Blunt the Knives

*Molly's POV*

As I had slept it seemed as if I had seen a man with a long grey beard. He wore grey clothes and had a large wooden staff. When I woke up he was gone and I was still in the same Hobbit Hole I found myself in last night. "No...no,no,no." I breathe bringing my legs to my chest. I bury my face down and cry. I'm confused, scared, and thought I could feel myself slipping into insanity. I want to go home. I want to see my family and to put this all behind me. This is real and it is completely insane and yet wonderful. After bawling my eyes out I begin calming myself, and that's when I hear two voices. One of Bilbo's and the other unfamiliar. I wipe my eyes and slowly stand walking towards the door. I hear the unfamiliar voice speak "I'm looking for someone to share in an adventure." Quickly I run to the window and lookout. A tall older man with the same grey beard and blue eyes stands there in that grey tall hat with a staff. Bilbo holds a pipe sitting on his bench and shakes his head pointing it at the man "An adventure? Now, I don't imagine anyone west of Bree would have much interest in adventures. Nasty, disturbing, uncomfortable things. Make you late for dinner, hm, mm."

I open the door and step outside just as Bilbo opens his mailbox and mumbles to himself. The man sees me and seems quite surprised but smiles "Ah, Bilbo, I did not know that humans were in your company." Bilbo glances at me then back to his mail "Yes, quite a surprise for me as well."

I smile "Hi."

The man smiles gripping his wooden staff and nods "Hello young lady. I am Gandalf, a-" his voice trails off and shakes his head "An old friend of sorts."

I smile "Nice to meet you. I'm Molly, and er, it seems like you are dressed as a wizard."

He nods "As I am madam."

My eyes widen full of unbelief but the more I thought of how my being here the more I believed it. Bilbo then turns "Gandalf...not Gandalf, the wandering Wizard, who made such excellent fireworks! Old Took used to have them on Midsummer's Eve. Ha, ha!"

Gandalf smirks and nods to the Hobbit who takes another puff of his pipe "Well. Hmm, I had no idea you were still in business." The wizard narrows his eyes "And where else should I be?" The Hobbit tugs at his collar uncomfortably and clears his throat just before holding the pipe to his lips "Good morning."

He replies sheepishly and begins heading up the steps towards me. He grips my arm and mumbles for me to come inside, but then Gandalf speaks now closer to us "Well, I'm pleased to find you remember something about me, even if it's only my fireworks. Well, that's decided. It will be very good for you, and most amusing for me. I shall inform the others." Bilbo freezes and I turn to the wizard "What adventure were you talking about if it's okay to ask?"

Bilbo then turns to shake his head and points his pipe at the Wizard "Inform the who? What? No. No. No! Wait. We do not want any adventures here, thank you. Not today, not-mm. I suggest you try over the Hill or across The Water. Good morning." he says hurrying me inside. "Wait! I just want to-" Just as I was in the door he closes and locks it twice.

"What's wrong?" I ask more agitated than worried. "Why are we hiding from him?"

Bilbo holds his hand up and we hear a hissing noise just behind the door. It lasts a moment until it was gone along with the wizard.

"Bilbo, I could have asked for his help. Why did you send him away?!"

The Hobbit wrings his hands nervously "Trust me, Elena. We would have nothing but trouble from a wandering wizard."

---

That night Bilbo and I had tidied up the small home and ate delicious meals. As we sat down for a second supper the doorbell rings. Bilbo looks across the table at me and then stands up heading for the door. Opening it up there is a man or more or less a dwarf standing there. He is dressed it old armor and his hands are large and his head bald with a long beard.

"Dwalin, at your service." he says with a bow.

Bilbo makes a slight whimper noise and tightens his robe around himself "Bilbo Baggins at yours."

The dwarf brushes in past Bilbo "Do we know each other?" the Hobbit asks. Ignoring him the Dwarf sets his sights on me "A human girl? Haven't seen one of you in ages...at least not a young plump one."

I furrow my eyebrows as he comes inside and sits in Bilbo's spot. Immediately he digs into the Hobbits meal.

"Plump?" I whisper to myself as Bilbo and I stare wide-eyed at our new guest.

Our eyes widened and we both flinch watching him eat the fish head and all, but Dwalin would not be the last. Soon there would be Balin his brother and two more the next time. Two more dwarves I would consider nuisance but best of friends.

After Dwalin and Balin had taken over the pantry the door rang again. Bilbo and I both went to see who it was. Opening up there were two more dwarves. Both of them seemed not too much older than me and were very handsome.

They introduced themselves "Fili," the first said. "And Kili" replied the other.

Bowing at the same time they replied just as the other two dwarves inside had. "At your service."

Kili then smiles from ear to ear "You must be Mr. Boggins!"

Bilbo shakes his finger "Nope, you can't come in, you've come to the wrong house."

As he begins closing it Kili stops it poking his head in "What? Has it been canceled?"

Fili seems just as confused "No one told us."

Bilbo frowns and glances back at me "Can-? No nothing's been canceled."

The second dwarf smiles barging in "Well, that's a relief."

Soon the other follows strutting in. I quickly back up trying to stay out of sight but Kili freezes when he sees me. I stand still in my place as well while he looks me up and down along with Fili. "Well blind me, a girly dwarf without a beard!"

Fili nods "Aye, she's pretty and plump too. Rare ones those are nowadays."

I narrow my eyes "A be- I'm not a dwarf. I'm a girl...I'm just-I'm just a human."

Fili and Kili look puzzled at one another. "A human girl? Can't say I've seen one this small." Fili says. Kili then comes over to my side wrapping an arm around my shoulder. He is handsome and stares at me flashing a dazzling smile "Ah, but still, a pretty one she is."

I blush and giggle furrowing my brows as both of them stare "It's nice to meet you. I-I'm Molly."

Both smile reintroducing themselves again. I duck under Kili's arm and they look at me then their names are called by Dwalin "Fili, Kili, come and give us a hand"

Kili smiles and pats his shoulder going into the kitchen "Mr. Dwalin."

I look at Balin who is moving a chair "Let's shove this in the hallway, otherwise we'll never get everyone in."

Bilbo's eyes widen and we glance at one another and say in unison "Everyone?"

The doorbell rings longer and harder once more. Bilbo marches to the door "Oh no. No, no! There's nobody home. Go away, and bother somebody else. There are far too many dwarves in my dining room as it is."

I bite my lip nervously seeing how angered Bilbo is, but what I couldn't figure out was why all these Dwarves were showing up. And, why call them Dwarves? Dwalin and Fili were definitely taller than me and Kili is my height. I watch Bilbo march towards the door still fuming "If -if -If this is some Clotterd's idea of a joke, haha, I can only say, it is in very poor taste." As he opens the door eight more dwarves fall over one another onto the carpet. They grumble and someone shouts "Get off!" and "Watch it!"

I gasp and step back looking down at all of them. I look up and behind them is a familiar face, and while Bilbo glares I smile "Gandalf!"

Soon there was a full house. Twelve dwarves, one wizard, one Hobbit, and one human girl. All the dwarves hoarded the pantry setting up chairs, plates, and food. I laughed as Bilbo made a fuss trying to get their attention "Those are my plates! Excuse me! Not my wine. Put that back. Put that back! Not the jam, please! ...Excuse me."

I stand next to Gandalf who taps his head on the dangling candles. They only hang three or four inches above my head as well as a few dwarves. However, some were taller than others and taller than I.

I glance up at Gandalf who is counting dwarves on his fingers "Oin, Balin...um, er."

For some odd reason spit every name out "Fili, Kili, Oin, Gloin, Dwalin, Balin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Dori, Nori, and Ori."

He seems surprised "My dear girl I'm impressed you learned such names so quickly."

I shrug "I'm not sure how, but they're just one thing left to do."

He raises an eyebrow and I smile "To learn the faces. All I see is BEARDS when they look back."

He chuckles and we watch as the feast is put together.

"He's late as usual." says the one they call Bifur.

Gandalf nods "Your right, we're a dwarf short."

"Who is missing?" I ask Gandalf who ignores my question "Dear girl, do you mind handing me that cup?"

I hand Gandalf a small glass filled with wine and he drinks it down quickly. I brush off the fact he didn't answer my question and look to the others. They all eat abundant amounts of food and drink wine and beer. As I watch in amazement as the food goes everywhere someone snatches my arm and places me in a chair. On both sides of me are Fili and Kili.

"Come on lass, what's that name of yours again?" Fili asks.

I look all around at some dwarves looking at me including Balin who gives a smile.

"Molly." I reply.

Fili nods and so does Kili "Yes she told me her name earlier. It's an alright name for a human."

"For a human?" I question just as  Kili pulls my ear "I thought humans had bigger ears than this. "And lighter hair" Fili says tugging at my locks. I gasp and smack both their hands. Quickly they both jerk back.

"Well, I don't." I snap.

Both of them seem angered by my scolding but then laugh "I like this girl. She's a keeper!" Kili says rubbing my head harshly. I groan in annoyance feeling like the little sister caught between her two nimrod brothers.

After eating I see Gandalf and Bilbo talking. Curious I try to make out what they are saying but they are interrupted by Ori "Excuse me. I'm sorry to interrupt, but what should I do with my plate?"

Before Bilbo could answer Fili takes the plate from his hands "Here you go, Ori, give it to me."

I gasp as he then tosses the plate to Kili who tosses dish after glass dish into the kitchen where Bifur, who is not even looking, catches and places them in the sink. As I stand up next to Gandalf we both duck trying to dodge flying plates and knives. Then the dwarves break into song.

As they sing and the beat of the song continues Bofur plays his instrument. Kili takes me by the hand and begins swinging and swaying me back and forth in a dance. I nearly get killed over.

"Kill! I can't dance!" I exclaim.

He smirks "Really? I couldn't tell. Well, maybe I could. Possibly because of you stepping on my feet."

Hee chuckles spinning me around and the music ends and I land on the floor. Everyone cheers and laughs. Fili helps me up from the floor "You alright?"

I smile and nod "Yes, thank you."

Just then there was a loud banging and everyone falls silent.

Gandalf speaks just above a whisper "He is here."

Bilbo shifts uncomfortably next to me fidgeting in place. I become slightly afraid but Gandalf nods to me with a hint of a twinkle in his eye. We both then head towards the door. Wrapping my hands around the handle I pull it open and look to see the raven-haired Dwarf.

I swallow nervously and feel my heart race as I look into his deep blue eyes, piercing into me like lightning. His long black hair and beard were neatly groomed and two braids were in his hair. "Gandalf," he says stepping in. "I thought you said this place would be easy to find. I lost my way, twice. Wouldn't have found it at all had it not been for that mark on the door."

I quickly step back not giving the Dwarf even hardly a second to see me. Bilbo walks in passing the other dwarves "Mark? There's no mark on that door. It was painted a week ago!"

Gandalf looks at me and I shake my head slightly amused as Gandalf speaks "There is a mark; I put it there myself."

Bilbo seems annoyed and the dwarves laugh. I then giggle at his expression but maybe a little too loudly. The dark-haired dwarf looks at me and for a moment his eyes seem to widen. A smile forms on his lips, but it is gone as if it were never even there.

"A human girl?" he questions looking at Gandalf "Where did you find her?"

The wizard smiles "Well, in some odd way I think she found us." He stares at me and I fall nervous under his gaze.

"She found her way here to Mr. Baggin's home the night before. She speaks of living a great distance from here." The Dwarf stares me down and I can feel my face heating up turning a dark red. I want to look away from him but I can not. A certain sensation overcomes me when I look at him. It is something I had never felt before. Something that I can not recognize or explain. I stare back at the dark-haired Dwarf and him at me.

Gandalf clears his throat "Bilbo, Molly, allow me to introduce the leader of our company, Thorin Oakenshield."

AN: Hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. It's a longer once since the first was so short. Now, our main character once she was in this world she totally forgot about the Hobbit book existing. Just her brain switched the names on in her mind from where she had read it. Now, this is going to be based on the movie/book, but I will change things around and the only character I own is the girl. Everything else belongs to the movie and book as well as the songs. Please vote!
