My eyes flicker open and I see darkness. I can't see anything and fear runs my body and it takes me a while to register I'm running as fast as I can on search for light. I don't want to be in the dark. I'm running for as long as my legs will go for, failing to find light my legs buckle and I drop to the ground, the tears that flew behind me when I was running now stream down my cheeks as my hands cover my face as I sob into them.

"Somebody save me!" I cry.

I feel a warmth behind me and I look up. Someone's hugging me from behind..

"I'll save you.." The voice whispers.

Light shines in the distance like a star in the sky.. And lights up more if my view as it seems to come closer to me. My eyes are open again into my bedroom and I'm already sitting up, I put my fingers to my cheeks and feel my moist face.

"I'm... Crying?" I take in that is was a dream.. No.. A nightmare..

Younger 14 year-old sister Alisandra, or as I call her Ali, bursts in panting and examining me with worry as if she saw her English teacher talking about inappropriate topics.

"Ky are you okay?" She walks to me and sits on my bed and hugs me.

I hug her back and look in confusion. "Yea I'm fine.. What's wrong?"

"You were screaming.." She sighed to know I was okay.

Ali has been acting like my caretaker since 3 years ago when our mom died. Dad left us when Ali was born so losing mom was harsh enough.. She works a job and splits her cash to help me keep us in the house. The things Ali has done for me is so much that everything I did in my whole life could never pay her back, we're only 2 years apart but I'm glad to have her with me.

"I'm fine but thank you Ali.. You ready for school?" I smile

"Yep! Foods ready downstairs and we can get going as soon as you want" she laughs and gets up and walks off

"Hey Ali?"

"Yea Ky?"

"I love you" I smile

She looks a little surprised but she softens and smiles "I love you too Kylie" she closes my door and walks downstairs but then she calls out. "You can suck up all you want but you're showering and brushing your hair!"

I laugh loudly and curse "Fine!!" I roll out of bed and get out of bed.. "First day of grade 11! Let's do this!!" I punch my first in the air and smile brightly.
