Chapter Three

                                ♣
Small, cold hands jolted me awake. I jumped up to find the Electi standing infront of the couch and peering down at me.

"What do you want? And why are you in slacks?" I asked rubbing the sleep from my eyes.

"Aiden is here."

Who? Oh... Hot mentor guy.

What would he be doing at my dorm room?

"What for?" I asked.

"Training." she simply stated. I glanced up at the Hello Kitty clock above Lani's bed.

"When he said 'Training Begins Tomorrow Morning' I didn't know that he meant 4 fricking a.m!"

The brown-haired girl shrugged.

"Where is he?" I muttered.

She pointed towards the dark hallway.

Are you kidding me right now?

I got up from the dumb sofa (sulking like a clean pig) and headed to the bathroom. I pinned my hair up in a messy bun, freshened up a bit and went back into the room.

"Where are you going?" Lani asked groggily and yawned.

"Training." I grumbled.

"Well I'm glad I ain't you," she remarked.

"Whatever!" I gave her a finger and headed through the door with the Electi trailing behind.

The hallway was dark. Very dark and cold. Where the hell is this guy?

A hand grabbed the back of my neck. A surge of adrenaline coursed through my veins and I reacted immediately. I leaned over and kicked my foot back. The person released their hold as my foot collided with their chest. My eyes adjusted a bit to the darkness and I pushed the Electi behind me. I still couldn't see my attacker. A fist came into focus. I grabbed it but was rewarded by being shoved into the wall.

Hot breath brushed against my cheeks. I noted that the person had the aroma of cinnamon.

"Good, but not good enough Miss Cyzek. You get an F." a familiar voice whispered and released me. He removed his mask(which was actually a tam with holes to see through) from his face. Aiden. His hair was messy but it looked good anyways.

"That was totally unfair," I grumbled,"You attacked me in the dark."

"You must be prepared for anything Miss Cyzek. Do you think the Dark Clan cares about trivial things like the dark? They live for the dark. Which is why you must know your way around that darkness. That is why this training is important."

Ok ok John the Baptist.

Light flooded the hallway and I had to cover my eyes and squint a million times for them to adjust.

He was in full black. A black track shorts, a black tshirt which showed off his well-defined chest and a black sneakers. I didn't know if it was an upgrade or a downgrade from his suit and tie but he still looked steaming hot to me.

He began to run down the hallway without looking back.

"Come on!" The Electi urged as she began to run also.

By the time I exited the building, my legs were wobbly and my breathing was ragged.

Thankfully, the running insulated my body so I was no longer bothered by the cold. Aiden and Cassia stood near the square, obviously waiting on me. I walked over to where they were.

"I thought we were going to the training room."

"Patience Miss Cyzek... We must jog first."

"Jog?" I snorted.

He ignored me and started to run.

Seriously?

Without much choice really, I ran behind him. I didn't want to get in any form of trouble or else the Chancellor would have my head on a stake.

We came upon the main gate where four watchers stood abreast each other.

"Sir Sage! Madam Electi. Miss Cyzek." They greeted and bowed. I watched as they opened the gate.

It was a magical process really. Each watcher had one of the four most dominant elements of nature: water, air, earth and fire. They each placed their palms on separate silver half-moon symbols that were engraved into the bricks surrounding the tall, steel gate. A surge of their powers seeped into the silver engravements. The silver symbols alighted and a clicking sound was heard, followed by a series of screeches, light bangings, hissings etc.

Great, a gate which sounds like noise people make while having sex.

Aiden glanced over at me.

Did he just smile?

I doubted it highly. Plus why would he? I began to believe that smiling wasn't a part of his facial expressions' list.

The steel gate slowly parted. Aiden thanked the watchers and we stepped out onto the dirt road. It was still dark out and the shadows of the trees created scary and mysterious shapes.

"We are just going to run up there and back. Then we go to the TR."

The running left me breathless. I couldn't even catch up with the fragile girl infront of me. I occasionally stopped and gripped my knees to stop myself from keeling over.

"We'll have to do this every morning then." Aiden suggested to my horror as we headed to the TR.

The TR was very spacious. It wasn't brick like the rest of the school. It had glass ceilings which made the few stars that were left in the sky visible. The sky was becoming a pale orange. The room had punching bags, weight lifters, mats, ropes hanging from the ceiling and all other stuff that could sprain your muscles.

Aiden closed the door behind us and went to a nearby table. His shirt was stained with sweat and his dark hair stuck to the back of his neck, though a few rebel strands hung before his eyes.

He turned around to face me directly and I could see that he had wrapped his hands with white tape. He threw a bottle of water towards me and gave one to the Electi who was squatting on the shiny floor.

"This rule applies to you and I Miss Cyzek... No use of abilities when in combat... We haven't gotten to that aspect yet."

The bottle flew from my hands as I was about to drink. A few drops splashed towards the Electi but she slowed them in mid air. I watched in awe as the droplets froze and fell to the floor in pings.

What tha...

Aiden charged towards me.

I scurried backwards but caught his foot before it could collide with the side of my head. He did a flip and I had to let go before he broke my hand.

Okay Rambo calm the hell down!

He was inches away from me. He punched at my face but I missed it by seconds and kicked him in the side. He didn't even flinch. All I got was a hard land on my stomach as he flipped me over.

I groaned as my face met the hard floor.

Did something just crack?

"You've got to earn that water! Get up!" He shouted.

Fuc-

He knocked me over as soon as I got up.

Ok he's good...

I groaned again as I painfully scrambled to my feet.

"And they say you are good at combat? You are-"

I landed a hard kick in his face. It leaned to one side from the impact.

Yeah that'll show you!

How dare him degrade my fighting skills! Asshole!

I charged towards him in fury. To my horror, he avoided every single blow. He moved with an infuriating grace with his hands folded behind him. Frustration coursed through me.

There I was panting like crazy and he wasn't even breaking a damn sweat. I soon pinned him against the wall. His fist almost came in contact with my face but I arched my neck and spine so only my waist was visible.

Ha!

My victory was short lived. He raised his ankle and kicked the center of my back.

The pain was horrible but I couldn't go down without taking him with me. I hooked one of my foot around his waist as I fell and he fell hard ontop of me.

A mass of my loose hair was matted to my face. He lifted his hands to move it and his eyes softened. His strangely soft hands was warm against my skin and his touch set every nerve in my body on fire. I wondered what those hands would feel like against my...

His eyes returned to its cold state and he quickly got up.

"Not bad Miss Cyzek. You still get an F. Your movements are weak and not as agile as I would like. You didn't earn that water. You're dismissed."

I was still on the ground panting as I stretched my hands out for him to pull me up. He gripped my hands and I took him by surprise when I wrapped both legs around his waist and brought him down on the ground, then I rolled over so I was ontop of him. He was breathing heavily and I could see a small smile playing on his thin lips. I leaned down to whisper into his ears. He still had that sweet cinnamon scent mixed with his manly musk.

"No. You're dismissed."
