Love Between A Medic and A Half Human
Jack walked past Paige's room when he heard the familiar sound of music. Violin to be exact. Always enjoying listening to his best friend and little sister's music, Jack leaned on the doorframe and took in the sight of her bedroom.
Her walls were light purple. A single king sized bed with a blue quilt set was situated in the corner against the wall next to the window. On the bed were a few stuffed animals- a bear, two wolves, a penguin and a lion. Next to her bed was a simple bedside table with a matching set of drawers against the wall opposite of the window. A study desk stood next to the bedside table littered with books and paper as well as family photos. Some of her and her parents, some of her and Jack and June.
Honestly, Jack couldn't be happier with Paige staying here every now and then. June was happy to have her here whenever things got messy at her family house. It was her solace. Paige couldn't be anymore happier and safer. She wouldn't say it out loud to her parents but she felt that Jack and June were her family more than Tasha and Marcus were. A part of her felt guilty about it but with everything else that had been going on, it was best to just leave it at that.
She felt that the Autobots were her true family. For once, she felt that she could be herself- for once- around them. Especially Ratchet and Optimus. It felt so, so much better for her and she had to smile at the thought. Then a memory came to her. Ratchet kissed her on the cheek. Fighting back a smile and a squeak, she shook her head and pressed the play button on her phone and the music started to play. She listened to it, so did Jack, unbeknownst to her.
Jack smiled softly as he watched her.
Humming softly, Paige sat on the bed, playing her violin. "When, when we came home. Worn to the bones. I told myself, this could get rough. And when, when I was off, which happened a lot, you came to me and said that's enough," she sang, "Oh, I know that this love is pain. But we can't cut it out from these veins, no. So I'll hit the lights and you lock the doors. We ain't leaving this room 'til we both feel more. Don't walk away, don't roll your eyes. They save love is pain, well darling, let's hurt tonight. Ah-ooh-ooh, ah-ooh-ooh."
"Hey don't stop," Jack said gently when she noticed his presence and stopped. "I don't usually like an audience," Paige reminded him.
"That didn't stop you from playing for the others," Jack retorted. "That was because of Miko's smug behind," Paige huffed.
Jack sat beside her, "what's on your mind?" "Love," Paige said, "Ratchet kissed me on the cheek. And... you know my problems with love. He's a Cybertronian and I'm a Galatrian. It could never work."
"Hey it might," Jack said, trying to reassure her. "I don't see how!" Paige snapped at the air and a bright flash filled the room. Jack had to cover his eyes to shield himself from the bright light. When it faded, Jack moved his arm and his eyes widened in shock.
Paige was a Cybertronian. She was sunny yellow with red highlights and she had bright sky white optics.
"P-Paige?" Jack murmured, his eyes wide with shock. Paige looked at him with fear and nervousness. She moved her arms and they transformed into blasters that looked like Optimus' blasters.
"God, I hope they don't fire," Jack muttered only for one of the blasters to suddenly fire and a blaster shot hit the wall.
"Arcee, get in here!" Jack shouted. Arcee hurried into the room in her human form and she widened her eyes.
Paige looked to Arcee with fear and shock as she started shaking. She was close to crying. "Ratchet, get here now!" Arcee said into the commlink in her watch.
"I'm busy Arcee." "This takes precedence! It's Paige," Arcee shot back. She heard the sound of something drop- presumably a wrench- and the sound of hurried pedesteps. "What happened?!"
"You'll have to see it to believe it," Arcee said as Jack did his best to calm Paige down. The three heard the sound of a ground bridge open and close. There was a knocking at the door and Jack hurried downstairs to answer it. Five minutes later, he came back with Ratchet following in his human form.
"By the Allspark!" Ratchet exclaimed. Paige quickly did silent gestures with her hands which meant that she was frantically talking in sign language.
"When did this happen?" Ratchet demanded. "It happened at least fifteen seconds ago," Jack said and he glanced at the singed wall. He was surprised that it wasn't completely damaged.
"Both of you out. Now!" Ratchet barked. Arcee and Jack quickly hurried out of the room.
Paige looked to Ratchet nervously and he gently lifted her chin up. There were scars on her neck cables and he narrowed his optics in confusion. "Can you try to speak?" He asked gently.
Paige stared at him nervously before she took in a deep vent and opened her mouth. "Rat...chet," she choked out and coughed hard. Ratchet placed his hands on her shoulders, "easy, easy. Don't strain yourself. Concentrate."
Paige closed her eyes before her markings glowed sapphire blue and she was back to her human form. Unable to contain her relief, she wrapped her arms around Ratchet's neck and kissed him.
Surprised, he wrapped his arm around her waist. She pulled away and looked up at him. He smiled softly, caressed her face before he kissed her again. The kiss was light, gentle. Ratchet pulled away and gently touched his forehead to Paige's.
"Jack and Arcee are waiting," Paige said with a soft smile. "Let them wait," Ratchet said with a chuckle.
