Chapter 2: Aylani's Discovery

It was nearly dark out as Aylani walked up to the mansion, with Taylor safely off to spend the night with Grandma Poppy, she was here with her "Imaginary Date" in order to do some exploring. It was still somewhat hard to adjust from the death of Taylor's father six years ago, people kept urging her to start dating again. The whole point of the "Imaginary date" was to stop the badgering and to have an excuse to do a bit of investigating without having to explain what she was up to.

Clicking on her flashlight she quickly made her way up the mansion's front steps and quietly made her way over to the edge of the porch.  She walked around in the dark running her hand along the cold stone railing as she walked over to one end of the porch and closed her eyes listening to the sound of the ocean waves below. As she made her way back to the front steps her hand hit something protruding just slightly on the porch railing. She stopped, and shown her light on the railing and there she saw what she thought looked like a small switch of some sort inside the railing. She flicked the switch, and a section of the porch that a moment ago had just looked like a large doormat disappeared revealing a patch of empty space.

"What is this?" she mused aloud, as she looked down at the space before her. "It looks like some sort of trap-door," she thought as she approached it. "This must be the place where the Sycamores stored all their moonshine. Ah hah this has got to be the smugglers tunnel, well well, I always knew the Sycamores were bad news!"

"What's down there?" she thought as she cautiously lowered herself down into the inky darkness below the trap-door.  The bright light from her flashlight cast shadows on the rough walls of the tunnel, her eyes slowly adjusting to the darkness. A soft music, faint at first, seemed to echo from somewhere in front of her.  She paused to listen, the music gradually beginning to get louder as she came closer and closer to the source. she neared the source of the music she discovered that it was coming from behind a locked door. She tried to open it, the took the hair pin out of her hair and picked the lock, causing the door to open slowly with a slight squeak, but the music was just loud enough to cover the sound. There was a surprisingly large room with beautiful rugs and low lights. At the far side of the room was shiny black baby grand piano, and sitting in front of it with his back to the door was a man. His glossy black hair was drawn up in a ponytail, and his body seemed to sway to the music, as his fingers glided over the piano keys. "Nice piano playing." she said, which seemed to startle him, and he turned on the piano bench to look at her.

"How did you get in here?" the man asked, sounding a bit frightened. He turned around and she gasped. She couldn't believe her eyes, the incredibly handsome man with a concerned look on his face was Masty Callaghan. Thoughts built up in her mind, as they looked at each other, "Masty Callaghan!? What are you doing here?" she asked, and he smiled sadly. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you." he replied.
"Well, try me - I'm all ears, but shouldn't we get you out of here?!" Aylani said with sudden urgency in her voice. "How are we going to escape without Sycamore catching us?" Masty asked, as she pulled him to his feet and they tiptoed through the door. "I just came in here, and didn't see anyone, the only sound I heard was your music." she started to lead the way, when suddenly Masty stopped. "Masty c'mon, we need to go!" she hissed urgently, but shook his head sadly. "If I go, Sycamore will kill Martin and Thomas for sure."
"Wait a minute, Martin Hellman and Thomas Green are down here too?!" Aylani gasped. Masty nodded sadly, "Yes, and in danger of being killed by Sycamore if I leave." upon seeing Aylani's shocked reaction gave a small sigh. "We have to save the boys, or else there will be trouble." Masty pleaded, as he and Aylani made their way back through the tunnel towards the opening. " Well, where's Sycamore keeping them?" Aylani asked, as they were just about to go through the opening. "in there." Masty replied, pointing to what appeared to be a mirror.  Aylani looked at him in confusion, "They're in the mirror?" she asked, and he sighed in frustration. "No, they're trapped in the door that is disguised as a mirror."
