*Crunch crunch crunch*
I walk through the woods trying to find some food - at least a rabbit or two. Any food would be great. As long as it isn't poisoned.

I hear some other crunching. Which isn't me. I stop in my tracks and try to be very quiet. I spot a deer. This would be a good dinner. You know,if we are there by dinner.

The reaping is today,so anyone that is 12-18 years of age can get picked. Which I am 13. Oh how I wish I was younger or at least 11!

Soon it's going to be winter. At least I think.
The place where my family lives at,it's pretty dangerous. You have to buy food ,but I hunt.
I usually use a bow or some throwing knives to hunt. Which may I say,I feel extremely guilty for killing animals.

After I hunt I usually go to this little shop thing with a nice lady. Her name is Betty. Usually I bring her some food,because she is super nice to my family and I. Last reaping she gave me some bread. Which I thought was very kind of her. Last time,for the reaping,she told me I wouldn't get picked,which was true. The person that got picked was someone named 'Keira Jones' and someone named 'Jonny Asher'.

I aim my bow at the deer and it doesn't notice me. Before I shoot it,it runs away. I silently groan and start heading back. Well while I'm walking back I should tell you about myself.
I am Dallas Jo Johnson. I am 13 years old. I don't have any friends because I just like to read and hunt. Most of the time I'm just to stuck in my head to notice what's going on,like at school. I have icy - gray - blues eyes. My favorite color is blue and my favorite bird would be a humming bird.

I finally make it to the shop. I see Betty watering some plants,so I walk up to her.
"Hello ma'am."I say. She looks up and smiles.
"Hello,Dallas. I found this necklace and I think it would look really nice on you."She says while holding up the necklace. I take a good look at it and it's a hummingbird. A silver one. I smile and say"It's very pretty. But how much would it be?"She looks at the necklace and back to me."I will give it for free to you."What? How can a pretty necklace like that be free?I stare at her and say"Are you sure? I...I...mean it's a very pretty necklace and stuff?"She laughs and says"It's OK you can have it."Wow! She hands it to me and I smile and say a low 'Thank you ,and I hug her."Good luck on the reaping today."She says while smiling."I don't think I'm going to get picked. There are many people out there. I mean I only have my name in there 3 times."
I say and she frowns.

"What?"I ask
She shakes her head as saying 'nothing'
"OK well I will see you later!"I say as I walk off.
I walk towards my house,which I have 1 older brother and then 1 younger sister.
So I guess you can say I'm the 'Middle' child.
When I get to our little cabin I see my younger sister napping. I believe my older brother,Anthony, is at work he makes weapons. He's 17.
Oh yea and my younger sister is Emily. She is 7 years old.
My mom sees me and says"I have your reaping outfit in your room."I nod.
I go to wash off a little. We don't have an actual tub.

After that I put my reaping dress on. It is white with buttons on the front. Nothing fancy. I put my hair in to a French braid that is hanging off my shoulder.

I look at a little clock we have. It says 1:45.Ok so we have 15 minutes to get there.

I walk out and my mom smiles.
"You look really pretty."She says.
I smile not wanting to respond. Then we head off to the reaping. I have a good and bad feeling about it!

Now let's see what happens next.
