Chapter Four

                                ♣
"No way!" Lani gasped in disbelief when I recounted what happened hours later.

It was late evening and I was sitting on my bed with my civics assignment scattered infront of me. The Electi girl was with some officials or something like that and was promised to be back soon. After the battle with the Aiden guy, the day had been uneventful except for persons piling around me and asking what it was like to be a  guardian (temporary) of the Electi.

What was it like really? I mean she was okay for a kid. She didn't speak much, only with her mentor which was quite fine by me.

I learnt of her abilities though. She could manipulate water,as exhibited in the TR. Like myself, she could see auras but it wasn't as developed as mine. Telekinetic, photokinetic(ability to control light) and telepathy were among the many abilities she possessed, although some were not fully developed. She was a master at telekinesis like myself but her telepathy wasn't as on point as it should've been. Which is why she needed the trainings.

I mean I expected the experience to be a lot worse, but the girl was ok, I couldn't argue with that.

"Yup!" I assured Lani then cringed. My back was killing me.

Damn you Aiden.

There was a light knock on the door. I sighed and jumped off the bed to open it.

"Miss Cyzek," Aiden greeted. Cassia smiled and left us standing in the hallway.

"Mr.Sage." I matched his tone.

He was back to his suit and tie.

"How are you?" He asked.

Oh you know, I have a back ache that is killing me, a couple bruises here and there administered by your fine ass but i'll live, I thought.

I didn't tell him that though.

"I'm fine."

"Well that's good to know Miss Cyzek..."

Stop calling me that, I wanted to say. It made me feel older than I actually was. Old things gave me the creeps. Take Lani's mom for instance.

"I hope you have a good night's rest."

He proceeded to walk away but stopped in his tracks.

"Oh, I almost forgot. Here you go." he took a bottle of water from a small pouch I hadn't noticed and handed it to me.

I couldn't help the silly grin that erupted on my face when I closed the door behind me. I even fell asleep with the stupid grin plastered across my face.

Somwhere between Channing Tatum grabbing my ass and Zac Efron pouring oil over my naked body, a horrid scream jolted me awake.

I almost fell out of the itchy couch.

"Electi kid?"

She was sitting up on the bed with her knees drawn up to her chin, her green eyes wide with fear and her small body rocking back and forth.

I went to sit on the bed beside her. She was just staring at the wall. Beads of sweat were rolling off her forehead.

"Kid?" I reiterated.

"Aiden," she whispered, it was barely audible.

Her eyes grew wider and the light bulb in our room flickered on and off.

She began to tremble and the room seemed to tremble with her. The books from Lani's shelf fell onto the floor.

"Cassia..." I warned, hoping she wouldn't shake my glass vase off the wall with her madness.

Lani woke up with a look of bewilderment in her eyes.

"Aiden," the tiny girl whispered again.

The door bursted open and Lani screamed.

Thankfully it was Aiden. He ran over to the bed and pulled the kid into a hug. He stroked her brown hair but said nothing.

The shaking in the room ceased.

I sat awkwardly beside the two as they hugged in silence. I could hear  Cassia's soft sobs.

Lani was looking at me but I shrugged. I didn't know what was happening either.

I don't know how long the mentor and the Electi sat there for until he gently rose from the bed. Cassia was fast asleep.

"What's wrong with her?" I asked as he made his way to the door.

"Nothing for you to worry about," he replied.

Really?

"I saw what happened and I think I deserve to know." I followed him into the hallway, leaving Lani to pick up the fallen books.

"Miss Cyzek," his back was turned to me,"This is none of your concern."

"I am her guardian too you know? I think I deserve to know what's wrong with her."

Especially since she almost wrecked my dwelling.

"Are you?" He whipped around, his eyes holding a fiery blue glare. I couldn't understand why.

"Miss Cyzek I think you made it pretty clear that you didn't want this responsibility. She will be out of your air in about three weeks so you have nothing to worry about."

The venom in his voice shocked me. Yes, I didn't want the responsibility at first but I honestly felt a need to protect the frail girl. Ish.

He walked away before I could answer but I ran behind him. He couldn't just say that and walk away.

"Miss Cyzek you should go back to your dorm room," he warned without looking back.

"Now you listen up Mr.Sage," I cried as I stepped out into the night. The cold was merciless.

He turned around to face me.

"I admit that I didn't want this. But I feel a need to protect her. I see now how fragile she is. She's not as bad as I thought she'd be. So don't you dare throw that in my face. I was chosen to protect her for a reason. I demand information, you are not in this alone anymore."

He looked at me for a long while.

I folded my hands across my chest as to try and provide a bit of warmth for my freezing body.

Isn't he cold?

He sighed, removed his jacket and handed it to me.

I took it reluctantly.

Mmm,snuggly

It had that same cinnamon scent.

"Let's walk Miss Cyzek."

I followed him.

"Cassia has been having nightmares for as long as I can remember. I'm one of two persons who can calm her down."

Oh.

"What are her nightmares about?" I asked out of curiousity. He stared down at me.

"Horrible things Miss Cyzek." he replied. His voice was distant.

"She tells you about them?"

"She doesn't have to," he replied, "I see them too."

He didn't elaborate and I didn't push it.

What did he mean though?

"You kicked my butt today," I changed the subject.

He gave me a small smile. A small one but it was still progress from his act-too-old-for-his-age demeanor.

"You kicked mine in the end too."

I laughed.

"I am guessing you train a lot..."

"I have been training since I was 5 with my father."

"Oh where is he?"

"Back in my home town. Ever heard of Hollington?"

"Yea that town that has a large dairy farm."

"Yeah," he said and placed his hand casually in his pocket,"My dad owns it."

"No way!" I gasped.

He stopped walking and glanced up at the star-lit sky before looking over at me. We were near to the gardens.

"Yes way Miss Cyzek" he said but his voice was kind.

"I can't imagine you milking cows." I tell him truthfully as I pull the jacket tighter around my body.

Though I would love to see you without a shirt.

"I can't imagine myself doing a lot of things," his voice was strange when he said that, " I think its time you got back Miss Cyzek," he told me.

"Please call me Aeja" I groaned.

"Very well,Aeja." His tongue caressed my name and I found myself staring at his lips.

"Come," he urged as he turned to face the direction of my dorm "You have training in a few hours."

I groaned dramatically but his smile was evident.

***Please remember to press that tiny star at the bottom of your screen. Thank you! :)***

Qn: What do you think of Aiden?

Confession: Am I the only one who can only read a book when the screen is dark? Lolz I hope I'm not the only weirdo.
