Chapter 8 ~ A Uniform Fit For A Queen
As they settled into their luxurious limousine, Abi, Austin, and Bryson exchanged exhausted glances. The first day at Skyview Academy had been eventful, to say the least.
Upon arriving home, their mother, Rachel, greeted them warmly. "Hey, kids! How was your first day?"
Abi, Austin, and Bryson took turns recounting their experiences, leaving out no details.
Rachel listened attentively, her expression shifting from curiosity to concern.
"And then, Cora's crew cornered me," Abi said, "but I handled them."
Austin chimed in, "Yeah, sis showed them who's boss!"
Bryson added, "And Cora's got a crush on Austin."
Rachel's eyebrows rose. "That's quite a first day. I'm proud of you for standing up for yourself, Abi."
Austin interjected, "Yeah, Mom, Abi was amazing!"
Bryson nodded. "Totally awesome."
Rachel's smile faltered. "However, violence isn't the answer. You must learn to navigate conflicts peacefully."
Just then, their father, John, walked into the room. "What's going on?"
Rachel summarized the events, concluding with, "Abi got into a fight."
John's expression turned thoughtful. "Ah, I see. Well, I'm proud of my baby for teaching those bullies a lesson."
Rachel countered, "John, our daughter attends an elite school. She must learn to conduct herself with grace and poise."
John chuckled. "I understand, dear, but sometimes you have to stand up for yourself. Abi did what was necessary."
Abi smiled, grateful for her father's support. "Thanks, Dad."
John continued, "By the way, your new school uniforms – the blue ones – will arrive soon. Make sure to check the fit."
Abi's eyes lit up. "Thanks, Dad! I'll try it on immediately."
Rachel intervened, "Alright, kids, time to get settled. You've had a long day."
As they headed to their rooms, Bryson whispered to Abi, "You're going to be the queen of Skyview Academy soon ."
Abi grinned. Yea soon "Shh, don't let Mom hear you."
Their bedrooms welcomed them with cozy warmth, a sanctuary from the day's excitement.
As they stepped into their lavish mansion, the siblings dispersed to their respective rooms, eager to unwind after the eventful first day.
Abi settled into her plush bedroom, dropping her bag onto the floor. She flopped onto her bed, letting out a contented sigh.
Austin retreated to his room, shutting the door behind him. He pulled out his phone and dialed Sophie's number.
"Hey, beautiful," Austin said, smiling as Sophie's voice filled the line.
Bryson disappeared into his room, shedding his blazer and tossing it onto his bed. He began to research more information about Phoenix Corporation's.
Downstairs, Rachel entered the kitchen, where Mrs Smith was preparing a dinner.
"How was the children's first days?" Mrs Smith inquired.
Rachel smiled. "Eventful, as expected. Abi already made a statement."
Mrs Smith raised an eyebrow. "Oh? What happened?"
Rachel leaned against the counter. "Abi stood up to Cora Jenkins. I'm proud of her, but worried about potential repercussions."
Mrs Smith nodded sympathetically.
"Those elite schools can be challenging.
Rachel summarized the events, concluding with, "Abi handled herself impressively."
Meanwhile, Austin continued his conversation with Sophie.
"Hey, baby!" Sophie exclaimed.
Austin's heart skipped a beat. "Hey beautiful! Miss you so much."
Sophie's eyes widened as she took in Austin's lavish room. "Wow, this is your room? It's stunning! You guys are really rich, huh?"
Austin chuckled. "Yeah, my parents done well for us."
Sophie's expression turned serious. "When am I going to see you again?"
Austin's voice softened. "Soon, Sophie. I promise. We'll make time."
Sophie's brow furrowed. "And promise me you won't cheat on me while I'm not there?"
Austin's face contorted in mock offense. "Of course not! I love you, Sophie. Only you."
Sophie's smile returned. "I love you too, Austin. Don't worry, we'll see each other soon."
They chatted for hours, reminiscing about old times and sharing laughter.
As the call ended, Austin felt a pang of longing. He couldn't wait to reunite with Sophie.
Meanwhile, Sophie smiled to herself, feeling grateful for Austin's love and commitment. But for some reason she doesn't really like him much.
"Rachel walked into the dining area, where the family's intercom system sat on the sleek console table.
She picked up the receiver and dialed the code to broadcast her voice to all rooms.
"Kids, dinner is ready! Please come downstairs," Rachel's voice echoed through the mansion.
In their respective rooms, Abi, Austin, and Bryson heard their mother's summons.
Abi placed her book aside, swung her legs over the bed, and stood up.
Austin wrapped up his call with Sophie, promising to catch up later.
Bryson minimized his research on Phoenix Corporation, intrigued but hungry.
As they converged downstairs, the aroma of roasted chicken and steamed vegetables wafted through the air.
"Smells delicious, Mom!" Abi said, entering the dining room.
"Thanks, sweetie!" Rachel smiled.
Austin and Bryson took their seats, exchanging tired grins.
John joined them, his eyes twinkling. "So, how was everyone's day? Any stories to share?"
The dinner conversation flowed effortlessly, filled with laughter and stories.
As they savored their meal, the Thompson family felt grateful for this moment of togetherness.
As they enjoyed their dinner, the doorbell rang. Miss Smith, their housekeeper, answered it and brought in a package.

John beamed with pride. "My baby's growing up."
Abi blushed, overwhelmed by the attention.
