7: Treasure

Brian was soon trailing after Ann, who led the way down a dark and narrow hallway.

"W-Where are we going?"

"You'll see," she said, grinning a bit.

But eventually, she came to a door. She opened the door and stepped inside.

Brian slowly approached the door afterwards, wondering wether it was truly a good idea to follow her.

But he shook the thought and pulled the door open, only to be faced with a room filled with jewelry and gold. His eyes widened.

But then he snapped back to reality when he felt Ann tap on his shoulder. He turned, only to find her holding out an emerald necklace just like hers. She smiled.

Brian slowly reached out and took the necklace, and then ran his finger over the emerald. But then he put it on around his neck and smiled back at her.

"You better go..."

Brian slowly nodded. She was right.

He walked out of the room and into the narrow hallway again, and then took off running down it. He didn't stop until he found the door. Brian unlocked it and ran outside of it.

He caught sight of the back door.

"Bye, Ann!" He yelled, and then ran outside.

The crows continued to caw overhead, but he trekked on until he once again found the trees and exited the property by running through them to the front of the house.

Sure enough, the gang of bullies was there.

"What'd you bring?" Cody growled.

Brian gulped and slowly pointed to the necklace around his neck.

"Real emerald... Hmm... Where'd you find it?"

"There's this r-room, filled with gold and jewelry..." Brian stuttered, refusing to admit that Ann had gave it to him.

One of the boys' eyes got as wide as quarters.

Cody looked as if he knew there had to be more to the story, but he just nodded.

"C'mon, boys." Cody muttered, and then turned and began to walk off, the others following.

But Brian simply stood there silently, watching them go.
