The Longest Dream

The song above is 'Sweet Dreams Are Made Of These' by Eurythmics. I am sure some of you recognise this as Quicksilver's Theme in X-Men: Apocalypse when *spoilers* he saves the school from destruction.

I thought that this was the perfect song to put here 😄

Raven awoke to the sound of birds pecking at her window, made of pure Asgardian crystals, their sweet song flowed through the glass. She arose from her silk bed; running over to the window and peeping out atop of the High Mountains of Gallifrey. Today was the day.

Swiftly, she changed into her baroque robes and raced downstairs, Raven's father, Cornelius, was waiting at the bottom.

"Is it time?" She queried.

He kissed her forehead "Soon." He continued to work on a device Raven took no notice of until now.

"What are you making?" The young Gallifreyan girl asked.

He looked at her, calmly speaking. "None of your concern." Her father slipped the item into his pocket, patting it for safety.

Raven nodded. "I've waited over 100 years and-"

"We all have." He interrupted. "The Gallifreyan Aurora Borealis only comes once in a lifetime." They heard a ding; they gazed up to see the clock strike the hour of nine. It was time. "And here it is." He grinned.

Her father grabbed her hand and they sprinted down the red and gold mountain, their observatory was perched upon. Raven stroked the silver trees as they passed them, her fingertips glowing a metallic silver.

The amber sky blackened; the stars shined bright as a rainbow of colour filled the atmosphere. They stood under a gold willow tree, watching the colours dance in the midnight sky. A cascade of tinted blue swirled through dashes of red; creating a violet shade.

She smiled as it whirled through the stars. "It's beautiful."

The girl leaned into her father's chest, his two hearts beating with joy. His dusty hand stroked her soft brown hair; it was strange being a brunette as she was originally born with blonde hair. That's what happens when you regenerate though.

"I bet you'll see those stars in the future." Her father remarked. "Up close; bright and burning."

She hesitated. "I can't."

He tapped her chin, lifting her head. "I named you Raven for a reason." His fingers combed through her hair "Ravens fly. You can't stay here."

"Just watch me, father." giggled Raven. "I'd rather be a willow tree," She glanced up to the tree they stood by. "Sticking to the ground."

"But you can still get blown away by the wind."

"I know." She beamed. "I just don't choose to." He held her closer as the lights leapt across the sky.

Another flash struck the ground; fire erupted as Raven saw three Daleks float towards the city. Her father tweaked and plastered metal onto the device once more, sparking it.

"Father, please!" She ran down to him. "I'm begging you! We have to leave-"

"No," He placed the device over his daughter's head and strapped it onto her chest. "You have to leave."

She gasped, bewildered. "What?"

"You're too young." He paused, tears building up in his eyes. "You can have a new life and forget everything."

"How can I?" She paused. "And why am I wearing this device?"

"It's a teleportation device." He stated. "It'll send you to Earth with this." Her father placed a box in her hand which she tried to pry open but Cornelius placed his hand on top, stopping her. "Not yet," He implied. "Wait until I'm gone."

Raven froze. "What do you mean?"

"I'm sorry."

"No, you have to come with me!" She yelled, grabbing onto his shoulders. "I can't leave you!"

He stroked her hair "You have to. I am granting you a new life where you can start over and forget about me, forget about all the pain you've endured. You will be a different person and... finally be happy."

Cornelius stuck his thumb into his mouth and reached up to her forehead, rubbing the black ash off her skin. "Goodbye, my Raven." His lips touched her forehead, and, in the blink of an eye, he was gone.

Raven searched the room, noticing the door swinging wide open. She held the box close to her chest as tears rolled down her cheeks like boulders being pushed down a cliff.

She was alone.

Willow's eyes fluttered open to hear the TARDIS hum its song once more. She took a heavy breath, stroking her cheek to feel it damp and cold like a condensed windowpane on a young winter's morning. She'd been crying again.

Some days, she would awaken to a sudden smile on her face; others she would awake upon a puddle of sadness. It was unusual but everybody cries, even if they are asleep.

Willow entered the long hallway, it stretched towards infinity itself. She wandered through, lights flickering all around her as she sped towards the console room. The smell of metal lingered in the filtered air, choking her as it grew stronger.

"Doctor?" She said, waltzing in. "Hello?"

Willow backed out of the room, realising he wasn't there and headed down the dim-lit corridor once more. As she made a quick right, she bumped into an animated object. Her eyes gazed down to find a small red-headed girl with a small button nose and bouncy curls. The little girl stared at her with glee and laughed before running off.

Suddenly, it came to her where she had seen this girl before; it was Willow when she was four years old. How is that possible?

She was taken aback, unknowingly stepping into someone else behind her. Upon turning around, she found herself with Rose. The only thing different about her was that she had shorter hair in two braids.

"You upset my mum!" She shouted, a tone of anger in her voice.

My face contorted into a look of confusion. "What?"

"No one upsets my mum!" She said.

It seemed as if she wasn't looking at Willow, she was looking through her as if she was talking to someone else. She rotated my head to see who she was talking to, but no one was there. Willow twirled back to glimpse Rose turning a corner. In pursuit, she followed her trail but it seemed that she had vanished into thin air.

"Rose!" She yelled. It echoed back like speaking into a deep well; her voice faded into silence. Nevertheless, Willow took a deep breath, thinking that she was simply imagining things. She opened another door and found herself in the kitchen. Willow checked the perimeter to see if anyone was out here but she was alone.

All she needed was to relax and have something to drink, her apparent hallucinations could have been due to dehydration. She hadn't had anything to drink in so long. She took a sip, feeling the cool water rush down her throat.

Abruptly, behind her, something crashed onto the ground. She spun around to check if she had broken something but instead, she saw Jackie in front of two little girls. Willow quickly recognised that it was her and Rose as little girls.

"Which one of you smashed it?" Jackie asked.

It was then she realised where this memory was from. She remembered the day so clearly. Rose fell into a table and knocked an expensive vase off the table; Willow had protected her by saying that she did it.

In fear, she exited the kitchen without even trying to communicate with her past. Why was the TARDIS showing Willow her life story? But why was Rose angry at her? She's never been angry at her. Was she being shown the future as well as the past?

Willow sprinted down the hallway, trying to get back to her room. Her legs began to tire her as she was seemingly lost down the dark corridors. She was unsure whether time even passed in this incredible machine. By the time the Doctor might find her, she could have grown old and it could be the same day she left home.

Suddenly, she stopped, a solid wall stared back at her like a reflection. Willow sighed, turning around to face someone else. It was the Doctor.

She grinned at him in relief while his face saddened. Willow noticed, widening her eyes in fear. "Doctor? What's going on?" She asked but he didn't respond. "Doctor?"

Then, he smiled as if he could really see her there. "I think you need a Doctor." Before she could say anymore, he pulled her into a passionate kiss. Willow felt herself drift back to sleep, being swallowed in darkness.

She seemingly landed onto a cold, soft surface; Willow pulled and tugged at the fabrics around her as she slowly opened my eyes. She was in her room again, with the same purple streaks across the wall. She had been dreaming all this time. A long dream; and she didn't even know it.

Willow jumped out of bed and headed towards the console room again, checking to see if the Doctor and Rose were there. She pressed on the door, pushing it open.

"You were right, you know." She heard Rose say. Willow smiled, knowing that she wasn't dreaming anymore. Rose was sitting with the Doctor by the console. "He was stupid." She quickly noticed that Adam wasn't with them. What happened?

"It's always the pretty ones." The Doctor remarked.

Whilst walking up to join them, Willow laughed. "So what happened while I was away?"

They both looked her way, giggling. The Doctor stood up "Let's just say that Adam isn't needed anymore."

"I told you." She beamed at Rose. "He was an idiot!"

"I know." agreed Rose.

Her eyes kept drifting towards the Doctor. The kiss felt so real, so passionate and she had liked it. Was she really falling for the Doctor?

Willow decided that it was best to keep quiet about her bizarre experience even though she knew they would believe her, but she didn't want them to.

Sorry about that ending. Didn't know how to finish it!

But I liked this chapter and I hope that you did too. I am now working on Fathers' Day which is a lovely story because Rose always reminds me how I only spent seven years with my dad. We'll talk about that later.

Also just hit 100 reads! Wow! I'm so surprised and happy that people actually read my story! Thank you so darn much!
Well goodbye (I don't know what else to put)!
