"He smiled and all I could think was 'Oh shit'.

Aaron's difficult. He's mysterious. He's like the moon, a part of him is always hidden. He's not the happiest person on earth either. He's death himself. But I wanna change that.

Today, after I left the classroom to go check on Aaron after he stomped away, changed me. When I saw Brenda standing next to him-basically hanging off his arm, got me fired up.

But I felt better when I saw he pushed her off with a glare. When I saw him get into his car angrily and completely ignore his friend's desperate calls of concern, had me confused at first.

He looked so...sad. He looked as if he'd gone through hell and back, and that tore apart my heart. When I had asked Seth what happened, he had tensely said that Aaron's father needs him. And I was reminded of that night when he dropped me off after the ball. When he talked about his father.

He had said his father doesn't care, he doesn't listen. And that's why I've got an idea.

I'm going to make Aaron Knight happy again. I'm going to do whatever it takes to see a smile on his face every single day. So here I am, leaning against my car after school. It's been three days since he abruptly left and he's been absent for two days after that. Todays the day he came back. He's had a scowl on his face the entire day.

I glance at my watch and see most of the students have left. As you can tell, I'm waiting for Aaron Knight. And I'm going to convince him to get ice cream with me. I don't think he even knows what ice cream is.

I spot him coming out of the school and towards his car. He's focused on his phone and doesn't look up. His eyebrows are furrowed and I start walking up to him.

"Hey Knight," I state casually and put my elbow on his car hood. He looks up from his phone and surprise flashes through his eyes.

"Aurora." He says in a velvety voice and puts his phone away. "What are you doing here?"

"Well, I was wondering what you were doing right now." I stand up straight. He stares at me for a few seconds. "I have work to do." He says slowly.

"Well, work can wait! We're going to get ice cream." I clap my hands together enthusiastically. He narrows his eyes at me. "I don't have time for ice cream Aurora."

"I don't care." I sing and skip to the passenger side of his car. I put my hand on the handle and look at him expectantly. When he doesn't budge I glare at him. And then he's glaring at me too. After a silent argument between our eyes, he sighs and unlocks the door.

I smile happily and hop in. He gets in and mutters something along the lines of 'stubborn women'. He throws his books in the back seat. And I keep my bag on my lap. "Where to?" He mutters and starts the engine.

"Any ice cream stand."

"I'm not familiar with any ice cream stands." He snaps.

"Well then look for one!"

"You're annoying."

"So I've been told." I retort. He's probably called me annoying six times now.

"So why the sudden urge to get ice cream with me?" He questions and glances at me from the corner of his eye.

"I wanted ice cream with a buddy and your the only buddy left since Becca is sick." I lie.

"So we're buddies?" He asks partially amused.

"Yup," I reply with a wide smile.

"What a dork." He mumbles. I gasp and playfully smack his arm.

He drives around and stops around a beach. A couple of feet away is an ice cream stand. With very little customers. We get out the car and make our way towards the stand.

"This is so pointless." He mumbles.

"Your face is pointless." I fire immaturely. He totally had an awesome face.

He narrows his eyes at me but says nothing. We approach the stand and my eyes hungrily scan over the delicious flavors.

"Hi, can I get a chocolate, vanilla, and caramel ice cream. And can you stack them on each other?" I slap my hands together for demonstration. The guy nods and looks at Aaron.

"Whatcha want Knight?" I ask and look over the flavors for any black ice cream. He simply shrugs and I decide to order for him.

"You look like a vanilla dude, he's gonna have a plain vanilla."

The man hands us our ice cream and Aaron hands him a five-dollar bill before I could even utter a word.

I don't bother and try to pay because I know he's going to get pissed. We walk side by side and enjoy our ice cream. The beach is practically empty and the sun is starting to set. There's a cute path alongside the beach.

I unexpectedly wrap my fingers around his wrist and steer us in the direction of the path. He says nothing and I feel like I've crossed a line by grabbing his hand so I let go.

"I haven't had ice cream in the longest." He mumbles.

"Me either," I admit. I've been so busy with school and the ball I hadn't had time for me.

The wind blew a strand of hair out my hair band and onto my face, it was really annoying me. Catching me totally off guard, Aaron reaches out and tucks the hair behind my ear gently, leaving me blushing like crazy.

Calm down Aurora,

It's not like he asked you to marry him.

I lick my ice cream and try not to moan at how good it tastes and embarrass myself further. I really want to hold his hand.

Fuck it.

I decide to do something completely brave and completely crazy.

You only get to live once right?

I slowly slip my fingers in his. His hand is so warm and soft. Nothing like his personality.

He glances down at our hands and runs his thumb softly over my thumb.

Oh my god.

Kill me now, please.

Actually, don't. I really like how his hand feels in mine.

"So, do you even like vanilla?" I ask slowly. I look up at his face and see it's.....normal. He's not scowling or his face isn't expressionless.

He genuinely looks like he's enjoying his ice cream.

He looks down at me and shrugs. "I guess it's fine." He answers simply. He's still holding my hand and I feel my face becoming hot. He hasn't pulled away. So that's good.

"Well, what's your favorite flavor?"

"Mint and chocolate." Dammit. I should've guessed.

We fall into silence and walk side by side while watching the pink sunset.

I stop walking suddenly and just look at the view of beautiful colors forming and the sun leaving to give the moon his time to shine.

We both finished our ice cream and thankfully the cones were edible too.

Aaron stops walking too and looks at me confusedly. "I want to sit and watch the sunset. Can we please sit for a second and watch the sunset?" I ask with puppy dog eyes.

"Only a few minutes." He grumbles. I fist bump the air and skip to a nearby bench. "You know, I'm starting to think you really have no feelings." I tease and flick his forehead. He gives me a frosty glare and rubs his forehead.

"Feelings are for the weak." He says in all seriousness and then flicks me back.

I pulled away from his hand by accident and immediately miss his warmth, now my fingers are cold and lonely. He sighs and plops down next to me. I waste no time and grab his hand again. I glance at him from the corner of my eye and see he's wearing a small smile.

I focus on the sunset in awe. It's crazy how the sun rises each day with no shame and leaves at night to give the moon his time.

"Beautiful," I mutter in admiration as the colors get darker and darker.

"Indeed." Aaron agrees and I turn my head to look at him. He's not staring at the sky, he's staring at me intently.

He awkwardly coughs and turns away, and I feel a blush coming on. Did he just compliment me?

I still haven't looked away from him. His hair is so messy yet it looks so good. I noticed he has a little scar near his ear and I subconsciously raise my arm and my fingers brush over it.

He turns to me with a strange emotion in his eyes that I can't put my finger on. He's staring at me so deeply with those beautiful forest green eyes. I still haven't moved my hand away from his face and I gently take a piece of his curly hair in my hand and twirl it.

His eyes are on my lips and he inches closer. He puts his free hand on my waist and I cup his face delicately. He licks his lips and I run my finger along his jawline that could cut diamonds.

What are you doing?

You can't possibly think he likes you!

Stop, this is wrong!

Is it really?

His lips hover over mine and just as I'm about to tell him to get on with it, he kisses me.

Aaron Knight is kissing me.

On the lips.

And I'm enjoying it.

His lips move expertly with mine and my hand goes to his hair. It's so soft. I'll have to ask what conditioner he uses. I wrap one hand around his neck and the other is softly tugging at his hair.

He runs his tongue along my bottom lip and I feel like I'm in pure bliss. We pull away to catch our breath and I place my forehead on his.

"So what conditioner do you use?"

He throws his head back and lets out a hearty laugh. "You're such a dork Aurora." He says with a smile, looking unbelievably happy.

"Yeah, yeah, just kiss me again."

"As you wish."
