It didn't take long for them to be called back to Chief Threedle's office. Chief Threedle, a woman of about Aylani's age with short wavy black hair walked in and sat down in front of them, opened her notepad and looked up at the nervous couple with a smile. Masty gripped Aylani's hand and looked at the officer nervously as she began to speak, addressing the couple directly. "Ms. Hanson, Officer Kane tells me that this gentleman with you has a pretty incredible story to tell. Sir can we start with your name?"
"My name is Masty Callaghan ma'am, and i've got quite the story to tell you, I hope you've got a sharp pencil."
About an hour later the couple sat back in exhaustion from having told the story over and over and answering numerous questions, the chief told the couple that she believed them and that she had sent some officers to arrest Sycamore and free the boys as well.

"I've looked into Mr. Callaghan's case, and have sent some of our officers to arrest Mr. Sycamore for holding him and the boys hostage and also rescue the boys." the chief said, causing Masty to breathe a sigh of relief. "Oh thank goodness!" he exclaimed, as he hugged Aylani happily. "They're going to get him Aylani! They're going to arrest that no good man!" he cheered. and then without even giving her a chance to fully respond hugged Aylani was taken aback at first then slowly hugged him back. Once they'd pulled away she smiled at him.
"I'm just as relieved as you are Masty, you're finally free." Aylani said, and he hugged her again then the couple returned their attention to the chief of police. "Has there been any update on the progress?" Masty asked, without letting go of Aylani's hand.
The chief nodded, and faced the couple again with a slight smile on her face, "Why yes, Officer Kane just reported that they have Mr. Sycamore surrounded and have saved the boys as well." she said, causing Masty to breathe out a sigh of relief. "Thank the lord!" he exclaimed, then turned to Aylani, took her by the hand and together the couple thanked Chief Threedle for her help and left the station. As they were about to go their separate ways, Aylani turned to Masty. "So what happens now? Where will you go?" She asked, and he shrugged. "Well, most of my family is deceased but I've still got my sister to stay with. I can't thank you enough for saving me." He said, and she laughed softly. "You're welcome, I hope to see you again." She said, and Masty nodded before closing the distance between them and placing his lips on hers in a light kiss. When he pulled away, he smiled at her. "I hope to see you again too Aylani." He said, before giving her one last kiss, and a parting smile.
