Deus Ex Machina

At school, Miko had ended up detention and she was bored as heck!

"Detention," she grumbled and rested her head on her arms. She heard distant music and looked to the window and saw Bulkhead jamming out to some rock metal.

So when Miko looked up at her teacher and saw that she was just sitting behind her desk reading some boring column in the local newspaper, she took her chance. She packed up her belongings and quietly snuck out of the classroom into the hallways. When she was halfway down the hallways, she ran to the main entrance before finally running off school grounds entirely.

When she reached Bulkhead, he was singing along to the track he was currently playing. "I love this song!" she cheered as she jumped into the car and started singing along, which broke Bulkhead from his earlier enjoyment.

"Miko, I thought you had a history report to do. Did detention end early?" Bulkhead asked, even though he knew the answer.

"It did for me," Miko answered breezily as she buckled her seat belt and glanced in the sideview mirror before shifting lower into the seat nervously, "Uh-oh. Here comes teacher. And she doesn't look happy. Step on it, Bulkhead!"

"Aw, Miko," Bulkhead sighed in frustration.

With that, he changed gears from park to drive and once he pulled out of the curb, he drove away. Fast.

◊◊◊◊

"Miko, I'm supposed to be your guardian. Not your getaway car. You can't just cut detention. What if your parents found out?" Bulkhead asked her.

"They live in Tokyo, remember? And don't even worry about my host parents. I think I scare them," Miko remarked carelessly as she leaned back against the seat, causing Bulkhead to sigh.

"Miko, listen. If you fail high school, you can't go to...una...keys...coll... What's that word again?" Bulkhead stumbled as he arrived at the base.

"Uh...college?" Miko offered as she jumped out of the car, "You sound just like my parents!"

"Aren't they Japanese?" Bulkhead asked confusedly after he transformed into his bipedal mode.

"They may speak a different language. But they say the same things!" Miko retorted.

"Because we want the best for you! And that means making sure you go to school! Not jail!" Bulkhead countered.

"Uh-oh. What'd you do?" Jack asked with a teasing tone laced into his voice.

"I might have ditched detention," Miko confessed to her close friend sheepishly.

Jack threw his head back with a groan of frustration and Miko was expecting to get a lecture from him as well, considering he was older than her by almost a year. But instead, he exclaimed,

"You couldn't have lied to me? You just cost me 20 bucks!"

Jack dug his black leather wallet from his pocket and retracted a $20 note from the fold. He passed the note to Paige, grumbling about how he was going to end up broke if he continually makes bets with her best friend.

"I'm new with bets," Paige said with an innocent smile, "I play my cards right- I'm the queen of hearts, you're the king of diamonds, Raf's the ace of spades and Miko's the jack of clubs!"

"I love solitaire!" Raf said happily, making Paige and Jack laugh.

"Look, Miko, before I became a warrior, I was a labourer – construction. I can build stuff. I can break stuff. And that's it!" Bulkhead recalled his past, hoping Miko would grasp his point.

"I like breaking stuff! I wanna be just like you, Bulk!" Miko proclaimed.

"Oh... Why do you wanna be like me when you can be a medic like Ratchet?" Bulkhead retorted and Jazz let out a laugh. Nightwalker covered his mouth with his servo but luckily Ratchet ignored the two for now.

"I'm detecting a fresh Energon pulse from the nation called Greece," Ratchet announced, "An ancient city. Quite historic, I believe."

"Ancient Greece, huh? Oh, field trip," Bulkhead sing-songed excitedly.

Ember stood in the flight deck, staring at the screen as the storm raged on. She smiled softly as she heard the door open and she knew it was Knockout.

She turned to him, "I was waiting for you Knockout."

"It was a long drive, Red," Knockout chuckled, "I'm still picking bugs out of my grill."

"Right," Starscream spoke up, "you're one of those." Ember and Knockout looked to the Seeker.

"Come again?" Knockout asked, confused.

"Never understood why any self-respecting Decepticon would choose automobile as his vehicle mode when he could have flight," Starscream huffed.

"I like the way I look in steel-belted radiums," Knockout said with a grin. Ember only chuckled and she, Knockout and Starscream walked out into the halls.

"I take it Megatron needs a laboratory assist?" Knockout asked. "You could say that," Ember said calmly as she coldly glanced at Starscream who nearly flinched back.

The medlab doors opened and Knockout was certainly surprised at the sight that was greeting him. Lying on the metal berth was, in fact, Lord Megatron. There was a significantly large hole in his chest as a result from the Space Bridge explosion. What humans would deem as large cables linked Megatron to his life-support, his only means of living.

"Whoa," Knockout said.

◊◊◊◊

A ground bridge opened in the ruins of Ancient Greece. Bulkhead drove out of the bridge, "here we are!"

Miko jumped out of her guardian's vehicle form and the wrecker transformed into his bipedal form.

"Sweet! So what are we doing in Wreck-O-Ville?" Miko asked excitedly as Bulkhead withdrew an Energon scanner from his compartment.

"I'm scouting Energon. YOU'RE doing research for your history report," Bulkhead answered.

"You punk'd me, Bulk? NOT COOL!" Miko pouted.

"Hmmm...signal's strong," Bulkhead observed as he set eyes on the setting before him, "An excavation sight?"

"Whoa...," Miko breathed.

"I know construction," Bulkhead shrugged, "According to my scanner, humans hit Energon veins. And they don't even know it."

Bulkhead observed the area even more. His earlier statement was correct. This place was definitely an excavation sight. Bulldozers, wheelbarrows and other construction machines surrounded the abandoned sight. That was when Bulkhead laid eyes on the ancient paintings. But there was something about the painting that interested him. And that was the glowing gold globe sitting in the hands of one of the Greek Gods. Bulkhead knew what it was. He couldn't help but exclaim in surprise.

"That's Cybertronian!" Bulkhead gasped.

◊◊◊◊

"Sadly, our inevidently former Lord Megatron has been like this for some time. But the crew took a vote. And it was decided that an expert might put him on the road to recovery," Ember said and she looked to Knockout, "something I can only trust you with."

"Mistress Ember, I've done a lot of body work. But I'm better at breaking them then fixing them," Knockout confessed as he unfolded his drill from his arm to prove his point before folding the drill back into his arm saying, "It would help if I had my assistants."

"I summoned all three of you. Where are they?" Ember asked, raising an optic ridge. Knockout said, "we were hot on a fresh Energon trail when you called. Breakdown will show when he's through scavaging it. And Comet's with Echo on the flight deck."

◊◊◊◊

"Why would Ancient Greeks paint an Energon harvestor?" Bulkhead pondered aloud.

"You know what that round thing is?" Miko exclaimed in surprise before retracting her phone from her pocket, "You're smarter than you let on!"

Miko knew the painting would be significant to the Autobots back at the base. So she opened her pink flip phone and snapped a photo. Suddenly, the two heard a voice behind them.

"But even dumber than he looks."

Bulkhead and Miko immediately turned around. Approaching them was a Decepticon.

He was blue with grey and red highlights and he had golden optics.

"Breakdown," Bulkhead growled. "Miss me?" Breakdown taunted with a smirk.

"Like rust in my undercarriage," Bulkhead remarked sourly. "You know this lunkhead?" Miko asked in disbelief.

"We have a history," Bulkhead said.

"And you have a pet," Breakdown said, "does it play catch?" Breakdown made sure he had a secure grip with both of his servos before pulling one of the nearby pillers from the ground and holding it above his helm. "Catch!" He said, throwing it towards Miko.

She quickly ran away from the oncoming pillar and Bulkhead slammed his wrecking ball into the stone, the force of his weapon shattering the pillar to pieces.

"Miko, stay down!" He said firmly.

In the smoke from the piller impact, Bulkhead didn't see Breakdown coming at him. So when he turned around, he felt Breakdown's body slam into him and knock him into the excavation sight. Mid-air, Breakdown gained advantage and threw Bulkhead into the nearby wall. The ancient stone section crushed under his weight.

"Oops. Hope the pretty picture wasn't too important," Breakdown tormented before he transformed into his vehicle form and drove away.

Miko ran out from behind her hiding place and over to her guardian who sat up.

"Told you I was good at breaking things," Bulkhead groaned.

"I'll always have your back Bulk," Miko said with a smile, "and look! Got us a picture of the picture!"

◊◊◊◊

"It is indeed an Energon Harvester," Optimus said, "a powerful tool created by the Ancients to remove raw energon from any source."

"Greek Gods knew Autobots?" Raf and Paige asked curiously.

"No," Optimus said, "the ancients often used the art of given era to conceal messages. This fresco was likely a signpost indicating a harvester's location hidden somewhere on this planet."

Jack looked up at Optimus, "uh, Optimus, if the Harvester removes energon from anything and you all have energon pumping inside you..." he trailed off nervously.

"In Decepticon hands, the Harvester would be a devastating weapon," Primrose said.

Miko turned to a sullen Bulkhead, "see? You were a genius to total that painting!"

"Miko's not wrong there," Arcee said, "how can the Cons find the Harvester without the fresco?"

"1. Soundwave and Echo," Firestorm said, "either that or-" "With high-speed internet," Raf said, typing into his laptop, "if you do an image search for 'Greek Gods' and 'golden orb', this pops up."

A picture of a statue of Poseidon holding the harvester in the same pose as the mosaic appeared on screen. Raf picked the laptop up and showed the Bots. "It's a museum," he said.

"That's the real deal?" Jazz asked.

Optimus was silent for a moment, "contact Agent Fowler."

"You've reached Special Agent William Fowler. I'm currently on an intensive training retreat and unavailable until Tuesday."

"I hate talking to machines," Ratchet grumbled as they reached Fowler's voicemail.

"And here I thought you enjoyed tinkering with mechanical objects," WhiteRain teased, earning a glare from the medic.

"Without Agent Fowler's direct aid, we will have to confiscate the Harvester on our own," Optimus said.

Bumblebee's frame hitched in surprise and the kids had surprised looks on their faces. Jack waved his hand, "whoa, whoa, whoa! Confiscate?"

"As in steal museum property?" Paige asked.

"That sounds illegal," Raf said nervously. "I do not wish to break human law," Optimus said, "but once the Decepticons learn of the Harvester's location, they will not hesitate to obtain it by any means necessary. We must act covertly."

"No offense Optimus," Paige said, "but covertly and giant robots don't really go together. Museums are public and they have guards and security cameras!"

"No problem!" Miko piped in, "we're small enough to sneak in. And we're not a government secret."

"You sure about that?" Firestorm asked, raising an optic ridge. "Miko, I'm not sure that's wise," Bulkhead said nervously.

"But it may be our best option Bulkhead," Optimus said, "the longer we debate, the more time we give to the Decepticons."

◊◊◊◊

Soundwave had the same picture of Poseidon's statue and the Harvester on his visor. Echo, Ember, Breakdown, Comet, Knockout and Starscream were looking at it.

"Mhm. That's definitely it," Breakdown said. "I'm afraid Megatron's well-being shall have to wait," Ember said calmly before she looked to Knockout, Comet, Echo and Breakdown with a smile, "let's go harvesting, shall we?"

◊◊◊◊

The Autobots pulled up to the museum, Optimus remaining at the front of the building while the others circled around the building.

"Autobots, confirm your positions," Optimus said.

"Westward ho," Arcee, Prowl and Jazz said.

"We're good on the east side," Bumblebee said as he, Nightwalker, Firestorm and Primrose were on the other side.

"South side covered," Bulkhead and WhiteRain said.

"Maintain your guard," Optimus said.

◊◊◊◊

Jack, Miko, Paige and Raf stood on a lift in front of the ground bridge.

"Jack, Miko, Paige, Raf, I will have a clear view of you," Optimus said through the commlink, "once you secure the harvester, I will contact Ratchet to bridge you back to base."

Ratchet pulled the ground bridge lever, activating it, "now, since you'll bypass all points of normal entry, you won't need to worry about setting off the alarm. But take care to avoid any security guards."

◊◊◊◊

The ground bridge opened and the kids drove into the museum.

"Opa!" Miko whispered with amazement. "I don't feel good about this. Stealing from the God of the Seas isn't very good," Paige said nervously.

"You've been raised too well," Miko commented, making Paige and Raf give her looks of surprise and confusion.

The four looked to Optimus who flashed his headlights at them. Jack nodded and he raised the lift to the security camera pointed at the statue. Miko took an upside down picture of the statue from the angle of the camera then placed her phone over the camera.

The security monitor flickered but the guard, who was reading a newspaper, didn't notice.

Miko gave Jack a thumbs up and he moved the lift towards the statue.

Optimus watched the kids when he heard the sound of revving. He shifted his side view mirror and saw Knockout drive up to him.

The Decepticon medic let out a wolf whistle, "sweet rims. 24 gage. You're real heavy duty... just like my friend here."

Behind them, Breakdown arrived on the scene. A weapon appeared on the roof of his Jeep and from that machine, a missile was fired. Realizing the missile's purpose, Optimus transformed into his bipedal mode and caught the missile with his bare servos.

He felt the same burning friction underneath his pedes from when he was stopping the train that Jack, Miko and Paige were on.

Optimus skidded to a stop by the window of the museum. However, the end of the missile left a huge chip in the window, almost shattering it. Optimus looked at the damage he caused with wide optics.

Miko, Paige, Raf and Jack heard the crack and whipped their heads towards the window and the Prime who seemed to have a sheepish look on his face.

Optimus moved away from the glass and he looked around, noticing that Knockout was nowhere in sight. When he looked forward, the Decepticon medic suddenly struck him hard in the neck cables with an energon staff.

The Prime stumbled forward and he fell to the ground. Knockout jumped onto Optimus' back and slammed the energon staff into the Prime's neck cables again.

"Optimus!" Paige exclaimed. Her eyes narrowed and her hands turned to claws. Miko grabbed her.

"It's Cons!" Raf whispered in fear.

"And they've got Optimus!" Jack exclaimed. Paige snapped her head towards Miko, her teeth bared and Miko jumped back into Raf with a startled squeak.

Paige ran out of the museum and she rammed into Knockout with a snarl. The two tumbled across the ground.

Paige grabbed the energon staff in her teeth, her eyes glowing bright blue. Knockout widened his optics and he tried to push the Evaran off as the other Autobots were fighting Breakdown.

Echo leapt out and she rammed into Firestorm and Nightwalker.

Comet tackled Primrose and the two tumbled away.

Knockout glanced up at Paige before he turned around with him on top of Paige. "An Evaran huh? I won't lie, I hoped you were a Irilian," he said with a smirk.

Paige widened her eyes and she froze. 'How did he know about Irilians!?'

Knockout smirked before he took a chance and kicked Paige hard in the gut, sending her flying back. She hit the museum glass with a loud shatter and the alarm started to go off.

Knockout got up and he looked towards Optimus who was starting to get up. The Decepticon medic turned on the energon staff and he charged at the Prime.

Sensing the oncoming attack, Optimus backhanded Knockout away with his arm, sending the medic flying back with a yell.

Jack and Raf stood beside the Harvester as Jack lowered the scissor lift down so they could get out of the museum. "Come on. Time to make our exit, guys." Miko remarked.

She climbed off the scissor lift and ran ahead of them, looking for a way out without getting caught.

When Miko turned to the left, she saw a garage. She thought it was perfect, so she hit the button to open it. As the roller door slowly raised itself automatically, she took off running and climbed underneath it. However, she froze and gasped when the light from a flashlight suddenly illuminated her. The security guard was standing there, looking at her sternly.

"Uh...wassup?" Miko greeted nervously.

"Better come with me, miss." The security guard said seriously, as he grabbed Miko by the wrist and dragged her to his office.

"Not good." Jack remarked as they saw Miko be caught.

"Look!" Raf gasped.

They looked underneath the exit garage door and saw a pair of Cybertronian legs. At first initial glance, they thought it was someone they know.

"Arcee!" Jack called out before they ran for her.

However, when this person pushed open the door and looked underneath, they realized that it wasn't Arcee. They froze in their tracks in horror.

"It's Soundwave!" Raf cried. Soundwave looked at the three humans that stood between him and the Energon Harvester. He released his tentacles and roughly pushed the two out of his way as he reached for and grabbed the Energon Harvester. He stepped outside, transformed into his General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper aerial mode, and flew off. Echo transformed into her Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor and flew after Soundwave.

Knockout and Breakdown saw Soundwave flying away from the museum with their prize in hand. "Mmm, that would be game." Knockout commented. He, Comet and Breakdown transformed into their vehicle modes and drove off.

"Guys!" Jack exclaimed as he and Raf ran over to the Autobots. Primrose looked around before she saw Paige laying on the glass, twitching slightly.

"Paige!" Primrose exclaimed and she hurried over to the girl. Paige slowly got up and hissed in pain as her back, legs and arms stung from the cuts the glass had given her.

Some shards of glass were digging into her back. Paige glared at Primrose and smacked her servo away. "Don't fucking touch me," she growled, her eyes glowing blue. Primrose stared at her shocked.

"The Cons have the Harvester!" Jack exclaimed. "And security has Miko!" Raf said.

"What!? I'm going in after her," Bulkhead said.

Optimus stopped him. "Bulkhead, Miko might be detained, but she is safe from harm," he said.

◊◊◊◊

Miko and the security guard were back in his office. Miko just sat there looking bored as he tapped his fingers on his desk and watched her with a look that clearly said, 'I'm not amused but not angry at you'. After escorting Miko to the security room, he locked her inside and went back on his search, finding the front of the museum destroyed.

"Look, kid. I don't know how you got in here but if you had anything to do with what happened to the front of the museum, then you should know that the authorities are on their way." The security guard told Miko. "It'd go a whole lot easier for you if you just told me what happened and if you saw anything out front." He said, trying to get her to talk.

"I was doing research for my history report. I just lost track of time and got trapped in here after closing." Miko lied very convincingly. "I was just looking for a way out when I heard the explosion as well."

The security guard gave Miko a questioning look. "Well, seeing as it might be a while before the police get here, why don't you tell what your history report is all about?" The security guard asked with a smug smirk. "I'd love to know."

"Uh..." Miko trailed off as she tried to think of what to say.

◊◊◊◊

Optimus was issuing his next commands. "In all likelihood, Starscream will use the Energon Harvester to gather as much Energon as quickly as he can on the planet's un-mineable Energon deposits." He said as the team was going to have to divide to cover the different areas. "Approach with extreme caution. Starscream will not hesitate to use the Harvester on anyone of us."

Bumblebee and Jazz were sent to a forest area, Primrose, Arcee and Nightwalker went to a desert area, and WhiteRain and Prowl were sent to a national park. Bulkhead was about to go through but was stopped by Optimus. "Bulkhead, it is best you remain here." Optimus stated.

"So I can bust Miko out of the museum?" The wrecker asked eagerly.

"So you can help Ratchet," Optimus corrected, "you may be Miko's guardian, but she requires human assistance. Agent Fowler is her best option." With that, Optimus transformed into his vehicle form and drove through the ground bridge.

Bulkhead looked over at Paige who sat in the corner, her back to them. Her wounds had miraculously healed on their own but some were too deep so Jack had wrapped her leg and arms in gauze.

Everyone knew she was angry so they left her alone for right now.

"You've reach Special Agent William Fowler. I am current on an intensive training retreat and unavailable until Tuesday." Fowler's recording played.

Raf was trying to contact Fowler. "Still no answer." He said to Bulkhead.

Bulkhead was furious. "Fowler's lounging around some poolside cabana. Ragh!" He growled before he pounded his fist down on the nearest object...which happened to be one of Ratchet's tools.

"Bulkhead, I NEED THAT!" Ratchet shouted angrily.

"We can free Miko, if we just get that Harvester back to the museum." Bulkhead said.

"So the Decepticons can steal it again?" Ratchet questioned.

Bulkhead realized the stupidity of the suggestion and grabbed his helm. "I am so dumb!" He shouted to himself.

"So how are we going to help Miko?" Jack asked Ratchet.

"By returning this replica to the museum." Ratchet answered as he held up an almost compete replica of the Harvester. "The construction of which would be going a whole lot faster if Bulkhead hadn't just mangled my FRAME WELDER!"

"We're already trespassers and thieves. Why not add forgery to the list?" Jack said.

Bulkhead sighed. "I wish I never took Miko to the..." He started to say when he suddenly remembered something. "The painting of the Harvester isn't the only thing we've found in those Ruins."

"I'm sorry?" Ratchet asked in confusion.

"Starscream's not dumb." Bulkhead stated as he explained his thought to Ratchet. "No matter what kind of tool he has he's going to take the easier way out."

◊◊◊◊

At the ruins, Starscream, Knockout, Breakdown, Echo and Comet were there with some Decepticon miners.

The miners were digging out energon. "Why move mountains now when we have a mother lode of Energon right here for the taking?" Starscream said as he held up the Energon Harvester in his hand. "Courtesy of this gift from ancient Autobots."

"Uh...actually Commander Starscream, it was a gift from Breakdown and myself." Knockout corrected as he and Breakdown stood behind Starscream.

Echo and Comet stood on the sides. Comet and Echo were glaring at the Seeker.

Starscream just sighed in frustration and aimed the Harvester at the both of them, causing them to cringe in fear. Starscream fired the Harvester towards them but instead of hitting them, the beam it a Vehicon that stood guard.

The Harvester opened slightly and the Energon from the Vehicon was being drained. He moaned and yelped in pain as he felt his life force being sucked out of him and flow into the harvester. Starscream watched in sick fascination. With a few choked gasps and pleas for mercy, the Decepticon drone had fallen face first onto the dirt-and-stone-composed ground below, dead. Knockout and Breakdown stared in horror. The Harvester closed when its job was over.

"All that Energon in such a tiny vessel." Starscream said as he admired the Harvester's work.

"Those ancient Autobots never missed a trick, Commander Starscream," Knockout said. Starscream glared at them and he aimed the Harvester at them, making them flinch back.

Echo took out her bow and arrow and Comet got between Starscream, the Harvester, Knockout and Breakdown, glaring up at Starscream defiantly.

Starscream sneered at the young Decepticon medic. "I don't know why Megatron or even Ember ever recruited you," he hissed, "you're just some pet for Megatron."

Comet froze before he moved forward to punch Starscream only for Breakdown to quickly grab onto him.

Unbeknownst to them, Bulkhead had snuck into the ruins and he had witnessed everything. He slid down the hill and silently ran towards the Decepticons. His actions went unnoticed until he stepped on a pot.

Knockout, Breakdown, Echo and Comet turned to the Autobot. "Oh scrap," Bulkhead cursed.

Echo smirked as she unveiled her raven claws, "back for more hm?"

Breakdown looked at Comet firmly, "stay here." He, Echo and Knockout walked towards Bulkhead before the three charged at him.

Bulkhead looked at them, startled. To his right, Knockout was charging at him, spinning the electric staff, on his left, Breakdown was running at him with his hammer out and in front, Echo was charging at Bulkhead, her raven claws unsheathed and sharp.

Bulkhead ducked, and Breakdown ended up hitting Knockout with his hammer, sending Knockout flying back once again and this time, he dropped the energon staff.

Echo accidentally whacked Breakdown away with her claws, sending the Decepticon flying back with a shout.

Bulkhead grabbed the energon staff and he electrocuted Echo with it. The femme fell back with a pained grunt, twitching slightly.

Bulkhead dropped the staff and he turned around. Starscream activated the Energon Harvester and the beam hit Bulkhead square in the chest. The former Wrecker was suddenly moaning and gasping as he felt the Energon being sucked from his body. He fell over onto his servos and knees.

Starscream sneered evilly as he watched the Energon being sucked out of Bulkhead. "You're a big one. This could take a while." He sneered.

Comet widened his optics and he froze. "You'll do amazing things for yourself and for your sister," his Sire's words echoed through his helm, "and you'll always be my son. No matter what happens."

Comet glared at Starscream before he slammed into Starscream, grabbing his wings and tugging sharply. Starscream shouted and he elbowed Comet in the faceplate.

Comet grunted but he didn't let go. Starscream whacked the other Decepticon away and glared at him. "YOU LITTLE BRAT!" He screeched.

Comet glared up at Starscream defiantly, "go... to the Pit."

Starscream widened his optics in fury and he aimed the Harvester at Comet who froze in fear. He shifted his gaze towards Bulkhead who walked towards Starscream.

The Seeker turned around only for the Wrecker to grab the Harvester into his fist. "What are you doing!?" Starscream gasped, his optics widening.

"What I do best. Breaking things," Bulkhead said before he used his other fist and punched Starscream hard in the faceplates, sending the Seeker flying back into a nearby boulder.

Bulkhead took the Harvester and crushed it in his hand. This caused the Harvester to start shooting out sparks, as it was short-circuiting. Seeing the sparks, Bulkhead pulled his servo back and chucked the device into the air. Moments later, the Harvester exploded, releasing a wave of Energon that quickly dissolved into nothing.

Bulkhead wobbled a bit before he fell backwards onto the ground. He was exhausted from the amount of Energon drained from his body by the Harvester.

Knockout and Breakdown had recovered from Bulkhead's onslaught and now stood over the collapsed Autobot. "He's a glutton for punishment." Knockout commented with a sinister smirk.

Before they could do anything, a GroundBridge vortex opened. The rest of the member of Team Prime emerged and immediately started firing their guns at the Decepticons.

Comet stood behind Breakdown who shielded his face with his arm. "Fight?" He asked his partner.

"Mmm, drive." Knockout corrected, as they were seriously outgunned.

The three transformed and drove out of the area as fast as they could. Echo transformed into her aerial mode and flew up into the air. Starscream glared towards the Autobots before he transformed and flew after Echo.

The Autobots all surrounded Bulkhead who looked up at his friends and smiled. "Hey." He said weakly.

◊◊◊◊

Miko was concluding her report. "And of course there's the principles of Deus ex Machina, uh the God of Machines." She stated. "It's that part in Greek storytelling where a character appears out of the blue to make everything right."

"That so young lady?" The guard asked. "I'm pretty sure the police would be interested to hear about your History report."

There was a knock on the door before it was swung open, revealing Agent Fowler. Fowler took a quick glance around the room as he entered and pulled out his badge to show the guard. "Special Agent William Fowler," Fowler introduced himself as he flashed his badge for the guard. "The stolen property has been located and restored in museum premises."

The guard was suspicious of the federal agent's claim but when he turned to the screen and saw the orb was there, looked at the screen and the orb was back on the statue. The guard had spotted the orb missing earlier and that it was still on the screen when he returned. Figuring that someone had hacked the computer systems, he turned off the screen and ran the security system check. The screen automatically came back on when the scan was complete while Miko was giving her report but the guard hadn't noticed until just now. The golden orb, unbeknownst to the guard, was actually the replica that Ratchet had constructed.

Fowler walked over to Miko. "The girl comes with me." He stated as he pulled Miko up to her feet. "I'll make sure she gets home safely." He then reached into his jacket and pulled out Miko's cellphone. "You dropped your cell phone, miss." Fowler told her as he gave it back before ushering towards the door. "Found it on the floor right next to your History report." He said the last part loud enough to make sure the guard had heard him.

Miko gasped with surprise as Bulkhead pulled up to the curb. She turned to Agent Fowler. "Off you go." Fowler said as Miko gave him a thumbs-up.

She hopped in the passenger side. "Good timing, Bulk." Miko complimented as she hoped into her friend's vehicle mode and bulked up. "I was running out of history factoids. Stuff I didn't know I knew."

"Looks like you're smarter than you let on." Bulkhead complimented.

"Under pressure." Miko added.

"Me too." Bulkhead agreed with a chuckle.

He then started to drive out of the parking lot in order to head back to Base. "I can't wait to finish my History report!" Miko said excitedly. "I'm gonna write all about how the Autobots interacted with ancient civilization!"

"Uh, I'm not so sure that'll get you into college, Miko." Bulkhead stated nervously.

◊◊◊◊

On the warship, in the control bridge, Comet stood by Echo nervously on the side, and Knockout and Breakdown stood on the other.

"So Bulkhead destroyed the Harvester," Ember said calmly, her back to Starscream. The Seeker's wings twitched, "yes."

"I do not see why you're the one who sounds angry," Ember said, turning to him, her optics narrowed.

"Because these four left a battle that started!" Starscream snapped angrily. "They left a battle that they knew they would not win," Ember said darkly, "while you, Starscream, had tried to turn the Harvester against them. I am beginning to lose my patience with you, Seeker."

Starscream widened his optics slightly. "M-Mistress Ember, it wasn't-" Comet started to speak but Ember held her servo up to silence him.

"Get out," Ember growled at Starscream, her servos crackling with fire. Starscream flinched before he stormed out of the control bridge.

"You knew Starscream would fail the mission?" Knockout asked as Ember turned to the screens.

"Yes I did," she said, "but I also knew that he would not only fail... but he would be distracted," she turned to Comet and Echo, her gaze directed at Comet, "by the Autobot medic's son."

Echo looked to Comet with a shocked look. Knockout and Breakdown widened their optics slightly as they stared at Comet who shrunk back.

"H-how did you... how did you know?" Comet asked Ember, shaking slightly.

"You have his optics," Ember said, "and it doesn't take a genius, little one. But from now on, you will stay here and tend to our lord and master while he is in stasis." She looked to Echo, "and no one is sneaking him out."

Echo's wings twitched slightly, startled and she lowered her helm. "Yes, Mistress Ember," she and Comet said.

Ember looked at Knockout, "everyone except Knockout is dismissed."

Breakdown, Echo and Comet nodded and they walked out of the control bridge.

When the doors closed, Knockout walked up to Ember. "The only ones who know you are a Predacon are Megatron and I," he said.

"I know," she said quietly, "but that is not the only thing that is bothering me."

"Is it Optimus, Primrose and Bumblebee?" Knockout asked quietly. Ember lowered her helm, "it is wrong of me to show emotion towards those I have cared for, Knockout."
