gits. Then stormed off to gather my stuff. Freed their house-elf who insisted upon staying with me."

"Wait! This was during the holidays!" Ron exclaimed.

"Yeah..." Nova trailed off. "It was at one of the stupid balls. I hate those things. But I kept the dress."

"That's not the point." Ginny stated. "I dunno why you didn't just come to the Burrow."

"I didn't want to burden anyone." Nova said. "Besides, I'm alright."

Harry wondered how Remus was taking the news. He hoped it helped with the custody battle.

"Where exactly are you staying?" Nevile asked timidly.

"In a refrigerator box in muggle London." Nova said bluntly.

Her friends looked horrified.

"I'm joking!" Nova exclaimed. "Don't worry about where I'm staying."

"Nova, you know you can always live with me," Hermione stated.

"I'm alright. I promise." Nova confirmed. "Besides, I gotta keep Binky safe."

"Binky?" Harry asked.

"My house-elf." Nova said. "She's due for a visit tonight if you guys wanna meet her. Especially you, 'Mione. I know your looking into house-elves rights. You can talk to Binky if you wish."

That night, Nova, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Seamus, Dean, Nevile, and Ginny sat in the common room, waiting for Binky to arrive.

"Binky!" Nova called out.

Moments later, a popping noice could be heard.

Standing two feet in front of Nova was a creature that reminded Harry of Dobby.

Binky's large blue eyes sparkled with happiness as she looked at Nova. She wore a purple sun dress with a small jean jacket and black tennis shoes.

"Hello, Mistress Nova!" Binky greeted.

"Just Nova please, Binks," Nova pleaded. "Anyways, Binky, I wanted you to meet some of my friends since they found out about my disownment."

"Binky would be pleased to meet Miss Nova's friends."

"Binky, when referring to yourself, you use first person pronouns." Nova said softly.

The group were shocked at how soft Nova appeared.

"For instance, when referring to myself I will say, 'My name is Nova Lily Black. My favorite colors are emerald green and dark red. I am the daughter of Sirius Black. I am in Gryffindor, house of the brave.'" Nova explained. "Now you try."

"Master named Bink Binky..." Bink began, but corrected herself quickly. "M-my name is Binky. M-my favorite color is purple. I-I gladly assist Miss Nova."

"There ya go!" Nova praised. She turned to the group who were grinning at her like maniacs. "Introduce yourself using first person pronouns. Tell Binky your favorite and your name."

"My name is Dean Thomas," Dean said, his brown eyes were kind. "My favorite color is a sunset orange."

"My name is Seamus Finnigain." Seamu greeted, his Irish accent thickening. "My favorite color is the color of fire."

"Hello, Binky!" Ginny chirped happily. "My name is Ginny Weasley. I love the color light green."

"I'm Nevile Longbottom," Nev said shyly. "My favorite color is light blue."

"I'm Ron," Ron said. He sounded unsure of what to say. "My favorite color red."

"I'm Harry Potter," Harry introduced. "My favorite color is emerald green."

"Hello, Binky. I'm Hermione Granger. It's a pleasure to meet you." Hermione spoke softly. "I would like to ask you a few questions about when you were with the Morgenstern. Is that alright?"

Binky looked towards Nova, who nodded.

"Binky is alright with your questions Miss Granger." Binky said. Nova sighed and plopped herself onto the couch.

Everyone (aside from Hermione and Binky) grinned wickedly at her.

"What are you lot on about?" Nova asked as she caught their gaze.

"You're just so..." Dean began to try and explained fishing for words.

"Patient" Seamus finished.

"Soft" Harry interjected.

"Sweet" Nevile stated.

"Motherly." Ginny offered.

"Not Nova-" Ron offered.

"With Binky." Dean completed.

"It's scary, mate," Ron informed, earning a wack on the head from Ginny.

"Oh fuck off!" Nova exclaimed.

The group laughed as Ron was hit by a flying pillow, officially knocking him off the chair.

"How did the Morgensterns treat Nova, Binky?" Hermione asked.

"That's enough for now, 'Mione," Nova interjected. "I need to ask Binky some questions before she returns."

"Bye, Binky!" Hermione said as she left Binky.

Nova walked towards her.

"Have I done anything wrong, Miss Nova?" Binky asked.

"No you didn't, Bink." Nova informed. "I do have one request for you."

"What is it?"

"I don't want you to ever speak about how the Morgensterns treated me." Nova stated. "That is my only rule. No one, especially my fri-family, know what the Morgensterns did to me, nor do they get to know how I was treated."

"Alright, Miss Nova." Binky agreed.

"How's everything going with Kreatcher and Granny Greatest?"

"Kreatcher made us food yesterday. He says thank you for the blanket you gave him months ago. Also, your grandmother wishes to speak with you upon your return."

"Thank you, Binky," Nova smiled. "Tell Granny Greatest I will speak to her when I can. Inform Kreatcher I said 'You're welcome for the blanket'. Also remind him if he needs anything, to contact me. Same goes for you."

"Goodbye, Miss Nova," Binky said and disappeared with a pop.

Hermione ran up to Nova.

"Buckbeaks is going to be executed."
