Chapter 25

Rachel's POV

Rachel Williams, will you be my girlfriend? I toss and turn on my bed for ages and still couldn't fall asleep. Zachary's question kept on appearing on my mind. It has been a week, since Zachary asked me to be his girlfriend. I replayed that scene on my mind countless of times.

*flashback*

Zachary took in the surprise look on my face. "You don't have to give me a reply now. Take your time to think through. I know you would be concern about Ella's feelings. However, this is not entirely about her, it's about you and me too."

Zachary stood up dusting away the sand from his pants and offered me his hand. I gratefully took it and said, "Thanks."

"Rachel, before I forget. Here. Wear this bracelet along with the necklace that I gave you, if you want to be my girlfriend."

I took the bracelet from Zachary and saw that it was the exact same design with my necklace.

Of course I was ecstatic after hearing that. The guy that I like actually likes me back. How often does this happens right? This wasn't as simple as you guys would think. If I agreed to be Zachary's girlfriend, I have to be prepared losing Ella as a friend. Or maybe even Helen and Nicole.

At least I could ask my friends back in London for advice. With their help, I've come to a decision. It's time for me to be brave and fight for what I want. Tomorrow will be a better day.

I put on a simple print tee and a pair of shorts to meet Zachary. Before I went out of my room, I walked over to my study table and grab something.

"Mum! I'm meeting Zachary at the shopping mall you usually goes to!" I informed my mother as I tied my shoelaces.

"Okay, be safe honey! Are you coming back for lunch?"

"Nope!" I replied with a smile even though my mum couldn't see it because she's in the kitchen, as usual.

The morning sun greeted me as I stepped outside. I took my time to stroll to the bus stop forming all kinds of scenes that would play out later. My hands started to feel cold as I'm really nervous. The bus ride to the shopping mall was actually faster than I thought. Zachary and I agreed to meet at the usual pizza shop the 7 of us would go to.

Glancing down at my watch, I saw that I'm a good ten minutes earlier. Maybe I could do a little window shopping before... Oh forget it, Zachary's here. Taking a deep breath in, I bravely pushed the door and was stuck. Here I was thinking that I could make a grand entrance, gracefully. Puzzled with why I couldn't open the door, the employee of Sunshine Pizza immediately came to my rescue.

"Oh my, I'm sorry but the door has been changed to be 'pulled' from outside." The employee told me with an apologetic look on her face.

"Ahh, no no it's alright. I should have open my eyes and look carefully too." I reassured the flustered employee and gave her what I hope came across as a kind smile.

I'm not those type of customers who would complain at everything and anything. I know how it felt to be screamed by an unreasonable customer. I shuddered at the mere thought of that scenario.

But, what happened earlier on was super embarrassing. People from the pizza shop was laughing at my stupid actions. Just great, right.

As I mustered whatever courage that was left, I marched towards Zachary's table. Zachary's eyes was twinkling with amusement and stood up to help me with my chair. However, when Zachary saw that my wrist was empty, his expression fell.

Zachary just stared at the table with a very disappointed look after he sat down. I couldn't help but snickered at his expression. Zachary's eyes interlocked with mine as he asked, "What's so funny about me getting rejected?"

"Well.." I trailed off as I went to search for something in my pocket.

"Actually, I will appreciate if you could help me with this bracelet. It's hard to wear it with one hand, don't you think?" Zachary's face lit up like the fourth of July after my words sink into his handsome brain.

He shot up from his seat so fast that the chair nearly toppled over.

"Wow, that excited huh?"

Zachary took the bracelet and gently clasp the bracelet to lock it. He suddenly hugged me from his squatting position and I let out a surprised yelp.

"Rachel, let's go somewhere else!" Zachary said and held my hands to lead me out of the pizza shop.

"Where are we heading to?" I asked innocently as I knew Zachary won't tell me.

"Uh uh Rachel, that's a secret!" Zachary gave me a lopsided smile as he made a right turn.

"Oh man! I thought you would tell me straight up."

Neither of us spoke for the rest of the ride, letting the music fill up the car. Zachary drove me to a park that I've never went before. Weird, I've been to all the parks in this town before I moved to London. I guess this was a new one that was built after I left.

"I thought you would bring me somewhere else for lunch." I said to Zachary with a little pout.

Zachary chuckled lightly as he replied, "We are going to have our lunch, here!"

My stomach growled loudly as soon as Zachary was done talking. I sat very still and looked at Zachary out of the corner of my eye.

"Looks like someone's hungry. Let's get going then!" Zachary teased me as he unlocked the door and went out of the car.

Damn it, tummy why can't you growl a little softer? I stepped outside and heard Zachary called out for me.

"Rach? Mind giving me a hand here?"

My mouth formed the letter 'o' when I reached at the boot of the car.

"Zach, you prepared a picnic for us? How would you even know I'll say yes?" I questioned him in disblief.

"Of course I knew! I bet you're glad being my girlfriend now, isn't it?" Zachary said smugly as he carried on taking things out.

"Zachary, arrogance doesn't look good on you."

"Oh really? How about a kiss on the cheek? I'm sure that would improve my features." Zachary suggested and offered me his cheek.

"Like real." I giggled and started to pick up a few items to carry. I look around before giving him a quick peck on the cheek and ran away as fast as I could.

"Hey! Do you even know the meaning of wait?!" Zachary shouted as he immediately grabbed the remaining items to chase after me. The both of us squealed in delight as we ran around the park.

"Gotcha!"

I let out a scream as Zachary hugged me from the back. His arms wrapped around my waist while his hands are full with our lunch. I could feel Zachary's hot breath fanning my ears as he panted from the running exercise.

"Rachel, you sure can run fast uh." Zachary said as I turned around facing him. He continued hugging me as we gazed at each other.

"Make sure to work out more so that you can catch up with me then!" It was finally my turn to wink at Zachary.

Zachary laughed out loud and we laid out the picnic mat. I helped out by placing the food that Zachary prepared on the mat. I was amazed by the variety of food that I found in the lunch boxes.

"Rachel, say ah." Zachary said as he was ready to hand feed me a chicken sandwich.

"Oh my goodness. I can eat by myself, thanks."

I reached over to get the sandwich, but Zachary moved his hand away.

"I know you can, but you know, that's what couples do right? Feeding each other like they are not capable to do it?"

"What? Clearly you didn't like to do so, then why start it?" I answered Zachary with my own questions.

Zachary chuckled and took a bite of the sandwich that was meant for me.

"I was just testing you. Both of us didn't like those kind of stuffs. Can't you see how suitable we are for each other?" Zachary finished off with a large grin.

Seriously, this guy, my boyfriend(ooohh I love the sound of this) could be so childish sometimes.

"We should totally take a photo right now. Rachel, smile at the camera."

I heard the click sound from the camera before I could even smile properly.

"Hey! I wasn't even ready! Delete that photo!" I snatched over Zachary's phone and tap on the rubbish bin button.

"No you're not." Zachary grabbed back his phone when I was about to tap delete.

"Why not? My facial expression looked so stone there!" I argued and crossed my arms over my chest.

Zachary saw that I was glumly staring at the ground, he placed his phone in front of me.

"Hey, you don't look stone or whatever. In fact, you look so cute here."

Taking a quick glance at the photo, I have to admit that it wasn't as bad as I thought. I nodded at Zachary and gave him a sheepish smile.
