The First Encounter
The snow fell gently onto the calm forest floor. The gentle breeze blew by, rattling the tops of the large pines. As the quiet continued on, a rabbit dashes to the center of an open field. Stopping near the center, it digs through the layers of snow and yanks on a piece of grass. Just as it begins to gnaw on the stalk, it's ears shoot up with its head. Glancing around, its left ear twitches and it turns toward the forest line. Taking a step forward, it braces itself to run.
Suddenly, a large dog bursts out of the brush in the direction of the rabbits gaze. Squeaking in fear, it takes off into the thicket, not noticing that the dog did not pursue. Busting out from the same bush, a young girl follows the dog through the clearing, looking to be about fifteen or sixteen. She quickens her pace as lights and barks echoed through the trees from behind.
Jumping back into the dense forest, she dodges tree branches, jumps over roots and crawls over fallen trees without breaking her pace. Calling out for the dog, she gazes around, not noticing the oncoming root barely peaking through the snow. Smacking her foot against it, she shouts in pain and surprise as a loud pop tells her she just dislocated her ankle.
As the air rushes past her, she crashes to the ground, groaning in pain.
Barely sitting up, she reaches for her left ankle, hissing in pain. The brush from where she just ran from rustles. Hope began to fill her like a bubble.
That bubble quickly shatters as a large man with bulky arms steps into vision, a large knife in his hand.
A half-toothed grin cracks across his scared face. "I finally gottcha!" He laughed, staring into the girl's fear filled eyes. "The boss will be real happy when I bring back," He raises the knife high above his head. "Your carcass!"
As he brings his knife down, the girl screams out. "Marble!"
Suddenly, a large dog with brown paws and a black fur coat on her back launches from the bushes behind the girl, jaw open in a viscious snarl. Colliding with the man, the large dog latches her jaw down on his neck, knocking the man backwards. As he falls, his knife clatters to the ground next to the girl.
In an attempt to scream as he slammed onto the ground, he gurgles blood as the dog tears away from the man, ripping out a large chunk of flesh and splattering his blood everywhere. Slowly, his gurgling stops and the blood begins to slowly pour out and stain the snow-covered ground. Panting, the dog stands over to the side of his lifeless body, the flesh spat out to the side. The large dog has swirls and spots on her back with a brown muzzle, now covered in blood. She's masked with a black face with brown tipped ears and a white tipped tail.
Turning towards the girl, the dog's whole demeanor changes. Whining, she rushes over to the girl's mangled ankle, sniffing it gently and only stopping as the girl winces in pain. Gazing up, she looks deep into the young girl's eyes. "I-I'm fine, Marble. It's just dislocated."
Walking up to the girls face, she begins to sniff her head when the girl gently pushes her away. "Not until you wash your muzzle!" She said, giggling. As the dog bends down to wipe her muzzle off on the snow, a large hand clamps down onto the girl shoulder, squeezing tightly and causing her to shriek in pain.
As her body leaves ground, she feels the world begin to revolve around her. Out of no where, the pressure on her shoulder is released and she feels weightless as she flies through the air. For a few moments, she feels the world slow as her body floats through the air, the sky showing itself as she erupts from the tree line into another clearing.
As she collides with the ground, a sickening thud echoes through the air along with the cracking of bones as a few of them snap.
Skidding to a stop near the center of the clearing, the girl groans as the broken bones shift, causing pain to rack her body.
Eyes closed in pain, the sudden yelp of a dog and snow crashing against her cause her eyes to slowly open, revealing the large dog, Marble, standing in front of her. Her fur coat was littered with cuts with blood slowly oozing out and dripping onto the ground below. She was panting heavily as laughter fills the air.
Growling, the dog adjusts her stance as multiple men slowly emerge from the darkness of the trees, surrounding the two in the center.
Walking out directly in front of Marble, the large man that threw the both of them laughs. "Step aside, dog." He says, stopping a few feet away. "I don't want any more blood to be spilled if it doesn't need to be." He snickered. "Well, except for the girl's."
A ragid breath escapes the girls mouth, causing the dog to turn towards her in worry. Sniffing the girls face, the young child smiles. "Y-You can g-go. S-Save yourself, girl." She whispered, shakily rubbing the dog's head. Wincing, her hand flops to the ground as the man barks out a large laugh. "What?" The dog turns toward the man. "You think your her mother? You are a mut, one that will never have pups and a human is defininatly not yours."
As Marble stays put, growling in defiance, the man raises his hand and all the bushes to rustle. Suddenly, large wolf-like creatures step out all around, standing by the side of the men. "If you don't move, they," He gestures with his other hand. "They will."
Marble growled, unmoving.
Sighing, then man says, "Fine. Have it your way." A hand brushes Marble's back leg. "G-Go!" The girl said, causing the dog to look back. The man drops his hand and suddenly, Marble is ripped away from the sight of the girl. Shouting, "No!" The girl lurches forward in an attempt to save her dog from the jaws of the creatures that snatched her away. Watching in horror, the girl feels pain fly up her body, but it is overpowered by the fear that covered every inch of her as she watches her only friend get scratched, bitten and tore into by the other dogs.
As Marble attempts to fight back, she saw a large figure raise it's hand above the girls head. Barking a warning, she feels the creatures knock her over as the figures hand comes down onto the young girls head.
Shouting in pain, the girl feels her whole body slump down as blood pours down her neck and down her back from the blow. Eyes barely open, she sees the man who hit her standing above her, hand raised with a large, blood soaked rock settled in his palm. Closing her eyes, she hears the air whistle slightly as the man comes down for the final blow.
Then...
Nothing.
No extra pain. Just the sound of flesh ripping open and a spine cracking. Opening her eyes slightly, she sees the man, his hand slightly lowered, standing there with a dumbfounded look on his face. Opening her eyes slightly wider, she finds a large, blood soaked object poking out of his gut, blood pooling onto the ground fron the large wound.
Gasping and gurgling blood, the man tilts his hand in one final attempt at killing the child. As the rock falls, a large black, tentacle like object swoops down from behind the man and catches it, causing the girl to gasp and wince in pain.
The sound of flesh and bones grinding together echoed as the blood soaked object retracted, causing the man to fall backwards and reveal the person who just save the young child. As the tentacle thing above her head sets the rock down behind her head, she groans in pain as her gasp causes her broken ribs to scream in pain.
The man above her now was tall, wearing a black suit with a blood red tie and jet black tentacles emerging from his back. His skin was whiter than the snow, but that wasn't what made the girl gasp in shock.
He had no face!
Gazing up, the man looks towards the wolf like creatures as they tore into another dog that was barely moving on the blood soaked ground. Swiftly, he launches himself over and smacks one of the wolves away, the cracking of bones making the girl wince as it crashes against a tree and lay there, unmoving.
Turning back to the man with heavy eyes, the young girl tries to focus on him as the wound on her head pounds against her skull. As shapes dart to and from the tall dark figure, her eyes finally adjust to see a larger creature jump over her and dash toward the man.
Shouting a warning, the man turns, but it was too late as the wolf had already jumped up and now the mans neck was exposed. As it latches onto his shoulder, just missing his neck, the others attack as well, over powering the man.
Blinking slowly in pain, the child flips over, yelping in pain. Placing her hands on the ground, she does her best to ignore the pain from the fractures one arm as she pushes up. As the man shouts in pain and she hears blood splatter on the ground, she screams mentally as she forces her body up and stands. Looking up, she finds herself staring straight at a large, blood soaked rock.
Perfect.
Grasping the rock in her good right hand, she hears a scream and turns to look back at the fight as the large man's tentacles retract back into his back as he crashes onto the ground from the largest creatures last attack.
Walking up the mans chest, digging its claws deep into his chest, the largest wolf curls his muzzle up in a snarl.
Struggling, the man feels his arms pinned as the wolf raises his head slightly, jaw open and ready for the kill.
CRACK!
The wolf slumps down onto the mans chest, blood pooling from a large wound on his head. The large rock that landed next to the mans head was covered in blood and had crushed the creatures skull into it's brain, killing it instantly.
As the five remaining creatures turn away from the man, he tilts his head back to see the young girl kneeling in the snow, panting.
Eyes closed, the girl felt the world spin around her as the open wound throbbed, her head screaming in pain. Growls echo through her skull. Lifting her head, she sees grey shapes slowly moving towards her, four in all. Another was now standing on the mans chest.
Suddenly, they all began sprinting towards her. Narrowing her eyes, she shakily stood up, the world around her beginning to spin once again. Closing her eyes, she hears the wolf creatures jump as snow gently hit her legs. As slobber splashed against her face, she braces herself for the pain to come, feeling content with her life now that she had done something good and gotten away from her captors.
Heck, I still died by their hand. She thought as she continues to stand there, expecting the feeling of teeth ripping into her flesh to happen at any moment.
A dog yelping and bones cracking causes her to open her eyes as nothing happens. Off in the distance, one of the creatures was limping badly, escaping the large tentacles that were impaling the other four on the ground at her feet.
Gasping for air, the faceless man layed there on his stomach, tentacles out and killing the four that were going to attack the girl. Slowly, groaning in pain, the man stands and carefully walks over to the girl who was still staring at the dead bodies in disbelief. Retracting his tentacles, he kneels down in front of her, softly raising her head to look at his scratched face. "Child," he said, causing the girl to step back in shock.
Crying out as she stepped on her dislocated ankle, she feels herself falling until arms wrap around her, craddling her against the mans chest. "That was dangerous." He continued as she slowly opens her eyes. Sighing, he stands. "But, thank you, young one." He finishes. Eyes barely open, she stutters out, shaking from the cold. "I-It's the l-l-least.......I-I c-could..." A tentacle softly covers her lips. "Hush, child. Rest now, you are severly injured."
Closing her eyes, she feels him begin to walk away as a whine echoes through her head. As she says this one word, he feels his cold heart break for her as he stops. "M-Marble..." He lowers his head as her eyes crack open. "I-I can't..... l-leave....." She says, shaking from the cold and pain. Twisting his head, he spots the body of a black dog in a large blood soaked circle. A cold shiver runs down his spine at the sight.
Gently, he releases his tentacles and they lift up the dog. Nearly dropping the body in shock, his face seems to scrunch at the top, as if he raised his eyebrows as he feels a heart beat softly rippling through his tentacles. Craddling the dog under the girl, he walks away, his blood along with the two he craddled dripping onto the ground.
Probbing the mind of the dog, he finds her voice screaming above the pain for him to not harm the girl. "Calm down, Marble. I wish to help the girl," He pauses. "And you." The mind of the dog barks in laughter. I'm a goner. There's now way you could help me. As a wave of pain causes the dog to go unconcious, he sighs, knowing she was right.
I have to try. For the girl, I have to try.
Suddenly, he is in front of a large buidling, the doors nearly bursting open upon his arrival. As he slowly walks towards the door, he watches as a boy with no eyelids, a carved in smile wearing a white hoodie comes running out along with a kid with a blue mask with black stuff oozing out and a younger kid that seemed to be dressed as Link, only his eyes were red and black with blood dripping from them. As they run to his side, he hands the kid with the smile the girl and the blue mask one the dog. As they carefully run inside, he feels his body finally give out and he falls to the ground, causing the Link kid to shout in surprise and get up under his arm, barely saving his head from hitting the ground.
As the boy shouts for help, a large husky with wild eyes rushes out, lifting the man onto its back.
As the two carry him in, the faceless man silently made a promise to the two he saved.
I will save you two. Both of you will live. No matter the cost. I will.... save you.
