Chapter 20: Not So Bitter Reunions
Third Person POV
Danny was heading home after nightly patrol with Sam and Tucker, determined to make it home before his ten o'clock curfew. The past few months of his life had been crazy. He had dealt with an amulet that turned a girl he liked into a dragon, a crazy ghost bounty hunter that wanted him as one of his many 'pets', living technology and school bullies, not to mention a haunted locker with the spirit of a kid who had been bullied at Casper High for years. And it all led back to that fateful day at school where he battled a meat monster and decided to become a hero. His most recent adventure had involved a wish granting ghost named Desiree. During that event, Danny learned he could shoot ectoplasmic energy rays out of his hands. Needless to say, it had been a pretty awesome moment. If only it hadn't been overshadowed by Tucker wishing himself to be half ghost and almost leading to an inescapable fate. But in the end everything worked out for the better.
Now Danny's main concern was arriving home before he missed his curfew and got in trouble with his adoptive parents. He had already missed curfew almost every day for the past two weeks and he was currently on thin ice with them. As Danny made his way home on his electric scooter he smiled as he saw the large Fenton Works building come into sight. "Finally," he said, glancing at his watch to check the time and smiling as he saw the clock read 9:57, "One day I get home on time without any ghost detours making me miss my ten o'clock curfew." But apparently, Danny had spoken too soon as at that moment he felt a cold sensation in his chest and blue mist poured out of his mouth. Danny stopped his scooter and looked up at the sky to see three ghost vultures flying through the air. They phased in and out of houses, scaring people as they did. Danny sighed, "Or not. Going ghost!"
Danny drove his scooter behind a nearby van and called forth his ghost half. Once his transformation was complete Danny flew up into the sky and caught up with the old vultures, flying alongside them. He turned to the leader and quipped, "You fellas look lost. Um, any chance of you staying that way?"
The leader of the vultures kept his head forward and retorted, "Mind your own business, fancy pants ghost boy." The vultures then flew down towards a bus and phased inside. Confused, Danny followed after them and phased into the bus. He saw the three vultures each taking a seat on the bus.
Another one of the vultures sighed and turned to the leader, "Hey, we've been circling this town for hours. We could have been halfway to Florida by now. Ask for directions."
"I know where I'm going!" The leader insisted.
"You so do not, ask him!" Said the third vulture, pointing to Danny.
"Ask me what?" Danny asked irritated. The vultures stretched out their wings and took off, phasing through the roof of the bus with Danny close behind. The four ghosts regrouped in the air with the vultures sticking close together and Danny prepared for a battle.
The leader of the vultures sighed and slowly flew close to Danny, "We're on a search-and-destroy mission. Can you help us find and peck to death this guy here?" The vulture pulled out a picture of a young Jack Fenton and showed it to Danny.
"Jack?" Danny said confused.
"Ah-ha, see? I told you he'd know where he is." The second vulture said.
In response, Danny fired an ectoblast at the leader of the vultures. The leader quickly dodged the blast and shouted, "Nice try, kid. Get 'im, boys!" All three vultures charged at once at Danny, circling around him a high speeds.
"Give it your best shot, guys! I'm a whiz at dodgeball!" Danny quipped. The vultures stopped circling and flanked Danny on all sides. In unison, the all charged at the teen. Danny swiftly dodged the attack and the vultures crashed into one another. "Okay, technically it's "dodge-beak," but who cares?" Danny said, shrugging. The vultures quickly recovered from crashing into one another and charged at Danny once more. They were about to repeat their same attack and Danny avoided it, but the birds stopped before they crashed into each other. The white haired teen flew towards a clock tower and gasped as he noticed the time. "Agh. It's almost ten!"
The vultures chased Danny around the clock tower, and paused in front of it. The ghost teen phased through the back of the clock and came out the front, grabbing the leader vulture by its legs. "Hey!" The vulture cried.
"You know that old saying about a bird in the hand?" Danny questioned as he spun the bird around. While spinning he hit the other two vultures with the one in his hands, knocking them back. Danny then flung the lead vulture towards them, "Well neither do I!" He shouted as the birds began to fly away. "And don't go messing any windshields on your way out of town." He called after them. The torn picture of young Jack Fenton fell out of the lead vulture's grip and floated down to Danny who caught it in his open hands.
"I wonder why those guys were trying to waste Dad." Danny pondered aloud. Behind him, the clock tower chimed ten. The ghost teen flinched and turn to face the clock, "Oh no, Dad." He muttered as he flew back to where he had parked his scooter.
A few minutes later Danny arrived at Fenton Works. He parked his scooter beside the large building and ran up the steps. He opened the door as quietly as and felt himself pale as he saw Jack and Maddie waiting in the doorway for him. "You're late again, young man." Jack said sternly.
Danny lowered his head as he grumbled, "Oh poop." Just as he said that, bird poop landed on the back of Danny's head. He shivered as it dripped down his back and turned to see the ghost vultures snickering and flying away.
The two elder Fentons lead Danny into the living room and sat him down on the couch. Jazz was sitting in a chair in the room and peeked over the top of her book to look at her younger adoptive brother. Jack went back to tinkering with what he had been working on before Maddie made him come stand at the door and wait for Danny with her while Maddie stood in front of Danny.
"Danny, this is becoming a problem." Maddie said to the teen with crossed arms, "You're constantly late coming home..."
Jack peeked out from behind the machine he was working on to add, "You're shirking from your chores."
Maddie threw her arms up in the air, "Your grades are slipping."
"You're shirking from your chores." Jack said again, peeking out from behind the machine.
Danny looked over at the large man, "You already said chores." He stated.
"I know, but when you don't do 'em, I get stuck with them." Jack pouted as he peeked out once more.
Danny looked down at his lap and Maddie's stern look melted away to become one of concern. "Danny, what's going on?" She asked taking a step closer to the small teen.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Danny replied, doing his best to avoid looking up at the woman.
Maddie sighed, taking a seat on the couch beside the raven haired teen, "Look, I get it. We're not your real parents. But we're trying Danny." Maddie placed her hand on Danny's knee, "We're doing the best we can to be your parents, and that involves being strict about curfews sometimes. We just worry sweetie, that's all. I know that Jack and I can't really relate to what you're going through right now..." As she trailed off, Danny's arm that was resting on the couch's armrest went intangible and phased through the armrest causing the teen to nearly fall off the couch. Danny clutched his arm to his chest and silently sighed in relief when it returned to normal. He glanced at Maddie from the corner of his eye to see if she had noticed the change but she remained oblivious.
"More than you could ever realize." Danny mumbled, rubbing his now tangible arm.
Jazz closed her book and placed it on her lap, looking up at her parents, "That's your problem right there. Danny can't relate to you. If he is ever going to see you as parents you need to open up to him."
"Jazz." Danny said in a warning tone, but the older girl ignored him.
"Have you ever told him how you met? About your first date?" Jazz questioned. Jack stood up and walked in front of the machine he was working on, placing a hand on his chin as he began to think over his daughter's words. Maddie did the same.
Danny noticed this and became annoyed. "Jazz!" He warned again.
"Where you went to college?" Jazz finished.
"You know, Jasmine, that's a great idea!" Jack said triumphantly, a wide smile on his face.
"It is?" Jazz questioned.
"What is?" Asked Maddie, placing her hands on her hips as she looked to her husband.
Jack reached into his jumpsuit and pulled out a fancy looking invite. He held it up in the air and declared, "This is!" Jack pulled Maddie close to him as he looked to Jazz, "You can come with your mother and I to our college reunion."
"I... can?" Danny asked, sounding not to thrilled about the whole idea.
Jazz looked at the invite and exclaimed, "Wisconsin?!"
Jack's grin grew even wider as he tucked the invite back into his jumpsuit, "Sure! My old pal Vlad is throwing a huge shindig there. We'll take the RV so the whole family can go together." Jack walked over to Jazz's chair as he continued, "You can learn more about your mother's and my college days, and while we drive," Jack leaned in close to Jazz as he said, "I can blather on about ghosts!"
The invention Jack had been working on while Maddie scolded Danny suddenly dinged and rumbled to life. It shot green goo out of a hose that landed on Jazz's head. The teen glared angrily at nothing in particular. "Haha, it works!" Jack said, throwing his arms up in the air triumphantly, "I can't wait to blather on about that, too."
Danny sighed and sank back into the couch. So much for a relaxing weekend.
Normal Line Break here. Is anyone else getting a weird feeling of déjà vu? Meh, it's probably just me. Enjoy the rest of the chapter!
Almost two days spent cooped up in the Fenton Family Ghost Assault Vehicle, the Fentons arrived in Wisconsin and were just entering the last few miles of their journey. During the drive the two teens had learned that Jack's old friend was Vlad Masters who, according to Jazz, was named Affluence Magazine's "Billionaire of the Year." Jack had told them all that he and Vlad had been best friends in college. But one day Jack, Vlad and Maddie were testing out their newly invented ghost portal and it malfunctioned, blasting Vlad in the face. He was diagnosed with a case of ecto-acne, and spent years in a hospital. Jack hadn't spoken to him since that day. Though ever the optimist, Jack was convinced Vlad had forgiven him after all these years. Danny wasn't too convinced.
They finally arrived at an enormous castle, and the two teens jumped out of the RV the second the vehicle came to a stop. Maddie and Jack followed after them and the family made their way up the steps of the castle where they were greeted by none other than Vlad Masters himself. "Jack," the older man said in an emotionless greeting. His eyes immediately lit up once he saw Maddie, ",and Maddie! You've never looked lovelier, my dear." Smiling, Vlad ushered Maddie, Danny and Jazz inside. "Please, please, come in." He said.
Maddie, Jazz and Danny entered the masion with Vlad and Jack jumped into the doorway, "Vladdie, my man! It's good to--" The larger man shouted just as Vlad slammed the door in his face. A faint, "Hello? Hello?!" could be heard coming from the other side of the door.
As the others walked through Vlad's entrance hall, Jazz took notice of the decor. "What's with the green and gold? You're a billionaire! Surely you could afford an interior designer." She commented.
Danny retorted, "Jazz, hello? Football helmets, jerseys, cheeseheads? He's a Packers fanatic." In the month that Danny had been out of commission due to the accident, he had occupied himself by watching all kinds of old sports reruns. He had become quite knowledgeable in the sports world.
Once again, a faint "Hello?" could be heard just outside the door, but no one really paid any attention to it.
Vlad walked up behind Danny and placed a hand on the small teen's head, "Oh, "fanatic" is such a negative word." He said, lifting his hand from Danny's head, "But, yes."
Jazz raised an eyebrow, "I don't understand. You have billions of dollars! Instead of buying this stuff, why don't you just buy the team?" She asked.
"Because the Packers are owned by the city of Green Bay and they won't sell them to me!" Vlad said, obviously irritated. His gaze drifted to Maddie and the billionaire quickly regained his cool, "One of two things my wealth has not as of yet..." Vlad paused to let out a small chuckle, "been able to acquire." Maddie, completely unaware of Vlad's motives, gave him an innocent smile.
The two Fenton teens shared a look and Danny whispered to Jazz, "Is he hitting on Mom?"
"As long as he's got working toilets, and Mom says no, who cares?" Jazz said as she walked away, most likely to find one of those working toilets she spoke of.
Maddie shifted uncomfortably under Vlad's gaze. She swallowed, "I'd, uh..." Her eyes went to the door and she pointed to it, "better let Jack in." She quickly walked away leaving Danny and Vlad alone in the main entrance.
Danny noticed a signed football sitting on a pedestal. "Whoa, cool!" He shouted, walking over to the autographed ball.
Vlad smiled at the boy's comment, "Indeed," he said as he picked up the football, "This ball was autographed by the legendary Ray Nitschke himself." Vlad pressed the football close to his face, "It's my prized possession." Vlad removed the football from his face and took notice of Danny. It had just occurred to him that he had never heard that Maddie had a second child. And, judging by his appearance, he only looked to be a few years younger than Jasmine.
Before he could say anything else to Danny, the billionaire heard a voice behind him shout, "Heads up, V-Man!" Vlad was suddenly tackled to the ground and the football was removed from his hands. "Ha! I see you've still got the old moves." Jack said as he stood up, the football in his large hands.
Vlad stood up quickly and brushed himself off. He scowled at Jack, "Give me that!" He said, taking the football out of Jack's hands and placing it back on its pedestal. "I never had any old moves! All those years in the hospital robbed me of that!" Vlad took notice of the looks the Fenton family was giving him after his outburst. They were surprised and worried. Vlad quickly composed himself once more, "Yes. Well, it gave me time to chart out a course for my life, didn't it? Make some decisions that helped to make me very wealthy, very quickly. And it never would have happened without you, Jack." Vlad shot the larger man a creepy smile.
Maddie saw the smile and felt herself become uncomfortable again, "Uh, yeah... maybe we should go." The brunette said.
"No, no, you should stay with me!" Vlad said quickly, placing his arm around Jack's shoulder, " That's the whole reason I'm throwing the reunion here in my castle - previously home to the legendary Wisconsin Dairy King." As he said this Vlad extended his other arm to a large hanging portrait of a small, stout man wearing a robe and a crown of cheese, holding a scepter with an ice cream on top if it. "Just so I could...reconnect with you, Jack. I insist you stay."
"Well, I don't know. We do have a really cool RV." Jack said, unsure.
Jazz, realizing that if something wasn't said soon she'd be spending another night in their cramped RV, faked a cough while saying, "Let's stay here!"
Danny raised an eyebrow at the girl, "Smooth." He commented, sliding his hand through the air for emphasis.
Seeing that Jack wasn't yet convinced to stay at the castle, Vlad said the one thing he knew would convince Jack to stay, "You know, Jack, the Dairy King's ghost could haunt these very halls..."
Almost immediately Jack's eyes lit up with excitement and shouted, "I'll get the bags!" He ran out the door and Maddie followed quickly after him. Vlad smiled as he watched their retreating forms before he turned his attention back to the two teenagers still in the room. Or, one teenager. Jazz had somehow wandered off in that short amount of time he had his back turned as he only saw Danny still admiring his Packers collection.
Vlad smiled at the sight and walked over to the teen only to pause when he felt a small burning sensation in his chest. His eyes darted to the floor and then back to Danny. The teen was still distracted by the collection and Jack and Maddie were still outside. Vlad rushed out of the room to his office, opening the secret entrance to his secret lab. He quickly descended the stairs and was met with three ghost vultures waiting in the lab. His eyes burned with anger when he caught sight of them. "I gave you three idiots the simplest task I could possibly think of!" Vlad shouted, "Find and eliminate that bumbling oaf, Jack Fenton! Yet you still failed me!"
"Hey! It wasn't all our fault!" The leader of the vultures cried, "Some fancy pants ghost boy got in our way."
"Yeah, all we did was ask him if he knew where we could find the guy and he flipped." One of the other vultures added.
The anger faded from Vlad's eyes and was replaced by curiosity. "Ghost boy you say?" He questioned, placing a hand on his chin. It seems like he'd be doing some research tonight about ghost sightings in Amity Park. He turned back to the vultures, "Jack Fenton is staying at the castle tonight. That should make eliminating him easier for you fools. I suggest you do not fail me again." Vlad warned, his eyes flashing a dangerous red. The birds squawked in fear and flew out of the lab.
The billionaire shook his head at the vultures and walked over to a large computer. He sat down in front of it and began to do some digging into the mysterious 'Ghost Boy' his vulture minions mentioned.
hi. littlest line break here. i just wanted to say a quick hi and see how you all are doing. hope you're liking the chapter so far. okay, i'll let you get back to reading now. bye.
Later that night in a large bed, Danny awoke to his ghost sense going off. He sighed, "Oh, great. Just what I need; a working vacation." He summoned forth his ghost half and phased out of the room, searching for the ghosts that triggered his ghost sense. As he flew through the castle halls, he stumbled upon the three ghost vultures he had battled before. They were following close behind Jack ready to attack. Thinking fast Danny phased through the floor and reached up to where his father was about to step. He grabbed Jack's ankles and phased him through the floor, dropping him off in a nearby bathroom.
Danny phased back up through the floor behind the confused vultures. "Hi, guys!" He said, punching his fist into his palm, "Remember me?" The vultures turned to see Danny and immediately screamed in fear, flying away in different directions. Confused, the ghost teen commented, "Okay. That was almost too easy."
From behind him, Danny heard a male voice say, "Ah, bright boy." Danny turned to see a brand new ghost. He wore a white suit and cape, had black hair, glowing red eyes, pale blue skin and sharp fangs.
Danny smirked, "Oh, whatever. I was aiming for the birds, but you'll do." He said, preparing for a fight. The new ghost merely raised an eyebrow in amusement at the boy's actions. Danny swung at the ghost, but he caught Danny's fist in midair. The white haired teen is surprised, and the ghost flings him hard against a wall. Danny slid down the wall and landed on a table, grabbing his head dizzily. "Whoa. Fast." Danny observed, "Alright, better stop fooling around." Quickly recovering, Danny launched himself at the caped ghost again but the ghost grabbed him in midair once more, this time by the throat. The ghost threw Danny down hard to the ground.
"My vultures were supposed to bring the big idiot to me, but you'll do!" He said in a mocking tone to Danny, "Danny Phantom, right?"
Danny was instantly shocked. "You...you know me?" He questioned. If this ghost knew who he was, maybe he knew other things about him. Maybe he knew who Danny really was.
"Of course I know you!" The ghost shouted as he phased backwards through a wall. Curious, Danny followed after the ghost. He phased through the wall and found himself in Vlad's private library. The ghost floated in the middle of the room and pointed at Danny, "You're the ghost boy of Amity Park. The one who parades around acting like a hero. How quaint."
For some reason the ghost's jab at Danny 'acting like a hero' actually hurt. Though he didn't know why. He hadn't been a hero for long and frankly he was still only just figuring out his strange powers. Yet why did it hurt so much that the ghost mocked him being a hero?
The ghost got right in Danny's face and floated around him, "Aren't you going to try to shove me into your ridiculous thermos?" He mocked.
Danny frowned, "I...I don't wanna fight you." He said, doing his best to hide the fear in his voice.
"No. No you don't." The ghost said as he raised his hand. A bright pink ectoblast fired out his palm and hit Danny square in the chest, knocking him back into a bookcase and causing books to fall off the shelves.
Danny recovered and flew into the air, firing a return blast. "Get away!" He shouted.
The strange ghost threw up a pink shield that protected him from Danny's blast. "Ah, an ectoplasmic energy blast." He commented, crossing his arms and a smug look appearing on his face. Danny frowned and continued to fire blasts at the ghost, all of which said ghost casually blocked. The ghost faked a yawn and said to the teen, "So...year one." The pink shield disappeared and Danny looked worriedly at his still glowing hands. He had only learned recently about this new power of his and he was being mocked for it. This did not help his confidence in the slightest.
"Tell me, child, can you do this yet?" The ghost asked as three copies of himself appeared around Danny.
The teen backed away from the ghosts and said, "No, I can't! How are you doing all this?"
The four ghosts had fallen into a line and all said in unison as their hands began to glow with pink energy, "Years of practice, which you, unfortunately, have no time for." At once, all four of the ghosts shot an ecto-blast at Danny, who screamed in pain and fell to the floor. Danny weakly struggled to stand back up and saw that the three clones had disappeared, leaving the original to prep an ecto-blast. The ghost continuously attacked him and Danny eventually phased back out into the hallway, crashing to the floor covered in bruises and burns. He fought against the darkness that wanted to consume him but eventually he succumbed to its embrace and fell unconscious.
The ghost phased out into the hallway and stood menacingly over the teen, just in time to see Danny transform automatically back into his human self. His eyes widened in surprise. "The ghost boy...is Jack's son?" He questioned aloud. Two black rings appeared around his waist and spread over his body, transforming him back into the familiar Vlad Masters. Amused, Vlad commented, "Well, what do you know?" He went beside the boy and knelt down, gently picking up the teen bridal style. He carried the boy all the way back to his room and set him down on the bed, pulling the covers over his small body. As he did so, Vlad noticed Danny's injuries already begin to heal.
The billionaire was pleased by this revelation. Jack Fenton's foolishness had once again caused another person to gain ghost-like abilities. He could use this to his advantage. Vlad went to the back of the room and sat in a chair, contemplating his next move. Obviously with Danny being the ghost boy as well as Jack's son, that would make killing Jack slightly harder on him. The boy's power was wild and untrained, but strong. If he could have the boy join him, things would be much easier. Vlad's eyes widened; that was it! Not only could he get Maddie by destroying Jack, he could get Danny as well! His perfect son! Vlad smiled and stood up, silently creeping out of the room.
He had just reached the doorway when he heard Danny scream behind him, "No! Get away!" Vlad turned to see the boy tangled in his sheets and panicking. He ripped the sheets off his head and looked around wildly. "Huh? Where am I? What happened?" He asked aloud.
"I was going to ask you the same question, young man." Vlad said, walking back into the room.
Danny felt a shiver go down his spine but ignored it as he quickly came up with an excuse, "I...must've been worn out from the long car trip. I-I'll be okay in the morning. I'm sorry for the scare"
Vlad smiled at him, "Oh, what's a little scare between friends, son, hmm?" The older man turned away from the boy and said over his shoulder, "Sleep tight, little badger." Danny smiled back at Vlad and laid back down on the pillow as Vlad exited the room and closed the door. Vlad's smile became slightly more sinister, "Yes, sleep tight."
I AM THE AMAZING LINE BREAK! How's it going? Liking the chapter? Yeah it is a bit long and I'm pretty sure you all know this already but it's fun seeing it again right? I'll let you get back to reading!
The next night, Danny found himself bored out of his mind at the reunion party. He sat down at an empty table and rested his head on his folded arms. He couldn't get that odd ghost out of his mind. How did it know who he was? Was it someone from his forgotten past? If only he had been able to ask the ghost some questions. Lost in thought, Danny never noticed Vlad standing beside him until the man placed his hand on the teen's shoulder. Danny looked up at the older man and saw that he had a small smile on his face, "Well, son, you're looking much better. I was wondering...if you could do me a huge favor." Vlad said.
Danny sat up straight and smiled back at the older man, "Oh, sure, Mr. Masters. But call me Danny. "Son's" what Jack-" Danny cut himself off, "I mean, my dad calls me." He mentally slapped himself for the slip up. He had been with the Fenton's for almost a full year now and he still couldn't remember to call Maddie and Jack, 'Mom and Dad'.
While Danny mulled over his mistake, Vlad became confused. He pulled out a chair and sat beside the teen, "Daniel," he began, "why did you call your father by his real name?" Vlad knew he was taking a major risk in asking Danny this personal question but he couldn't help his curiosity anymore. There was something different about Danny that he needed to figure out.
The teen sighed, he didn't know whether to make up a quick lie to cover up his mistake or to just tell Vlad the truth about his origins, despite him not knowing much about them himself. He glanced at the man from the corner of his eye. He looked genuinely concerned. Danny realized Vlad hadn't given him a reason not to trust him, aside from he being pretty sure that Vlad had been hitting on Maddie, so he decided to tell him. "NO!" A voice shouted in Danny's head. The teen gripped his head in pain and winced. The voice was back, after so much time without it, it had finally returned. And it was coming back in full force, shouting and screaming at him. But the words were jumbled and he couldn't make any out.
Vlad saw the teen clutch his head and a pained expression appear on his face. "Daniel?" He said, concerned. When the teen didn't reply he spoke in a more urgent tone, "Daniel! What's wrong?!" He got up out of his seat and leaned over the teen, gently shaking his shoulders.
"It. . . hurts." Danny managed to say.
Vlad furrowed his brow. How could asking a simple question trigger this reaction? He would have to wonder about that later as right now his main concern was Danny. He was about to go and find Maddie, or even Jack, when Danny suddenly lost his grip on his head and slumped forward in the chair. Vlad rushed back to Danny's side and shook the boy's shoulder, "Daniel? Daniel are you alright?" He asked.
Danny weakly looked up at Vlad and nodded slightly. "Sorry about that," the teen mumbled, "Old memories." Before Vlad could ask what the teen meant by that, he continued to speak, "Jack and Maddie aren't my real parents," Danny confessed. The billionaire was taken by surprise by the revelation but Danny wasn't quite done yet, "They took me in when I couldn't even remember who I was. They've helped me through a lot. And, though they may not be perfect," Danny glanced at his hands, "I think they're the best parents in the world." As Vlad processed all this, the teen stood. "Well, I better get that present." He stated as he walked off.
Vlad immediately ran after the teen, "Wait, Daniel!" He shouted. Danny paused and looked back at Vlad as the man approached him. "I actually have a different job for you." Vlad continued, "Could you meet me in my private study in about five minutes?" Danny was confused but agreed to the odd request. Vlad thanked him and walked off, a smirk on his face. He made his way to his personal study and entered the room, closing the door behind him.
This was just what he needed. Danny wasn't even of Jack's blood! He would be perfect in his plans to finally off his rival. But he would have to be smart about this. Danny obviously cared deeply for the fat oaf, and appeared to be willing to protect him no matter what. If he played his cards right, then he could eventually work Danny over to his side. He could reveal his ghost half to the boy and explain that their battle was a misunderstanding. He could say that he didn't appreciate unwanted guests in his home and if he had known that the ghost boy was Danny he would most certainly not attacked. Vlad smiled, as long as he hid his true colors this plan could work. Danny needed a teacher, and who better than Vlad Plasmius to teach him. The man who had had his powers for over twenty years.
A knock sounded on the door to his study. "Mr. Masters?" A small voice asked from the other side of the door.
Vlad smiled once more as he shouted, "Come in Daniel. We have much to discuss."
A/N: Hey guys, sorry about the long wait for the chapter. Life's been crazy and I wanted to make sure I got this chapter juuusst right. As I end this chapter I just wanted to thank you all so much for the support you have given me on this book. Your votes, compliments and general kind words mean a lot to me. Thank you all so much and I'll see you in the next one! :)
(Also, I apologize if this chapter seemed a bit boring. I know everyone already knows the origin of Vlad and Danny's relationship but as I was writing this chapter I thought, 'What if it went differently', and due to the odd nature of the story I made the 'what if' happen. Hope you enjoyed it regardless ^-^)
(Also, just as a final note, would you guys mind if I did a few more re-written episodes? It wouldn't be too many but there are some I see as crucial to Danny's 'becoming a hero' storyline. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. Thank you)
