Boom Town
A certain Slitheen has reappeared in the lives of the Doctor, Rose, Willow and Mickey. However, it seems that everyone is having their own relationship difficulties.
***
Surfing through the Time Vortex, the group ultimately landed at their correct destination; the city of Cardiff in Wales. Rose was busy texting and calling Mickey, over and over again. She wanted him to come and see her, mainly because Willow persuaded her to after the numerous men she had wooed over their time travelling through space.
Also, Willow's new credit card would have arrived by now, so she asked Mickey to get it from Jackie. She was in serious need of some new outfits.
"CARDIFF!" The Doctor shouted, ready to refuel the TARDIS. Jack was helping with some of the cleaning and maintenance, whilst Willow was working on the TARDIS with the Doctor. Her cousin ran back in with excitement, knowing that Mickey was coming.
"So, who's Mickey?" Jack asked with a hint of jealousy.
Still smiling, Rose replied with happiness. "My boyfriend!"
"Wait, I thought that you were interested in several men, including me."
"Well," She shrugged. "I dabble." Rose laughed like a clueless nutcase and danced around the room for a bit.
The Doctor climbed up a ladder with a torch to investigate a technical difficulty. Willow stood by the console, watching him from below.
"Nice arse." She thought to herself in her mind.
Abruptly, there was a sharp knock at the door, leading Jack to answer it. "Who the hell are you?" He demanded in a sharp tone.
She faintly heard the voice of an idiot, coming from outside. "What do you mean, who the hell am I? Who the hell are you?"
"Captain Jack Harkness. Whatever your selling, we're not buying." He said with sarcasm.
"Get out of my way!" With that comment, Mickey barged inside the TARDIS, to the surprise of Jack and the Doctor.
The Doctor peered down from above. "Here comes trouble! How're you doing, Ricky boy?" He joked, using the 'Ricky' joke again.
"It's Mickey!" He said as Rose came up to console to meet him.
She went up to hug him in happiness. "Don't listen to him, he's winding you up."
"Hey, Mickey." Willow grinned pointing out her hand. "Credit card, please?" He complied, handing it to her in response. "Thank you!"
"You look fantastic." He commented, talking to Rose again.
They hugged once more as the Doctor stepped down from his ladder, watching in curiosity. While Jack rolled his eyes in disgust. "Aw, sweet, look at these two. How come I never get any of that?" He asked in sadness.
"Buy me a drink first." The Doctor winked at him. Boys from the future, always hitting on each other.
"You're such hard work."
"But worth it."
Laughing, Willow decided to make a joke of her own. "Oh, boys and their toys."
"Did you manage to find it?" She queried Mickey in delight.
He handed her a passport. "There you go."
She turned to the Doctor in excitement. "I can go anywhere now."
"I told you, you don't need a passport."
"It's all very well going to Platform One and Justicia and the Glass Pyramid of San Kaloon, but what if we end up in Brazil? I might need it. You see, I'm prepared for anything."
"You sound like a Girl Guide!" She jested, giggling.
"Sounds like you're staying, then." They all paused in an awkward silence, glaring at each other and thinking of what to say next. "So, what're you doing in Cardiff? And who the hell's Jumping Jack Flash? I mean, I don't mind you hanging out with big-ears up there-"
"Oi!"
"Look in the mirror." He pointed at Jack next to criticise. "But this guy, I don't know, he's kind of-"
"Handsome?"
"More like cheesy." He wasn't wrong though. The Doctor always said that 51st century guys didn't always understand the past and seemed too cool and swift.
"Early twenty first Century slang. Is cheesy good or bad?" He questioned.
Mickey rolled his eyes in aversion. "It's bad."
"But bad means good, isn't that right?" Jack may be one of the sweetest guys around, but he was a bit of an idiot when it comes to the 21st Century.
"Are you saying I'm not handsome?" The Doctor catechised.
Willow grinned at him. "I think you look handsome." She blushed a little as he smiled at her in surprise. She thought that his cheeks went a bit pink too.
"We just stopped off. We need to refuel." Rose continued about why they were here. "The thing is, Cardiff's got this rift running through the middle of the city. It's invisible, but it's like an earthquake fault between different dimensions."
The Doctor explained further. "The rift was healed back in 1869."
"Thanks to a girl named Gwyneth, because these creatures called the Gelth, they were using the rift as a gateway, but she saved the world and closed it apparently." Willow said, recalling the story Rose had told her when she first came aboard.
Jack decided to join in too. "But closing a rift always leaves a scar, and that scar generates energy, harmless to the human race."
"But perfect for the Tardis, so just park it here for a couple of days right on top of the scar and-"
"Open up the engines, soak up the radiation." The cheesy American interrupted.
"Like filling her up with petrol and off we go!" Rose squealed with joy.
"Into time!" They all reached up for a high five like a goody squad, except Mickey.
"And space!"
"My God, have you seen yourselves?" Mickey sounded very annoyed by this point. "You all think you're so clever, don't you?"
"Yeah."
"Yeah."
"Yep!" Jack whacked Mickey on the shoulder as they started to exit the TARDIS.
Willow followed them, patting Mickey on the head as they went by. "Definitely!"
***
They all exited the TARDIS, all in a buzz to see the sights of Cardiff. You know the sea and Roald Dahl Plass... and other things...
"Should take another twenty four hours, which means we've got time to kill." The Doctor said, shutting and locking the doors behind him.
Mickey spotted an elderly woman walking past with wide eyes. "That old lady's staring."
"Probably wondering what five people could do inside a small wooden box." Jack simply implied.
"What are you captain of, the Innuendo Squad?" Willow could smell Mickey's envy; the distinguishable taste of pure jealousy. In return, Jack put up a 'Whatever' gesture with his fingers.
They started to walk away when Mickey interrupted again with another question. "Wait, the TARDIS, we can't just leave it. Doesn't it get noticed?"
"Yeah, what's with the police box? Why does it look like that?" Jack questioned.
Rose looked behind to speak. "It's a cloaking device."
"It's called a chameleon circuit. The TARDIS is meant to disguise itself wherever it lands, like if this was Ancient Rome, it'd be a statue on a plinth or something. But I landed in the 1960s, it disguised itself as a police box, and the circuit got stuck." The Doctor answered in full detail.
"So, it copied a real thing? There actually was police boxes?" Willow had to admit it, Mickey was a bit thick.
"Yeah, on street corners. Phone for help before they had radios and mobiles. If they arrested someone, they could shove them inside till help came, like a little prison cell."
"Why don't you just fix the circuit?" The American bozo spoke up to displease English tradition.
"I like it, don't you?" The Doctor asked Rose and Willow.
"I love it." She replied, blushing a little bit more.
"But that's what I meant. There's no police boxes anymore, so doesn't it get noticed?" Mickey said.
"Ricky, let me tell you something about the human race. You put a mysterious blue box slap bang in the middle of town, what do they do? Walk past it. Now, stop your nagging. Let's go and explore."
"What's the plan?" She asked, ready to go.
"I don't know. Cardiff, early twenty first century and the wind's coming from the east. Trust me. Safest place in the universe." He exclaimed in a sarcastic tone.
"Right!" Willow said with glee. "I'm off!"
"Hold up!" She turned around to see the Doctor with a confused expression. "Where are you off to?"
"New credit card." Holding it up in front of the group, she simply explained what she was planning to do. "I'm going shopping!"
***
With a new credit card in hand, she was ready to do some shopping. Willow could never resist a good shopping spree; especially when she was working at Henrik's. She just loved the feeling and warmth of new clothes, their touch filled her with delight. Did she have an obsession with clothes? Probably.
The Doctor, Rose, Jack and Mickey went off to a restaurant to talk about past experiences and something. She said that she'd join them later, but Willow was too tied up right now.
That was until an unexpected surprise.
"Hey, Willow." She heard a sudden voice behind her.
Turning around, she gazed at the person that Willow didn't expect to see anymore. She chewed on the skin of her lips lips in a bitter rage. Why was he here? Finally, Willow mustered the courage to speak up.
"James?"
***
"I swear, six feet tall and with big tusks" Jack said to the group as they sat in a small jetty restaurant; annoying the other customers immensely.
The Doctor laughed in annoyance and happiness; it's never good when he's like that. "You're lying through your teeth!"
"I'd have gone bonkers! That's the word - bonkers!" She pointed out, ignoring the Doctor's comment.
"I mean, it turns out the white things are tusks and I mean tusks! And it's woken, and it's not happy." He said, continuing his story.
"How could you not know it was there?" He kept going on with questions that were failed to be answered.
"And we're standing there, fifteen of us, naked-"
"Naked?!
"And I'm like, oh, no, no, it's got nothing to do with me. And then it roars, and we are running. Oh my God, we are running! And Brakovitch falls, so I turn to him and I say-"
Mickey's eyes brighten as he realised what was said next. "I knew we should've turned left!"
"That's my line!"
Rose guffawed just as the Doctor noticed something. "I don't believe you. I don't believe a word you say ever. That is so brilliant. Did you ever get your clothes back?"
He rushed over to an elderly man, reading the newspaper, and snatched it off him as the group continued to talk a little. "And I was having such a nice day."
They all turned to find the Doctor holding up the newspaper in sadness and anger. Rose's face dropped into a frown while Mickey's eyes squinted in recognition of who was on the front page. Margaret Blaine; Slitheen in Disguise.
***
"What the hell are you doing here?" Willow questioned, dropping her bags. "How did you even find me?
"Mickey." He muttered, nervously scratching the back of his head.
Crossing her arms, she sarcastically laughed. "Of course!"
"Listen," He grabbed a hold of her hands, his soft touch warmed her slightly. "I need you, Willow. What you saw that night was a complete misunderstanding. Trust me."
"I don't think I can ever trust you again." She tried to pull away, but his hands remained firmly on hers. "Let me go!"
"Let me explain!" He protested, pulling her back.
"Explain what?" She shouted, knowing that everyone in the shop can hear. "Explain how you ended up on a date with another woman!"
"It wasn't a date-"
Eventually, Willow escaped his grip, crossing her arms once again. "I think I know what a date looks like!" His face dropped into a solemn frown. "I have photographic evidence of you with her AND kissing her!"
"That girl you saw that night, Kira, she works for a company I was interviewing for and she was my chance to get in. I can prove too! I can bring up the website!"
Shaking her head, she knew he was probably just faking it. "Stop it, James. It's over. Do you get that?"
"I came here just for you and I'm not leaving now to be rejected!" He protested. "Please, give me another chance. Just one date to show how much I love you."
Willow thought for a moment. She did storm in on him and didn't ask for an explanation, so maybe he was telling the truth. He did come all this way just to win her affection back. They always say to give second chances to the ones you care about.
She inhaled, drifting slightly. "Ok then." His eyes brightened when he heard what she had just said.
"Really?!"
"One date. That's all."
He took her in his arms, holding her close. "I promise I won't let you down!" Kissing Willow's forehead, he left the shop in a joyful sense of mind.
She laughed for a bit, until her phone buzzed in my pocket. Willow picked it up to find that Rose had texted her. It read 'We've got a problem. Meet up at TARDIS x'.
Abruptly, another text came through. This time, it was a photo. Willow glimpsed at it; seeing another face that she had thought to have died. It was the face of Margaret the Slitheen.
***
They all met up by the TARDIS and travelled down the road to the Mayor's office, preparing to hunt down a Slitheen. Entering the building, they strode up to the main desk in a long line. The group's phones prepped and ready.
The Doctor composed himself for a plan of action, but Jack had other ideas. "According to intelligence, the target is the last surviving member of the Slitheen family, a criminal sect from the planet Raxacoricofallapatorious, masquerading as a human being, zipped inside a skin suit." He glared at him in confusion and frustration.
"Okay, plan of attack, we assume a basic fifty seven fifty six strategy, covering all available exits on the ground floor. Doctor, Willow you go face to face. That'll designate Exit One, I'll cover Exit Two. Rose, you Exit Three. Mickey Smith, you take Exit Four. Have you got that?"
"Excuse me. Who's in charge?" He asked, identifying that he was the leader.
Jack swallowed in regret, however, his annoyance showed. "Sorry. Awaiting orders, sir."
"Right, here's the plan." Pausing, they all turned to gawk at him, waiting for a response. "Like he said. Nice plan. Anything else?"
"Present arms." At once, they all pulled out their mobile phones; prepped and ready for battle.
"Ready." The Doctor and Willow said together.
"Ready."
"Ready."
Jack clicked a button on the phone. "Ready. Speed dial?"
"Yup."
"Ready."
"Check."
"See you in hell." And with that, they went down their separate ways
***
The pair headed up to her office, finding a young Welsh man by a desk. Striding up to him, they waited until he noticed them.
"Hello, I've come to see the Lord Mayor." The Doctor said to him, addressing why they were here.
He smiled, politely. "Have you got an appointment?"
"No, just old friends passing by. Bit of a surprise. Can't wait to see her face."
"Well, she's just having a cup of tea." He said, as if he was trying to make an excuse of why no visitors are allowed to see her.
"Just go in there and tell her the Doctor would like to see her."
"Doctor who?"
He nodded. "Just the Doctor. Tell her exactly that. The Doctor."
"Hang on a tick." Standing up from his chair, he wandered from the desk to the office. The two waited for a bit, hearing mumbling inside. Until a sudden smashing noise; she knew them.
The man came out again in a state of confusion. "The Lord Mayor says thank you for popping by. She'd love to have a chat, but, er, she's up to her eyes in paperwork. Perhaps if you could make an appointment for next week?"
"She's climbing out of the window, isn't she?" She commented with a sweetly smile.
"Yes, she is." He admitted as we headed through the doors to catch her.
They watched her climb down the balcony as the Doctor told everyone the news. "Slitheen heading north."
"I'll get down first." She offered, going after her as the receptionist came out to stop the Doctor and Willow.
"Leave the Mayor alone!" He cried, wrestling the Doctor.
Reaching the ground, Willow saw the Doctor throwing the man away and climbing down after her. "Margaret!"
All of them closed in on her, coming from every corner. She snarled in disgust at the sight of each of them. They thought that they had her, until she ran down a small street that no one was coming from.
"Who's on Exit Four??" Jack yelled.
Rose caught up with the others, sighing. "That was Mickey!"
Beside them, Mickey ran up to join the group, out of breath and slightly dazed. "Here I am."
"Mickey the idiot."
"Oh, be fair. she's not exactly going to outrun us, is she?" Rose uttered, before Margaret disappeared in a flash of blue.
"She's got a teleport! That's cheating! Now we're never going to get her." Everyone sighed, except the Doctor and Willow.
"Oh, the Doctor's very good at teleports." Willow said as he pulled out his sonic screwdriver, ready to teleport her back. The four watched as she appeared, coming towards them, but pausing as she noticed that she was back here. Then she ran away again, using her teleportation device to get her out of there. However, the Doctor made sure she wasn't escaping.
Eventually she gave up trying, out of breath and bewildered that they weren't giving up. "I could do this all day." The Doctor commented, watching Margaret come up to them.
She held up her hands in anger and agitation. "This is persecution. Why can't you leave me alone? What did I ever do to you?"
"You tried to kill me and destroy this entire planet." He said with an honest expression.
"Apart from that."
***
"So, you're a Slitheen, you're on Earth, you're trapped. Your family get killed but you teleport out just in the nick of time. You have no means of escape. What do you do? You build a nuclear power station. But what for?" The Doctor interrogated her as they entered a meeting room.
"A philanthropic gesture. I've learnt the error of my ways." Willow could easily detect the sarcasm coming from her voice.
But the Doctor decided to mention one little detail. "And it just so happens to be right on top of the rift."
"What rift would that be?"
"A rift in space and time. If this power station went into meltdown, the entire planet would go kaboom!" Jack said, mimicking a bomb.
He continued to analyse it. "This station is designed to explode the minute it reaches capacity."
"Didn't anyone notice?" She asked. "Isn't there someone in London checking this sort of stuff?"
"We're in Cardiff. London doesn't care. The South Wales coast could fall into the sea and they wouldn't notice." She paused, looking sincere. "Oh. I sound like a Welshman. God help me, I've gone native."
"But why would she do that? A great big explosion, she'd only end up killing herself." Mickey commented.
"She's got a name, you know."
Shaking his head, Mickey continued to argue with her. "She's not even a she, she's a thing."
"Oh, but she's clever." The Doctor said, interrupting their petty quarrel. Suddenly he ripped out the model and flipped it over to reveal alien electronics.
"Fantastic."
Jack's face lit up with intrigue and excitement. "Is that a tribophysical waveform macro-kinetic extrapolator?" He questioned, speaking in a sort of scientific gibberish.
The Doctor glanced up at him in surprise. "Couldn't have put it better myself."
"Oo, genius!" He turned to Margaret. "You didn't build this?"
"I have my hobbies. A little tinkering."
"No, no, no. I mean, you really didn't build this. Way beyond you." He said, judging her intellect.
Mickey spoke up once again. "I bet she stole it."
"It fell into my hands."
Willow guffawed, making a joke. "Or the owner fell into your claws."
She glared at her in disgust for a moment. "Is it a weapon?" Rose wondered in fear.
Jack placed the board on the floor to demonstrate what it does. "It's transport. You see, if the reactor blows, the rift opens. Phenomenal cosmic disaster. But this thing shrouds you in a force field. You have this energy bubble, so you're safe. Then you feed it coordinates, stand on top, and ride the concussion all the way out of the solar system."
"It's a surfboard." Mickey pointed out.
"A pan-dimensional surfboard, yeah."
"And it would've worked." She said, sounding like a despairing cartoon villain. "I'd have surfed away from this dead end dump and back to civilisation."
"This is civilisation!" said Willow.
"This is a jungle." She glared at the strawberry blonde girl once more with a stern look.
"You'd blow up a whole planet just to get a lift?" Mickey questioned.
"Like stepping on an anthill."
"How'd you think of the name?" The group turned towards the Doctor, finding him staring at a banner that said the name of the project; changing the subject.
Margaret stepped forwards. "What, Blaidd Drwg? It's Welsh." She snarled at the term, as if it were a disease.
"I know, but how did you think of it?" Why did the Doctor need an answer to this?
She started to seem slightly annoyed about this topic now. "I chose it at random, that's all. I don't know. It just sounded good. Does it matter?"
"Blaidd Drwg."
"What's it mean?" Rose asked in scepticism.
"Bad Wolf."
Willow froze for a moment, the two words repeating in her mind, over and over again.
Bad Wolf
Bad Wolf
Bad Wolf
"But I've heard that before. Bad Wolf. I've heard that lots of times." She mentioned, remembering all the times they saw or heard it.
Heard it when they saw the Dalek.
Saw it written on the TARDIS.
Everywhere they go, it's there in front of them.
"Everywhere we go." The Doctor repeated her thoughts. "Two words following us. Bad Wolf. "
She noticed Rose looked a bit panicked. "How can they be following us?"
There was a long pause. Everyone was staring at each other in an awkward silence. No one knew what to say or do.
"Nah, just a coincidence." Waking them up from their trance, the Doctor spoke once more. "Like hearing a word on the radio then hearing it all day. Never mind. Things to do. Margaret, we're going to take you home."
"Hold on, isn't that the easy option, like letting her go?" The American protested.
However, Rose grew excited about going to the Slitheen's home planet. "I don't believe it! We actually get to go to Raxa. Wait a minute! Raxacor-"
"Raxacoricofallapatorius." Once again, Willow was frozen in place. Hearing herself say that, she was overwhelmed. She didn't know that she could say that, Willow didn't understand how she did say it. In fact, she wasn't sure why she said it in the first place.
Everyone had the same reaction as she did. "When did you learn to say that?" Rose queried.
Shaking her head, Willow answered her question. "I have no idea."
"They have the death penalty." Margaret interrupted, drawing the attention back to her. "The family Slitheen was tried in its absence many years ago and found guilty with no chance of appeal. According to the statutes of government, the moment I return, I am to be executed. What do you make of that, Doctor? Take me home and you take me to my death."
"Not my problem." He plainly uttered without having a care in the world.
***
They headed back to the TARDIS to keep Margaret in a safe, tight condition so she could be taken back to Raxacoricofallapatorius where she would be executed for her crimes. Even though she had done bad things, Willow still thought that she didn't deserve to be killed for her actions. She was sure there was a way to reason with her or change her ways.
But Willow had her own plans. James was taking her out, so she needed to be prepared and ready for a date. Well, a date in the cold, so jeans and a jacket will do. Although, a girl her age should look fabulous while in something so simple. So, she chose an expensive top that would show how much work she put into the outfit and designer black skinny jeans to show off her butt. No harm in attracting a few people, it would show him what he had been missing.
She exited the room after applying her makeup and finishing the curls in her hair. Maybe this was her second chance at love, but the only problem was that she couldn't stop thinking about the Doctor. Willow knew that she fancied him a tad, but they weren't meant to be. They were from two different worlds (literally!). There was no chance for them in a universe like this. A 23 year old and a 900 year old being from another planet. Now the universe does seem small.
Entering the console room, Willow made sure to get out of there without them noticing.
"And where are you going?"
Damn.
Turning around, she smiled a smug grin at him. "Just popping out."
"In that outfit?" Jack added.
The Doctor rested his arms on the console, interrogating her. "Where are you really going?"
She rolled her eyes at them in defeat. "On a date..." Breathing in, she hesitated for a moment. "With... James-"
"What?" Both of the men's faces lit up. Though Jack had not been there when Willow first broke up with James, she had told him a few stories about him.
"So, we're all going on dates then." Margaret implied from below.
"Hold up!" Willow said, pointing at her. "Who's going out with Margaret the Slitheen?"
"Margaret Blaine." She said.
"That's the skin talking!"
"Me." The Doctor stepped down from his podium of power, coming towards her. "A villain's last meal. I hope it's the same with you."
Gasping a little, Willow became aware of what he was insinuating. "I thought you were better than that, Doctor."
With her last sentence, she stormed out of the TARDIS in a little fiery rage. Who knew the Doctor could be such an arse?
"You didn't need to do that." Jack insisted, feeling sorry for Willow. "I know you like her and all but-"
The Doctor looked over his shoulder to interrupt him "We're just friends."
"Well, no normal guy would get edgy over a girl going out with another guy." Both men raised their eyebrows, thinking about Willow.
"So, is that why you're edgy about Rose going out with Mickey."
"Touche." Biting his lip, Jack continued his work while Doctor smiled victoriously.
***
Each couple went on their way throughout the small city. Margaret and the Doctor proceeded to a small restaurant to have the last meal, Rose and Mickey wandered for a bit around the complex streets while she spoke about her adventures in time and space and Willow and James were getting closer by the second.
If the Doctor was around to see them hang out, you would be able to detect his envy of their relationship.
Jack remained on board the TARDIS, working on the Extrapolator and how it could help give protection to the ship. But, along with the Doctor, couldn't help thinking about one of the girls. Both men had feelings for the girls, each one was after the other.
James and Willow wandered along the streets of Cardiff, hand in hand and eating fries from the local chippie. It was like old times.
She remembered meeting James at Henrik's like it was yesterday. Long story short; Willow was a cashier and he was buying something. She got him a receipt and started to walk away from the till for a break until he said that she could keep it. And so she did. Though she thought nothing of it, when double-checking it, Willow noticed a few numbers at the bottom with 'Call Me' written underneath.
Although, she couldn't get the Doctor and Margaret out of her head. It was weird how the Doctor would even consider going out with a Slitheen when he perfectly knows that she's dangerous. She just hoped that she wouldn't do anything rash.
"So, why Cardiff?" James questioned, wanting to know why she was here.
Willow wasn't exactly sure what to say. Usually, she'd be able to talk to him about anything, but she couldn't just tell him:
Oh, I'm just travelling throughout space and time.
Defeating aliens on a daily basis.
And slowly falling for a man from a different-
Yeah, definitely can't say that.
"I'm just travelling with Rose and two other mates." She mentioned/
Noticing his face contort into a curious expression, Willow sighed, knowing that he could be jealous. "Any men?" He asked.
She nodded, smiling a little. "Yeah. Only two men at the moment."
"Right." He hesitated.
"No flirting has been used!" They both guffawed out loud, making on-lookers stare at them as they walked towards a small ice cream parlour.
To be honest, she missed this.
***
"Here we are, out on a date, and you haven't even asked my proper name." Margaret said to the Doctor as they looked at their menus.
"It's not a date." He identified. "What's your name?"
"Blon." At first he misheard, thinking she said Blonde. "I am Blon Fel Fotch Passameer-Day Slitheen. That's what it'll say on my death certificate." She just couldn't stop reminding him of her execution; all of this was probably an excuse for her to be saved.
However, he flashed a grin, determined to keep his mind straight on the fact that he shouldn't interfere with the politics of another planet. "Nice to meet you, Blon."
"I'm sure." As he continued to check the menu for any food he might like; she looked towards a flat in the view of the restaurant. "Look, that's where I was living as Margaret. Nice little flat, over there, on the top. Next to the one with the light on." While she spoke, she slipped a drug from her ring into the Doctor's wine, hoping that he wouldn't be able to notice.
"Two bedrooms, bayside view. I was rather content." He turned back to face her, just as she closed her ring and made herself look upset. "Don't suppose I'll see it again."
Unexpectedly, the Doctor took the two wine glasses and swapped them over, knowing that the drug was inside his drink. "Suppose not." He bluntly said.
She beamed. "Thank you."
And he returned a whitening smile. "Pleasure."
She paused, thinking of what to try next. "Tell me then, Doctor. What do you know of our species?"
"Only what I've seen." He said, eyeing her, until looking back down at the menu.
"Did you know, for example, in extreme cases, when her life is in danger, a female Raxacoricofallapatorian can manufacture a poison dart within her own finger." She swiftly moved her finger in the Doctor's direction, sending a dart out towards him.
However, without looking, he snatched it before it managed to hit him. "Yes, I did."
"Just checking." She returned to a happy state. "And one more thing. between you and me." Looking both ways, she checked to see if anyone was listening. The Doctor did the same.
Leaning in close, she whispered her last secret. "As a final resort, the excess poison can be exhaled through the lungs." Gasping, she let out a breath of green gas, but the Doctor had one more trick up his sleeve.
He grabbed a spray bottle and squirting the contents into her mouth to stop her bad breath. She reeked at the taste of it. " That's better." He said, turning back to the menu. "Now then, what do you think? Mmm, steak looks nice. Steak and chips."
***
Rose continued to tell her adventurous stories to Mickey, although she didn't notice his dismay to the topic and felt like a burden to hear her tales.
"The Doctor took me to this planet a while back. It was much colder than this. They called it Woman Wept. The planet was actually called Woman Wept, because if you looked at it, right, from above, there's like this huge continent, like all curved round. It sort of looked like a woman, you know, lamenting. Oh my God, and we went to this beach, right. No people, no buildings, just this beach like a thousand miles across. And something had happened, something to do with the sun, I don't know, but the sea had just frozen. In a split second, in the middle of a storm, right, waves and foam, just frozen, all the way out to the horizon. Midnight, right, we walk underneath these waves a hundred feet tall, made of ice."
"I'm going out with Trisha Delaney." Mickey intervened, building a wall between the two.
"Right. That's nice." She said, unpleasantly. "Trisha from the shop?"
"Yeah, Rob Delaney's sister."
"Well, she's nice." Smirking a little, she giggled. "She's a bit big."
"She lost weight." He commented, stopping Rose from laughing. "You've been away."
"Well, good for you. She's nice." Looking away, she rolled her eyes in repugnance.
They stood in stillness with the melody of the ocean beckoning beside them. "So, tell us more about this planet, then." Deciding to change the subject, Rose continued.
"That was it, really." When Mickey started to walk off, expecting Rose to follow, she sighed in sorrow. She knew her actions caused her to lose Mickey.

Willow stood at the edge of a small pier by the black sea. It was calming; she was calm. James was just getting their ice creams and left her his stuff to look after. She tried to take her mind off the situation at hand, but it seemed that it would not slip her mind. All she was hoping was that the Doctor was ok and that his "date" was going well.
Relaxation in Cardiff. She felt like nothing will go wrong. Willow felt safe and in serenity.
"Get off!" She shouted.
She saw a flash of a little girl being hauled away by two men in blood red robes. They didn't look professional nor-
"Please leave her alone!" My father cried. "She's just a little girl!"
Nevertheless, his cries were for nothing and she was dragged towards two big doors. Her father was held back by two strong men as she was taken into a laboratory of some sort, like the one from her home.
One of the men pointed at a chair with buckles strapped onto it. "Put her there." He commanded, pulling her onto the chair and strapping her down like a prisoner. She was unable to free myself.
"What is she?"
Unexpectedly, she heard a buzzing coming from James' backpack, breaking her out of her trance. Willow knew that she shouldn't be looking in someone's personal items, but she couldn't help herself. Taking out his phone, she observed who was calling.
Kira ❤
Her emotions filled with anger. He lied to her again, and she believed him. He really is a jerk.
No. If she answered it, it could mean nothing. Willow pressed the answer button and selected the speaker button to hear her voice.
"Hey, babe!" She said in a playful manner. "How's you?"
Willow froze, unsure what to do next. She spoke more, however, she wasn't focused on her abnormal sounding voice.
"James?" She said in an annoying tone. "Are you ignoring me? Are you with that annoying little bi-" Interrupting her sentence, Willow hung up in a furious rage.
"Willow?" Turning around, she saw James with a stunned expression, holding two ice creams. "It's not-"
"Forget it!" She tried to storm off, but he grabbed onto her arm, pulling her back. "James, get off me."
He tugged on her like a sick puppy. "I love you, Willow. I can't live without you."
Her eyes were blinded by a bright light, as she found herself back in the laboratory.
They scanned her, over and over again, as if to find out what was the problem. She heard her father banging on the doors, however, he was quickly shunned by the guards.
One of the men looked at his scanner in curiosity. "Records say that she wasn't just entranced by the time vortex; she's part of it."
"That's impossible." The other men crowded around the scanner in both bewilderment and surprise. "You mean the time vortex is-"
"Yes."
"Then we must inform the council of this, immediately!" One of the men, who looked like a guard, walked towards the door. Willow tried to break free, but she couldn't lift the straps.
"But it's just a child!" The man protested, stopping the guard in his tracks. "If we report this to the High Council, they'll use her as a weapon."
"She is a powerful source of energy and we can use that to fight our enemies in the future."
"We. Will. Not. Use. Her!" He grabbed a gun off the counter and shoved it in the guard's face. "How many regenerations have you got left?"
"You won't shoot me!" He said, holding up his hands.
The man simply shrugged in return. "And I won't harm this child."
"I'll give you one word of advice, young man." He held his hand behind his back, reaching for something. "Never give a warning before the attack." And with that, the guard took out a gun and shot the man in the chest. Once on the floor, the guard shot him twenty more times; just to make sure the man wouldn't regenerate.
"Willow?" James questioned. "Are you alright?" She could detect his worry, but she was too built up with anger to address it.
The man started to untie her, however, she held back onto the chair for safety as he tried to pick her up and take her to the High Council. Kicking and screaming at him to let her go; he persisted and struggled to take hold of Raven.
"Willow, just let me explain!" He pulled her closer as she kept blinking in and out of reality.
"Come now, Raven." The guard said, finally heaving her out of the seat. "That's it." She felt relaxed like a feather falling from the sky in angelic motion. Raven was drugged, frozen in place. They eventually got through her.
"That's it. Calm down." She fell into his arms and started to feel tired. It was, as if, reality was intertwining with her dreams.
He held the little girl like a rag doll and started to carry her over to a teleport device. Barely awake, she tried to scramble out, but to no avail.
Until Raven felt something inside of her. A power beyond her measure. Beginning to feel stronger, she prepared herself for the attack.
"Get off me..." She muttered, lifelessly.
"Get off..."
Opening her eyes fully, Raven wasn't just a child anymore. She was more than life itself. She created it, used it and controlled it. She was the moons and stars of the universe. She was inside every planet, every star and every piece of life in the universe.
She was more than just a Timelady. She was Raven.
"I said, get off me!" With that sentence, the child managed to break free from the guard's arms and attacked everyone with her power. Punching and kicking them until they couldn't stand up anymore.
"I said, get off!" Elbowing him in the stomach, Willow observed him fall to the ground in agony. She was finally back in reality, the dream gave her power to do this. James is a jerk and he deserved that.
Although, she was frightened. Willow didn't know she could do that. Running away, she felt the ground beneath her shake as she sprinted towards the TARDIS. She paused, staring high at a bright light that shot out of the TARDIS like lightning. She couldn't believe it. Two problems to deal with in one day.
***
Willow rushed inside the TARDIS in a panic, the Doctor and Margaret were already here, arguing with Jack.
"What is it? What's happening?!" She cried, running up to the console, until being stopped by Margaret.
"Oh, just little me." Ripping the skin off her arm, she pulled it up and wrapped it around her neck, strangling Willow. The Doctor and Jack tried to stop her, however, she managed to keep them at bay. "One wrong move and she snaps like a promise."
"I might've known." The Doctor said, as if he found out who the masked maniac was in a movie. "Just let Willow go and we can get you want-"
"I've had you bleating all night, poor baby, now shut it. You, fly boy, put the extrapolator at my feet." Margaret commanded Jack, he paused, shaking his head. But when her grip around Willow's neck tightened, he complied.
Behind her, she heard the door open. "What the hell are you doing?!" The voice was recognisable; it was Rose.
"Stay back!" He yelled to her.
"Thank you." She says to him as he placed the board by her feet. "Just as I planned."
Struggling to breathe, Willow managed to make out a sentence. "I thought you needed to blow up the nuclear power station."
"Failing that, if I were to be arrested, then anyone capable of tracking me down would have considerable technology of their own. Therefore, they would be captivated by the extrapolator. Especially a magpie mind like yours, Doctor. So, the extrapolator was programmed to go to plan B. To lock onto the nearest alien power source and open the rift. And what a power source it found. I'm back on schedule, thanks to you."
Jack shouted and pleaded with her. "The rift's going to convulse. You'll destroy the whole planet!"
"And you with it!" She stood on the extrapolator and prepared for take-off. "While I ride this board over the crest of the inferno all the way to freedom. Stand back, boys. Surf's up." Outside, the calamity got worse.
All of a sudden, a bright light came out of the TARDIS, flooding the room. "Of course, opening the rift means you'll pull this ship apart."
"So sue me." She said in a sarcastic manner.
"It's not just any old power source. It's the TARDIS. My TARDIS. The best ship in the universe."
However, Margaret didn't listen. "It'll make wonderful scrap."
"What's that light?" Rose asked, closing her eyes.
"The heart of the TARDIS. This ship's alive. You've opened its soul." Willow was right; this ship was a living being.
"It's so bright." Her grip on Willow's neck slipped a little, as she gazed into the light.
"Look at it, Margaret."
She was drawn closer to the light, hypnotised by its tranquillity. Willow had to admit, so was she.
"Look inside, Blon Fel Fotch." The Doctor uttered her real name. "Look at the light."
She looked up at the Doctor and smiled. "Thank you." And that was the last thing she said as she disappeared soon after.
Although, Willow couldn't remember what happened next because she found herself blacking out and falling into a deep sleep once again.

"Father?" Raven shouted through the stretching hallways of The Citadel. Her mind went completely blank after the attack; she was still unsure what had just happened. It was, as if, someone or something had possessed her.
"FATHER!" She yelled once more, hoping to get a response. Falling to the ground, she felt the water from my eyes drowning me. She was lost. So lost.
"Raven?" The little girl glanced up to see a familiar figure. Her father came back for his daughter.
She ran to him with a sense of accomplishment; he caught her in his bony arms and wrapped his fingers around his daughter's hair. "It's ok, my darling." He whispered as he held her on his body, wishing to never let go. "Let's go home."
***
"Willow?" She awoke to the sound of the Doctor's soothing voice. He was stroking the fine strands of red in her hair, holding her head in his hand.
Willow swallowed in agony. "Doctor?" He pushed on her chest, making sure she didn't get up. The smell of burnt toast wafted in the air. A scent of egg was also noticeable as she breathed in, getting the air back into her lungs.
"Don't try to get up. Margaret hurt you pretty badly." He stroked her chin, gazing into her crystal blue eyes. However, he paused, realising what he was doing. Pushing Willow up, she got back on her feet, feeling a bit dizzy. "I'm sure you have a boyfriend to apologise to-"
"He's not my boyfriend and I'm NOT the one who needs to apologise." She sternly said to him. He nodded, understanding what Willow meant and wandered over to Jack and Rose, so she could rest a little.
Her phone vibrated several times. A few calls and texts came through; she knew who it was.

UGGGHHHHHHHH! This was a long chapter! Took me weeks to finish this one!! I've had a Performing Arts exam, auditioned for the school show and have tons of revision to do.
You can tell I'm tired.
But I managed to get this out! FINALLY!
Question: Who do you imagine James as?
I imagine him as Dylan O'Brien. But he's too sweet to be James.
Anyway, next one is an interlude and then we have the two final parts! I can't believe we got this far with this story. Over 600 reads in a few months! My mind is officially blown.
See ya later!
- Alice ❤
