friendships.
She lifted herself from the sandbox as she noticed her mother signaling for her to walk over. She dusted her clothes off as she ran beside her. Her mother kneeled a bit down to her level.
"Mommy is going now, be good okay? Promise me, you'll make friends." Her mother signed at her. Hinata smiled at her as she gave her a thumbs up.
"That's my girl, I'll pick you up later." She patted her head before Hinata held the teacher's hand.
The teacher walked with her as he signed to her the bit of sign language he knew.
"You'll like it here, everyone is really nice." He reassured her.
1.2.3. This is flight 304, preparing for take off. Hinata held her ear as she had an earpiece on.
I have arrived on a mysterious planet, I'm currently taking my first steps to discover any sort of life. Hinata said to the earpiece as her feet touched the red rocky ground under her.
Suddenly the clouds reappeared and so did the school. In front of them was a small light blue classroom with long wooden cubbies attached to the wall. Each one with a different name on it. All except for the last one. Around were many small tables and a small play center.
"Everyone please go to your seats." The teacher said as Hinata stood behind him.
"Hinata-chan, there's no need to be shy. Come on, introduce yourself." The teacher removed himself revealing the small pale girl from behind him.
She sighed and walked to the chalk board behind her and lifted the chalk to the tip of the board while spelling out:
こんにちは、私の名前は日向ひなたです。私はろう者ですが、私たちが友達であることを止めないことを願っています。(Hello, my name is Hinata Hyuga. I am deaf but I hope that doesn't stop us from becoming friends.)
For a six year old, it was impressive for her to already have learned how to write full words and sentences.
"What's deaf?" A small blonde boy tilted his head.
"Wait does that mean you're...dead?! A g-ghost?!" He then said with a scared expression.
"Baka! That means she can't hear or talk." The small pinkette hit the blonde boy.
"Hinata-chan, please take a seat next to.." The teacher surveyed the room until he reached the empty chair next to the his younger brother.
"Sasuke-kun, please raise your hand." He said as his younger brother gave him an annoyed expression but cooperated.
As Hinata noticed she walked towards her new seat and smiled at the boy she would be sitting next too. He rolled his eyes as he laid his head down. She handed him a small paper. I hope we can be friends. It read but the boy simply ignored it. A man with silver hair appeared at the door of the classroom.
"Itachi, may I speak with you?" He said.
"Yes, class please make Hinata-chan feel welcome." The teacher said as he stepped outside.
Immediately the pinkette arose from her seat and walked over to Hinata along with a girl with blonde hair and one with brown.
"Hinata-chan, Hi!" The blonde girl waved.
Hinata smiled at them.
"I'm Sakura, this is Ino and this is TenTen." Sakura said as Hinata quickly took out her small tablet: Could you please write that down? She wrote as she turned it over to them.
"Hai!" TenTen wrote their names down as Hinata observed them.
"Can you read lips?" Sakura questioned as Hinata nodded quickly.
"Hai! We'll talk slower then!" Ino smiled.
Suddenly the teacher walked back into the classroom and was pleased to see the girls talking to her.
"Everyone, please take your seats. Class is starting." Itachi said which caused the kids to look up.
"We'll talk more during lunch!" Sakura said as she waved at her before returning to her seat.
Immediately the teacher began to start his lesson on writing full sentences and letters but the way he was talking was too fast for her. Hinata tried to look over at the notes Sasuke was taking but he looked up at her with a weird expression then look down at her blank paper. He sighed before moving his notebook closer so she could see it fully. She thanked him by writing it on the top corner of her paper.
The bell suddenly rang which indicated lunch time.
"Class, would you like to have to lunch inside or outside?" The teacher announced as everyone immediately agreed to outside.
"Hinata-chan, are you ready?" Sakura said holding her small hand as she stopped.
"What's wrong?" Ino said confused.
Hinata took out her tablet quickly: I'll catch up, I'm looking for my bento.
"We can help you!" The girls said in unison.
She bowed as a thank you while the girls smiled and went to go look for it outside of the classroom.
Immediately the crime scene arose.
Day 21, still no sign of the bento. What could have happened to it? I don't know. What was in it? Goods. Hinata put her hands in her trench coat as she looked around for clues. Quickly, she spotted the small lavender cloth peering out from under her jacket in the cubbie.
"Detective Hinata, good work." The officer said through the mic.
The room became a classroom again as Hinata picked her bento and went to go look for her friends. While running through the halls she turned around the corner and bumped into a girl knocking her glasses off to the floor.
She quickly bowed to her knees as the girl picked up her glasses and readjusted them.
"Watch where you're going!" She quickly kicked Hinata's head which caused her to look up and see a troll with red hair.
"Oh it's you. Don't think just because you're special I'll treat you differently. Freak!" She yelled.
Immediately she was shoved as Sakura stood in front of Hinata and Ino and TenTen along with her.
"Karin-chan! Don't bully Hinata!" Sakura laid her hands out in front as her cape flowed with the wind but then disappeared when the troll spoke again.
"Whatever." She stomped away.
"Are you okay, Hinata-chan?" Sakura bent down to her level.
Hinata smiled at her as they got up together and all held hands walking out. Once they sat down under a Sakura tree they placed their bentos and ate silently. As she bought the small cinnamon roll to her mouth she noticed the same boy from earlier sitting under a tree all by himself.
She takes out her tablet and writes out to them.
Why is he by himself? It reads as the girls look at each other.
"I don't know he's always weird and doesn't pay attention to anyone other himself. He's Sensei's younger brother though." Sakura said.
I see. Hinata lifts herself up and motions the girls to come along.
No one deserves to be alone. She wrote out as they smiled and gathered their bentos to walk over to him.
"Hi, Sasuke-kun." TenTen said as the boy looked up to them.
"Hinata here said you looked lonely and wanted to give you some company!" Ino hugged Hinata.
Do you mind if we sit and eat with you? Hinata wrote out.
"Look I don't need friends and I'll especially never hang out with a mute!" He yelled loud enough which caused the other children to look at him with disgusted faces.
The small boy was greeted by a punch from our little fighter, Sakura.
"Why are you so mean to Hinata-chan? She was trying to be nice!" Sakura bought her fists to the side.
"Let's go, Hina-chan!" Ino took her by her hand and they walked away as Itachi-Sensei ran up to his brother.
"What am I going to do with you?" He sighed.
2:00 pm
The school day had ended as Hinata was the second to last to leave. She started at the boy as he glared at her back which caused her to look away. Suddenly the small blonde boy appeared wrapping his arm around his friend's shoulder.
"I'm sorry about Sasuke's actions, trust me he's nicer than you think he is." The blonde boy smiled which made her heart beat.
It's okay! Hinata wrote out.
"My name is Naruto Uzumaki, if you need anything!" He smiled at her but soon she felt a small tap on her shoulder as she saw her mother's eyes staring back at her. Immediately hugging her.
"Did she do good?" Her mother asked the teacher.
"One of the smartest kids I know!" Itachi patted her small head as they soon heard running as Naruto crossed his arms.
"I'm sorry I'm late!" The woman was out of breath as her rose red hair fell over her shoulders.
"Okaa-san! You're late again!" Naruto pouted.
"Well I'm here aren't I?" She laughed as Naruto hugged her.
"Well let's get going!" She grabbed his small hand as Naruto waved goodbye to Hinata.
"We should get going too." Hinata's mother smiled as she held her small hand and walked away.
"I'll definitely never hang out with a mute." Sasuke whispered as his brother got upset and took his small hand.
"Sasuke, let's go." They walked home.
"We're home!" Sasuke yelled into the house but then sighed.
Not like she'll respond anyways.
He walked further into the house and opened the door as he saw her knitting a scarf.
He tapped on her as she pricked her finger and then laughed at the sight of him. Hiding her bleeding hand behind her back.
He sighed once again before lifting his hands.
Mom, I'm home. He signed.
