Chapter 2: Home Again

The rest of the week went by in a blur, everyone was giddy about the trip, some for more different reasons.

"Oh it will be so nice to see her again, I actually visited the princess once when we were little, and we were good friends. I haven't seen her in a long time, she will have probably forgotten by now though, after all she is the princess." She gave a fake sad sigh.

"Aw, I'm sure she wouldn't forget you Lila, you are such a nice person."

"Aw, thanks Sabrina, though she may not publicly announce me, for my safety she can't mention me."

Marinette internally sighed, what a life she had, almost as if it were mocking her. At the beginning she had the most beautiful life she could ever want, and now...

It was FINALLY the day of the departure and Marinette was a nervous wreck. She had gone through absolutely every pro and con and predicted and prepared for every possibility that could happen. She pulled her hair into two braids and tied it into a ponytail with a red ribbon similar to the ones she wore when she was ladybug, (u know like in Your Name? I'm a big fan of anime movies.) And she wore a white jumper and black leggings, casual, but comfortable enough to fight in and hide a dagger or two.

"Marinette! Your limo's here sweetie!" Sabine called from downstairs. She took a look around her room, wondering whether she would see it again or not. She almost missed it, it had become home to her these past few years, her safe place to escape her troubles.

The Miracle box was tucked safely in her carry-on bag ,it isn't able to be detected by technology so she figured it would be safe. The airport had already been told of her arrival so they were told not to engage if she were carrying weaponry. She sighed, emotions bubbling inside of her, happiness, sorrow, guilt, anxiousness... but she shoved it down. No emotion, not yet at least. She climbed down the stairs and went to the door, hugging her guardians goodbye.

"Thank you both, for everything, I'll never forget you till the day I die." She said, and meant it. These two had unselfishly done so much for her, and gave her love that her parents weren't here to give because of-

"問候公主,好久不見,很高興再次見到你"

(Greetings Princess, it has been a while, good to see you again). Marinette turned around to see her old butler Ai Zhen, although he was more like family to her, a trustworthy and loyal man he was, his eyes wrinkled into a smile as if his whole face was smiling.

"艾震!我很想你"

(Ai Zhen! I missed you so much!) She exclaimed and hugged him, tears of joy sparkling in her eyes. She pulled away and climbed into the limo, taking maybe the last look she will get of her old home.

"Goodbye, mama, papa." she said softly, they were pretty much her second parents after so long, so she still called them mama and papa. They reached the airport within half an hour, and Marinette would be taking the private jet to China, where she would meet her brother, and maybe someone else too.  When they got there she saw the class was already there, and were told the ground rules and all that stuff, though nobody was really listening, and whispering (not very subtly) to the fox in sheep's clothing in the middle. Well actually, that would be an insult to the poor sheep. Lets face it her clothes are completely, mismatched and anyone with eyes can see that her 'designer' clothes were faking it and trying too hard. Like what the hell is going own with that orange? Marinette took a deep breath, pushed the thoughts away and approached the class.

"Ah Marinette you're here, good, now we can leave, I expect you know the rules-"

"Marinette were did you get the limo from?" Adrien asked

"She probably rented it to make an entrance!"

"yeah

"She probably used up all her money for it just to show me up" Lila wailed.

"Marinette how could you!"

"Yeah that's not very nice!"

"Honestly Marinette really?!"

"Alright settle down, I'll hand out the tickets and we will respectfully wait in line, got that everyone?" She said, looking at Lila's herd, and started handing out tickets. She handed them out alphabetically, but never called out Marinette.

"Madame, Marinette didn't get a ticket"

"Marinette will be taking a different plane as she has family in China." Mme Bustier said shortly.

"Alright Marinette, you can go" she told her politely. Marinette smiled shyly and walked towards Ai Zhen, who was leading her towards the boarding area with her things being held by a personal bodyguard. The class gawked curiously, and some angrily at the scene in front of them. They got through to the plane easily enough, and Marinette made a mental note to get used to people bowing to her again. The plane was sleek and elegant, with with silver and gold detailing. Inside was breath taking, with modern internal design and a bedroom and mini kitchen. Marinette smiled, life had definitely taken a 180 in such little time. She got comfortable in one of the chairs, plugged in her wireless earphones, and sketched for the rest of the flight.

When she arrived in China, her being a nervous wreck would be the biggest understatement of the year. She bit her lip slightly as she walked out into the hot, humid air of home. She joined up with the class discreetly, letting the teacher know she was there, and collected her bags. The sense of belonging calmed her down slightly as she walked, trying to be as unnoticeable as possible. Sure enough, the whispered started a few moments after, and the bowing after that. Did she really look that similar to the last time she was here? But then she saw a figure standing at the back, in front of a sleek black limo, looking important. She smiled. He big brother, that kind, caring slightly scruffy older boy she loved; now a tall, buff, extremely good looking man who was soon to be Emperor. He still had his signature messy brown hair though, but it fell over his face in a way that made him look all the more handsome. He spotted her petite self in the crowd and grin lit up his features, making a some nearby women swoon. She could feel herself weaving expertly through the crowd and crushing him in a hug.

"I missed you Mei Mei" his whispered into her ear, his feathery brown hair tickling her cheek. "though seriously you have gotten even shorter than the last time I saw you."

"Or maybe you have just gotten far too tall for your own good big brother" she chuckled.

"What? Nothing for little old me?" a voice that she knew well called out from behind her. she turned around and practically pounced on him, engulfing him in a hug. Kai laughed, pulling her closer.

"Miss me that much eh? I'm flattered." He said with a smile in his voice.

"Missed you Mei" he whispered, "more than Mr Protective here though" he said a bit louder. Motioning to Wei standing there, a straight expression on her his face thought you could tell he was annoyed. He had always been a little, protective of his sister, and the fact that she had a boyfriend was, um, definitely something.

"Excuse me, I'm not protective, I simply believe she is far to young for this kind of thing." He huffed. Marinette laughed, oh how she missed this.

"Marinette? Who are they?" She sighed, she almost forgot about them.
