Chapter 24

"Where am I going? In case you couldn't see, I'm going to join the rest." I said and tried to go around Zachary's arm. But, his reaction was really fast as he planted himself in front of me.

"Wearing this?" Zachary eyeing me from head to toe and raised an eyebrow at me.

"You've got a problem with that?"

"So, tell me how are you going to swim without a proper swimsuit?"

"Who says I'm going to swim? You know I ca-"

"I'll teach you. Go change." Zachary turned me around and gave me a light push towards the restroom.

"I didn't say I want to learn either."

"Rachel Faith Williams. Just change into your swimsuit and stop arguing."

I guess this wasn't the time for me to be stubborn.

Zachary's POV

I leant against the railing and crossed my arms  waiting for Rachel to come out. Rachel peeked out from the restroom door and quickly ducked inside when she saw me. Chuckling at her shy actions, I approached the restroom and knock on the door.

"Rachel, if you don't come out, how can I teach you swimming?"

"Um.. About the teaching part, maybe we can give it a pass?"

What? Why was Rachel so hesitant of me being her swimming coach?

"No we can't. Come out." My tone was firm so Rachel have no other options but to comply. The door handle was pushed down and I took a step back in case the door smack right in my face.

Rachel wrapped a towel around her body as she walked out. I grinned at Rachel's attempt to cover up herself till the last minute.

"Stop grinning at me and let's go."

"Okay, princess."

"I'm not a princess."

We went to a part of the beach that wasn't too crowded.

"Do you need a float to learn first?" I asked Rachel and wriggled my eyebrows at her.

"No I don't. Turn around." Rachel huffed.

"Yes madam!" I saluted her and get myself used to the water temperature as she rolled her pretty gray eyes.

I felt Rachel poked my back. "So, now what?"

Rachel looked absolutely beautiful as I landed my eyes on her. She gazed up to meet my eyes, confused to why I was being so quiet.

"Zachary. Could you please stop staring at me like that?" Rachel raised her arms to cover herself.

"Oh. My apologies. I shouldn't have done that. Let's start." With that, I held out my hands for her to hold.

Rachel gave me and my hand a suspicious look before holding it. I felt the corner of my mouth twitched upward into a smile.

"Now, try to float after we go further into the waters."

Rachel eyed my hand in determination as we slowly walked.

"Alright, straighten your body and use your legs to kick the water while holding onto my hands." I guided Rachel as she was having difficulty in maintaining her floating position.

"Ahhh! I'm going to fall! Zachary, Zachary!!" Rachel screamed out as she grabbed my hands really hard.

I laughed out loud and said, "Rachel, you've got to trust me that I'll never let go of your hands. So, you're not going to fall."

Rachel mumbled an okay, taking a deep breath in before trying again. She started to kick her legs and successfully maintained at her position. Rachel was pretty good at it until her legs were tired of kicking.

"Did you see that? I'm finally able to swim, I mean float!" Rachel was giggling like a little girl and wanted to do it all over again.

Currently, I am lying in between of Rachel and Ella with our Ray Bans in place. Jake went off to flirt with some random girl he found on the beach. Well, as for Helen and Dylan you know they're still enjoying their couple time.

Rachel's top was back on, much to my disappointment. Her long legs glowed under the sun, making me stare at it longer than I should. I sat up, removing my Ray Bands in search of the sun cream. Where was it? I swear, I saw it there before. Ah, there it is.

"I can help with your back if you want." Ella offered, sitting up straight too.

"No, it's alright. I can manage it on my own, thanks."

"Nonsense, you couldn't possibly cover some areas unless your arm is really flexible." Ella waved off my decision and took the sun cream off my grasp.

I winced a little as Ella's cold fingers came into contact with my burning skin. Stealing a glance at Rachel beside me, she didn't even move as though she's asleep.

"Is this scar the one you got it two years ago, saving me from falling off the bench?" Ella's question caught me off guard.

"What? Oh yes."

Ella continue to touch my scar and said, "I remembered that incident like it was yesterday. You were so heroic, Zach. How I wish you could be my hero, forever."

I chuckled nervously and peeked at Rachel, seeing that her jaw tightened.

"I'll be at the drink store." Rachel informed us and rushed off.

Rachel's POV

I could not stay there for another second. Ella, I get what you are doing. However, I don't have to continue listening to the heroic story between them. My jaw tensed as an overpowering jealousy surged through my body. I angrily stomped my way to the drink store.

"I want to order a peach soda, thanks." My tone was harsher than I meant to.

"A cup of peach soda for this pretty lady." The voice was deep and husky as I lifted up my head to meet a pair of twinkling green eyes.

I smiled shyly at the owner and responded with a soft thank you. I was stirring my drink absentmindedly when the good-looking owner asked, "Who made our pretty lady here angry?"

"I'm Rachel, by the way. You don't have to keep calling me pretty lady. To answer your question, nope I'm not angry." I giggled as it's nice to be complimented since I don't get that often.

"Why not? I'm Evan, nice to meet you, pretty lady." Evan winked and offered his hand for me to shake.

"Nice to meet you too, I'm Zachary." Zachary shook Evan's hand before I could and slung an arm over my shoulders.

I elbowed Zachary at the sides as he suck in a breath. "Me too." I grin and shook Evan's hand too.

Evan just chuckled lightly and gave Zachary a bro fist, which Zachary did in respond.

"Hope to see you around, Rachel!" With that Evan went back to serve his customers.

"Zach! What was that for?"

"What?" Zachary played dumb with me and took a sip of my drink. My drink? I used that straw before him. Oh no, did we just indirectly...? My cheeks flushed pink at the thought of it.

"You're thinking of something dirty right?" Zachary asked, amusement dancing in his eyes.

"I did not!"

"Uh uh. Your cheeks, they betrayed you." Zachary pointed at my tomato cheeks and grin.

"Urgh, whatever." I slid off the chair and walked out of the drink store.

"Hey! Can't you at least wait for me?" Zachary questioned as he caught up with me.

"What for? Why did you even follow me here? Go back and let Ella apply more sun cream on you!" I retorted and quicken my pace.

"Rach, did you smell something?"

"What? No."

"It's really strong." Zachary started to sniff the area around me.

"Zachary Davis! Are you implying that I'm smelly?!" I hissed as Zachary shook his head.

"No not you. Relax. Why so serious? By the way, I smelt jealousy." Zachary smirked as he tilted his chin daring me to defy him.

I am so going to defy him.

"Go have your nose check. Stop being so lame, Zach." I turned around so he won't see that I'm smiling.

I found a nice shady spot and sat down staring at the sea. Zachary did the same thing as comforting silence filled between us. Initially I thought it would be an awkward silence, but surprisingly it wasn't. The cool breeze was chasing away the heat of the afternoon sun.

I was enjoying the peacefulness when Zachary asked me a shocking question.

"Rachel Williams, will you be my girlfriend?"
